I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

lucinda it's b6 and just remembered I have some so might start those too.

Re the Promethazine, its possible respiratory depression in new borns I think.
But I don't know if it's a studied thing or just an expected possibility.

Boredoftryingusernames · 23/02/2018 14:41

Somebodys glad you have eaten, hope taking both meds helps more and it is just a blip!

OrangeCloud18 · 23/02/2018 14:49

Hello everyone!
I haven't posted on this thread for a while but was lurking.
My son was born on Monday morning at 38+1, weighing 6lbs9oz. He is adorable and I am happy to report that HG is completely gone Grin

hotchocolate86 · 23/02/2018 14:56

Oh orange that’s great news. Congratulations. I’m glad to hear your HG has gone.

somebodys so sorry to hear you are having a setback. It’s rotten isn’t it? I hope it’s just a one off and that you feel better soon.

I’m still having a reasonable day so far. Just two episodes of retching. I feel lightheaded and I can’t do very much but it’s so much better than I have been this last week. I even managed to play blocks with my little boy earlier. He looked so pleased when I asked if he wanted to play.

Shehz21 · 23/02/2018 15:15

Orange Massive congratulations!!
Flowers
Enjoy warm baby cuddles and so so happy to hear HG is gone!

P.S : You were at the top of the DD date list with me 2nd so I am next Grin

Shehz21 · 23/02/2018 15:20

Foody I was on Promethazine throughout my pregnancy until week 34. Decided to wean off it after some excellent advice from Ana followed by a more thorough discussion with my consultant. It is due to a minor risk of blood clot in newborns(though the vit K shot should take care of that). It is absolutely safe according to consultant until 2 weeks before due date but since baby can come anytime from week 36 according to her she mentioned she would be more comfortable with me trying to wean off it from week 34.

nailsathome · 23/02/2018 16:23

Congratulations orange enjoy nausea-free newborn cuddles

RockinRobinn · 23/02/2018 16:31

@OrangeCloud18 congratulations!!!

Just a little update had some acupuncture this afternoon and I feel about 75% better as I don't have constant nausea and I managed to eat something and enjoy it a little bit! It's not completely gone as some smells are still making me feel sick but it's such an improvement. Let's hope it lasts. I'd recommend it but might be hard for those of you who are having such frequent bouts as you do have to lie still on your back for quite a while which I struggled with towards the end.

Natsku · 23/02/2018 17:03

Congratulations OrangeCloud!!

hotchocolate86 · 23/02/2018 17:17

Ah I don’t think acupuncture would be any good for me at the moment then rockinrobinn but I’m very glad you are feeling better for it. I hope the effects last a while.

Foodylicious · 23/02/2018 20:12

Bloody hell.
OH has been great at doing loads and letting me rest.
However he has just run LO a bubble bath and i am just heaving at the smell.

It's bloody awful.
I know it's just the strawberry shampoo he has chucked in there but all I can smell is sour milk! Ugh.

Just had to nip in for quick wee. Held my breath as much as I could.

God I feel like a right drama queen

LucindaE · 23/02/2018 20:58

OrangeCloud Wonderful news. Star Flowers Smile Brew CakeThank you so much for coming on with your happy news. Glad the sickness disappeared with the birth - as it does for about 99.5 per cent of sufferers.
RockinRobin I am so glad that the Acupunture helped you a lot. It does help most people, though only a few as much as you or I; it must be partly to do with the skill of the practitioner. Unfortunately, it is expensive.
Waves to bored somebody Shehz and everyone. Foodylicious You are not a drama queen. That's one of the awful side effects, that intense sense of smell. Well, my OH quite frankly stank to me of roast pork. I used to lie in bed holding a lavender satchet to my nose...

How is everyone feeling today?

Touch wood, I am having another reasonable day. I feel pretty nauseous but not being sick and no retching as of yet. I’m completely exhausted again though. Hope the baby is doing ok in there.

Foodylicious · 24/02/2018 11:21

Woosy and just want to be lying down all the time.

Wondering if I have been spending too long lying down and I'm making it worse?

Managing to eat and just a bit of wretching, but felt pretty awful earlier and seem very pale.

Good you hear you are having an alright day (for you) so far hotchoc

Boredoftryingusernames · 24/02/2018 11:35

Hotchocolate glad you are still feeling a bit better.
Foody I know what you mean, I can manage about an hour at the most without just feeling I have to go back to bed due to feeling nauseous/a little dizzy. I keep thinking maybe I should push myself to keep going, I mentioned it to my GP and she told me not to be so hard on myself and rest when I feel I need to. I seem to be able to prevent actually vomiting now by lying down when I feel really nauseous and (most of the time) it passes. I've decided to give myself another week before pushing myself too much harder, it's just so hard when you are so used to keeping on top of everything!

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 24/02/2018 11:46

I think I'm doing a bit better today too :) feeling a bit 'off' but no retching as yet and I've actually done some things around the house. I think part of it is relief. I put out an SOS this morning and my mum is picking me and DD up later to spend the night with her. DP is being very stressy about the housework and I just can't put up with another evening of him huffing. I should have told him if he wanted clean clothes then he'd have to put a wash on but he was being such a willy I just left it. I still had to deal with the huff this morning when he had nothing to wear so it was a bit petty and pointless of me but hey ho.

SleepyBadger · 24/02/2018 11:50

Sorry haven’t posted in a while been really struggling 😢 sorry to hear others are too 👎. Cyclizine doesn’t seem to be making much of a difference. I weighed myself this morning and shockingly I have lost a stone in 2 weeks which is just crazy! I don’t know what to do next...

SleepyBadger · 24/02/2018 11:51

Somebody describing your husband as being ‘such a willy’ has really made me chuckle 😂 My husband is being the same and constantly moaning and huffing about having to pick up the slack.

Foodylicious · 24/02/2018 11:51

somebodys not petty and pointless. He shouldn't need to tell you that him putting a wash on will = him having clean clothes.

Hope your mum makes a bit off a fuss of you.

Boredoftryingusernames · 24/02/2018 11:53

Sleepy sorry you're feeling so rubbish still, I was wondering how you were. It's really shocking how much weight you can lose so quickly isn't it, I lost the same over that time frame. How many weeks are you now? Are you only on cyclizine?

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 24/02/2018 12:07

Oh sleepy that's so rubbish. Time to get back to the doctors for you! I'm finding the cyclizine quite good so it just shows how there are different severities and how people respond to medication differently.

SleepyBadger · 24/02/2018 12:09

Bored - I know couldn’t believe it when I weighed myself. I’m back to the weight I was before I had DS who is now 9 months old. The HG diet...we could make millions! 😂 I always say though I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

I’m 8+3 today and on a combination of cyclizine and stematil alternating every few hours x

SleepyBadger · 24/02/2018 12:15

Somebody - glad the cyclizine is working for you. Yes think I’ll be dragging myself back down to the Surgery at some point this week x

hotchocolate86 · 24/02/2018 12:31

bored definitely don’t push yourself too much. It’s not worth the repercussions. I had a shower earlier and that made me sick. At least I am clean though I guess. I don’t seem to be able to do much other than sit or lie down. My favourite pastime is sleeping at the moment.

Glad to hear you are feeling ok somenodys I hope you get some rest in at your mums later.

sleepy I have lost nearly half a stone in a week. It’s crazy isn’t it? Definitely get yourself back to the doctors and ask for more help. I’m sure they can try you on something else. I know what you mean about not wishing this on your worst enemy. I couldn’t either!

Boredoftryingusernames · 24/02/2018 12:33

Sleepy am I right in remembering you've had HG pregnancies before? Did you have any other meds previously? Definitely think you need to go back, especially as you're probably in the peak of the really awful period at 8 weeks Sad. There are lots of other meds they could try.
I found it helpful to give my weight loss as a %, rather than a figure, they seemed to shrug off 6kg as opposed to 9% body weight......also my DH's aunt is a midwife and she suggested writing down every vomit/retch/spit, how often you urinate, and what you eat/drink for a day so they can actually see it in black and white to help them realise just how awful it is.....
