Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

Florence what cr*p news So hope it changes -Geogteach you must tell Florence exactly what your yoga teacher did with those beanbags to get your transverse pos sorted.

Thanks for sticky lizard, dd has taken it to bed tonight, so at least it's tat that's currently getting attention!

Had a lurk on expecting May 2005 and guess who's posting? Fisil! Isn't that great!

Eyelash, chocolate was amazingly absent from the meet up BUT Florenceuk does an exceedingly mean carrot cake with delicious topping. Geogteach, embarrassed to say I had had an enormous tea with dd by 6pm.

fisil · 15/09/2004 07:32

Hi Toots, and everyone else. Yes, we did the deed, and thanks to Eyelash we made it first attempt this time! (just as well as I'm not sure our nerve would have stuck!). How are you all? Big and fat with swollen ankles? I can't wait

piglit · 15/09/2004 09:06

So sorry to hear about db being transverse Toots. I know that there are lots of excercises you can do to try to shift db round. Have a look on Google but let me know if you can't find them. It's mentioned in a couple of books I have and I could photocopy the relevant bits and send them to you.

I had a crappy 3 hours sleep last night with this stupid cold. I was so bunged up I couldn't breathe and ended up trying to sleep on our new glider rocking chair thing to give dh some peace.

37 weeks today. Lawks.

Hope everyone is feeling ok.

piglit · 15/09/2004 09:07

Sorry - my brain is a fug of fugginess today - sorry to hear about db being transverse Florence

sooz31 · 15/09/2004 09:41

hi everyone,

have been off on hols last week and today is the first chance I've had to myself here at home. Holiday was wonderful (I even look like I've been somewhere warm & exotic, rather than to a small cottage near Chichester!). was lovely time away from continued chaos and dust at home.. mmm, moses basket has nice film of dust on it, that will be fun to clean.

Had another appointment with my Obs yesterday and she reckons it's looking like I'm heading for anotehr c-section . Whilst DB head is down, it's floating about nowhere near engaged (which was the same as for DS1). I'm trying to be optimistic about it getting stuck in, as it were, but am struggling since 'decision time' is in 2 weeks. Florence, hope your transverse trouble wriggles around. Completely empathise.

Was also very sorry to miss out on meet-up. Completely fluffed up on dates! Sorry Florence.

Hope you are feeling better soon piglit. Olbas oil or Vicks rub might help with nightime breathing?

But quite wonderfully, DS1 is potty trained! Hurrah!! I'm so proud of him in his little Bob the Builder pants!!

beansprout · 15/09/2004 10:29

Florence, am really sorry to hear about transverse db, fingers and antlers crossed for a corrective wiggle very soon.

Toots - that sounds damn good, you go girl!

Ok here. Did plan to lie in this morning but was overtaken by the urge to iron things at 6.30am. Oh dear. Dp beginning to look scared as I impress upon him the absolute importance of sorting out yet another shelf/box/cupboard. Poor thing left the house this morning with five bags of charity shop stuff. To top it all I burst into tears when he said "blimey, look at all this stuff, looks like one of us is moving out".

When is normal service resumed then?

miffy2 · 15/09/2004 11:17

Hi all
I have been very neglectful of my fellow meese this month, due to being at home wih cra**y internet service, and having to collect DD at 12 from 'big' school each day and then entertain her and DS for the rest of the day...

Anyhoo nesting set in big time this week - I have packed up 5 large bags of clothes for charity and gone through all the baby stuff. I have no excuse to buy anything as I reckon I have about 30 vests and another 30 babygros for the first 3 months alone!

The bouncy ball is great, my midwife was impressed that I had one - except I told her I had bought it to try and tone the tummy after #2; instead it gathered dust at the end of the sitting room for several months...

Florence sorry to hear about baby's position. Mine is currently head down so I am doing what I can to keep it that way ( no bending over etc).

Have you tried or considered osteopathy or reflexology to try and turn baby? Both have had good results in this and similar cases. My osteo managed to treat a woman last week and her baby turned from breech to cephallic after one treatment (her pelvis was misaligned) - it may be worth a shot to avoid a section.

Toots · 15/09/2004 11:42

Nice to hear from you Miffy and Sooz. I'm worried now sooz, I didn't think subsequent babies engaged anyway? Why does obs not think you'll go into labour?

Lol at your tears Beanie girl, in the best possible way of course - diggin' that crazy groove.

Can't believe it, but have just handed in the draft of my script that I thought I'd be bashing away on for days to come. Hope it's good. I'm sure they'll have tweaks on it, still, wasn't sure I'd do it at all. Am now faced with all the things I thought I was so desperate to do when I couldn't do them. Hmmm, drill holes for shelves or go through kitchen cupboards? I know. Have a kip.

Bibiboo · 15/09/2004 14:52

Ironing at 6:30am Bean, are you mad? Are we all mad? I'm sure I've had such thoughts too...
Only 31 days until Boo is meant to arrive, I hope this baby is punctual and not like it's dad. If it is, i'll be transferring over to the Due in December thread instead!

Florence, try elephant walking to get baby to turn - it might turn just because it can't bear the thought of it's mum on her hands and feet, bum in the air, trying to get around the house without serious incident! Cleaning kitchen floor on all fours has been recommended too. Hope it turns for oyu soon adn you too can experience the joy (read: PAIN)of a low down head!

Turtle35 · 15/09/2004 15:39

My goodness you have all been busy posting, it's been good readin'

Bibi, I too have been getting horrendous pelvic pain, actually shooting pain down there, I have been told it's db head bobbing up and down, I hope she is engaged and will find out tomorrow.

Nesting continues for me too, except I am having all hard wood floors sanded and re-varnished which is madness at this stage cause the dust is everywhere and I just had the house painted from top to bottom, believe me I wish it were just cleaning and ironing! Poor DH has had to sort out attic and next weekend it will be the shed out in the back cause all his bicycles are going out there - he has three (don't ask)! Oh and the little carpeting I do have on stairs and landing will be professionally cleaned next week. Not only am I crazy but am spending a fortune!! Someone please tell me this urge will stop soon.

I still haven't packed my bag but have SIX flipping weeks still! God I am so ready to have this out!

Oh lastly, I know some of you may roll your eyes, but.....I officially have a nasty looking stretch mark below tummy button on left side. I thought I had escaped them but no such luck.

Every Moose must have bouncy ball - however will it look wierd carrying this big thing into hospital during labour? Obviously DH will carry large mentioned ball. They take forever to pump up. I got mine at JJ Sports shop. Think I got ripped off though cause it cost £25!

Piglit - are you feeling better?

Flo really hope that db turns for you.

Bibiboo · 15/09/2004 16:45

Turtle, you are mad having floors sanded at this stage (the mess would drive me mad) but it will be lovely once finished ... pity you won't have time to look at it! Also, I think you were ripped off - my ball was from tesco and cost £6.75 - although it is possessed and rather evil, so maybe I should have paid a bit more for an exorcised ball (haha, geddit?!)

And ... ONE stretchmark?
So far I've gone through two large tubes of Palmers Massage Cream for stretchmarks, a bottle of £10 Bio Oil, a pot of Vitamin E capsules duly split and rubbed into skin and copious amounts of other lotions and potions applied over the last 35 weeks - all of which have done NOTHING to help my stomach. I am hideous, grotesque, scarred creature But also can empathise - I remember my first one appearing all those years ago and it felt awful!

piglit · 15/09/2004 17:08

Hurrah for Neale's Yard! I have spent a fortune on stuff for my cold, stuff for labour and (most importantly) pampering type stuff. I also got some Floradix as recommended by all you lovely meeses. I can't wait for the energy burst (she says hopefully).

We're also having a load of stuff done in our house at the moment - not the best idea we've ever had but I'm hoping it will all be done by the time db arrives.

Turtle35 · 15/09/2004 17:27

Bibi your ball does sound a little posessed! Be careful.

I have been ruthless with various stretchmark oils too! Honestly I have spent a fortune on the stuff so I think it's just cause I am now so damn huge that my skin couldn't possilby stretch any more and I know it will.

Piglit what did you get from Neils Yard? I have had a sore throat for a couple of days and stuffy nose (nothing new there though) think I might have picked something up. I have managed to be actaully quite healthy for the last 8 months which is most unlike me. All I have ever taken in paracetemol.

Turtle35 · 15/09/2004 17:30

Bibi by the way you are NOT grotesque, you have stretchmarks because of the beautiful, wonderful baby you are growing inside of you.

piglit · 15/09/2004 17:32

I've got their equivalent of Olbas Oil which you can bath in and burn all night (I got through half a bottle of Olbas oil last night), some cough sweets, some Floradix and some v expensive bubble bath. Obviously the last one is more of a feel good thing....

Turtle35 · 15/09/2004 17:37

I tried the floradix for a couple of days and couldn't keep going without gagging. I might try the equiv of Olbas oil though.

Does anyone else have horrific heartburn lately. I used to only get it when I got into bed, now I have it all day long. I have been taking gaviscon but is it OK to take every day?

Toots · 15/09/2004 18:05

Turtle - speaking as a gaviscoholic, I say swig away. Are you taking ordinary or advance? I only ask because ordinary doesn't touch the sides with me now, advance is a lot better, and you know you can get it on prescription, therefore free and not ten quid a bottle. I get mine two bottles at a time.

Piglit, sorry you're still feeling under the weather.

Bibi my ball seems very well-behaved, nay, dull by comparison, wonder if I should take it back...

geogteach · 15/09/2004 19:51

Sorry to here I seem to have passed on the transverse thing florence, my yoga teacher basically got me into a shoulder stand using bean bags to support me upside down - not sure I can explain it well.
For heatburn I can recomend ranitadine (says not recomended for pregnancy but my obs prescribed it for me and i'm on the third pregnancy now!) A more expensive but more paletable version is pepcid 2 tablets.
I'm off to get my ball tomorrow, still worried about having it in the house with DS as we went to the friends house who has one for her son's physio today and he sniffed theirs out within seconds and wanted to bounce it round their living room.
Had DS hearing test yestaday, grommets are working but hearing hasn't improved so another referal. My dads responce was 'god help us if he had been able to hear properly for the last 3 years!' Have to say I agree, he never shuts up and can talk for England so it seems bizare that he may need a hearing aid.

Bibiboo · 16/09/2004 10:53

Agree with Toots about Gaviscon Advance - vile stuff, but if you can swallow it, it works a treat ... for a while at least.

30 days today ... woo hoo!

florenceuk · 16/09/2004 12:02

Well, I lent my bouncy ball to friend ooh about 2yrs ago. Decided I really needed it back to participate in spirit of the Moose group and also to help in the upside down thing. But friend's DH has reported back that he has broken his car key and is waiting for replacement to be sent from NZ! Is this a good excuse or what!

Watched part of Indiana Jones lying on cushions and a beach ball and felt virtuous if slightly lightheaded...

piglit · 16/09/2004 12:19

Just a quickie on the Gaviscon front. Have you tried Gaviscon Cool? It's positively yummy (very minty) and works a treat. I've had heartburn all day long throughout most of my pg and it's the best by a mile. I can't stand the aniseed stuff now - I associate it with morning(?) sickness and nausea. I've asked my m/w about Gaviscon and she, like the wise meese, said to swig away. My heartburn seems to have stopped now. Apparently that means db is moving downwards. Yikes....

If any of you get a cold please do try the Neale's Yard inhalation oil. I feel like a new moose today - I added some to my bath and put some in a burner in our bedroom last night. I slept all the way through (over 8 hours). And my bladder didn't even wake me. Marvellous. I'm also taking the Floradix in some orange juice. I did try it on its own but it is pretty awful stuff.

Turtle35 · 16/09/2004 13:27

Piglit, you have sold me!! I am going to get the Neales Yard inhalation oil, if it means I will sleep through the night (cold or not) I got up every flippin two hours last night and then at around 5.30 was wide awake thinkin about baby stuff.

Saw m/w this am and she is happy with moi and bubster which pleases me a lot, am only 2 cm over size now which is absolutely fine so if this continues I shouldn't have to be induced - Hurray!! My only complaint now is;

Heartburn
Bleeding gums
back ache
insomnia
restless legs
stretching pain in uterus
shooting pains through vagina (pressure from baby's head)

that's about it really!! Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather and thanks for advice on Gaviscon.

Turtle35 · 16/09/2004 13:52

opinions on alcohol warning this week. Any thoughts??

I hate reading this now when I have drank wine in moderation throughout pg. Never more than 2 glasses a day and not every day but maybe 3 or 4 times a week. this clearly works out to 6 - 8 glasses a week. have I overdone it?

Toots · 16/09/2004 14:22

Cheers Turtle! If you have, I have, as that's around my consumption level. Haven't had any since Sunday thinking 'oo-err'. But really...I think tonight's the night to take the brakes off.

Congrats on sleeping through, how gorgeous. I can handle getting up twice, but more than that definitely seems to have an impact.

Took dd swimming again but she was 'too scarey' so we went in the soft play area, which she hated last time I took her, 'too loud' but we were only ones in there and had an enchanted hour while I knelt forward up some nice soft steps. This was a good position for me to be in as I am slightly concerned the baby has turned posterior, the lovely arched back I've been feeling for weeks is much less apparent and kicks are in the middle of bump rather than nicely to one side. Will have it confirmed at m/w appointment tomorrow.

Bibiboo · 16/09/2004 15:49

I shouldn't worry about the alcohol advice too much ladies - that way I see it is that we're all responsible types who have done the best for our babies with the health advice we have been given. What more can we do, right?
And after all, this is only advice not hard and fast rules. Surely advice is only to guide us along with common sense.

Boy, I sound good. I too have had the odd glass of wine/sip of lager, and would have had much more had it not been for the terrible indigestion after it
