Your 3 favorite Girls names?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 07/04/2007 13:50

I have been trawling name websites and we are still undecided on a girls name, we have a couple of likes but have not found one that we are really happy with. I know there are lots of name threads all the time but if you don't mind disclosing your 3 favorite girls names just something may catch my eye.

Alternitively, any suggestions. We live in France so a name that would work both well in the UK and here would be good. We have a Harrison and a Maddie now and we have a boys name sorted.

Thanks

Exactly cocobear, try telling my dh that I think he has settled for Martha..

As the mother of 2 Ds, i have no chance of girls names now, but my favourites are

Eilidh
Monica
Orla
Seonaid(pronounced Shona)
Madelaine
Daisy
and Freya

I also liked Isabelle/Isabella, but Dh's witch of a Grandmother is called that so no child of mine ever would be. I know there were more than 3 there, but they were ones we had chosen if we had girls

I love Martha.

Our list is a mess still, but...

Catalina
Rosa
Tenaya

I'm convinced mine's a boy, but there are so many pretty girls names... I like:

Francesca
Lucie
Sophie
Giovanna

Coco, I just love Rosa, so sweet. Have you lived in other African countries than Ghana too? Just wondering since you know the annoying song

Don't want to hijack thread, but yes, Kenya and Tanzania. Wouldn't name the kid Hakuna Matata either. But in fairness Malaika is a beautiful name, and hopefully few in the UK will have heard that song. Again and again and again...

Martha lovely
becoming bit popular tho, or 'less uncommon'

Mrsjaffabiffa · 11/04/2007 17:18

cam, I really like Martha but have realised that the French can't say the TH so it would be said. Mata. Not so keen on that.

Jorja Mai is top at the moment I think. I know someone said it is becoming more popular in the UK, but I've not EVER heard it here and am sure all would be able to pronounce it with ease. The spelling I don't think would be too much of an issue as looking around the coat pegs at school, hardly any of the names spell like they look like they should say. IYKWIM. Still running with Emmeline but not keen on it being shortened to Em or Emma.

This thread has been fantastic, Thank you everyone that has posted. Good job we've all got different tastes in Names, it would be very confusing otherwise.
