I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Super busy day at work so only just read today's posts.

Mint tea my arse!!!! Haha.(though it's not actually bloody funny)

Due date Oct 5th.

Should have had an early reassurance scan today (previous miscarriage) but it was cancelled.
Have one booked for somewhere else tomorrow.
Bricking it. Even more so now it's been delayed.
Work has been so busy though it's kept me distracted.

SleepyBadger · 20/02/2018 19:18

Foody - good luck with the scan! I had mine last Friday and was bricking it too. I’m sure it will all be fine...just remember to breathe! I found having a full bladder for the scan pretty much impossible because of the sickness and dehydration, but thankfully they still managed to see the little one and a nice heartbeat. I still worry on a daily basis though. After a miscarriage things are never the same. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

LucindaE · 20/02/2018 19:55

Shehz It is awful for you that you are suffering in the third tri - don't stay away because you don't want to discourage people - there are always the unlucky few who suffer throughout, or for whom it comes back - the thread if for support for you too! At least you approach the fabulous Pink Castle at the end of the Hyperemesis Horror...
Foodylicious All luck. The chances are heavily in your favour, but I know how worrying a scan is you've had a miscarriage before. As SleepyBadger says, things are never the same. SleepyBadger Happy that all is well.
Somebody But this seems so unfair - there must be some other form of financial help: why should low earners be penalised? I hope the meds are helping. You were very restrained with the Gingering Doctor.
TwoDrifters Lovely to hear from you, as ever.
Mustang Indeed; you are right! Wink
I hope everyone is coping today.

Lucinda Thank you for the kind words and unconditional support as always. It really does mean a lot to me Smile

SleepyBadger Great spirit girl! Yes you got this!
It is amazing to see how you ladies are being so strong. Please keep having these little milestones such as 1st scan or 12 week scan/20 week scan or even the midwife appointments to look forward to. It really did help me and a lot of the other ladies on here and somehow helped us to keep on going.
I really understand how keeping something,ANYTHING down feels like such a victory.

Keep soldiering on ladies, it WILL get better sooner than you think Star

And wow I did just realise we have 3 sets of twins on our HG thread! Fantastic!! Grin

nailsathome · 20/02/2018 20:15

Foody good luck with the scan. I've also had previous mcs and just hate the scans so much because until you've had them you don't know it's bad news iykwim.

There seems to be a lot of twins about atm. There are 3 at my workplace too.

My dd is 20th July.

www.cafepress.co.uk/mf/107462053/cracker-and-ginger-wont_maternity?productId=2010737482 I think we all need one of these shirts! 🤪

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 20/02/2018 22:49

He mentioned seabands as well!!! But as I said he was very sympathetic and prescribing real medication so I think he was just offering some anecdotal advice. I took deep breaths Grin

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 01:28

Ughhh
Hate being sick.
Nausea abd stomach ache has been waking me up more and more the last week.
Stomach was ridiculously swollen. Just been sick a few times and it's gone down.

Only feeling a bit queasy now but wide awake!

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 06:12

Bollox
Have spent most of the night being sick

Meant to start work at 7 and I really have to go in today

hotchocolate86 · 21/02/2018 07:54

Oh foody I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough night. Did you make it into work?

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 21/02/2018 08:03

Oh no foody Sad

Boredoftryingusernames · 21/02/2018 08:12

Good luck today Foody hope you are ok.

Are you feeling any better hotchocolate?

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 08:15

Made it in to work for 8.
Had a few more vims and one in the shower for good measure.

Just trying to start eating my cereal.

How's everyone else doing?

Worried67202 · 21/02/2018 08:46

Foody - that sounds so hard I’m so sorry ☹️.

Can I ask - those of you that have been signed off, was it quite straightforward? Did you have to ask to be signed off or did the GP happily do it? I was very sick in my first pregnancy but reduced my hours rather than be signed off (I’m not really sure why now, it’s not like I wanted to be sick) but I can’t afford to do that this time, especially given we’re expecting twins.

Hope everyone manages to keep something down today, the only thing I seem to be able manage is occasional salt and vinegar crisps and strawberries!

hotchocolate86 · 21/02/2018 08:50

Hi bored I feel ok at the moment. I’ve just tried eating some plain crisps so I’ll have to see how they sit. How are you feeling?
Glad you made it into work foody. I hope you have a better day than night.
worried my hospital signed me off, no questions asked but last time my doctors were happy to do it too.

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 08:57

Last time my gp happily signed me off.
I was off from 6-12 weeks, going back after I finally agreed to try promethazine

Boredoftryingusernames · 21/02/2018 09:19

foody good luck today, really hope you are ok.
Worried my Drs offered the first sick note when I was in for meds. They have been happy to extend it (been off for 5 weeks now) with my mum popping in to ask.
Hotchocolate glad you feel a bit better, hope the crisps stay down. I'm tentatively feeling a bit better thank you. Still on ondansetron 8mg three times a day which seems to be holding off the actual vomiting during the day really well, feel terrible in the evenings and taking promethazine then too. Last few days have found if I lie still the bad nausea waves actually pass rather than having to go vom. Able to actually play and read to my little girl with enthusiasm so very happy with that (as is she!) Smile

Anatidae · 21/02/2018 09:20

I struggled through at work the first time but this time is worse and I just can’t manage. Also if I’m honest my motivation to flog myself into the ground for them dipped somewhat after how I was treated regarding last maternity leave.

Worried about money as well (we don’t get decent sick pay here and you have to apply for sick pay, they decline about half even with a doctors note ) but i physically cannot work. I was sick for about twenty minutes solid this morning when I got out of bed, just about managed to get DS to nursery and then now I’m vomiting again. I can’t perform like this.
Gynae was happy to sign me off. My note runs out next week so I am hoping they will extend it. Hoping after week 16-18 or so it might improve slightly - last time I was sick the whole way but not quite as bad in trimester two (it came back with a vengence about 33w...)

Id just ask. ‘I can’t oerform like this, I’m being sick x times day, I’m retching x times a day, I’m dizzy, I’m fatigued. I need to rest.’ It’s all true and the doc should see that.

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 09:44

Waiting for a few calls back then heading home.
Feeling pants

BossWitch · 21/02/2018 09:57

Oh shit foody, sorry to hear you've had a rough night. Hope you are able to get some rest when you get home.

Saw a gp today who has prescribed me cyclizine, hopefully that will help. Tested for ketones as well and nothing which is a relief. Blood pressure is low, probably due to dehydration. Woudn't do me a sick note as I can still self certify for the rest of this week but has said to call on Monday if I'm not feeling able to go back to work.

Added to the list of things that make me heave: the smell of our washing liquid. Am having to wear dirty clothes because clean ones make me retch!

Anatidae · 21/02/2018 10:10

I had the same boss

A change in brand helped - I couldn’t bear the smell of the one I’d previously thought was OK.

isthismummy · 21/02/2018 12:41

Isint it weird what brings on nausea? I had just started learning Greek when I got my bfp. Now the sight of Greek letters makes me dry retch! I've had to delete the apps on my phone as looking at them was giving me nausea. Ditto with my pregnancy apps. Anything showing babies in wombs makes me heave. I can't even look at my early scan photos. I've had to hide them away in the drawerSad

Shehz21 · 21/02/2018 13:46

Got back from my consultant appointment and no gestational diabetes yay!
But got another scan and consultant appnt next Wednesday to see if baby's growth is still going way off the charts.
I am having some anxiety attacks at the thought of an induction but well..
This is definitely my 1st and last Sad

Thinking of justtheonethen. Hope we get an update from her soon.
Also hope Natsku is getting the appropriate treatment for the pain she was having.

Foody Hope you get some rest when you get home.

Hope everyone is coping someway or another today!

Foodylicious · 21/02/2018 13:50

Just had scan
All ok and as it should be.

Just sat in the car force feeding myself a bananna.
I haven't kept anything down do far today apart from some tiny sips of lemonade.

Anatidae · 21/02/2018 14:06

isthis

Yeah - it’s basically conditioning through repeated stimulus/response and it’s very powerful. I suffer from nausea after I’ve ovulated - I don’t know if it’s psychological or physical- I suspect it’s a mix of the two.

If I’ve had a really bad vomit I can’t touch that food again for some time. I suppose it makes sense, if something makes you sick your body wants to avoid it.

Great to hear no diabetes shehz!

Glad the scan went ok foody

I have been on my feet all day (nursery run, cleaning for imminent MIL visit) and I’ve really overdone it. I just want to go to bed :(
