Hey everyone I thought I'd start a thread for September babies!

I've found out I was pregnant yesterday which was amazing! I'm a first time mum so I'm new to all of this, conceived cycle 2.

When should I contact GP to confirm pregnancy, has anyone got any advice this early on?

Thank you @PassTheAfterEights 🤞

nk1605 · 18/01/2018 17:21

@PassTheAfterEights I hear ya on the testing!! I have done 3 frers since Sunday and countless Internet cheapies. When I ran out of those I even started to use my left over OPKs....I can't stop!! So worried after mc last month I'm paranoid about continuing to poas. I had another blood test done today so once I get those results I'm going to have to stop and just relax (easier said than done I know!)

polkadotpixie · 18/01/2018 17:22

@samanthajonespr I had loads of cramping around the 4 week mark, I was convinced AF would show at any moment. I still have some cramps but it's eased off a bit now (I'm 5w2d)

niclw · 18/01/2018 17:25

I'm six weeks today or tomorrow (not sure how it's worked out with iui). Touch wood, I've had no nausea or sickness so far. Was very glad this morning after a very very long journey to work through a diversion and gridlocked streets. I don't know how I would have coped if I had. Very painful waiting to pee though. I had to wait 2 hours. Might have to stay home if they close the bridge again while I'm pregnant as I don't think my bladder will cope.

Brownbear84 · 18/01/2018 17:26

What shows on an ovulation stick if your pregnant??

Katsanddogs · 18/01/2018 17:35

I've had nausea from about 5dpo! 😂 it's possible I'm actually 7 weeks not 5 which would explain it but i think I'm just unlucky. It had eased off this week and started to worry me but I as soon as the smell of the inside of the fridge hit me I promptly vomitted everywhere! Pure brilliance.

Brownbear84 · 18/01/2018 17:41

Just done an ovulation test so I guess it shows as positive as it would a pregnancy test! Still doesn't feel real so glad I found this out as I've a pack of 5 of these xx

OPKs will show positive if you are pregnant most of the time. Because hcg is so similar to LH. (But only a pregnancy test will pick up hcg) it's just another excuse for me to pee on just about any stick I have going!

Here's an explanation from a website I found ages ago :

Overall-- yes, it can be done. Ovulation predictor tests (known as OPK's because they are normally sold in a set of tests known as a "kit," thus the K) will show a positive result when a woman is pregnant, as well as when she's ovulating.

Specifically-- while it works most of the time, there are good reasons to avoid using an OPK as an HPT for diagnostic purposes. If you want to pee on any stick that will stand still after you know you're pregnant, just for fun, have at it. But I would not recommend using an OPK in place of an HPT overall.

Reasoning-- OPK's detect LH (luteinizing hormone) which is the hormone associated with ovulation. Pregnancy tests detect hCG, the hormone associated with pregnancy. LH and hCG are, at a molecular level, nearly identical. hCG has a beta subunit, meaning it has an extra little "doodad." To use a stupid but easy to understand example, LH and hCG are identical twins, except that hCG wears a funny hat.

@Scoobysue10 I have tried sprite and ginger biscuits I found it helped sometimes more in the evening as in the morning I can't stomach it I can't eat anything. But since yesterday I have only really had it in the morning.

Mangopassionfruit · 18/01/2018 18:25

My symptoms all seem to have gone and I’m panicking! 4+3 today... no backache/cramping/sore boobs today :-(
Feeling tired but that’s probably because I’ve had a long day.... got a clear blue digital to do in the morning - was meant to do it this morning but went for a wee at 4.30 and so didn’t want to do it with weak wee at 6!!!! I’m driving myself mad!!!!

Helen290 · 18/01/2018 18:27

@Scoobysue10 are you still getting cramping occasionally?

Tinkerbelle568 · 18/01/2018 18:28

Hello,
I just found out I'm pregnant. Calculated due date is 17th September.
I discussed having a baby with my partner of nearly 2 years a month ago. We decided it was a bad time. He lives 3 hours away, travels abroad for his job and I am at college. Well turns out that not long after that conversation I have conceived. How do I tell my partner. I'm excited but extremely nervous about telling him when it was ononly a month ago we agreed to wait till I had finished college. He knows im late and knows I've been having cramps but I said that's just pre menstrual cramps :/.

cakeanytype · 18/01/2018 18:46

Tinker bell.... 🤗 congratulations! Just tell him outright ... what other way is there? You will work it out .. life is a test ... that baby is a blessing. ❤️

Tinkerbelle568 · 18/01/2018 19:17

Thankyou I told him. He's taken it better than I thought. And I'm seeing him this weekend so we will discuss it properly :)

Vap0 · 18/01/2018 19:25

Congratulations Tinkerbell

Same due date as me Grin

Tinkerbelle568 · 18/01/2018 19:37

That's the exact same as me. I found out today. I'm 5w3d eeeekkkk. Just told my partner x

Tinkerbelle568 · 18/01/2018 19:38

Also congratulations. I wish you all the best. Is this your first? X

MissSophieB397 · 18/01/2018 20:23

@Tinkerbelle568 same situation as Im in! my partner starts his new university in September and it's 2 hours away from me and it's not he best circumstances but it'll all work out, I'm nervous but excited to have a little bundle of joy in my life x

Scoobysue10 · 18/01/2018 21:12

Tinkerbelle. You will find a way to work it out.
My situation is far from ideal. My partner lives about a 2 and a half hrs drive away. I am currently going through a divorce and still living with the husband. Life throws these tests at us sometimes and you just have to except it and work out the best solution .

Scoobysue10 · 18/01/2018 21:13

Helen290 the cramping seems to have stopped. Last had slight cramping at the wkend. Are you still having regular cramping.

81louise · 18/01/2018 23:20

We have been trying for 4+ years, were referred to the fertility clinic in December, and have a whole host of tests booked for next week.

On Friday we got a very faint ( evening pee) positive. Tested again over the weekend and got more BFP with two different tests.

So I have had 5 positive tests Since last Friday. By Luck I was at the Drs on Monday, he did 2 tests but they were negative, so I have had to go back today with a sample, and that is negative today. They are sending it off to get tested too.

I made my OH drive and get a digital one, which says 1-2 weeks.
I just feel in limbo. We would be due the 23rd.

@Scoobysue10 yeh occasional cramping most days usually in the morning mostly or if I go toilet but I have had that since I found out I was pregnant some days are more then others, when I saw fertility they said I'm just very sensitive to the rise is progesterone and apparently after 8 weeks it should decrease but I know some people still having it at 13 weeks, everyone is different I guess.

hayz35 · 19/01/2018 06:46

Hello! I'm a bit late to the party! I'm due on 17th Sept. I have 2 girls 8 & 6 and I never thought I'd have anymore but then out of the blue just had this overwhelming want to do it all one more time...and here I am Smile

Scoobysue10 · 19/01/2018 06:51

Helen290. Sure everything is fine. Have you got a date for your scan yet as that will reassure you all is well.
Got my appointment for midwife next wk but states to go alone. My partner really wants to be there for all my appointments. Will ring them today and ask if he can attend, can't see why not really.
Surprising how having a bad nights sleep really affects me the next day. Have noticed those are the days I tend to feel ill.
Slept better last night and alot better today.
