Hey everyone I thought I'd start a thread for September babies!

I've found out I was pregnant yesterday which was amazing! I'm a first time mum so I'm new to all of this, conceived cycle 2.

When should I contact GP to confirm pregnancy, has anyone got any advice this early on?

@Scoobysue10 They like you to go to booking in alone so that they can speak to
you and make sure you aren't in an abusive relationship usually, and if you are to offer to appropriate support. You can speak freely if you're alone, you can't if there's a partner there.

I took my DH to my booking in (because I didn't know) when I was pregnant with my DD and they asked him to wait outside. There really isn't much point in them coming anyway, all they do is ask you a few questions, work out your dates, weigh you, dip your wee to check it's ok and give you your notes. You can't see or hear anything at this stage. Later midwife appointment you hear the heartbeat and might have blood taken. Actually you might have blood taken at booking in too - I can't actually remember!

DH isn't coming to my booking in next week, he's at work. He'll come to all the scans.

Bearlove · 19/01/2018 07:53

@Mangopassionfruit how are you feeling today, I'm about as far along as u and my symptoms have slowed down now, no cramping, boobs are sore but not as bad or I don't know if Iv just got used to it. I'm waking up at 4 every morning for a wee then takes a while to sleep again. Feeling a lil sick aswell. It's prob a good thing there isn't massive amounts of symptoms but I want to feel pregnant so I know it's ok

Helen290 · 19/01/2018 08:04

@Scoobysue10 I have already had a 6 week scan which was fine and I have my 8 week scan Monday also my midwife appointment if everything is ok. Partners are allowed to come to see the midwife.

Katsanddogs · 19/01/2018 08:12

Welcome louise. Sorry you've had such a long journey to get here and it's very strange that your doctor's tests are coming up negative. Maybe they've got a dodgy batch, it's normal for your hormones to fluctuate at this early stage too. But there's no such thing as a false positive and you can't get clearer than that digital so congratulations!! Hoping it's a sticky one for you.

Mangopassionfruit · 19/01/2018 08:21

@bearlove it’s so weird isn’t it?! some boob and back ache came back last night and did clear blue digital this morning which said 2-3 weeks so taking that as a good sign. I am also waking at 4am how weird, was feeling really sick between 4-5 this morning but managed to get back to sleep and then woke up feeling ok... such strange early days!! Think will book an early scan for my 8th week which is half term (I’m a teacher).

Thanks for info about booking appointment @theblindspot, don’t want a wasted journey for partner!!

snowy1982 · 19/01/2018 09:20

So just went to shop and came back with a back of mini eggs, i’m telling (trying to convince myself) that baby really really wanted them and i’m not just being a greedy bitch Smile

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 09:25

Helen290. Hoping all is well for you Monday. I have my 12 wk scan on 23rd Feb.
I went to all my midwife appointments with previous two pregnancies on my own as husband wasn't bothered.
My partner wanystagmus of be there for everything. I will ring them today and ask if he can be there.

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 09:26

Snowy1982. Lol. That was my excuse last night when eating Jam Swissrole. Lol

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 09:30

TheBlindspot, thanks for info.
The husband never wanted to come to midwife appointments when I had my first two pregnancies. But my partner wants to be there for everything so I will give the midwife team a ring and ask if he can be there.

PassTheAfterEights · 19/01/2018 09:52

@nk1605 so glad you should have some reassurance on the way after your mc, fx for you and the bloods. Managed not to test yesterday & today telling myself that 1 squinter and 3x BFP's + no AF = pregnant, but the temptation of those last two little FRER's...!

Have booking in appt on 1 Feb at 6 weeks so no idea when first NHS scan will land. How soon can we justify a private scan? Only goal is reassurance / indulging our excitement and a photo for the DP's and DPIL's I suppose. Don't want to pay deposit before the booking in appt in case all goes wrong and no point if the NHS scan will only be a few days later but assuming it's a long wait - is 6 weeks realistic, or 7, or 8 better?

Also - the site I looked at mentioned an internal vaginal scan, necessary at this stage for proper view - true story? Better get used to it now I guess but eek 😨

snowy1982 · 19/01/2018 09:58

@passtheaftereights, I had a scan at 6 plus 3 and saw heartbeat but sometimes that is too early so if you can maybe hold off to week 7. NHS scan is supposed to be at week 12, although I think realistically it can be anywhere from 10-14 weeks depending on how busy they are, but it won’t be a couple days after your booking in appointment if it’s at 6 weeks.

snowy1982 · 19/01/2018 09:59

@scoobysue10 is was worth every last egg Smile.

I didn’t realise DH wouldn’t be allowed at booking in either, he’s going to be quite disappointed if that’s the case, he is really keen to be involved in everything. I haven’t had my appointment letter through yet so maybe it’s different here

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 10:16

Snowy1982 glad you enjoyed them for the babys sake of course. Wink

I phoned midwife team. She said my partner can come along but he will have to leave the room whilst they ask personal questions. She then tried to justify it saying it's alot of form filling which is quite boring.

So i'might sure your DH can attend yours too.

Helen290 · 19/01/2018 11:14

@snowy1982 I say enjoy it :-), I use to love sweet things but since my nausea I can't bare the thought of it lol I seem to crave savoury things more at the moment like cheese!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Helen290 · 19/01/2018 11:17

@Scoobysue10 yeh I didn't realise that, that's nice he wants to be so involved 🙂.
I know I'll be glad when it's Monday just hope it's good news 🤞🏻, I haven't booked my 12 week scan yet but I wanna try and get it for the 16th I know that's a bit earlier but I have that week off work so it's easier then asking to leave work so often just hope I get to that point trying to stay positive.

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 11:44

Snowy 1982. It is. So used to doing everything on my own as my husband has never really helped or gotten involved in anything unfortunately.
But my partner has decided not to come to my booking in appointment.
Can't wait for my 12 wk scan and bloods to know that all is well with baby.

As that is my next worry.
Well having a good day today and just attacked a packet of lovely biscuits.

PassTheAfterEights · 19/01/2018 11:59

Thanks @snowy1982 then think as long as booking in appt confirms all well it might be worth booking for 9th Feb (7+1) for a bit of fun to tide us over to NHS scan!

I know I'm being a baby but - do they really have to go 'up'?! wishes to postpone introduction of foof to many many strangers as long as poss

snowy1982 · 19/01/2018 12:21

@passtheaftereights, do you mean a transvaginal scan? I don’t know about 7 weeks plus but at mine (6+3) they did so I would assume at 7 weeks it is still prob the best option.

TV scans are very easy though, I know the idea of them isn’t pleasant, but their grand. I conceived after 8 rounds of IUI i’m used to all sorts going up there now. A good sonographer won’t even need to look while they do it, mine (although she was actually a midwife not a sonographer) never had to look at what she was doing when doing scans, she always looked at the screen even when inserting the wand, so it’s felt a bit more private

TheBlindspot · 19/01/2018 13:42

If it makes you feel better @PassTheAfterEights as long as you have a straightforward pregnancy it's unlikely you need any intimate examinations until birth (aside from the tv scan). I expected to be examined all the time first time round - not sure why I just thought you were - and I didn't get examined once. The first time I had anything like that was when I was admitted in labour.

Also the tv scan is fine. They lubricate it well - wear a sanitary towel to catch any of the gel left afterwards, it's a bit messy. It looks huge when they bring it in, but they only use the little end bit, not the whole wand!

nk1605 · 19/01/2018 13:57

@PassTheAfterEights I got my second blood test result. Hcg 28 on Monday and 136 on Thursday. So so happy!! Just have to wait now on my letter to confirm when my booking in appointment is 😊

ThorsMistress · 19/01/2018 14:02

Hi ladies.

Got my first appointment with my midwife February 15th. It can’t come soon enough as I don’t seem to have any symptoms now and I’m still experiencing cramps.

I’ve seen previous comments about partners not being able to come?

nk1605 · 19/01/2018 14:16

@ThorsMistress i remember with my first in 2015 my partner was allowed to come with me but when I was taken to have questions asked, he was asked to leave. Some of the questions can be quite sensitive for some people. But any scans, my partner was allowed.

Bearlove · 19/01/2018 16:10

@Mangopassionfruit yep exactly the same as me! Iv got a heavy feeling in my womb now, well I feel so bloated aswell! I'm so scared of loosing it! I think I'm 4-5 weeks and this is the worst time apparently 😩😩. I'm guna have an early scan aswell I think

ThorsMistress · 19/01/2018 16:19

@nk1605 Thank you. It’s been 6 years since I’ve had to do this all over!

81louise · 19/01/2018 16:42

Thanks @Katsanddogs. I just feel like I am not being believed. Drs have not got the other tests back yet, it will be Monday now.
But I suppose it will not change the outcome by them not booking me in for a few weeks, I am not going to miss anything. My Dr has given me vit D and I am already on folic acid, so all that can be done, is being done.

My OH said the same, that the digital one doesn't really leave any questions.
