Just on the maternity ward on the monitor, gotta wait till there's room on the labour ward - thanks girls

lilliannrose · 01/11/2017 13:50

Hi all, first time pregnancy for me. Could really do with a pregnancy buddy or buddies 😬

NC1990 · 01/11/2017 16:00

Congratulations lydiangel!

Can't wait to hear your news ew1990 Smile

Bobbiepin · 02/11/2017 08:32

How's it going @ew1990?

ew1990 · 02/11/2017 09:14

Was booked in at 12 yesterday but I've had to stay overnight and wait for a room on the labour ward because it's full - they said 2 ladies have delivered babies now so it's just a case of waiting for them to come up to this ward and then I can go down

Bobbiepin · 02/11/2017 10:12

Ooh exciting, you'll have your baby soon! Good luck!

Squigglefish · 02/11/2017 16:26

I had a midwife appt and she offered me the sweep. I ended up bursting into tears and not having it despite having decided to do it previously. Totally irrational but all of a sudden I'm petrified and not ready 😔😔 she's offered to do one on Tuesday if i change my mind and of course if baby hasn't come. I frustrate myself sometimes.

ScotsLamb · 02/11/2017 17:02

Aww @Squigglefish that’s a shame you’ve manage to scare yourself. Hopefully baby will surprise you and arrive before Tuesday.

Squigglefish · 02/11/2017 21:59

I really hope so, I'm only 4/5th engaged, she was 5/5th 2 weeks ago so i'm telling myself it might not have worked anyway. Sigh! Dont know why panic has set in this last fortnight 😔

DarcyParty · 03/11/2017 06:05

I have my sweep booked for Tuesday too @Squigglefish what is it like? Does it hurt?

mrsjkerry · 03/11/2017 07:03

@Squigglefish you mean she has come out of your pelvis a bit? As far as I’m aware, the ‘engagement’ stuff really doesn’t matter.

Here’s hoping baby arrives before Tuesday! I am 39+1 today and hoping mine appears over the weekend. I am so done with being sick. And also...pretty convinced there is not an ounce of space left in me. Anyone else!?

OP posts:
Julesbegone · 03/11/2017 09:53

I’m with you @mrsjkerry! 39+1 today too but I don’t think this baby is shifting anytime soon. Midwife seemed pretty convinced she’d be seeing me at my next appointment, scheduled a day after our due date.

Ready now and getting fed up of the millions of little niggles that late pregnancy seems to throw at you!

TheLionQueen1 · 03/11/2017 09:57

@Squigglefish I did exactly the same don't worry! I thought I was completely ready then they admitted me and started talking about induction and I couldn't have felt less ready/prepared! To be honest I'm not sure you every will feel ready but the sweep isn't that bad at all and means you'll be meeting your little one soon!

After it had all happened for me I was so glad and forgot about everything I had felt before!

mrsjkerry · 03/11/2017 10:52

@Julesbegone I have had no twinges or anything. The only thing I would say is that there’s a lot of pressure low down, but I’ve had that a few weeks now. Think this weekend will be a sex and walking weekend in an attempt to evict this baby!!

OP posts:
Julesbegone · 03/11/2017 11:02

Yep, @mrsjkerry, same. Haven’t even felt Braxton Hicks. Have resigned myself to going the distance and probably beyond. Midwife suggested things such as using Evening Primrose Oil capsules as pessaries but I can’t bring myself to do it. She also mentioned eating five dates a day, which doesn’t sound quite so disgusting but I haven’t got round to it yet.

Sort of feel like I could still be at school, if I’m honest.

mrsjkerry · 03/11/2017 11:04

@Julesbegone I feel the same!! Would rather be at work doing something than just sitting here bored out of my skull waiting for the baby!

I’m not sure I’m comfortable with sticking a capsule up there...! Walking, sex, clary sage oil in the baths sound ok.

OP posts:
Julesbegone · 03/11/2017 11:09

Exactly. Yes, think you’re right and will also be spending this weekend trying to evict baby! On the plus side, it’s very unlikely that we’ve got more than three weeks of this left... Hmm

mrsjkerry · 03/11/2017 11:33

This graph is promising! 🙄

Oh yeah, it does!

Julesbegone · 03/11/2017 12:22

It is*

Squigglefish · 03/11/2017 14:37

@DarcyParty I didn't do it :( I'm back on Tuesday and will try again then.
@mrsjkerry my midwife records the engagement the opposite way (confusing), baby has gone in a little further, but most of her head is still above my brim and she's no where near fully engaged. I don't think it matters either, actually I think she was further in my pelvis on Monday cos I kept nearly wetting myself, now I feel fine! 🙈
@TheLionQueen1 thanks, thats nice advice. I am going to do it on Tuesday because I am even more scared at the thought of induction.

I'm crossing everything so she comes this weekend. Only 2 days over according to my EDD from the scan and still 2 days to go if I stick with my original dates.
Off to Hoover and mop the floors, hoping it'll bring her on gently.
Good luck everyone, Will keep checking in x

ValentineFizz · 03/11/2017 21:29

How are you getting on @ew1990?

@mrsjkerry and @Julesbegone we were due date triplets for the 9th however I'm in being induced today, going slowly as seems to be the norm from what I've read!

Julesbegone · 03/11/2017 21:57

Oh @ValentineFizz - how’s it going? Why have they decided to induce you?

Peeper13 · 03/11/2017 22:38

Please can I jump in?? :D my first baby and I really am loving being pregnant and cannot wait for baby to arrive, but I just can’t get comfy!!! Has anyone got any good tips for sleeping or just lying down?? As soon as I lie down I get really bad heartburn which leads to sickness! I’ve got an amazing partner who has been so supportive, and helpful with everything around the house, but where I’m so tired I keep snapping and feel awful about it!! Hope everyone’s pregnancy’s are going well :D

ew1990 · 03/11/2017 23:15
