Hello ladies

Not been in exile - I've moved offices at work and am in a much more visible place, hence my mumsnet time has been cut drastically! DD has had loads of appointments lately also so have either been working, travelling or in some kind of hospital / group. All good though.

Big congrats to Daisy. Well done you!

Jossie - have read yr posts and I don't think yr being daft not having amnio at all. I would do the same in yr situation. Sorry you are having an anxious time. I would reckon you should get more detailed scans on the nhs that would pick up any problems (eg heart) - have you been refered to fetal medicine? Even if heart problems etc do show up, loads can be done - lots if not most can be corrected. Its sounds v scary and obv no one really wants it but really isn't the end of the world. Wishing you all the best x (My dd has a rare chromo abnormality and has various problems.(She's fab tho - have a look at her cheeky pics on my profile) I carry it and have a 50/50 chance of passing it on. Well really its 1 in 4 passing on what my dd has and 1 in 4 passing on a different, fatal chromo imbalance, 1 in 4 chance of having a carrier child and 1 in 4 of having unaffected child with 'normal' chromosomes. This pg is the latter - what I'm trying to say is don't be too scared of the odds you've been given. And the triple test is pretty cack / unreliable as well)

Well the weeks are rolling by aren't they? (appreciate that this drags for the first 12 then accelerates thereafter) I'm 22 now. Had my scan t'other day and all looks grand. Deffo a little lad Have a 4d scan arranged at 28 weeks and am also having scans at 30 and 34 weeks (this is cos my dd was IUGR - getting lots more attention this pg even though there is no indication there is owt to worry about)

Hope everyone is well. Big wave to you all

Morning All

Got good news from GTT test, i don't have gestational diabetes so relieved I i didn't want any extra worries.
BP is slightly up, but not enough to worry so good there too.

Thanks for all the advice on the name front, My friend has gone a bit funny of late even before name, so I'm really not that sure she will be in my life much anyway, That sounds mean but I don't know her that well, and I get the feeling she doesn't like us that much. So I may use the name but have thought of some others now and might ask for your favourites soon

Mrs Mc- that's strange not to have 20 week ultrasound, it seems to be the one most countries/hospitals always have, It is nice to put your fears at rest if all is well, but of course their is a flip side. My dh wanted a nucal and i didn't as he wanted to prepare, but I would have baby regardless of any result.

Ejb - congrat's on healthy scan , and on little boy

Jossie- sorry to hear of test result, I wouldn't want an amnio either, but i'm sure the amnio result would be alot lower and put your mind at rest. Although it really doesn't sound that high to me, I'm sure bub will be perfect [hugs ]

Bouncing turtle- I think we are all in awe of your dh, he gets my vote for dh of the week, how sweet.

Hello everyone! Just a quick post as I am having an "exhausted" day - improved now I have had some Green & Black's chocolate - so haven't got the energy to get fully up to speed...

Uki - pleased to hear you're okay! Doesn't GD mean you're more likely to have a big baby - that must make it a double relief to get a clean bill!

Jossie - dh and I agreed that we couldn't terminate this pg whatever the risk of ds was so it was never an issue for us. If that is how you feel, then I don't think you should feel under any pressure to do an amnio. Is the triple test just the bloods or does it take into account the nuchal fold measurements as well? I think the bloods are notoriously inaccurate...

Have had a busy week at work compounded by pg exhaustion, hence absence from this thread. Not sure I'll ever catch up properly... I guess we'll all be counting down to the arrival of Firststar's baby, now Daisy's had hers - good to see you're sticking around Daisy! Must go, but hopefully will be around more next week...

hullo mumpbump. I am v tired too. Felt faint and delerious yesterday, went to bed as soon as dd did and today just feel completely spent.

My mom reckons I should get blood test for anaemia. Think I will. Don't want to just take iron tablets willy nilly

Mumpbump · 15/06/2007 15:38

42 - I am now tempted to post every day with the number of sleeps left until your due date, Firststar, but I rather suspect that would drive you mad!!! I remember getting really hacked off with people texting me last time to ask whether the baby had arrived yet... Anyway, I will definitely be getting a very, very early night tonight.

Mumpbump · 15/06/2007 15:40

EJB - I'm going to ask for a blood test to check when I go to the doctor's next week for my MATB1. Apart from making you feel cr*p, severe anaemia can potentially make the birth more risky because of loss of blood so definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Woooozle100 · 15/06/2007 15:47

cheers mumpbump - will deffo get checked out

And 42 sleeps. That's fab. Tho I reckon by the time I get to yr stage each sleep will be more like 10 sleeps - allowing for going the loo / waking and getting comfy again etc.

Glimmer · 15/06/2007 15:49

Hello everybody.
Can only echo Mumpbumps post. Am completely exhausted after DH's move here and house move etc. Can hardly finish my work day and want to sleep 24/7 (It's the first thing I think of when waking up...) Well, just guess it's just a normal reaction after all the stress I had.

Glad everybpdy is doing well and welcome PrincessJellybelly.

Yep, Firsty you are next! Uki, glad that test was negative. Congrats on the scan, Bouncingfurryturtle (great name, whoever came up with it!). MrsMcJ, good to hear that booking appointment went well. Daisyboo, great that you will continue to hang out with us. I am impressed that you find the time...EJT so sorry to hear about your ongoing pain, but you seem to cope well with it! EJB -- congrats to you scan. That must be a huge relief!

It's true that things speed up after the first trimester, but these first 12-16 week are agonizing.

Thinking of everybody.

Oh and yes, I have an initial consultaion with an independent midwife on Monday. Haven't heard HB in four weeks and DH never(!), so am looking forward to this. I think everythings's fine, since bump is growing, and I think I continue to feel moevements, but am not 100% sure that's really what I feel.

ejt1764 · 15/06/2007 15:57

Afternoon all - I have had the nicest day ...

I was booked in to have my waxing done (finally, I had to cancel because that was the day I had the horrible bleed), and just before I left my credit card bill came - and I'd got a late payment charge. When I checked my bank account, the money had left my account in plenty of time, so I phoned up to tell them I was not going to pay it. They agreed, and have taken the charge off the bill.

Now, while I was checking my account for the payment, I found out that I had won £76 on the lottery (I have a subscription - so any winnings get paid directly into my bank account.

I decided to ask at the salon if they could fit me in for some other things ... and they could, so, today, I have had:
*waxing done (ouch) - was going to have that anyway
pedicureback massage
*half-head highlights
*cut and blow-dry

wow!

My hair was really bugging me, I've been so sick that it's got into a terrible condition, and it's just very thick, and very long, and just hangs there, so they've cut a good 4" off the length, and have cut lots of lovely chunky layers into it - I feel like I've lost about 1/2 stone! I've had copper / gold highlights (I'm quite fair-skinned and have green eyes, hence the copper)

Wonder what DH will say ....
