I can see DDs top teeth 😢

Squigglefish · 08/01/2018 20:49

Oh god....Eve had her 8w immunisations today. I woke her for her 8pm feed and she's screamed since. She won't feed and won't stop crying. I've given the Calpol as directed and she's not due another dose until 9.30pm. Is this normal? I dont know what to do with her ☹

lydiangel83 · 08/01/2018 21:03

Thanks @Bobbiepin good idea will give it a try. I have a blocked duct again, if it turns in to mastitis it will literally break me :-/

@Squigglefish sorry to hear that, just lots of cuddles was only thing I could do. It is hard tho.

I'm feeling sorry for myself as have been told broken coccyx may not get better :-(

Squigglefish · 08/01/2018 21:26

Oh no, was that a birth injury @lydiangel83?

ew1990 · 08/01/2018 21:27

@Squigglefish DD had her first jabs today too, she woke at 8 for a feed and just screamed, the bottle calmed her down though and then I gave her calpol and just let her sleep on my chest till she was in a deep sleep to move her

Squigglefish · 08/01/2018 21:49

@ew1990 isnt it awful? She didn't take her feed at all so will be hungry. I wish she would feed so it would relax her.
Should they feel better by tomorrow?

Bobbiepin · 08/01/2018 22:00

@squigglefish @ew1990 its all totally normal, even if it is horrible. It's the meningitis B one that does it, it's a horrible vaccine. When DD had hers she would scream non stop, no whimpering or anything when she woke up like normal, just full on wailing. Only think that worked with us was skin to skin in the sling. I had no top on and her in just a vest. She was upset for about 6 hours but was mostly back to her usual self by the next day. Thinking of you all tonight x

ew1990 · 08/01/2018 22:03

Thanks Bobbie, the scream when she had the jabs was heartbreaking, she's fast asleep now though, as I said above I can see her top teeth so don't know wether that's hurting too

Squigglefish · 08/01/2018 22:32

@Bobbiepin thank you. I didn't realise it would affect her so much. Last dose of Calpol given, hoping she will settle to sleep now.
Did your baby get an upset tummy from the Rotarix syrup?

Bobbiepin · 08/01/2018 23:27

No problem, I had mum friends tell me they were considering not having the menB vaccine because it's so tough on them but I'm very pro vaccinations and wouldn't stop that protection. They bounce back so quickly and I'm hoping the next set (we've got next week) won't be as bad because there's no menB in that one.

@squigglefish no, no upset tummy although we were warned to expect it. DD produces a spectacular amount of dirty nappies anyway so no change there. We were very careful about anti bac-ing our hands and wiping down her change mat for a couple of days which might have helped (or not, who knows).

@ew1990 the only thing I can suggest is keep up with the Calpol and if she's still unsettled in a day or 2 it might be teeth. Has she got any other symptoms of teething?

ew1990 · 09/01/2018 00:36

@Bobbiepin I noticed them yesterday, she's chewing her hand and my shoulder when I wind her and she's drooling loads, cheeks a bit red but don't know wether that's from today, spoke to the nurse today and she said sounds like teething but they can take ages to cut through

lydiangel83 · 09/01/2018 00:43

@Squigglefish yep happened during forceps delivery :(

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 09/01/2018 05:51

@lydiangel83 That's awful, I had no idea that could even happen. Is there anything you can do to manage it?

@squigglefish poor LO, I'm dreading teething, I hope it's gentle for you both.

How was your night?

lydiangel83 · 09/01/2018 08:56

@Bobbiepin sit on a special cushion and then have a horrible operation to manually move bone in to place which may or may not work :( I think I'll be bed bound after that for a while so not sure when I can do it but needs to be before bones fuse in the wrong place!

Bobbiepin · 09/01/2018 09:56

Oh you poor thing, that sounds absolutely brutal. What a hero you are for persevering with it all!

NC1990 · 11/01/2018 21:26

@ew1990 I have the same with my LO right now, she's constantly sucking on her hands, drooling, rosy cheeks and trying to sook on my clothes/muslins etc. God, hope it's not teething yet!

Had vaccinations yesterday and she was a dream afterwards, it was the first evening in weeks that DH and I got some peace! She was out cold all evening. Unfortunately she has resumed normal whinging today, would it be wrong to request jabs everyday?! 😄😬

ew1990 · 11/01/2018 21:36

NC DD was so unsettled she just cried when she was awake it broke my heart, but she did sleep better that usual too, but she was her usual self the next day, did you give her calpol?

lydiangel83 · 14/01/2018 03:44

I'm having naming regrets, we were going to give Liliana a second name of Rose but didn't because it is my mums name and didn't want to upset mother in law even though we liked it as a name anyway regardless of it being my mums name. I don't want to change by deed poll or anything and give DD extra admin for the rest of her life but just one of those things I suppose! Anyone sleeping through the night yet!? We have had a few 5 hr stretches which feels dreamy!

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 14/01/2018 07:59

Are you going with Rose then @lydiangel83? Guessing by the time of your post you were up for a feed.

DD has been pretty good at sleeping. She doesn't nap well during the day unless it's on me or walking in the pram (she wakes up as soon as we stop) but after we give her the night time bottle she sleeps for about 7 hours, wakes up for a feed and generally (not always) going back down for an hour or 2 after that. She's currently in a light sleep cycle in her basket & I'm praying she drops off! DH's snoring definitely won't help matters though.

ew1990 · 14/01/2018 13:50

@Bobbiepin I could've wrote your post about the sleep, my DD is exactly the same, she's currently lay on her mat playing but she will only go to sleep if I pick her up and lay her on me, but at night she will do a stretch in her cot

Bobbiepin · 14/01/2018 16:46

Haha I sometimes feel guilty talking about her because she's a really chilled out happy baby and I know my friends with babies are having a tough time with them.

She didn't go back to sleep earlier, DH'a snoring woke her up. She ended up napping on me.

lydiangel83 · 15/01/2018 02:43

@Bobbiepin @ew1990 we have the same, will not sleep during day unless on someone or out for a walk or in the sling. But we are starting to regularly get a 5 hr stretch and then a broken 2-3 hrs but I'll take that! I do worry she isn't sleeping enough though, no way near the 14-16 hrs my book says she should be getting and poor little mite looks tired with big bags under her eyes!

@Bobbiepin my DH was not interested in discussing middle name at all but I will see if I can work on him!

@Bobbiepin my DH was not interested in discussing middle name at all but I will see if I can work on him! At the moment her middle name is my surname ie Liliana - my surname - his surname as actual surname. Just realised on paperwork that then it says forenames it will always look weird that she has Liliana my surname as her forenames. It is not pretty as such as I think Rose between the two words would be nicer and more of a proper middle name. Plus we hadn't thought through the fact that if we have more kids what would their middle name be!? Just my surname too?! Wish we weren't so sleep deprived when choosing names in the early days!

OP posts:
lydiangel83 · 15/01/2018 02:46

Oops sorry for all the accidental bold!

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 16/01/2018 03:40

I see what you mean, would you consider a double barreled surname so you then get Rose as a middle name?

I've had a shit night so far with DD. We tried upping the amount in her bottle which meant moving to the big bottles and its all gone to shit. I think there's too much air in it because she took an ounce then screamed for an hour, had 2 boob feeds (sleeping on me in between but waking up when I put her down), pooped so much it escaped the nappy and needed a full change of clothes. Eventually made a feed in the small bottle and she's had 2 ounces and is asleep on me. If she doesn't go down now I'll get no sleep tonight. She's got her 2nd lot of vaccinations in the morning so I doubt I'll even get a nap tomorrow. Poor DH was off work with a migraine today and has resorted to sleeping on the sofa.
