I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Lucinda here from -guess where, the library pc. They said, 'Ah, here you are again.' Welcome to the new people. hotchocolate86 Of course I remember you as heavenscent86, and I so agree with others, do get meds asap and invest in those kesostix from a chemist to check for the early stages of dehydration once more. I do hope you escape it this time. People have been known to. mileymoocow Welcome. You mustn't feel too guilty. That may seem easy for me to say who stopped at one, but from all I have seen the LO's soon forget the period of comparative neglect really quickly and have the priceless gift of a sibling. Do ask for something stronger. An anti acid can make a huge difference.
foodylicious Welcome. I hope it doesn't get worse than pregnancy sickness this time. Again, as others urge, do get pre-emptive meds early on.
Emu How are things?
Shehz and Mustang Thanks so much for lovely words. I am glad that this thread helped in your darkest hours. Great advice from you both, and Natsku Anididae and others.
The liquids that have helped others seem to be: flat full sugar coke, ice lollies, ice cubes, the juice of tinned fruit, sips of choclolate milkshake,(maybe soya), Elderflower Water, Luoozade, Lemonade, Fizzy Orange, orange juice for some, Dr Pepper, soda water and someone mentioned Robinson's fruit drinks. The foods (roughly so called) are tinned fruit, nibbles of crisps and chips, cheap ice cream, cuppa soup, jelly, slices of mango or melon, and some swear by nibbles of cream crackers and biscuits. Not the best diet, but as everyone on here knows, it isn't exactly a question of choice.

Natsku Those sounded like fascinating RE lessons, and you are right! That's the god. The facts stuck in your head, so he must have been a good teacher.
Baubles I have a very old fashioned, primitive phone with no internet access and don't even have a laptop. My sis has promised to give me her old one.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

Hi LucindaE I’m glad you remember me. For some reason I was never able to change back to my old user name as i kept being told I wasn’t allowed every time I tried. If I do suffer with hyperemesis again I’m sure this thread will be a good source of support as it was last time. I have bought some ketostix and my ketones are showing as +1 at the moment. I think they have to be a fair bit higher for hospital treatment if I remember correctly. I feel so thirsty though but with the nausea it’s really hard to drink enough to feel even close to hydrated.

HoneyCake86 · 16/02/2018 15:41

Oh thanks for that list! I have been living on dry toast and now even that is too much for me. One day, a cuppasoup help then next day i couldnt bear it, fast running out of food sources i can stand the sight of. Sipping lemonade or citrusey drinks that are ice cold help abit too, albeit temporarily.

hotchocolate86 · 16/02/2018 15:48

HoneyCake86 Can you eat mashed potato? I lived on it in my first trimester last time. Funnily enough that and mature cheddar cheese were the only things I could keep down at all.

PoodleDoodleCaboodle · 16/02/2018 15:59

Does anyone have any experience with Cyclizine? I took the first tablet yesterday. It helped in so much as making me drowsy so I fell asleep at 7pm and woke up at 5am! Scared to take it again!!!

E2017 · 16/02/2018 16:58

@PoodleDoodleCaboodle they tried me on cyclizine, it made me very sleepy as well but I found it wasn't the medication for me in terms of helping with vomiting/ nausea. Hopefully it will do the trick for you though.

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/02/2018 18:03

hotchocolate level of ketones for hospital treatment seems to really vary depending on the hospital's policy. Mine won't give fluids until ketones are 2+, other people on here have said their hospital has been more proactive and given fluids with lower or negative ketones. There is a link on the sickness support website to hospitals with specific clinics for HG, I know the hospital in Birmingham says they prefer to treat earlier with 1+ ketones rather than let things get worse (unfortunately not where I'm from!).

Emu31 · 16/02/2018 18:28

poodle Yes cyclizine made me exhausted too, didn't work for me unfortunately but I know it does for some. It's a first line treatment so worth trying something else if it doesn't do the job.

honeycake yes I think that's really common for safe food list to change continually (rather confused my poor dh when he tried to buy me things he thought I could stomach only to find me violently reject them!). Ice cream was one that stayed good for me, but only soleros and haagen daz strawberry - nothing else! Go with whatever feels vuaguely tolerable to you at the time.

So I'm back in hospital and going to be induced this eve when they find me a bed. Am staying as relaxed as possible, all the water birth/midwife lead stuff out the window but it really doesn't matter as pink castle in sight and will meet little man soon. If we can survive hg we can survive anything I think!

Emu31 · 16/02/2018 18:33

Also Lucinda I totally second comments from Mustang and Shehz, this thread has absolutely gotten me through this pregnancy. I honestly don't know where I'd have been without it, even if sometimes I couldn't post much just reading the supportive comments and knowing I wasn't alone made all the difference in the world in those dark early days. To those of you going through the worst of it now, know that you absolutely will get through it, though it might not feel like it now you will survive.

Natsku · 16/02/2018 19:02

Good luck Emu!

Anatidae · 16/02/2018 19:22

Fame natsku! :)

I’d like to say I’d read it but Finnish is about the hardest language on this on any other planet...

Anatidae · 16/02/2018 19:24

Yes lucinda huge, huge thanks for this thread series. It’s been a lifeline, it really has.

Some nice news from me anyway - NIPT test back today and all normal :) the grandparents are in the pub back in the UK having one for me ;)

Hugs to everyone else, hang on in there.

Natsku · 16/02/2018 19:26

It is a bloody hard language Anatidae! It pretty much just says about my brother winning in court and that baby was sort of born on the same day (if we went with UK time zone rather than the Finnish one) and that baby is being called Mr. Justice at the moment Grin

Anatidae · 16/02/2018 19:28

I’m very pleased about your brother :) saw the news reports and very glad he wasn’t extradited

Boredoftryingusernames · 16/02/2018 20:02

Good luck Emu!

Shehz21 · 16/02/2018 21:37

You look lovely Natsku and was waiting on these pics of baby Mr.Justice in his tye dye babygrow!

Goodluck Emu !! Hope you post back soon woth a positive experience and maybe a lovely pic of baby Grin

justtheonethen · 17/02/2018 07:18

Good luck Emu!

Natsku love Mr Justice! *

So I’m also being induced, on Sunday Shock. I’m 37 weeks and the last scan showed growth issues and confirmed the problem with the blood flow which is a sign my placenta is failing. I also had reduced movement yesterday so they have decided to induce me rather than wait for another scan to confirm growth has stopped.
So my water birth is also out the window but I’m so excited to meet my little girl!

Natsku · 17/02/2018 07:39

Good luck just!

hotchocolate86 · 17/02/2018 09:11

Good luck Emu and just

SleepyBadger · 17/02/2018 09:18

Good luck Emu and Just! Bored - Our local hospital doesn’t treat until ketones are 3+..mine have been consistently 2+ and I’ve lost half a stone in the past week but they still won’t treat me at the moment. I’m not even keeping the meds down at the moment. Feeling pretty low :( My husband is all for taking me to A&E today as a last ditch resort to try and be taken seriously

Hope everyone else is managing ok today. No idea what I’d do without this thread x

Shehz21 · 17/02/2018 09:42

Just Oh my! I am so excited for you!! Can't wait for you to report back with a lovely post that Mini Just is here! Your beautiful ending is so close love after the entire wait with IVF, the battle with HG and all the pregnancy related stress you have had.
I am so so happy for you alreadyyyyFlowers
Try and relax until tomorrow, I am sure everything will go fine!
Is your hospital bag all ready??

justtheonethen · 17/02/2018 10:00

Oh sleepy that is rubbish. Go to A&E definitely.

Shehz thank you, that made me all teary! Yes pretty much there, just a few last minute bits to add.

Thanks all, I’m so excited!

bitzy12 · 17/02/2018 10:13

My hospital won't admit until 3+ either, it's ridiculous. Go to a&e and make sure dh is very perisistant that you need some help. Glad he's there to back you up x

Emu31 · 17/02/2018 10:17

Good luck just! Really hope all goes well with your induction and you will meet your little girl soon!

They have tried to kick things off here last night so am hoping body will cooperate and start labour soon.
