Your 3 favorite Girls names?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 07/04/2007 13:50

I have been trawling name websites and we are still undecided on a girls name, we have a couple of likes but have not found one that we are really happy with. I know there are lots of name threads all the time but if you don't mind disclosing your 3 favorite girls names just something may catch my eye.

Alternitively, any suggestions. We live in France so a name that would work both well in the UK and here would be good. We have a Harrison and a Maddie now and we have a boys name sorted.

Thanks

Sorry to be rude, but how does Harrison go down in France? Does anyone ever think he's named after a hedgehog?
I'm not trying to be funny, I'm genuinely curious.
I like Claudia, Florence, Anna.

This is a really nice thread! Mine are Clara, Elisabeth, Isabelle, Amelia, and Rose for middle name. I really like Rose but my husband is not sure about it for a first name. He loves the name Bella, but I'm not so sure about it.

I really love Isabella, which of course could be shortened to Bella. We'll see...

BandofBunnies · 07/04/2007 22:06

My 2 dd's are Piper, and Isabel.
And I also like Alana, or something similar

Mrsjaffabiffa · 07/04/2007 22:39

Wow, thank you all for your replies.

lol, Chocolate face. Harrison was born in the UK and named before we moved to the UK. He is 4.5 and has been at school for 2 years. SO far no one has said anything about it being like Herrison (hedgehog) although we have joked about it. I think there are worse things that a name could be associated with. The french do not say the H though and it is pronounced - A ri son. I don't think you were being rude asking FWIW.

Mrs JB, a friend of mine has recently had an Emmeline and I just love the name.

Hideehi · 08/04/2007 20:12

I love Emmeline, I have to say that my friend is a nurse and there's a lot of Jorja Mai's around at the moment and the spelling is a bloody nightmare, the mums are constantly correcting the GP's, Teachers etc, a PIA

Cocobear · 08/04/2007 21:19

MrsJB - So glad you started this thread as I'm having exactly the same problem. From your list, I think Emmeline and Leaoni are top, but it's a good list all the way down.

The only one that's caught us so far is Catalina. Any thoughts?

Bodkin · 09/04/2007 03:13

Great thread...

Mine are:

Myrtle

Ivy

Adelaide (Addie - from Paper Moon film)

DP has vetoed them all

Love Rose/Rosie but used it for DDs middle name already, so we are considering Rosa

Dunno who suggested Posy - but that is gorgeous! Might try that out on DP....

I have 3 dd's - 2 of their names have been mentioned!

For number 4 I have Jemima, Tabitha or Matilda in mind. Charlotte has been my 'also ran' for all 3 dd's.
