Congrats on your babies all. Mishmash33 I think my baby is currently side on, I'm 39+1 and waiting for them to put on an appearance. Did your baby just turn on their own or did they need a bit of help?

mishmash33 · 18/02/2018 14:31

@SpottyBrolly he did turn himself in the end - had to wait for 45 mins on my side xx

Ava1985 · 18/02/2018 16:16

Hi all

Congratulations on the new births!

Hungrymum hope your induction goes smoothly if baby hasn't arrived by then. I'm sure it's just another one of those pregnancy things and nothing to do with your diet etc. Good luck!

I'm still here at 40+3 and no major signs of baby's arrival. Been having some (tmi) yellow tinged discharge each morning which tails off when I'm up and about? Maybe losing the plug slowly or general pregnancy discharge, who knows!
Mw has booked me in for a sweep at 10 past past due date but is hopeful I won't make it that far!

Hope you ladies are having a good weekend and those with babies are getting a bit of rest!

Emcharlierush · 18/02/2018 19:42

DD2 made a traumatic entrance today 15.01, 8lb 9. Baby lying sideways=assisted delivery with ventouse, episiotomy & cord wrapped around the neck to top it off!!! All on gas and air because it was too late for anything else. Never. Again.

Anyway. She’s fine, I’m fine. And it was totally worth thinking I was going to die!!! Very in love and learning the ropes again 7 and a half years later!

Best of luck with your new and impending arrivals! Flowers

mishmash33 · 18/02/2018 22:09

@Emcharlierush congratulations on the birth of your little one! I agree about the pain, sideways delivery was very painful! Well done on delivering with on only gas and air!! The birth will soon become a distant memory xx

AHungryMum · 19/02/2018 08:26

@Emcharlierush I'm sorry to hear it was so traumatic! It doesn't sound like the kind of birth anyone would have chosen...hope you are recovering well now (physically and emotionally) and that's it was all worth while once you got to hold your little one in your arms. 😍

AHungryMum · 19/02/2018 08:43

@ava1985 thank you for your kind reply! 😘 Any progress on yours yet!

Update from me - I'm feeling much better about it all now, I had to go back to the hospital on Saturday as they wanted to do another foetal monitoring scan a day later just to be on the safe side, we passed with flying colours (I think the baby was trying to do a triple axel in there, clearly she's been inspired by all the Winter Olympics I've been watching!) and my urine was fine. No glucose. It would seem therefore the likely culprit for the urine glucose on Friday was my ill advised Cadburys Fingers binge that afternoon! The midwife who dealt with me on Saturday also said my baby seemed to be a normal size, so I think the gestational diabetes/making my baby fat fear has now been laid to rest. 😊 She also spoke to me loads about the induction process, apparently I'm having something called propess first which aims to "mimic natural labour", so my fears that induction automatically equals a fast and savage labour may yet turn out to be unfounded and it may end up being no worse than if it was a normal labour. We also spoke loads about my fears of tearing, and she's reassured me that even with inductions and instrument deliveries, the risk of serious tearing is still statistically low, and also explained to me how following the instructions on how hard to push and when can really minimise the risk of tearing or the extent of tearing,

Overall I feel MUCH better now. It's good to talk. If any of you still yet to give birth get told you need to be induced then please don't do what I did and immediately assume the worst case scenario, talk through your fears with the midwife, it has really helped me. I think there's a lot of doom-monger into out there about inductions which doesn't help! Obviously we do need to hear the negative experiences too so we know the risks and are prepared, but I think it's important to hear the positive stories too.....

NoParticularPattern · 19/02/2018 11:56

Morning ladies! I hope you’re all settling well with your new little ones and those who are overdue aren’t too disheartened with it all!!

Em sorry it was all so traumatic for you!! I hope you’re recovering well and that newborn snuggles are making up for it all!

Ahungrymum I had very similar worries to you about being induced and ending up with a horribly fast and painful labour but that wasn’t my experience at all. I was induced with Propess at 11 days over and that was literally all I had (despite being told they would do that, then break my waters and then drip etc etc). They put it in at about 11am and by about 6-7pm I was increasingly aware of regular pains. My waters then went at 9pm ish in an aromatherapy bath (highly recommended by the way! I smelt nice if nothing else!!) and I was 4cm dilated at that point when I was examined and the pessary had come away with my waters. By the time they examined me an hour or so later on delivery suite I was 6cm so they were happy to let me progress without any further interventions and DD was born at 3.40am with only gas and air. There was talk of a Syntocinon drip if I didn’t progress, but it wasn’t needed and I had a straightforward delivery. I have a 2nd degree tear and some minor grazing but it hasn’t given me any problems other than the initial stinging when I went for a pee afterwards. I just feel a bit bruised and beaten up, but I guess that’s to be expected when you’ve just pushed nearly 9lbs of baby out of you!! I’m already thinking I’d be ok to do it again though so definitely not traumatised haha!!

AHungryMum · 19/02/2018 17:25

@NoParticularPattern - thank you for that! In the circumstances I'd ccinsider that a win right now...so fingers crossed I have a comparable experience.

KittyKat73 · 20/02/2018 10:45

Congratulations to everyone with their babies!

Due date is Thursday so still patiently waiting.

Did the mummies who have gave birth do anything in particular to get labour started or did it just happen when baby decided

Mrstobe90 · 20/02/2018 15:19

I had my baby a week early and the night before I went into labour, I bounced on my ball for hours, twiddling my nipples. Waters broke 8 hours later lol

Ava1985 · 21/02/2018 08:46

Congratulations on the newest arrivals! FlowersBear

My little bundle finally arrived safely yesterday in the pool at the hospital 😆 So relieved he's here and he's absolutely amazing! He was a big babe at over 9lb

Sending positive thoughts to you all and hope those awaiting induction get on well. Nearly there now! X

Mrstobe90 · 21/02/2018 16:28

Congratulations!! Xxx

cheshiremama89 · 21/02/2018 17:15

I walked up the stairs sideways the night before! Worked for me xx

AHungryMum · 22/02/2018 12:51

Second failed attempt at a sweep today. Midwife said she thinks it's unlikely based on the condition of my cervix that I will get started on my own without any help. Induction booked for next Tuesday. Hate the idea of being induced. Thoroughly miserable. 😔

AHungryMum · 22/02/2018 12:53

Ps they decided not to induce me on Tuesday this week as my foetal monitoring was fine, no more glucose in my urine, etc etc. No clear clinical case for inducing therefore. Time however is now running out...

pregz · 22/02/2018 13:04

Oh I'd love to join in here! 39+6 today with my first feeling absolutely terrified , a lot of little twinges and pulls here and there but nothing too major. So hoping for a feb baby but I imagine it will be March!

Feeling like I've been sent right back to the first trimester with exhaustion and nausea/hunger pangs! And my feet are about 3 times the size with swelling Sad

Loving reading everyone else's experiences and congratulations to those who have already welcomed their February babies! Grin

boopdoop · 22/02/2018 13:18

I'm due on sat, so 39+5 today, but currently sitting waiting for an elective c-section. Been waiting since 8am so v v bored, hungry and thirsty now! Don't know if it's a boy or girl so really excited to find out, hopefully soon.....

My DS was 10.7, and back to back, so ended up with CS with him, and didn't want to go overdue this time. Had sweep on tue, 1.5 hours of contractions on tue eve but then they calmed down and nothing since, so here we are!

SpottyBrolly · 25/02/2018 14:13

AHungryMum I was induced this week with my second at 39 +5, like you I was really nervous but as it turned out it was a really good experience. I only had the pessary, that was put in 2.30pm on Tuesday then went for a nice walk. The hospital I stayed in lets partners stay overnight, I'm not sure f that's standard. That evening we went out for a walk and a drink. My waters went at 3.45am on Wednesday morning and my baby girl arrived at 1.58pm with no intervention and not so much as a scratch for me. She latched on perfectly and I was discharged from the delivery suite.

Mrstobe90 · 25/02/2018 18:23

Congratulations! Xx

KittyKat73 · 26/02/2018 10:27

currently 40+4 due for a sweep on 28th. No signs that labour might be starting soon so think it could be a March baby for me!

Congrats Ava!

Pregz I know what you mean, everyone is telling me to stay active go walks etc but all i want to do is nap and put my swollen feet up.

AndBabyMakes3 · 26/02/2018 23:29

Baby is finally here and is doing great. But me not so good unfortunately! It's been a roller coaster of a week; met with the midwife on Tuesday 20th feb when I was at 41 weeks and talked about bringing me in for induction on Friday, did full check up and bloods and a sweep, baby's head was engaged but no real sign of labour starting so was sent home. Later on got a call to say I had ketones? in my blood so they wanted me in for induction that Tuesday night. Back into hospital, got the pessary (propess) put in at 7 pm to be checked in 24 hours. Got some dinner and went to bed; tried to sleep! Had some odd twinges through the night but nothing properly until (tmi) emptying my bowels Wednesday morning. Contractions started properly at 7 am; bounced on the birthing ball while waiting for husband to arrive. By 10 am I was in lots of pain so they examined me and announced I was in labour and got sent to the delivery suite after they removed the pessary. Contractions immediately lessened but still ongoing. Received the pethidine around 1pm ready for them to break my waters at 2pm but waters broke naturally at 1.10 before it kicked in and contractions started ramping up in intensity and dilating quickly. Lasted 2 hours before requesting epidural at ~5cm; best thing I ever did. Almost completely pain free; labour progressed until I dilated to 9cm with a few top ups of the epidural over the next few hours. From 7pm dilation slowed down; baby was doing fine but my blood pressure was up and then I ended up with blood in my urine and high levels of uric acid. By 10.30 pm it was obvious that labour wasn't going to progress further so I ended up going for emergency cesarean section and our wee girl arrived at 00.13 on Thursday morning 22-02-2018! Stressful but magical moment and definitely not what I would have planned but she is healthy and perfect. Husband got to bring her down to maternity while I got stitched up and he gave her her first feed and nappy change Smile and after some trickling bleeding while in recovery; I got to join them in maternity at 3am. The cesarean section wasn't as scary as I thought it would be; I was talked through every step along the way which was very reassuring and my wound is a lot smaller and neater than I expected it would be. Had some bruising/bleeding and an infection under the skin that was very painful but they put me on antibiotics straight away and regular pain medication and I'm due to get home tomorrow. Shock Grin So so excited and really looking forward to bringing our girl home and getting settled. Been waiting a long time for this and despite the rough pregnancy and the way she arrived; she is so completely worth it!! Hope all you ladies still waiting get your little bundles of joy really soon; they are worth waiting for! xx Flowers
