@DarcyParty haha! That does sound promising though, got everything crossed for you!
@mrsjkerry my baby is doing the same with the pushing, just wish she'd start to push herself out 😂

Got another check up tomorrow, will try the sweep again, if not then it looks like it'll be the weekend for us.

mrsjkerry · 08/11/2017 20:50

I’m sure they’ll offer me the sweep tomorrow. But we’ve been doing the whole Ina May Gaskin natural birth thing, so seems a bit contradictory to try and push baby before she may be ready...

@mrsjkerry we’ve done hypnobirthing so feel the same as you re. intervention. Midwife told us two weeks ago that I could book my first sweep for 41+5 if I wanted, so that’s what we’ve done.

mrsjkerry · 09/11/2017 19:04

Had my 40week appnt today. Baby was less engaged than last time! Really disheartening. They also refused to check my cervix. Told me to book a sweep for 41 weeks.

However I was also hooked up to the continuous monitor because baby’s heart rate was high! I am only just home now and exhausted 😢 just want my baby here

Ahhh @mrsjkerry it sounds like you've had a hard day, hope you manage to get some rest tonight, sending hugs.....

Squigglefish · 09/11/2017 22:30

@mrsjkerry bless you, your baby will be here soon. These last few weeks seem to drag don't they? Hope you have a nice sleep and feel better tomorrow.

Had my 41 week check today, no changes so induction over the weekend. I too am ready for my baby.

@DarcyParty how are you?

Jessiecat27 · 10/11/2017 01:28

Due a week today and I've caught a cold! Was hoping he would make an early appearance but now I'm hoping he stays put until it's gone! Don't like the idea of labour whilst I have a cold 🙈

DarcyParty · 10/11/2017 07:33

@mrsjkerry I hope you don't have to wait too long, that sounds so stressful!

@jessiecat27 oh no! A cold during labour was my worst nightmare too :(

I seem to have gone backwards, baby has moved up, CM is clear again with no brown/blood, no more cramps whatsoever. Heartburn has hit me like a truck too.

I'm miserable, yesterday was my due date and I feel like somebody's cancelled Christmas :(

Another sweep booked for Tuesday, and then I'll be induced Sunday 19th :(

lydiangel83 · 10/11/2017 07:53

I’m sorry for those of you uncomfortable and overdue, babies will come soon and it will feel like a lifetime ago! Induction not that bad I really didn’t want it but was induced day before my due date and all happened super quick. Good luck x

mrsjkerry · 10/11/2017 07:54

@DarcyParty we are due date twins. And guess what! My baby was also less engaged yesterday than she was at 38 weeks. I cried and cried yesterday I just want her here already. I was soooooo sulky!

OP posts:
Squigglefish · 10/11/2017 12:55

@lydiangel83 did you need the drip? I'm going in tomorrow and I'm quite scared of things going so fast and not being able to manage.

DarcyParty · 10/11/2017 12:57

@mrsjkerry It's so horrible isn't it! I hate waiting for things to happen. Good news is my yoga ball just arrived (baby is on her side so have to encourage her to turn) so at least I can feel proactive that way.

@squigglefish good luck for tomorrow, we'll all be thinking of you :)

lydiangel83 · 10/11/2017 13:40

@Squigglefish no I had pessary inserted at 10am and then Midwife checked me at 1:30pm I was fully dilated! I think membrane sweep the previous day had got things started which is why it all happened so fast, and apparently my experience was unprecedented. We were told it could take up to five days so we’re pretty surprised when it took just over 5 hrs for the whole labour! What will be will be though, try not to worry about it - which I know is hard to do! Good luck! Xx

TheLionQueen1 · 10/11/2017 18:49

@Squigglefish I had the drip, and had the baby 4 hrs later, my labour was perfect (I had unrelated complications after because of blood pressure).

You will be able to manage, I was delighted I had the drip and it took 4 hours, compared to the woman after me who came in naturally and had a 76 hour labour 😱.

Best piece of advice I could give is just trust your MW when it comes to telling you when/how to breath. I didn't do hypnobirthing but ultimately they know what they are doing and can see what's happening down there. The MW said to me after that because I did what she said I saved myself from a potentially bad tear and lots of stitches and I was very grateful to her!

Squigglefish · 10/11/2017 19:46

Thank you everyone. I'm so nervous I feel sick. Very strange emotions which I know are totally normal.
It's nice to get positive induction stories, I stopped reading them on line because so many people love to be negative and scare first time mothers.

@lydiangel83 My friend only needed 2 pressaries (I think) and she had her baby not long after.

@TheLionQueen1 Thank you, I will be putting all my trust into the staff. Appreciate you sharing your experience.

xx

mrsjkerry · 10/11/2017 22:09

Just found out my mum was induced with all three babies!!! Hope that’s not an indicator of anything 😬

ValentineFizz · 11/11/2017 10:56

@squigglefish I have another positive experience to share, and like you l had stopped reading online as there weren't many to read 😯

I was given 1st pessary on Friday morning, they were able to tell me that this had started contractions by late evening but l couldn't feel them and then they stopped..... They gave me 2nd pessary on Saturday morning and gradually through the day l could feel contractions coming on. I asked for painkillers and went for a bath, which really helped me..... By 7.30pm I was 4cm dilated and taken to labour ward, waters broke about 9.15pm and baby arrived at 11.20pm - gas & air only as no time for anything else!

Best of luck for today, like others have said trust your MW and trust your body - it knows what to do! I will be thinking of you 😘

mrsjkerry · 11/11/2017 11:31

Good luck @Squigglefish thinking of you

ew1990 · 11/11/2017 13:31

@Squigglefish good luck, I just started involuntarily pushing my body just did it for me, and midwife was great with telling me when to breathe - you'll be fine x

lydiangel83 · 11/11/2017 20:16

Good luck @Squigglefish you’ll be great! X

DarcyParty · 11/11/2017 21:19

Good luck @squigglefish ! We're all cheering you on :)

How's everyone doing tonight? We just put the Christmas tree up (I know I know 🙈)and now my cramps have started up again! :D

NC1990 · 11/11/2017 21:50

Hi ladies, I went into labour at 38+6 yesterday and our baby was born at 9pm last night! I went into hospital to be examined at 5pm and was 2cm, they tried to send me home but contractions started coming thick and fast afterwards. By 8pm they were constant and incredibly intense but they wouldn't give me any pain relief as I was told 'you are still in the early stages, we'll save gas and air for nearer the pushing'. Well 10 mins later I was fully dilated and pushing! Everyone was a bit shocked at how quickly she arrived but she's doing well..just need to get the hang of feeding although she has been pretty good so far...

Hope everyone else is good xxx
