Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

This lady isn't ready! Had a horrid day

This lady's bum hurts - we had the company awayday today, I sat all day on a very uncomfortable chair, found there was NO vegetarian meal option available at lunchtime (except cheese and grapes for afters) which got me complaining bitterly to food serving staff whilst sticking my stomach out. They couldn't really help as the food was brought in, not made on premises, but I got some crisps in the end and as much fruit as I could eat. I think an angry letter to catering firm is in order

Hope you all had a better day. I have decided tomorrow is going to be great for all of us, the sun will shine, we will all feel healthy, our bumps won't be heavy at all and Tony Blair will announce that chocolate is to be made free to all pg people. Yay!

beansprout · 11/07/2004 20:38

Sorry to hear that Bibiboo - what's wrong with these people? And why isn't someone saying "you sit there and I'll sort it out for you?" On an awayday too!! Shame on them! Grrrr

I can feel a sense of panic if I think I can't eat when I really need to or am not going to have anything like the food I actually need. Hope you have a lovely dinner and restful evening.

Glad to hear you had a good night's rest Bean, will email you when I'm back in office to catch up.

I am going to have a takeaway curry tonight as we didn't get round it it again last night. Mmmm, veg biriyani, garlic naan, maybe a couple of samosas. All highly fattening and not v healthy, but sooo, sooo nice! We had a v healthy veggie chilli last night with brown rice, so feel like I can justifiably pig out today. Listen to me! I should be on the overeaters-anon thread not this one!

Turtle35 · 11/07/2004 20:56

Bibi don't they realise the importance of food to a pg woman - urggghhh that gets the better of me.

Rang the midwife who said if the pain continues to go see GP, pains stopped so I came home and had a well needed nap. I am putting it down to weird pg pains we get for no reason.

Am about to cook Salmon, rice, asparagus and a big healthy salad. Afterwards, I will of course be having strawberries and chocolate ice cream Piglit said so!!

Hope everyone has a brilliant day tomorrow. Toots, got the floradix and will start taking it - thanks for the tip.....I think

Turtle35 · 11/07/2004 20:58

Bibi go for it!! Well rounded diet is key

Bibiboo · 12/07/2004 12:45

I think I've caught the sleepless nights bug too! Had my curry and went to bed v happy with a full belly and then had several horrid dreams about baby, waking up in between to wake DH up and have a bit of a sob. One was that we had twins and my MIL preferred one over the other, and told me I was doing a rubbish job with the non-favourite twin. Another was that I kept forgetting I had a baby and was forgetting to feed it so it was starving!

Anxiety dreams methinks.

huppa · 12/07/2004 13:24

Sorry you didn´t sleep too well Bibiboo.
I also had a baby dream, but luckily not a horrible one. I dreamt baby was due on day of world cup final and was worried we would miss the match. Fortunately the hospital rang early in the morning to say baby had arrived safely and we could pick him up whenever we wanted. It was only when I woke up that I realised I´d had no involvement in the birth whatsoever. Wishful thinking perhaps?

cerys · 12/07/2004 13:26

Morning everyone

this is my last day in work before a whole week off
Turtle35, hope you're better and Bibiboo, sorry you had horrid dreams. The curry sounds nice though! I'm sure I never used to think about curry in the mornings. Might have to go and get my daily cup of tea and chocolate bar soon.

My sleepless nights have so far been caused by the DDS, but last night was better. DD1 stayed in her bed all night (we usually wake to find her in between us) and DD2 woke at 3.30am. I went in to her, she picked up her dolly, tried to climb out of bed and pointed to our room. I think we've got into a bad habit there! I have visions of us all piled into the bed and the new baby having to fight for a corner. We got a superkingsize bed recently and we seem to be using all available space! But so long as I get some sort of sleep, i don't really care anymore.

miffy2 · 12/07/2004 13:32

cerys, enjoy your week off - going anywhere nice or just catching up on stuff?

To those not sleeping well, my full sympathy to you. DS was awake from 5.30 this morning and nothing convinced him to go back to sleep. He is Teflon boy! Also is 2 days into toilet-training and doing fine but obviously thinks he now needs less sleep - but mummy needs more!

cerys · 12/07/2004 13:46

We are going to Tenby, which is about an hour away, to stay in a posh static caravan. We did this 2 years ago on a different site and couldn't believe how smart the caravans were. DD1 thinks it's a huge adventure and DD2 just loves life, so it should be fun, even if the weather is dodgy. And no cooking, ironing or cleaning for 5 days - marvellous!

Have got my tea and choc now, so all is well!

beansprout · 12/07/2004 13:52

Hi everyone. I had a rare baby dream last night too. Db arrived early and I had to keep him in a saucepan of warm water so he could finish growing/cooking. Um.....

I also managed to have a full nights sleep so am very relieved!! Hope you are all well.

Allyco - hope you are ok, we are all thinking of you xx

I have been exemplary at following this well rounded diet of ours so far this morning - 4 apricots, 1 nectarine, 1 slice wholemeal toast & marmite and 2 chocolate chip cookies.

I was at home on my own last night as DH was out last night (came home plastered - well he doesn't often get the chance anymore!) so I foolishly started to thumb through the last couple of chapters of my PG book. I could deal with the scary pictures/photos, but ended up in floods of tears over the whole bonding with your baby and the bit about introducing other children. I was a blubbering wreck, so had another 1/2 glass of wine!

Are any of you imbibing at all? I hope it's not just me?!

Turtle35 · 12/07/2004 14:26

sort of slept better but still feel like I could sleep for two days and not wake up.

Had very weird dreams too, not baby related thankfully cause they tend to freak me out a bit.

Am off to Cornwall for a week on Friday and cant' wait, although have a sneaky suspicion it's gonna pour down with rain

piglit · 12/07/2004 14:28

Sooz - I thought some alcohol was good for you? The only alcohol I can drink is bottled beer. Everything else makes me sick as a dog. I had half a glass of champagne at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago and was really ill. I am looking forward to that first post pg glass of very expensive red wine.

sooz31 · 12/07/2004 14:53

Thanks piglit! For my last PG I hardly had any, just didn't fancy it, but this time around I've been a bit more indulgent. Everything in moderation; with the notable exceptions being chocolate and strawberries of course!

geogteach · 12/07/2004 22:41

Sooz don't worry, i'm indulging in a regular half glass - keeps you sain.

1 more week of work to go for me. DS also has his op next week so could be a fairly busy one me thinks.

beansprout · 13/07/2004 13:38

Hope that goes ok Geogteach and that ds recovers quickly.

Turtle - have you slept? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for nice Cornish weather for you....
I did sleep and am (almost) perky today, well about as perky as a woman with a water melon strapped to her front can be

Turtle35 · 13/07/2004 13:57

thanks Bean, sadly not very well, I am finding it real hard to drift off, my mind is racing and not partiularly about the bubster. It's work and crap like that. urgh thanks for the fingers crossed on Cornish weather but looking out there today I have a bad feeling about it.

Have been gulping down the floradix but hasn't kicked in yet me thinks. Ohh did have one last little shop in the Formes Sale yesterday which always makes me feel a bit better.

Mine is like a watermellon too - just a bit wider I think she is lying like a star fish inside me rather than foetal position

Turtle35 · 13/07/2004 14:01

So if I am now 25 weeks and don't have any strech marks yet, will I get them??

Does anyone else have strech marks?

I have been committed with my oil morning and night.

Turtle35 · 13/07/2004 14:02

Geoteach what is your DS having an Op on? hope he is ok and goes well.

sooz31 · 13/07/2004 14:08

Turtle, afraid you can never tell; I thought I had got away with zero stretchmarks with DS's pg - in the last few days before he arrived I got a couple of small ones on my tummy (he was 6 days late and a hefty 8lb 2oz)! Oh well - he was worth it!

Turtle35 · 13/07/2004 14:23

Oh No Sooz - I had such wishful thinking never mind I need to be realisic about this. Did you gain much weight with DS?

sooz31 · 13/07/2004 14:34

A fair bit yes. but it all fell off such that I lost more than pre-preg size (pre-preg size 10, post-preg size 8?!). not quite sure how! BF (but not purely) for 5 months. exercised (running and hockey) once the boobs shrank. Think BF, being an active mum, weird metabolism and luck all played their part! Obviously hoping it will work this time around too!?!

Turtle35 · 13/07/2004 14:44

How lucky are you!!! I sure hope that happens to me. I plan to BF also but am not against the idea of introducing formula at night early on. Quite a few friends did this and said it was bliss for sleeping Does that make me selfish?

miffy2 · 13/07/2004 14:52

Turtle,
it can be a good idea to intorduce a bottle early as my two took forever to switch when I decided to wean them on to formula. However if your baby suffers from nipple confusion it may be an idea to switch back to breast only for another while.

I was lucky with DS (2nd baby) as he fed and slept well from the start. Unfortunately with both babies I got stretchmarks (when bump dropped quickly at the end of pregnancy) and also retained a half stone on each baby. NOT THIS TIME, she says determinedly (or optimistically?)

I hope to BF again this time, as long as babs can fit in OK with my school/playschool drop-off routine!
