Hey everyone I thought I'd start a thread for September babies!

I've found out I was pregnant yesterday which was amazing! I'm a first time mum so I'm new to all of this, conceived cycle 2.

When should I contact GP to confirm pregnancy, has anyone got any advice this early on?

I got my 8 week scan today so scared really hope everything is ok 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Ktn35 · 22/01/2018 07:22

@toriah84 I have read that it’s fine!

Ladies I need help!! I am completely over-anxious and can’t stop testing. I am convinced every twinge and back ache is me losing it and I am terrified. I can’t go on like this!!!! Are any of the rest of you suffering from this? How are you dealing with it? My partner has two children already so has been through this before and clearly thinks I am insane!

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 07:31

@ktn35, back away from the tests, that is the first bit of advice. Second bit just to try and learn a way to calm yourself and relax, I know it’s much much easier said than done and I still have daily panics, but I have learnt to calm myself down so they aren’t as bad. What works for me is to take 5 mins out, but on some relaxing music and sit with my eyes closed and just breathe.

FWIW I am still getting daily cramps/twinges, their not as strong as they were at the beginning but their still there.

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 07:32

@helen290, good luck for today and let us know how it goes

Scoobysue10 · 22/01/2018 08:00

Good luck Helen290.
Bethe this wkend dragged for you, waiting for today. Love to hear how you get on. ☺

Scoobysue10 · 22/01/2018 08:02

Well I survived the horrible sickness bug I had all wkend. Thank god. It was horrible. Was due in work today but called in sick. Need to get food and fluids in me. So now have 5 days off work as not due back in till Saturday.

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 08:07

@scoobysue10, am glad you are starting to feel better, take the next 5 days to rest and build your strength back up

Scoobysue10 · 22/01/2018 09:00

Snowy1982.

Yes I will try. Had planned to tidy house this wkend as needs to go up for sale soon. Have become a hoalder due to unhappiness last few yrs.
My partner is coming down for a few days tomorrow. I will rest in between doing bits.

Helen290 · 22/01/2018 09:35

It went really well it's grown from 3.8mm to 17.3!! Exactly 8 weeks 2 days and they saw a heart beat all looking good couldn't be happier 🙂.

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 10:04

@helen290 that’s amazing, so happy for you Smile

At my scan last week they told me I could have one more while waiting on 12 week scan if I wanted. Had initially thought I wouldn’t bother, but as the week wore on I really think I want it now. If I go on the 1st feb (am off work that day) i’ll be 8 plus 5

Helen290 · 22/01/2018 10:11

@snowy1982 that's what happened to me I had the 6 week scan then they offered me another scan it's made me feel better 🙂, I'm hoping I can have my 12 week scan on my week off I'll be 11 weeks 6 days so just a bit short of 12 weeks difficult getting time off all the time from work. I have my midwife appointment today also 🙂.

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 10:33

I honestly think I got offered another because the clinic I had my IUI in really are interested in keeping in touch to see how it goes, this was NHS IUI so am sure they are supposed to limit the scans they offer but the midwife who does the treatments really seems to want me to have another scan.

Your all go with the appointments today. I still haven’t had my appointment letter for booking in or 12 week scan yet, am getting a little inpatient

missamy94 · 22/01/2018 13:56

I know you might not want to know this but I feel I need to share with people who have been in/May be in a similar situation......my nipples are hard and really dark and really hurting! Other than that and a bad back and minor nausea i havnt had any symptoms, also two lumps have appeared around my nipples after asking dr Google it seems these are normal ! I'm now at the stage (5+3) where I found out last time and then I miscarried at 5+6 so I've got everything crossed for this one!!

Ktn35 · 22/01/2018 16:07

Thanks Snowy ... it’s hard isn’t it! Been feeling Uber sick today and escaped work early ... I actually find the sickness reassuring which is weird! Glad all went well today Helen! Can’t wait to be a 8 weeks! X

Llondbol · 22/01/2018 16:40

So I've been for my follow up scan today and it was inconclusive again 😭 The gestational sac has grown, the yolk sac is there and the sonographer thought she could see the embryo but so small that I would be more like 6 weeks when we thought we were 7+6 today. I've got to go back again next week, meanwhile my pink discharge is worse and more bloody now so I'm not holding out to much hope.... Being in limbo is so tough. Is anyone else going through this?

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 17:04

I am sure it is so frustrating, but is the fact that the sac has grown, that the yolk sac and embryo are now visible means things are progressing not a good thing? Maybe your dates really are just messed up.

I feel for you I really do but I would try to see the positives in this Flowers

81louise · 22/01/2018 18:15

Yeah, we are 'officially' pregnant. Dr's test is back as we wen't getting a positive on with them, despite 5-6 positive home tests.

I have been told I am good to book in with the midwife, but I haven't been told how! Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Llondbol · 22/01/2018 18:25

Thanks @snowy1982 - going to try and focus on those positives; thanks for the encouragement, I need it x

Scoobysue10 · 22/01/2018 19:07

@Helen290 glad your scan went well.

snowy1982 · 22/01/2018 19:07

@81louise, I think it depends on where you are. Where I am we don’t go through GP at all, there is a form on line to self refer to midwife. Ring your GP surgery and ask the receptionist, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction

Helen290 · 23/01/2018 07:46

@Scoobysue10 thank you very much relieved now waiting for the next one lol.
Had my midwife appointment yesterday and you can take partners when I asked fertility yesterday they had no idea what I was talking about they had never heard of partners not being able to go.
My husband was there with me the whole time. 🙂

Scoobysue10 · 23/01/2018 09:15

Helen290.
I just want to know all is well with baby. That's my next worry, due to my age that something might not be quite right.

Maybe it's different depending on area. I don't know. I do find it rather odd they aren't aloud to attend. Glad your DH was with you. It's nice he wanted to be there and support for you to.

Marriageoftrueminds · 23/01/2018 09:55

Hi all, is anyone else experiencing bouts of bad cramping at night? I’ve had it twice now, woke me up both times, it’s really painful then just goes again. I’m really worried Astor nurse said she can’t think of a reason why that should be happening. I’m not bleeding x

snowy1982 · 23/01/2018 10:58

Hi all, is anyone else having problems with pooing? I know I mentioned this a wee bit last week, but I am getting more and more constipated and when I do go it’s more likely than not to hurt.
