We did boiled water with brown sugar in for constipation and that worked well!

mrsjkerry · 02/12/2017 12:03

We did both of those things! She screamed all night and didn't pop 😢

ew1990 · 02/12/2017 12:25

Could it be trapped wind, we've had a couple of nights where she's screamed all night but we've put some colic drops in her bottle and it's really helped

TheLionQueen1 · 02/12/2017 16:05

Have you tried infacol?

We're on lactose free milk now because DS has an intolerance, he much better in himself and his poo but he's sick all the time now and wasn't before!

TheLionQueen1 · 02/12/2017 16:06

There's also normal formula you can buy which is for constipation and colic which we tried before realising that you could give a go?

mrsjkerry · 02/12/2017 17:05

Thanks @TheLionQueen1 I'll look it up

NC1990 · 02/12/2017 21:07

My baby hasn't slept since 1pm today and has screamed and fussed non-stop. She's like this pretty much every day and doesn't settle at night either. I am at my absolute wits end, I didn't think I would struggle this much. I feel like such a failure and just want to get in the car and keep driving. DH usually takes her for a few hours in the evening to give me a break but I dread him bringing her back to me so much that it stops me from sleeping. Really hoping this passes as not sure I can cope with another 2/3 months of this.

Sorry for the moan, having a particularly bad day and just needed to write it down. I hate feeling like this 😞😢

lydiangel83 · 02/12/2017 21:42

@NC1990 we have the same situation and
DH and I constantly bickering because I don’t think he helps enough. Away 3 nights at my parents, first trip away since she was born 4.5 wks ago and also stressful because getting lots of opinions on parenting from my mum and family members. Anyway probably doesn’t help but remember you’re not alone. I’m hoping this horrible phase will pass!

@NC1990 @lydiangel83 your not alone, from 11am till 9pm my LO had about an hours sleep and that's only coz she was lay on my chest. She's currently stirring now after being asleep for 2 hours.

NC1990 · 03/12/2017 00:37

@lydiangel83 @ew1990 thanks ladies it helps to know I'm not alone, although obviously not good that your LOs are the same! It's so horrible seeing them so distressed and not being able to help.

My DH has been amazing and takes her when he can, but I feel so guilty as he's working, looking after the dogs and doing all the housework/cooking etc. I know he doesn't mind though. I was an awful colicky baby and my parents keeps reassuring me that it does get better, but the 12-week mark seems so far away right now (DD was 3 weeks old yesterday). She's finally gone to sleep on my chest so just going to leave her be for a while to save my sanity 😬

mrsjkerry · 04/12/2017 17:30

How much do your babies sleep? Mine has been asleep practically all day...

ew1990 · 04/12/2017 18:32

@mrsjkerry how old is she?

mrsjkerry · 04/12/2017 18:40

2weeks and one day

ew1990 · 04/12/2017 19:01

Newborns do sleep a lot, is she feeding well? At 2 weeks if izzy wasn't feeding she was asleep, she's just started to be awake more during the day now after her feeds and she was a month old yesterday x

TheLionQueen1 · 04/12/2017 22:48

Yep jack literally only woke up to feed for about 4 weeks, even when we took him to a party!

lydiangel83 · 05/12/2017 21:53

Is anyone using a dummy and if so from what age? Is 5 wks too young if breastfeeding, I’m worried about nipple confusion!!

OP posts:
ew1990 · 05/12/2017 22:02

@lydiangel83 I use one but no longer breastfeeding, she doesn't need it to go to sleep it just settles her sometimes. I don't know wether your LO will be the same but when she's hungry she spits it out.

NC1990 · 06/12/2017 20:34

I've tried my LO with a dummy (she fusses and whinges all day long) but she just spits it out 😞 I see so many happy little bubs sucking on their dummies and then there is mine, crying for the 12354334th time that day 😩

NC1990 · 06/12/2017 23:40

Does anyone else's baby cry absolutely all the time? It's been 4 days now of constant screaming, all day every day. Nothing will stop it and it's really getting me down, I can't take her anywhere cos she just screams and screams and screams. Feel like the worst mum in the world 😞

ew1990 · 06/12/2017 23:52

@NC1990 your not!! Have you seen GP or HV? Could be silent reflux x

NC1990 · 07/12/2017 08:57

Going to phone the HV this morning and ask her advice, she was a bit dismissive last time I spoke to her which was discouraging. Just wish I could comfort my miserable little baby, she seems so uncomfortable 😣 even took her to a chiropractor on Monday in an act of desperation but no luck!

TheLionQueen1 · 07/12/2017 10:12

@NC1990 is she just crying or does she look like she's in pain I.e red faced, legs scrunched up or struggling to go to the loo?

Bobbiepin · 07/12/2017 10:43

Hi girls, just caught up on like 7 pages of the thread, not sure where it went but wasn't on my regulars page.

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling, this motherhood lark is so difficult isn't it? I'm convinced it would all be so much easier if we could get a proper nights sleep, but that's unlikely isnt it?

We're combination feeding Lydia, she has boob during the day and a bottle of formula at about 11. Takes about 3 hours and more boob to settle her after that but the formula fills her up so we get a longer stretch between feeds. From 3pm onwards she feeds almost every hour so I'm exhausted! She's finally putting on weight which is good news, took her 3 weeks to regain her birth weight, that was a real challenging time.

NC1990 · 07/12/2017 12:14

@TheLionQueen1 she arches her back, throws her head back and tries to chew her hands along with screwing up her face after a feed, so so I think she is in pain I just wish I knew what was causing it 😞 We've tried Infacol which didn't make any difference. Just not sure if it's silent reflux, colic, CMP intolerance, trapped wind or if I simply have a fussy baby!

She has never been a great sleeper (she's 4 weeks old tomorrow) but 9 times out of 10 would fall asleep after a feed and settle, now it seems to be causing her so much distress but she's still desperate to feed all the time. I do it but then I think maybe it's making it worse especially if she has reflux. It's so hard to know what to do for the best!

lydiangel83 · 07/12/2017 14:57

Oh @NC1990 I feel for you it’s so sad isn’t it? I’ve been on the edge after an afternoon of crying so imagine it is tough for you too xx

@Bobbiepin the thing with what idea is still wake up full during the night and need to express anyway so not sure if would help?

This mothering lark is soooo hard!!

I’ve got a big dilemma. Any advice welcome now we are all mums. My best friend ever (closer than my sister) is getting married in Sri Lanka in jan. It’s not mega happy circumstances (she’s not sure she is making the right choice) and I desperately want to go and support her. I need to decide soon if I am going. Baby will be 10 weeks old. Her dad my DH would stay home and look after her for 3 nights. Is it too much / too bad for me to go? I’d have to express whilst away and she would have defrosted EBM and possibly formula. She happily takes bottle and daddy feeds her now. No idea what to do. I know I’ll be upset to be away from her but I also cry at the thought of missing supporting my friend through her wedding.
