Welcome Sair220!! Congratulation on your news, you don't have long. This is a really great thread, don't hold back on how you feel. Everyone is VERY honest, it's the best place to vent your frustration, pain, anger, and of course joy of being pg!!

I am so bummed I can't make it on Monday but am off to a lovely hotel for three days and am going to pamper myself, swim, read a novel and eat a lot of yummy food.

Huppa hope you enjoyed the rest?

Bean well done for sticking it out at work! You deserve a lot of rest and patting on the back.

I had my NCT class on Fri/Sat, must admit I really enjoyed it, didn't learn a lot I didn't already know but it was sure nice meeting like-minded people who live in the same area and are all due in Oct.

I would really like to sort out a meet up again and hopefully more of us can make it? Might be tricky to do before the impending (you know what) BIRTHS!!!

beansprout · 12/09/2004 21:41

Welcome Sair 220!! We are due on the same day! How are you getting on? This thread tends to go v quiet at weekends, so sorry we haven't got back to you sooner.

Turtle - would love to arrange another meet up, I know we are pretty near to each other, so count me in!

I seem to have collapsed since finishing work, feel like my strings have been cut now I don't have to keep going. Felt really unwell last night, dp nearly called the doctor, but 12 hours sleep has helped (get it while I can). I suddenly swelled up on Friday and called NHS Direct. They asked me if I had been jogging or playing tennis?!!!!! FFS!!

Hello Sair220, nice to "meet" you!

Those of you who are meeting up today, I hope you enjoy it and wish I could be there, but I am (a) in work and (b) in South Wales so it would be a bit tricky!

3.5 days left in work and counting...

I dreamed I had the baby last night, only in the street as it came so quickly, and then I couldn't find my DH to show him our new baby! Hope that doesn't come true!

motherinferior · 13/09/2004 09:04

PMSL at jogging and tennis, bean.

Enjoy the meeting, my lovely meeces. If anyone sees Toots, could you ask her to give me a ring (BS has my number)?

Bibiboo · 13/09/2004 09:05

Hi All, Welcome Sair.

Hope you're all having a lovely time in the meet up - me and Cerys are sulking in South Wales
I've had some birth dreams too - but never given birth in the street, hope that doesn't happen to you either Cerys. Although, on the plu side, it would all be over with very quickly

I feel like I'm so ready to burst now, and I've got 5 weeks left yet - goodness knows how Sair and Ben feel, due so soon!

piglit · 13/09/2004 10:22

Morning all. I hope you all had peaceful weekends. I have been trying to get my labour bag sorted as my m/wife told me off last week for leaving it so late. And my mum reminded me that it's 3 weeks and 2 days until d-day. Yikes.

Bibiboo · 13/09/2004 10:30

piglit, don't you mean "p-day" (pain-day?)

Don't know what I'm smiling about, I'm 2 weeks behind you, so when you're posting on the Birth Announcements thread, I'll still be waiting for the onset of my labour!

piglit · 13/09/2004 15:23

I'll probably be late and have to be induced! And I don't fancy that one bit....

huppa · 13/09/2004 15:47

Hi, hope the meet up went/is going really well. I want to hear all about it tomorrow.
Had a really lovely, relaxing weekend. I felt a bit guilty when I read your post Toots as it hadn´t occured to me to miss dh and dd - I was too busy enjoying the peace and quiet.
Welcome Sair - the meece here are all really supportive and if you´ve got any questions just fire away.
Piglit - I did think about packing my bag at the weekend and even got so far as getting it out of the cupboard, but got no further. Is everyone else packed and ready to go?
Bean - hope your feeling better.

Toots · 13/09/2004 16:39

Hello, Just back from Florence's having dropped the lovely Beansprout off at Argos Wimbledon to buy her very own £3.99 bouncy ball - hope you weren't planning particularly to keep that under your hat Bean.

We had a lovely time but missed the rest of you, and left poor Florence with mucho carnage - sorry Florence and thank you so much for having us. It was lovely to put names to faces and grumbles to bumps. Talking of which, we all look as different in the bump area as we do anywhere else. Perhaps if we had all been there we would have been able to play bump snap. Or maybe not.

ps Florence, sorry I seem to have pickpocketed Sam's sticky lizard, don't know how that happened. Can always post on!

geogteach · 13/09/2004 19:15

Fab meet up, great to meet you all. I think I ate too much can't get too excited about making dinner for DH! Hope the rest of you are well

Bibiboo · 14/09/2004 09:11

Piglit, none of us will be induced, I am sure of it. We will all go exactly to time, have straightforward labours and lovely jolly babies who love sleeping at night. Honest. I feel it in my moose bones ...

piglit · 14/09/2004 09:59

Morning meece. The meet up sounds like great fun. I have developed a really bad sore throat and a rotten cold in the last 24 hours and feel like sh*te. Can someone tell me what we can take? The last time I asked a pharmacist anything he told me that we could take nurofen whilst pg. Errrr.....

I've taken some paracetamol but want to avoid too much of that if I can - I already take it when my pelvis/pubic bone pain is bad. Can we take those mega high powered vitamins? Are there any homeopathic things we can take? Obviously I'll be eating plenty of chocolate....

Toots · 14/09/2004 10:27

Meant to say welcome Sair!!! And congratulations on your impendingness.

Started teasting dp about how a lady likes (needs/has to have) a nice trinkety thing from him when she has a baby. He gave me something last night. It's very special. It's a pendant that is a pebble he found when we went to Brighton, hung on a string from a gash camberwick bedspread that we are currently using to stem the leak from the water tank that Dave is going to mend on Thursday. I feel like a queen.

Btw, we are so going to have babies really soon. We are so marvellous. I kiss you all.

Toots · 14/09/2004 10:30

Piglit - forgot to say, so sorry you're feeling ill darling. Take care of yourself.

Bibiboo · 14/09/2004 10:40

Piglit, hot ribena with a dollop of honey is great for sore throats - and if it isn't, at least you'll be having such a sugar rush you won't notice the pain for a while hope you get well soon.
I've been having sore throats and teenager-esque spots are appearing on my back which I've never had before - am I run down or is it a little-known birth-is-imminent-sign?

Bibiboo · 14/09/2004 11:17

I put this on the childbirth thread as well, but do you think this is it..or am I mad?

I am 35+3 but for the last few days have been having A LOT of pelvic discomfort and pressure, especially when I stand up and walk about - it's really, really hurting! I've had nothing else apart from a few Braxton Hicks and a bit more discharge than normal, but no show or anything. I do feel like I am ready though, like I can't grow anymore and the baby is well down. Also, I've been having those niggly, something is wrong dreams and disturbed nights ...

beansprout · 14/09/2004 16:41

Hi everyone, hope you are all well and big shout to the lovely Piglit - hope you are feeling better.
Gorgeous Toots - no luck in Argos as they had sold old. Have to say, I felt a bit stupid buying a bit of gym equipment given that I am currently sporting a what, 45 inch waist? I also managed to order the wrong thing, and was given something to work abdominal muscles... I must have looked v desperate. Was going to try local Argos today but was thwarted by really a quite pressing need to find a toilet....

Bibi - you are describing how I feel at the mo - do you know if db's head has engaged yet? Bean is now 2/5 (was 4/5 last week) so why on earth I haven't got my back packed/cot assembled/car seat sorted etc etc is a mystery to my rational self. The bit of me that's in denial is very happy though thank-you-very-much.

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 14/09/2004 16:54

I don't know what the 5ths thing is about - rubbish midwife who doesn't explain anything. Just said baby's head is well down when I told he about the discomfort. Why don't the pg books mention the feeling of the baby's head trying to break your pelvis? And the ungainly waddle that comes from moving around the office in heels - yes, I know, WHAT was I thinking this morning..?!
Oh yes... I remember, toenail painting was a bit of a disaster last night so sandals are out until I can be arsed to get down there and wipe it all off again, and the only other shoes I have are heeled ones - not mega heels, but big enough to make me walk funny - must look a sight!
I could make DH earn his tea tonight by getting it off for me and giggle from on high as he gags on the smell of nail polish remover...

Bibiboo · 14/09/2004 16:57

Bean, I got a ball thing from Tesco in bright pink - doesn't get used much but looks nice bouncing about my living room. Sometimes I sit on it and pretend to breathe as if in labour, but more often than not I end up on my ar$e looking silly as the evil ball rolls away laughing (I can HEAR IT!)

beansprout · 14/09/2004 17:30

Don't you just hate it when inanimate objects conspire against you....?

Am impressed with toe nail painting efforts. I think I am doing well to tie up trainer laces at the moment. (which is never a glamorous look at the best of times).

Toots - think I am in denial about the baby thing again. I just think I have an awful lot of tidying to do, but it's mad to think an actual baby will be here soon. Just ridiculous.
(Love your regal pendant btw).

Flippin' 'eck! Just had epic top notch massage. Woman came with bed with hole in. Lay on stomach in sitting room for an hour, felt incredibly comfortable. Was slightly worried about noise from kitchen for first ten minutes. Did I REALLY leave a pan of water on to boil???? No. But I had put a wash on - dp called and asked for his lucky shirt to be washed for a tender meeting just before massage lady arrived - and I completely forgot and was spooked by water noise. Dur.

Beansprout! Gutted Argos let you down. You must have a ball, you must. Postage from them is £2.95 so would still only cost seven quid?????

Bibi funny - have just removed my toenail varnish in order to feel like natural joy of sex type woman in labour room. Having said which, will definitely be waxing legs some time soon.

eyelash · 14/09/2004 19:31

Delighted you all enjoyed the meet-up. Hope you had some extra chocolate for the rest of rest .

Bibiboo - it does sound like your baby is well down which could be the cause of your discomfort. But bear in mind if you are at all worried or concerned you should ring your midwife or go to delivery suite just to check everything out.

Piglit - I was going to suggest hot lemon and honey - and would half a tot of whiskey go amiss . Hope you feel better soon.

Well down to the last few weeks - I have been cleaning and clearing stuff from the house. dh says he is driven mad. I do love having the house clean though for a change. Still hoping for home birth but dependant now on iron levels and having a bllod test on Thursday.

Beansprout - A gym/birthing ball is really well worth it so order yours now . I would be so lost without it and even ds1 now watches his telly lying over it as well - we sometimes have to fight over it even.

Hope everybody else is well.

florenceuk · 14/09/2004 19:39

In foul mood today as had my scan and found out baby was transverse. DH on computer all day so couldn't look this up until just now - when I discover it is very serious indeed and may mean a Casaerean. DH bugging me because he has lots of work to do. DS failed to have nap today and acted up horribly at a friend's house who, coincidentally, is 6wks pregnant and so rather intolerant of toddler antics (mine and hers). Vent, vent, now off to try and lie upside down!

Toots don't worry about sticky lizard thing - donation to general bits of tat lying around your house I'm sure!
