Anyone else's baby suffering with reflux??

NC1990 · 20/01/2018 14:42

@mrsjkerry yes my lo has suffered with it since 3 weeks old (she's 10 weeks now). She's on ranitidine which does seem to have helped, she's happy to lie on her back now whereas before she hated it. Some days better than others though!

mrsjkerry · 20/01/2018 16:04

What do you do @NC1990 !!?? She screams if you try and feed her....and then screams more the hungrier she gets. I'm at my wits end.

mrsjkerry · 20/01/2018 16:04

I should mention we've been prescribed Baby gaviscon but doesn't seem to be having an effect...

NC1990 · 21/01/2018 10:04

@mrsjkerry I sympathise completely, it's awful! Ranitidine has definitely helped us though, may be worth trying to get GP to prescribe it? Gaviscon made DD very constipated so we had to stop using it quite quickly.

lydiangel83 · 23/01/2018 04:51

@mrsjkerry we found gaviscon made her a bit constipated but better at lying down and feeding than without it - our experience was similar to yours. GP wasn't interested at all and said probably wind, I think silent reflux tho. Good luck!

Hi ladies, how is everyone doing?

Has anyone else's baby's sleep gone to crap when they hit 11/12 weeks? DD was sleeping in good 5-hour chunks up until last week and she's now gone back to waking every 2 hours like clockwork during the night. She does do a longer stretch at the start of the night (8.30-2ish usually) but is then awake at 2, 4, 6 etc. She's not in a leap according to Wonder Weeks, wondering if it's a growth spurt. I'm so gutted as was finally beginning to feel rested and thought we still had a good month till the dreaded sleep regression!

The only thing that saves me from cracking up is that she goes straight back to sleep after she's Feds don't need to settle her at all really. She's EBF and I know it's totally normal for bf babies in particular to waken more frequently, but I was really enjoying those longer stretches! 😩

ew1990 · 31/01/2018 06:51

@NC1990 DD is formula fed and is 12 week old and has gone like a newborn waking every 3 hours at night, she's in a leap though as she was a week early but it's been like this now for the past week, I have to nap in the day as I get like 4 hours sleep at night in between feeds

NC1990 · 31/01/2018 08:41

@ew1990 that's not great for you but does make me feel a bit better that it isn't just mine! DD wakes up smiling and giggling in the morning whereas I wake up feeling like I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson 😭 my mum is coming round later, might try a nap then.

ew1990 · 31/01/2018 12:24

I know how you feel!! Hopefully it will get better soon, I'm dreading leap 4 it goes on for ages!!

lydiangel83 · 01/02/2018 20:18

@NC1990 omg yes and everyone around me seems to have better sleepers :( I think it's a combination of bad reflux plus growth spurt. Hoping to go back to doctors as I can't take it much more!

@lydiangel83 yep it's incredibly frustrating. DD had slept right through the last 3 nights but having a truly horrible night tonight. I went out for dinner with a friend and had dairy (which I've cut out the last few weeks to try to help her fussiness) and it could be a total coincidence but she's been up all night fussing and crying and just won't sleep. Not had a night like this since she was a newborn.

NC1990 · 04/02/2018 14:52

Just had our first stranger-touching-the-baby situation 😱 was a sweet older lady that I was making small talk with in Asda, before I could say anything she had her hand in the carrycot and was touching DD's face 😬😬😬 why do people do this!?!

ew1990 · 04/02/2018 15:14

@NC1990 I've not had that yet, wouldn't know what to do,

lydiangel83 · 05/02/2018 01:21

@Bobbiepin here we are :)

@NC1990 that's a shame I feel for you with the newborn sleeping :-/ we have horrific screaming, DH heard it for first time today and thought we should go to hospital :-( I think I have got used to it :-(

Yes have had a lot of strangers grab hands / face, I think it's a generational thing where it was acceptable for older people to do that!

ew1990 · 05/02/2018 12:16

@NC1990 I don't wanna jinx it but DD has slept through the last 2 nights! I feel like a new women, enjoying it whilst it lasts

lydiangel83 · 07/02/2018 02:32

Anyone else on a ranitidine / gaviscon reflux combo?

OP posts:
mrsjkerry · 08/02/2018 13:39

@lydiangel83 we are on ranitidine only. It was my understanding it was one or the other not both!?

NC1990 · 09/02/2018 05:18

We are on ranitidine only as well. So depressed about being back to waking every 2 hours at night, we had three or four nights of blissful sleeping through from 8.30-6.30 and I felt back to myself again but unfortunately it was very short-lived and now I'm permanently exhausted again. Up feeding just now for the third time tonight.

cheshiremama89 · 09/02/2018 05:28

Hi all

Can I join?
Had our first baby on Saturday, after a bad labour.

Currently feeling very emotional and a bit overwhelmed with the visitor(overbearing relatives) no sleep, constant breastfeeding situation xx

NC1990 · 09/02/2018 19:21

Congratulations on the birth of your baby @cheshiremama89 Smile is it a little boy or girl? Sorry to hear you didn't have a great labour and hope you feel better soon. The first week is certainly a whirlwind, I cried through pretty much all of it! X

ew1990 · 09/02/2018 20:25

@cheshiremama89 welcome and congratulations, I have no memory of the first week it was all a blur,

DD has been so cranky today, constant crying and chewing anything she can get her hands on

cheshiremama89 · 10/02/2018 16:06

@NC1990 little boy!
Baby blues have definitely kicked in! Sad

Leaving the house for the first time tonight to go round to family for a Chinese.

Feeling pretty anxious about it x

lydiangel83 · 11/02/2018 07:29

@mrsjkerry @NC1990 we were told by one GP to phase it out and another to keep it going if we want, it does different things to ranitidine so kept them both going. Lots of friends/ randoms/ health visitor have suggested I try going dairy free but I really don't want to as already vegetarian (have been for 20 years) but hoping for paediatric appt soon so will ask them
