Dixeychick · 24/01/2018 07:24

Ugh, had the worst night's sleep! Felt like I woke up with painful hips every hour, & then 3yo DC climbing all over me at 6am

Dixeychick · 24/01/2018 07:25

Good luck tooslow, I finished work last week & have same due date as you, no idea how you're managing to keep going but not long now!

AnxietyForever · 24/01/2018 12:26

I finished work just over 2 weeks ago, best thing ever!!
I also feel very swollen, most of my shoes seem to be tight fitted all of a sudden and I have grown an extra chin Hmm

BluePheasant · 24/01/2018 13:10

Yes to doubling in size by the evening! I’d like to blame it all on fluid retention but I think build up of gas is involved somewhere too BlushGrin

SomehowSomewhere1 · 24/01/2018 17:58

Thank goodness the double chin is not just me, worrying me! Huge everywhere yet eating less because I can only fit so much in.

Ct17218 · 24/01/2018 18:46

36+4 today and just had my consultant appointment! He has discharged me!! And he said he now classes me as low risk! Little chunk is currently 6lb 8oz!

Anna2006 · 24/01/2018 19:01

38+3 and due 4th Feb. Growth scan Monday said little one was estimated to weigh 6lb 7oz.

No signs of anything happening yet. Fair amount of pressure. But no signs of losing any mucus plug yet. Another week until my midwife appointment where hoping she might offer a sweep a few days before due date 🤞🏻🤞🏻

laelti · 25/01/2018 12:43

Anna (I think I'm on your thread in childbirth) Same here - plenty of pressure but no signs anythings really happening. Though first baby so not really sure what I'm looking for... don't think I've even had any Braxton Hicks! Midwife tomorrow so will see what she says...

Finally got round to doing a shop and stocking the cupboards up... my batch cooking plans haven't gone that well so far, they've ended up in Brownies, Victoria Sponge and Banana Bread. Tasty but not practical!
Good timing with all the baby events on though.

Rainshowers · 25/01/2018 13:52

I saw the midwife yesterday and they won't offer me a sweep until I'm 41 weeks...that seems so far away!

With DD1 I didn't have any real labour signs until contractions actually started so it can just happen out of nowhere. This time round I'm feeling a lot more uncomfortable but no real signs. Would love a late January baby but expecting a Feb one!

Mrstobe90 · 25/01/2018 15:40

I'm so hormonal today. Someone called me a massive beached whale and I nearly burst into tears. Sick of people telling me I'm huge! I'm a size 14 with a big bump. The rest of me hasn't really grown but everyone is making me feel shitty about myself.

Does anyone else get comments like these from friends and family?

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 25/01/2018 15:46

I'm really sorry Mrs. I've had similar comments and they also make me feel like cr@p Sad. I don't understand why people feel the need to say anything?!

Emcharlierush · 25/01/2018 17:35

38+0

Lost my mucus plug at midday today...now the suspense really is killing me!! Could it be hours? Days? Weeks away? Ahhh!

cheshiremama89 · 25/01/2018 17:47

@Mrstobe90 I've had some truly terrible ones, mainly from male relatives on my DH's side!
And they're no oil painting!

MIL has been really nasty too! All said in a playful manner of course which for some reason seems to make them feel justified Angry

Mrstobe90 · 25/01/2018 18:03

Thanks @CoffeeAndCupcakes85! It was my Mum who said it (and has repeatedly said it about a million times). Got quite upset with her as I keep having to ask her to stop.

@cheshiremama89 that's awful! Can you ask your DH to say something? He should be supporting you. My MIL 'jokingly' called me fat and my DH immediately said "she's not fat, she's pregnant!" And MIL hasn't said it again.

cheshiremama89 · 25/01/2018 18:10

@Mrstobe90 I don't know if he picks up on it because it's said with such jest.

But to be honest with you it's really changed my opinion on those who have said something xx

Dixeychick · 25/01/2018 18:37

Oh I get comments about my size CONSTANTLY. MIL is a particular culprit, she's been going on and on about how big I am from day 1 (never maliciously but didn't pick up on me not appreciating the comments despite me saying "that makes me feel really crap about myself" and ranting on Facebook about it repeatedly). She's eventually stopped, I think DH must have had a word with her about it. I get a constant stream of "are you sure it's not twins?" too - Yes! If they can tell whether it's got a penis, they can tell if there's 2 in there ffs!!!

Mrstobe90 · 25/01/2018 19:03

Good luck @Emcharlierush!

@cheshiremama89 maybe ask your DH to say something? Having someone fighting your corner, even over the little things, can make a huge difference to how you feel about yourself and the world around you during the pregnancy.

And omg @Dixeychick yes about the twins comment! It was always my MIL that asked that as well!

AnxietyForever · 25/01/2018 20:50

I think if someone was to comment on my weight right now it would tip me over the edge, these comments don't help especially when we feel so awful in these last few weeks

rainshowers I wonder why they won't offer a sweep? Is it another weird regional thing? Been to midwife today and been told I can have one next Friday (I'll be 39+6). All else fails I'll be offered induction on 15th so not long whatever happens...

Baby is 3/5 engaged (as he was 2 weeks ago!) and has his back to my side so been advised to stay upright and lean forward to prevent him going back to back!

I seem to have been lucky on the rude comments front!

cheshiremama89 · 26/01/2018 16:31

Anyone tried evening primrose vaginally?
Midwife recommended it yesterday Blush

BluePheasant · 26/01/2018 17:06

Why do people feel it’s ok make these comments? I don’t think it matters what size you are either as I was only an 8 before pregnancy and I’ve had the “sure it’s not twins?”, “omg you look huge” etc from about 20 weeks Really can get to you when you’re not exactly feeling amazing anyway!

But funny enough saw midwife today and bump measures 35cm at nearly 37 weeks so despite what everyone says I’m not measuring big!

Anyone finding being on their feet for v long really difficult? Much more than about an hour and my feet and back are screaming for me to sit down!

Never heard of doing that cheshire, what is it meant to do?

Dixeychick · 26/01/2018 17:45

Had a growth scan today (36 + 6) & it estimated that baby is already 8lb! I'm going to give birth to a MONSTER. At least that explains all the 'wow, you're massive!' comments.......

And yes to struggling to be on my feet for too long! Knackered.....

Rainshowers · 26/01/2018 17:53

laelti I have no idea! I do think a lot of it varies regionally. Last time I didn't get a sweep (and went 6 days overdue) but NCT friends who fell under a different area did get one at 40wks if it seemed like it might help.

They only let you go 10 days over here before induction so I'd have thought they'd want to give women all the help they can at going into labour!

I'm very uncomfortable today. If I keep moving I'm ok, but as soon as I sit down I seize up. Made the mistake of a little nap earlier before the nursery run and it took nearly 10 minutes to haul myself off the sofa! Let's hope these babies start making an appearance soon Smile

cheshiremama89 · 26/01/2018 18:51

@BluePheasant it's meant to soften the cervix I believe and can bring labour on.

Midwife said of all of the old wives tales, it is the best one and has heard a lot of positive comments from women that have tried it.

I've popped 2 in so ill let you knowConfused

NoParticularPattern · 26/01/2018 19:04

I’m signing in here to have a whinge about how massive I am. 39 weeks today so due date of 2nd Feb and I feel like a monstrous whale! I’m horrified that people have been rude enough to you guys to make such crappy comments!! Especially actual relatives- you own mother even!!! I think at this stage I’d have either walked out or told them not to come back until they’ve had a good long think about what they just said to a very pregnant woman.

I’m on baby number one and I have no idea if any of my “signs” are actual signs. I just get a lot of pressure and a lot of stabby cervix/low bump pains. I’m not sure I’d know Braxton Hicks if they slapped me round the face!! With you guys on the hip pain- mine ache and then wake me up when I need to turn over (which is decidedly NOT glamorous as I’m sure you all know!!). I have a sweep booked a week on Monday so hoping that that moves things along a bit if I’m still intact!

Anyway enough from me. Hope you’re all keeping busy and time flies etc etc. Or at least people stop being so rude and you don’t have cause to go all pregnant woman rage at them!!
