I thought that this one sounded really good!

Uki - sorry to hear that you're not doing so well. Guess the stress of the international conference thing could have an effect, maybe? Do these things reverse themselves naturally?

MrsMcJnr - nice to hear how supportive your dh is. Although I tend to do most of the household and financial stuff, I do find that if I tell dh that I'm not feeling well, he will send me to bed and take over. Definitely ask for help if you need it and don't struggle...

VV - agree that 8 week scan is best if you can wait that long!

Firststar - hello! Hope you had a good bank holiday weekend!

becklespeckledfrog · 29/05/2007 15:52

Hi all, hope everyone is okay!
Ejt - what a scary weekend for you hun, hope you are feeling okay now, am sure that bub will be fine (fingers crossed for scan tomorrow) but definitely get signed off if you can.
KB75 - great news about your scan, so pleased baby is doing well in there!
Daisy - 8 days until B-day for you! How Exciting! Make sure you keep us as updated as you can. I had strong BH with DS2 from about 6 weeks before he was due, they would go on for days at regular intervals. Everyone was convinced he would be early but he was 9 days late in the end! For 2 days before 'established' labour started with both boys I had painful BH 5 mins apart and could feel pulling on my cervix (MW said it was shortening to prepare for birth).
VV - try not to worry too much hun (ha!), I am the queen of all worriers at the moment and my symptoms have been changing all the time, one day sick another not, boobs hard, boobs soft - keep thinking everything is a portent of doom. I am sure it is just hormone levels changing all the time causing different symptoms, bloody worrying all the same though. Symptoms in each of my pgs have been different and sickness has started at different stages but I do understand you giving yourself a benchmark. Mine is thrush (which I know sounds odd), I got it when first pg with my DSs and this one but not with the ones I lost (gives me hope when am feeling low).
AxMxY - Sorry to hear about your m/c. After my first ERPC I bled for 7-8 weeks but there was nothing left behind. If you are getting a negative pg test then I would say it is certain that nothing remains. Everyone's bodies recover in a different way but if you are worried then see your GP.
Welcome to Jenswish and Karlou, hope you have really boring straightforward pgs this time!
Hi to MrsMcJnr, Ejb, Plummy, Fettle, Firstar, Mumpbump, Glimmer, Uki, Hotchoc, StrangeTown, Furrymummy and anyone else I have missed!
As for me, am nearly 10 weeks now so not too long to wait for next scan (phew!), dreading it but trying to stay hopeful too if that makes sense. Last night I managed a hot meal (first in a couple of weeks) but am now back to feeling more ick in the daytime and evening. Put on a pair of casual trousers today which are usually quite loose - not anymore! They just do up now! Started new job today - answering the phone and sorting out roofers and plumbers for friend's hubby's firm. Seems quite good so far as am working from home, calls haven't been constant (bit mad around lunch time) and eventually should have mobile so am not confined to the house. Haven't told new boss am pg though - is that allowed? Will tell him once get past danger point, do you reckon that's okay?

Mumpbump · 29/05/2007 15:57

Beckle - you don't have to tell your employer until about 25 weeks when you have to give them notice that you will be taking maternity leave. Guess you won't get maternity pay if you're in a new job... 10 weeks - you'll be in that 12 week scan before you know it!

BTW, I am having my 22 week scan tomorrow afternoon, but won't be able to post until Thursday. I thought I'd let you know as I wouldn't want anyone to worry that the silence was ominous. Bubba is still kicking away and have been outed at work as I am now in maternity clothing. I was trying to get past the 22 week scan before officially telling anyone I was pg, but my bump seems to have grown exponentially over the weekend...

EJT - good luck with your scan tomorrow. I shall be thinking of you...

Glimmer · 29/05/2007 17:23

Hi Mumpbump -- just wanted to wish you all the best for the scan tomorrow. It's always a little scary to wait for a scan but on the other hand it's so much fun to see the LO wiggling around. I am looking forward to those movements you are reporting. Must be really reassuring.... Enjoy the photo-op and all the best for tomorrow!

Glimmer · 29/05/2007 17:24

EJT - will be thinking of you tomorrow as well!

ejt1764 · 29/05/2007 20:30

Evening all - wow this thread is busy, I turn around for 5 minutes. ...

MrsMc - dh has started coming to have his night-time cuddle before I get myself arranged - I think there's just about enough room in the bed for us both!
Hate to see that you had a horrible dream about my situation - just to let you know that my classroom is fine - it's just the corridor which is a problem - it's very narrow for the number of people going through it at lesson changeover. The school was built in the 30s, for a smaller student population, and while it's a gorgeous building (the nicest I've ener taught in, mind you I've got a few tales about classrooms I have known!) it does suffer from the corridors being weenie!

Jenswish - hi and welcome - hope this is boring and uneventful for you.

Glimmer - the idea of a stick is a good one - I can use it to clip people around the ankles if they get too close ...
Yey hey - your dh is coming on Thursday - I bet you thought this point would never arrive! So glad it's finally come!
FWIW I think it's a really good idea to go privately to a consultant you know already and (more importantly) trust - although I'm still under the NHS, I swapped consultant to the one I've been with for all of my pregnancies - it's not unusual to do that, apparently!

Uki - that blood glucose and bp are not looking wonderful - you take it as easy as you can at your conference! Try to put your feet up!

VV - good luck with waiting for the scan - it's a horrible thing to have to go through .. keep venting at us - we've all been there!

beckle - well done on your hot meal! You don't have to tell work that you're pg until about 25 weeks I think - www.workingfamilies.org.uk/asp/family_zone/f_factsheets.asp - has lots of good factsheets - the 'maternity pay and leave' one should answer your questions - you'll still get smp even if you're not entitled to extra maternity pay from work.

mumpbump - well done on getting this far before being 'outed' - the kids sussed out that I was pg about 5 minutes after I walked in through the door when I went back in March! One comment was: 'Miss, you lost loads of weight before Christmas, and were really skinny - and now, well you're not!' - Out of the mouths of babes ...
thanks for your good wishes too - good luck for you too for tomorrow!

firstar - hi! [waves]

DS came back this afternoon - and was on the naughty step twice before bedtime - PILs have absolutely ruined him .. I know grandparents are allowed to spoil their grandchildren - but my PILs really take the p!ss - it's like they take notes on how we do things, and then do the exac opposite! AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH! Feel better now!

Going for a cuddle on the sofa with dh now - have a happy Wednesday everybody!

Furrymummy · 29/05/2007 21:14

Boy you have been busy!

Hope everyone's okay! Been feeling tired a sick today, going to get some biscuits to put in car to snack on on way home as keep feeling sick in car on way from work!

EJT - good luck with your scan tomorrow, I'm sure everything will be fine. Walking stick sounds like a great idea, you can use it to whack the little buggers err darlings around the legs if they get too close

Hey Glimmer & Uki - I'm having problems deciding which of the two of you are busier - you both need to take it easy (easier said than done I know!)

Firststar - thanks for the tips, will pass on.

Beckle - 2 weeks to my next scan as well, have you got your appointment then? Still a bit nerve racking isn't it?

VV Congrats on the BFP!

Mumpbump, Daisy, MrsMc, Fettle EJB Hi!
Ax sorry for your loss {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Hope I haven't missed anyone!

plummymummy · 29/05/2007 22:08

Hello everyone. Must apologise as haven't had a chance to catch up with all the posts but will do. Just wanted to wish mumpbump and ejt good luck for their scans tomorrow

scaredtobelieve · 30/05/2007 09:23

Hi, I've been lurking for a while and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 8wks pg - my 3rd in a year (had 2 early m/c - 1 last July, 1 at Christmas) and I've had bleeding on and off this pg. Am driving myself mad with worry. Have been to EPU several times and saw h/b at 6.5 wks which was so reassuring. Bleeding stopped for a week but started again on Monday (only light when I wipe but pinky red, no pain) I've got PCOS and am on metformin. I just don't think I could cope if this ended in another m/c as well. I have another scan on Friday so am just wishing my life away until then. Wanted to share with you all as I know you ladies will understand.

Glimmer · 30/05/2007 09:59

Morning everybody and a special hello to scared2believe. Scared -- I bled with the current pg from week 5-7 for three entire weeks: red, pink, you name it. Interestingly, I had no bleeding whatsoever with mmc. So, in my own upside-own world I take a little bit of bleeding in early pregnancy as a good sign.
I hope it is a good sign for you, too, and if there is no pain I would say your chances are excellent, especially since you saw HB. It's very stressful, though, so please post as much of your worries as you like.

As for stress, there is internal and external stress and I don't mind the latter. It's always a question on whether is reaches your core or you can shrug it off. I can shrug off house issues etc (it's almost funny) but everything that has to do with that little being in there is right at the core.

Oh, and it's only 24h until my personal servant will arrive. (Wonder, if he has caught on to my obvious plan yet, but I think he has a haunch -- he agreed to do all shopping and cooking. Living apart can do wonders...)

In that sense Uki: if you enjoy your conferences, don't worry about it.

scaredtobelieve · 30/05/2007 10:21

Glimmer thanks v much - I know what you mean about the stress - it's all consuming. I'll try and stay positive and hope it's just one of those things they can't explain. Roll on Friday for my scan

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 10:40

Hi scaredtobelieve and welcome. It is a shaky fragile time and we've all been there so can empathise completely.....but please try to keep positive and focused on a healthy and viable pregnancy. This thread was my life-saver in the early days as it was easier to talk to women on here about what I was going through than friends/family in RL, who, IME only tended to see the positive side of me being PG again and couldn't understand my negative feelings and general worry.

Fingers crossed for you for Friday...it's not long to wait now

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 10:41

Oh and good luck for the scans ejt and mmpbump....

Mumpbump · 30/05/2007 10:56

Morning all!

Very quick post to say congratulations and welcome to scaredtobelieve!

And to say thanks for all the well wishes! Will hopefully have something positive to report tomorrow!!!

VV ? I can understand why you?d consider your pregnancy with DS your benchmark. I really hope your worries are put to rest soon. Re the 8 week scan, all the scans I had last time have prepared me for an inconclusive outcome even at 8 weeks. When I was scanned for this one at 5+6 weeks, I was measuring 5+2 and whilst by AF I should be 8 weeks on the day of the next scan, I?m prepared for only measuring 7+3 and it still being inconclusive and being asked to come back. I hope you get a positive scan and some peace of mind soon

Beckle ? hello you! 10 weeks! have faith hon Good luck with the new job. I think I may have put on a couple of pounds this week alone eating is the only thing that makes me feel better when I feel sick!

Mumpbump wow! 22 weeks! I hope the scan goes well today

Thanks Firsty ? I?m not good at resting but I?m trying!

Ejt ? thinking of you today

Furrymummy hello. Hello Plummy

Welcome Scaredtobelieve (good name ) sorry to hear about your history and I am sure the bleeding is scaring the hell out of you poor thing. It?s great that you?ve seen the HB and that the blood is not bright red and that you are not in pain. Those are all real positives I?m not sure what effect Metformin can have so cannot comment. I really hope Friday goes well and talk to us all you like in the meantime, we?ll help you get through

Hello Glimmer ? pmsl at ?your personal servant? does he know what he?s in for!!??

Hello Daisy how many times have you repacked the bag now?

Glimmer · 30/05/2007 11:36

No Firststar -- he knows that I am good eater but he heasn't experienced me eating for two yet
. Last time we saw each other I still has MS so that my eating was quite erradic...
But at the beginning I was the same as you: I had to eat constantly against MS (even got up at night to eat oranges...)...Good sign -- if you ask me

scaredtobelieve · 30/05/2007 14:32

Thanks everyone for your support - I'll try and be positive and fingers crossed for good news o Friday

hotchoc · 30/05/2007 17:17

hi just a quick one to say my 12 weeks scan was all just as it should be, thankfully. hope yours went well too those due one.

hotchocx

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 17:19

Wonderful news Hotchoc . You can relax a bit now and hopefully start to enjoy your pregnancy.

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 17:23

MrsMc....I'm trusting to my instinct that I packed everything I need correctly the first time, although I do need to add some bibs/muslin squares, and pack some towels.

Having second thoughts about the elective now....and hoping and praying that bub decides to come before Tuesday....I'm seeing the MW tomorrow and am going to ask her to have a check and see how things are (and maybe attempt a sweep, but not sure she will as I'm only 38+4)...I can't believe that the contractions I've been having haven't done anything.

ejt1764 · 30/05/2007 19:03

very quickly...

a quick update - have been for a scan this afternoon, and everything is fine - no placenta praevia, no placental abruptions - apparently it's just 'one of those things' ...

The sense of relief is enormous!

Here's hoping it doesn't happen again!

Thank you to everybody who helped to calm me down when I was panicking - much appreciated!

Waves to everybody else on the thread!

Glimmer · 30/05/2007 19:26

I am so glad to hear about your news EJT and Hotchoc!! Little virtual dance: yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....

DaisyNotHavingSausageFeetForMuchLonger -- if you are really sure you want to go into labour naturally, you could ask your husband to give
you an ahem natural sweep IYKWIM . In addition, sperm has supposedly the same hormones they use for induction, so the rules for getting the baby out are similar to those as for getting it in in the first place .
