Hey everyone-We've just spent 10 days on holiday in the sun-eating FAR too much (but I reckon calorie wise probably less than normal holidays as no booze!) and vegging on a sun lounger & swimming. I think I have piriformis syndrome- intense pain in left gluteal area, that sort of radiates, so I'm worried it will turn into sciatica!

It's our 12 week scan (well 13+4) tomorrow. Terrified that will have no heart beat, as it's over 4 weeks since we had scan, or that screening will be abnormal (I'm 39, husband is 42) . I'm not even sure if my bloods will be taken tomorrow (scan is in medical centre/gp surgery, not hospital) IF scan all ok, I'm planning on starting pregnancy pilates class on saturday which will hopefully help the pain in my arse Wink

MrsJ that sounds shit-sorry, I hope it improves. It's been lush being off work I have to say, have to go back on monday and I haven't been there since the end of September Grin Not excited about going back and dealing with all the hazards!

Brenna24 · 11/10/2017 21:50

That sounds horrible MrsJ. No advice, but plenty of sympathy.

Best of luck tomorrow HotCookie

It so hard when work is a nightmare... we spend so much time there. @msjuniper are you a member of a union? You can get support that way. if you think it's affecting your health (and your baby) I'd also consider getting signed off... it's not ideal but of it'll save you the stress and worry... you have to put yourself first.

Hazandduck · 11/10/2017 22:59

I agree with others @msjuniper, try and get signed off! Your health and baby are way more important than any job, that sort of stress should not be burdened on to you. Can you get an appointment with your GP to discuss?

Rubbish you've been so poorly :( @mogul but what a lovely pic! It's perfect bump shape. Thank you, and thanks @Rum, we were in La Spezia in Italy. We travelled round France in a camper van for our honeymoon but treated ourselves to one night in a hotel when we got to Italy and both had hour long showers, wore hotel robes and I spent far too long glamming myself up that evening haha. My hair normally looks like a crazy birds' nest, god bless GHDs. Xx

minniemouseears · 12/10/2017 07:46

Had my 20wk scan yesterday we are having a boy!!!! All well baby a menace and made everything differcult for the poor sonographer who no doubt had a tension head ache and a crick in her neck last night!
How is everyone bump picks are gorgeous
@msjuniper work sounds awful I agree about trying to get some time off something pregnancy related will protect you as it's ring fenced by law from sickness policy as i'm sure your worried in that environment but it's really not good for your mental wellbeing particularly as let's face it on this thread we are all more anxious and stressed in our curent pregnancies so any outside stress can just feel to much
I am off sick with spd and back pain at the minute and getting so stressed at being off work worried about pay and how work are feeling about me being off but had a chat with my manager yesterday and feeling a bit better it's differcult though I had spd with previous pregnancies so getting pregnant again and having this happen again feels like I've dumped them in it again and I feel very selfish. In my defence I had been doing physio lead pilates so felt stronger going into this pregnancy but alas no match for hormones 🙈 and I was very proactive seeing a private physio when the spd started and whilst I've been off I've spent a fortune on seeing physio to help (hair will have to stay a messmess maternity clothes budget gone and praying childrens feet don't grow till pay day haha) but still feel guilty then I feel guilty for worrying about work when my littlest man is more important and I should just be glad to have him healthy and growing well.
Maybe sleep deprivation is getting to me was litterally crying over spilt milk last night

Brenna24 · 12/10/2017 10:04

Congratulations on your little menace Minnie. I am glad he is well and able to be awkward. Grin Poor you with the SPD. Not funny at all.

@Brenna my thoughts exactly apologising for his behaviour already and so happy hes happy healthy and upto mischief is so very reasuring

mogulfield · 12/10/2017 11:06

msjuniper I’m an HR professional by back ground, with a specialisation in employment greivance and harassment, you’re more than welcome to PM me? I’d be happy to help where I can.

I went back to the doctors, I’m relieved as they listened to my chest and all was fine. I’m going to try the steaming you suggested brenna and I do have a blue inhaler haz as it happens 👍 just pleased that it’s not more sinister and something that could affect the baby Smile . They basically said that baby’s movements are the defining feature in their health, and baby is moving loads.

mogulfield · 12/10/2017 11:07

ekphrasis sorry it was you who offered the blue inhaler advice, I can’t keep up! I have one due to asthma Smile

Bisset80 · 12/10/2017 11:54

Hi ladies

Hope you don't mind me jumping in, found out in January I was 5 weeks pregnant, went into early labour 14th March and unfortunately my baby was too young to survive.

Just found out on Monday that I'm 5 weeks pregnant again, and to say I am crapping myself is an understatement, but trying to not stress my self out too much, really adding some comments on here is making me feel more positive!!! Smile

MsJuniper · 12/10/2017 14:58

Thanks all, I really appreciate the sympathy. Yesterday was a very bad day! Today I have kept things low key so it has not felt as intense. I will see how things go and if I feel I need to visit the GP. But thank you all.

Minnie that is lovely news on your boy. I dreamt I was having one too so who knows?!

Bisset welcome, I think we all know what it feels like at that early point. I have everything crossed this sticks for you.

hotcookie · 12/10/2017 16:15

Scan went ok-heart still beating thank God! We opted for the screening and the NT measurement was 2.7 (although the 1st one was 2.2 and one was 2.5 and the one she used she def started and finished the measurement outside of the fluid, which is probably right, but I would have thought it should be started at the junction of fluid/tissue) Should have results by the end of next week.

Think I have to buy some maternity trousers for work now-can anyone recommend anywhere to get heavy cotton type maternity trousers-and if I want to them to last the whole pregnancy can I get over bump ones now, or will they fall off me at the moment? I def have a little pot belly but am firmly in the "pregnant or fat" category at the moment!

Bisset80 · 12/10/2017 16:34

Thank you @MsJuniper

It's the worst isn't it!!
Hope all is well with you Flowers

Stealthtoast · 12/10/2017 16:55

My scan went ok too- measuring slightly ahead of dates and all seemed to be ok! They said they'll call tomorrow/Monday if there's a problem, or I'll hear in 2 weeks if not (though if i don't hear I'll call the mw anyway). Hotcookie I agree about the nt measurement - the lines were so fuzzy I couldn't see how it was possible to decide where to measure!

Brenna24 · 12/10/2017 21:40

Minnie 3 out of 4 sonographers so far have used the word awkward about ours. I suspect I may spend a lot of time apologising for their behaviour too. Ia m rather loving that he or she has some spirit. Grin

That is good to hear Mogul. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi and welcome Bisset. I am sorry for your loss. Flowers I hope you have an easier time of it this time and get to take your precious little bundle home.

Great news HotCookie and StealthToast. I love good scan days.

It took me 3 hours to do my italian homework today. Serves me right for leaving it until the last minute. It has been a really busy week though, so I just haven't had the energy. Not much to do for next week though. Thankfully.

Hazandduck, I teach Year 4 so 8-9 year olds. They won't notice or say anything even if they did! It's not something their parents will be looking out for either so I'm sure it'll be fine and indeed I'm already stocking up on new work clothes!

Mogul, glad you got some reassurance from the doctor and it's not going to do any harm to baby. Hope you start to feel better!

MrsJ, sorry you're having a rough time at work. I echo what others have said about taking some time off if necessary. You really don't need that kind of hassle!

Congratulations on your successful 20 week scan and little boy news Minnie! Wonderful! And also to stealth and hotcookie on positive scans Grin

Welcome Bisset, I'm so sorry for your loss. I really wish you all the best in this pregnancy and am glad you have already found some reassurance in the thread Smile

Turns out it wasn't my downs screening result I had through to my online notes - it was bloods. They were all normal so now just waiting for the downs letter. I'm hoping that as it's taking a while, it's hopefully low risk. It'll be 2 weeks on Monday so it's not been particularly quick!

Ekphrasis · 13/10/2017 11:04

Glad gp helps mogul - I have to up my brown at the first sign of a cough as that’s my weakness, have you done this? Had an awful one weeks 4-6. Steaming always helps me too.

Welcome bisset! im so sorry for your previous loss, it really is hard getting through the early weeks. Ive over fluctuating symptoms and this thread is s good place to let it out - the ladies are great! I seem to get one very nauseous day a week at the moment. Today it is - only an almond croissant helped Blush.

Great news HotCookie and StealthToast on your scans and Minnie too - exciting!

Booking appt today. I’m 9 weeks ish. Also had thyroid test which I’m quite anxious about. We didn’t raise the med much and I’m worried about it as with ds it did shoot up quite quickly.

Bisset80 · 13/10/2017 11:38

Thank you @brenna @emvy @ekp I make my self worse because my daughter who is 10 next month took the loss really bad, she still writes her little brothers name in cards etc from her, I want to tell her so I can make her feel happy and excited again but I'm scared to just incase.... I can't put her through that again!!
But fingers legs and toes crossed for us all!! Xxx

Hazandduck · 13/10/2017 12:05

Someone at work suggested a good trick yesterday for those suffering with chesty coughs etc...Put a slowcooker in your bedroom overnight on low heat, full of water with olbas oil drops in. The steam apparently helps to clear all the airways out!

Welcome @bisset, I hope all goes well. My niece and nephew knew about my first pregnancy and still always ask about baby Angel (they named her) and if she is ok in 'neven' as they call it. To be honest, how they reacted was more comforting than most adults, who tend to awkwardly side step talking about your lost baby as a person, no matter how early they came to you, you saw their whole future mapped out. There is lots of amazing support on this thread to get you through the early days too. x

Congratulations on your healthy scan and little boy @Minnie! So glad it went well x

mogulfield · 13/10/2017 13:34

ekphrasis The steam has helped a lot, and cough now seems to have dissapeared. Although still full of cold, so will keep up the steaming (and still can’t hear in left ear).

Haz we have a slow cooker Il give that a go!

Welcome bisset the first few weeks are hard, but I found the further I got the less anxious I got :)

minnie congratulations, we’re having a little boy as well.

brenna I’m impressed you spent 3 hours on your homework! Do you feel like you’re learning it? Might seem like a stupid question, but does it feel like it’s all going in? I’m terrible with languages but was tempted to do french again (B and GCSE but I can’t remember anything...).

Quick question, has anyone else felt faint at around 22 weeks? I don’t know if it’s because I’m ill with this cold, or I had the flu jab y-day, but this morning talking to a neighbour I suddenly felt very hot, very sick and like I was about to faint. I managed to get in the house and get some water, I still feel weird now Confused I’m trying to take it easy, which is bloody hard when you run your own business!

ForeverHopeful21 · 13/10/2017 13:48

So after the initial trauma of suspected ectopic, horrific pains and hospital referrals ....I am so pleased that we had our dating scan on Wednesday and everything was perfect. I'm still shocked.
I'm still not ready to believe that there will be a baby at the end of the process, so to my mums dismay I've told her that she's still not allowed to buy anything (even though I know she already has).
Thank you for everyones support during my times of major worrying especially in those very early weeks x

Afternoon ladies, I wanted to share with you, the happy news that baby sock portal arrived by emergency c-section at 4.20am this morning. Now know as Beatrice, she is 5 weeks early but weighted in at 6lb 4oz.

Thank you to all the ladies on here who have kept me sane over the past 8 months.

NoParticularPattern · 13/10/2017 14:50

Oh that’s lovely news sock!! What a lovely name!! Sending lots of love and squishy cuddles your way Grin

Stealthtoast · 13/10/2017 15:37

Wonderful news forever and sock!

mogulfield · 13/10/2017 15:54

Lovely scan picture forever and congratulations sock! How exciting :) I hope 5 weeks early wasn’t too much of a shock, that’s a good weight though for being premature!
