I thought I would start a new thread because we finally passed the 500 post mark.

This is a pretty quiet thread - I think too many of us have been moving house. Our move is well and truly over (thank heavens) - well at least for the short term, we still have the small matter of emigrating in November with an 8 week old and a 3 year old which should be a barrel of laughs...

Otherwise I am bumbling on nearly 31 weeks and actually feeling ok despite no sleep, spd type pain at night and lots of time at the hospital because DS2 is so big and needs constant monitoring.

How are you all doing - time is flying we'll be doing birth announcements soon...

dinny, I've developed a wee bulge there as well, but I assumed I was getting flabby!!

oh my ignorance.......

dinny · 07/08/2004 17:04

It's really weird, isn't it, Highlander?!

Well, I am feeling happy as yesterday was the gestation my dd1 was born at (35+5) and I DIDN't go into labour (was convinced I would!) Had my 36-week bloods done - which I missed last time.

Starting to feel a bit less scared about labour now - am tempted to have pethidine this time if it's too painful.

dejags · 08/08/2004 19:03

Dinny - glad to hear that you passed that milestone without any problems .

Well I can only say that I am MISERABLE ... I haven't slept properly in 8 months and in the past two weeks the most uninterupted sleep I have had is 1.5hrs. For the past 8 days I have woken every half hour at night and last night I basically catnapped waking every 15 minutes. I am totally exhausted and feeling very low, am so worried that this is going to trigger another bout of PND. I am seeing my MW tomorrow and I am seriously considering agreeing to the induction on 30th August on the basis that at least once the baby is born I will be more comfortable and I will at least be able to get a good nights kip (DH is great that way )...

We went to a wedding in Brighton yesterday which was lovely - it did leave me feeling even more wiped out today than usual though... and we have houseguests...

Oh I am feeling sorry for myself today aren't I?... sorry for going on..

Hope you are all feeling good...

Poor you, Dejags, I can sympathise

Are you feeling really big? I'm so bloody uncomfy in this heat - must be a nightmare for you if bub is a whopper (mind you, think this one is bigger than dd1 at this stage - and she was 6,7lbs at just ubder 36 wks, eek!).

I am so scared of giving birth again. Think I may go start thread about it - can't stop panicking.

Dejags, hope you somehow manage to get some more rest - why don't you treat yourself to a prenatal massage or treatment (in a salon with airconditioning!) x

cazzybabs · 08/08/2004 20:23

dejags you go on as much as you like - it sounds like a nightmare pregnancy. It will be all be worth it soon though. I really feel for you - not mcuh use though!

I am in big trouble - have mananged to miss my 28 week blood tests and a midwife appt. My doctors is sure to stike me off!!!! I mangaged to faint in a resturant the other day which was terribly embarrising and now I am too scared to leave the house incase the same thing happens!
But I am finally getting round to sorting out my wedding - HORRAH! And it looks like the bishop may marry me which will be really cool as he is amazing man. I just keep hoping my lottery ticket will come up!

highlander · 08/08/2004 21:27

oh, dear - I think we've all got 3rd trimester blues I'm personally ticking the days off now. Oh, to go for a nice long pee and have a full night's sleep.

Dinny sweetheart, sorry you're all scared. Is your DH able to do do your labour 'battles' on your behalf? ie shout at the midwives for you? Can you have another woman there to support you? Will the midwives give a bit extra TLC if they know how terrified you are?

More to the point, is there ANYTHING we can do?

Well doen on getting to 36 weeks

dinny · 08/08/2004 21:31

Thanks, Highlander. DH was fab last time but not sure he wll be there this time Depends on if our childcare works out.

My doula will be with me and hopefully one of my homebirth team of mws will come to be with me in hospital.

God, can't believe how scared I am!

cazzybabs · 09/08/2004 14:29

Has anyone hired a TENS machine? And if so where from because I can't remember where I got mine from last time?

Saddy · 09/08/2004 14:54

Hello, I have just joined the site, but I have been lurking for about a week! I am officially due 7th Sept - though I feel HUGE and ready to give birth right now! I started maternity leave today.

Bit about me, I am 31, live in Surrey and am married, this is baby number one after trying for years! We don't know the sex, wanted a suprise! I am feeling pretty uncomfortable right now, and just am longing to sleep fo a night, no wait, a half or quarter night through, seem to pee constantly and can't get comfortable at all now. The hot weather is murder!

Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Saddy X

Hello and welcome Saddy and Podmog. It is So revoltingly hot. Podmpg, I've been engaged about 3 weeks too (am 36 wks now). Makes doing anything much with dd1 pretty uncomfortable. That bouncing round on the bladder/cervix. OW!

Saddy, whereabouts in Surrey are you? I'm on the border of Surrey/Merton.

Saddy · 10/08/2004 09:03

Dinny - I am from Cobham....just down the A3! I know Merton pretty well.

Wrote birth plan last night. Its really flexible. Gas and Air until I am screaming then an epidural (mobile) but if I can make it just on Gas and Air all the better. I want my hubby to take photos of the birth, nothing gross, but the head coming out, one of him cutting the cord etc....anyone lese thinking of that?

Sx

highlander · 10/08/2004 18:02

hi there podmog and saddy!

Well, over here in Vancouver it's 10am and the temp is a balmy 25C already - arse!! Another day indoors hiding from the heat.......... I can't wait until we move back home.

highlander · 11/08/2004 23:46

dinny, saw your other thread -sooooooo glad yu're feeling a bit better
H xx

dejags · 12/08/2004 11:16

How is everybody doing? I am feeling much better - had some okay nights and have much more energy. Today I have sorted out the baby's clothes, am going for a hair appointment and have cleaned the kitchen to within an inch of it's life...

I saw the consultant yesterday and have refused the induction on the 30th so now it's just a waiting game... four weeks and counting....

Hope you are all well...

Still no news from Tillymint??

Hi dejags... and everyone else, whereever you all may be!

It can't be long now before we have our first birth announcement... who's going to be the first? We've moved house, and city, and are in temp accommodation so i kind of feel like i'm in a holiday home. DH is working away and i have nothing to do - docs keep telling me to take it easy to keep BP down, so that rules out too much exploring. For that reason ( and because baby is BIG) I would love baby to come early... (It was estimated at being 7lbs last week - at that point 4 weeks to go!!). Having said that we move into new house at beginning of September and there'll be much more room - esp for grandparents to stay (they all live far away).

having said all of that.... it's all out of my hands anyway!!

Is anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea yet? Is anyone else massging almond oil in to help prevent any tears ?

Would love to hear your chat. Come on! Let's get this thread going again to get us through these final weeks .

xx

highlander · 17/08/2004 19:41

OK, let's get the chant going.......

4 WEEKS TO GO, 4 WEEKS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

We'll no longer resemble beached whales, no more back ache, no more being kicked in the ribs, no more going for miniscule pees every 5 mins, and we can get totally pissed (yes!!)

I'm so desperate to land the sprog that I'm seriously considering ditching my CS birth plan. I don't care how many people are there, hell the hospital porters could watch for all I care now!

highlander · 17/08/2004 19:44

dinny, are you still with us?

you must be a magic 37 wks now?!

thinking about you lots; hope you're managing to stay positive

dejags · 18/08/2004 07:44

Well I have either 3 weeks & 4 days left or 1 week and 4 days left - depending on who to believe (LMP or Late Scan dates).

My dating scan said my LMP was spot on - my 23 week scan said my dates were spot on - five subsequent scans have put me two weeks ahead, so who knows

My poor DH is living on a rollercoaster at the moment - my moods are so unpredictable. One minute I am sweetness and love the next a roaring, crying mess - ahhh the joys of late pregnancy.

I feel great today - bump isn't hindering me too much, sleep was cr@p (par for the course) but I still feel really energetic.

Come on everybody, come out of your hiding places..

Just popping in to say a few words...

Ja9 - I just gave birth in Stirling Royal 2 weeks ago and they were all wonderful.

I wish all of you the best of luck and nice quick-ish labours. The last fews weeks are totally crap and I was utterly miserable, but it is amazing just how quickly that all fades into the distance the minute that slimey, warm, crying bundle is handed to you. Mine is ko'd in my arms at the mo!

GOOD LUCK FOLKS.... I'm so excited for you.

eyelash · 18/08/2004 09:20

Hello all - just popping in for a quick hello as well. My official due date is 30 September but both my dss were very late so expecting an October baby. I would so love this baby to come on time though. Desperately trying to get iron levels up at the moment so on 3 sachets of SpaTone a day. My levels have already dipped below the 10 that I need for a homebirth so bloods being taken again this Friday to check levels are rising.

I have been glued to the August thread as it makes it seem so close (as does realising there is an April 2005 thread already). Is it me or have there been alot of births recently with lots of intervention and/or c-sections?

Can't wait for the first announcement from this month

Hi, also still here, sweltering away under the mad spanish sun! Got a scan next week and 3rd trimester blood tests - can't wait - for the scan not the test!!! It seems like ages since the last one. Not doing much though - way too hot to go out - poor DS isn't having much fun and have my cousin staying a couple of weeks who doesn't seem to keen on helping out although that's why she reckons she came in the first place! NOT to bug me for 2 weeks and give me extra work! Yes, I am NOT very impressed but hey, too late now!

On a brighter note, I too am looking forward to hearing announcements for Sep!

cazzybabs · 18/08/2004 11:13

I wonder who of us will be first. I am getting really kicked in the ribs at the moment. I am thinking about all of you. Lets hope the august people had all the interventions and we will have quick intervention free births!
