Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

poor bean.

I had a winge to my wonderful scottish chum about the whole insensitive comments problem, so enter his suggestions for our amusement below:

1 Tell them its wind.

2 Ask them ?Does my bump look big in this??

3 Tell them your real due date is 1st of July and by the way you think your waters have just broken, and could they go an tear up some bed sheets.

4 Tell them you have a very outie belly button. (I would favour this one). You can go on to say that when you let for work this morning you were the ?perfect size? for your number of weeks but suddenly on the tube there was a very loud pop, you lost two buttons off your coat and now the aforementioned bb is causing some serious tenting.

As if by magic the pain has gone! I knew that telling people about it would make it go away, as if to prove me a liar, so i'm going to see how I am over the weekend, drink tonnes of cranberry juice and if it's still there on Monday I'm off to see the m/w. Apart from the under-belly ache there are no other symptoms of a UTI - am I now being sensible and rational by waiting or totally head-in-the-sand?

Bibiboo · 07/07/2004 17:46

I even got this pm off work in case I went to see m/w, so I've been at home listening to my Stevie Wonder records (yes, I am old enough to have vinyl but still young enough to know how to work a cd too!), swaying and singing about the bedroom like a loony - but a happy loony

PS. If you think my taste in music is apalling, get the old vinyl out, put on Stevie's "Isn't she lovely" and I dare you not to fall in love with it!!!

Bibiboo · 07/07/2004 17:47

SORRY to hog the thread, I forgot to say thanks to you all for advice xxx sweeties, the lot of you!

Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 18:06

Bibi I am glad the pain is gone, it can be really scary not knowing what it might be. I used to get shocking pain in the beginning and kept thinking that's it, it's all over but it was stretching uteris etc.

I think "Isn't she lovely" by Steve Wonder is fab especially knowing I am having a little girl

lol over the weekend - take it easy and get lots of chocolate in ya!!

sooz31 · 07/07/2004 18:10

I lurve Stevie Wonder! Don't boogie too hard though Bibi! (You've reminded me to add his greatest hits to my birthday wish list)

Rest (if still possible, sleep) lots and hope the under-belly strain has gone for good.

Thanks for the MB suggestion Flo... have been surfing about it for most of the afternoon.

I'm so bored at work - I've only 3 weeks left but can't seem to get the days to go fast enough, even with MN!

beansprout · 07/07/2004 18:12

Sounds reasonable to me Bibiboo. I got up this morning with an ache across the top of my bump. Couldn't work out what it was, but it's gone now. Just a sneak preview of the joys of the looming third trimester I think! Hope you stay feeling ok.

Sooz - like your friend's comments. I'm still hedging towards the less sophisticated end of the response options ("sod off" so all suggestions are welcome.

Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 18:12

Sooz I know what you mean! I have work to get on with but just don't feel like doing any of it.

3 weeks left? Are you a school teacher?

Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 18:15

Bean tell em to Feck off!! Some times a real stern look back and don't say a word can stop them in their tracks.

If one more person says to me "are you sure there is only one in there" I am gonna scream!!

sooz31 · 07/07/2004 18:34

Turtle - teacher, no (although have been very tempted to become one). I work for a consulting company... project manager [insert yawn emoticon here]!

What about the rest of the moose collective?

Bibiboo · 07/07/2004 18:38

Civil servant - (insert BOREDOM emoticon here). Work for Welsh European Funding Office, am married to a Primary School teacher.

Anyone else?

beansprout · 07/07/2004 18:38

Turtle - that's exactly what I did yesterday! She hasn't spoken to me since! Horrible old me, eh?! . Glad the checkup and hearbeat was ok (meant to say that earlier). I'm the same - a few seconds of that woosh woosh woosh sound, and I'm happy for another week!

Sooz - I do planning, legal and strategic work for a big charidee.

Hi lovelies.

Have been on teetering on the edge of tears all day, evil hormones searching for something for me to feel guilty about in order to really set me off!

Had a west end meeting today, and felt so uncomfortably pg. Huffed and puffed and really aware of my bump in my peripheral vision. Gulping slightly at how much longer/bigger there is to go.
Someone thought I looked tiny today, but turns out he thought I was due in August!

MI - Thanks for the encouragement. Any tips gratefully received. It's nearly a mile. What's yours? I can't help feeling it could be too much to expect of her. She's a real buggy girl.

Toots · 07/07/2004 18:41

Bibi - lovin' the Wonder. Golden Lady is me and dp's fave.

beansprout · 07/07/2004 18:48

Toots - you have just described the day I had yesterday!! Sorry to hear you are having the same today. Hormones are evil and are out to get us .

Will pass on suggestion made to me (by a wise Piglit) which is to do goddessy type stuff and know that the guilt/anxiety/sadness etc will pass.

I'm the same, I'm sure the laws of physics mean that if I get much bigger I won't actually be able to stand without falling over. In yoga last night the teacher made us stand on one leg. I'm sure she was taking the p*ss.....

Bibiboo SNAP - I work for HM Treasury!! Now you know why I'm so bored at work today...

sooz31 · 07/07/2004 18:55

oh Toots... you take it easy too. Indulge in something lovely and put your feet up as soon as you get home. There's absolutely nothing you should be feeling guilty about - we're 6m pregnant and gorgeous and curvy (if a tad uncomfy at times). Get DP to give you a great big tight cuddle later.

Meanwhile here's a little one from me (((())))

Bibiboo · 07/07/2004 19:00

Weekend plans ... anyone doing anything nice? I've got a day shopping planned for cute baby stuff then will take dh to cinema as a treat for his cooperation, and then an indian take-away when we get home - YUM! YUM! Cue terrible acid indigestion and garlic breath for Saturday night and Sunday morning, but who cares? It's till better than a hangover and garlic breath

sooz31 · 07/07/2004 19:08

Sounds lovely Bibi.

We're are shopping for 'bathrooms' (tell me, what's to look for in a new loo?)

Then I'm out Saturday night, leaving DH with DS, up to west-end for a hens night (should be fairly civilised - no L-plates/condoms I hope!).

Then on Sunday, weather permitting, we're hosting a family barbecue (DH's family) which I could actually do without as I'll doubtless be on my feet for most of it. Please rain !

I'm hoping to relax/sleep at some point!

beansprout · 07/07/2004 19:12

We are meant to have dsd with us, but not sure what's happening (looonng story, but "grim" and "difficult" cover quite a lot of it). Will have to see how it goes.

Will be going over to a friends new house on Sunday for coffee, chat and general cooing over her 7 month dd. Hurrah for girly stuff!

Oh, and am being reminded as I type.... will be kicked a lot by Beanie!!

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 19:31

I too was feeling a little that way and had the most amazing facial/back massage ever!! Toots try and treat yourself a little. Those pesky hormones will eventually ease off.

I work for JPMorgan in marketing. Yawn yawn.

Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 19:40

Bibi - had curry last night and did regret it afterwards, you know how you constantly feel bloated being pg well......I felt twice as big after my curry. I won't mention the flatulence

Sooz you must not over do it!! Let someone else do the cooking and tidying up.

No advice on toilet accesories I am afraid but you'll know a cool toilet when you see one.

Turtle35 · 07/07/2004 19:43

Bibi one last thing, not sure how your tail bone is holding up these days but with the extra weight mine, I can't seem to sit for more than 1 hour, most movies these days are 2 hours!! I squirmed and the baby kicked non stop when I went to the pictures last week.

beansprout · 07/07/2004 19:47

Beanie kicked LOADS the last time we went to the cinema, I think it's also because it's so loud in there!!

OP posts:
sooz31 · 07/07/2004 19:52

what are you going to see Bibi?

we've got my folks staying next week with an offer of a rare night out for DH and me - am mightily tempted to go and see Shrek 2!

Any other recommendations?
