Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

I am going to try a different answer next time someone asks to see if people just say the opposite of you to be annoying, so when they ask how long I'll say "I'm due today!" and grin - maybe they will automatically reply with "oooh, you don't look big, enough"

Now wouldn't that be nice? I'll let you know if it works.

[lurks] Formula doesn't always work to get them sleeping...

Bibi - this was the \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=24002&stamp=040505213733\t-shirt thread]

Had fun raeding that T shirt thread again, made me
I do sometimes wonder if I were to go to a Due in January thread, if the things those meece are talking about are the same as what us lot were discussing 3 months ago... I'd feel like a bit of an intruder just popping in though ... but maybe I'll lurk and see

beansprout · 02/09/2004 15:52

I find the best threads to read (and esp. for us at the moment) are the ones where the meece are currently due. They are invariably willing labour to start as they are so fed up. Difficult to believe in the middle of our anxieties but v. reassuring.

It's great to read all your happenings gals. Bibi I was so sorry to read how sad you've been. This is the craziest time isn't it? Big hugs to you and to everyone.

De-cluttering is going slowly here. I can't imagine how dp has managed to accumulate so much stuff, nor can I imagine that he is seriously planning to get rid of an awful lot of it. Lucky old loft. More forgotten, unneeded tat for you. Thank golly we've got one.

Geogteach, your oblique/induction situation is worrying to me. As you may have already read, my experience of being induced with a malpositioned baby was not good. Twenty hours of contractions later, she had not shifted. I would get the consultant to be really honest with you about what they think the chances are of induction helping the baby to re-position so that it can be born? If the odds aren't great I would seriously consider skipping straight to the c-section. Hope you don't mind my frank opinion on this.

piglit · 03/09/2004 14:07

Phew - my pc is better again. I hope everyone is ok (I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread but just wanted to say hi). Things are ok with the Bumpster but it does seem to be getting more and more massive by the day. I too had a classic from a sales assistant today. She asked when I'm due and I said "just over a month" (yikes). She said "My god, you're huge. Are you sure there's just one in there". "Yes, completely sure. And my midwife assures me I'm an average size". "No offence love but I think your midwife is wrong". "Thanks - I'll be sure to tell her. There's probably an extra baby in there that they didn't spot." Prat.

Anyway, I wish you all a glorious sunny weekend with lots of rest.

florenceuk · 03/09/2004 14:09

Hi everyone

Feeling much better now I'm back to my usual diet (Danish, latte, Twix bars). Any ideas what to cook for lone dinner guest tonight appreciated! At this rate it will be M&S pizzas and salad...

Have to admit my nesting instincts are very low at the moment, although my jumper for DS is actually coming along OK - my first attempt at intarsia (Miffy are you there?)! I have done zero cleaning or sorting out. Here's hoping instincts kick in at some stage as I am not very organised at all at the moment. I need a loft!

Have arranged with childminder that DS will continue with her for 2 days a week until after Xmas - at least until we head back to NZ. I've decided I'll need the time off and it is a lot cheaper than hiring a maternity nurse or doula post-birth - esp as DH seems to be getting lots of work at the moment and is likely to be quite busy. How much time are your DP/DHs likely to take off? A week is not really long enough IMO esp for the first.

beansprout · 03/09/2004 14:10

"I think your midwife is wrong"???!!! Amazing! What is wrong with these people!!!??

OP posts:
piglit · 03/09/2004 14:31

Luckily I was in a good mood so I didn't just say "F* off you old bag"

Turtle35 · 03/09/2004 15:38

Piglit - you should of said it!! Welcome back, we were missing you

Florence my DH is going to take 2 weeks off but I have my Mom over from Canada also who I know will be great, she loves cleaning - insane but I don't mind when it's my house

Waiting for the bugaboo to arrive any minute now. I am really excited. However, after eating my chocolate brownie I suddenly feel exhausted and me thinks I need a little lye down. working from home is bliss at the moment.

beansprout · 03/09/2004 15:45

We are lucky as dp is going to take a month off. He starts a new job in November, so hopefully Bean will be on time (ish) and we can all spend the time together (instead of being on amber alert for me).

Ooh, ooh - Bugaboo - is it a red one?! We have the Beanmobile now (M&P Pliko TS) and I keep ahem, deciding it needs to be moved, just to practice...

OP posts:
Toots · 03/09/2004 15:45

Well Piglit, I think you know who we're all going to suggest you visit next time you aren't in a good mood...

Have just raced up the poor, bewildered plumber's ladder into the loft. Had to get the baby clothes down NOW. Just had to scratch that itch, mad moose that I am. Haven't done a stroke of work today (having been out at meetings all my other two work days worrying about how I'm going to finish it all). Did a nighttime flit to Mothercare last night for some bits. Don't actually need to buy very much this time, more's the pity.

Had a gorgeous midwife today at gp's who is going back to work on the labour ward at Lewisham next week. Would love to run into her in labour - she exuded warmth and confidence and was really nicely tactile.

Toots · 03/09/2004 15:49

What's the roll call for the meet up at Flo's? Can't believe I might see some of you in the flesh a week on Monday. So wish we could all be there

beansprout · 03/09/2004 16:10

I wouldn't miss it for the world!!
What time do you want us Flo?

OP posts:
florenceuk · 03/09/2004 16:17

Will post on meet up thread ASAP!

geogteach · 03/09/2004 16:43

Still oblique so scan mon or tues. I'm already up for being frank with consultant, if I'm likely to end up in theatre i'd rather it be planned than emergency.
Can I just say how jealous I am of anyone who doesn't have a 3 year old to wake them up at 6 every morning and then remind you throughout the day if you mention being tired 'I do wake you up too early!'

Turtle35 · 03/09/2004 16:59

Geoteach what a bummer!! I am sure your 3 year old is lovely but can try your patience too!! sounds sweet though aww.

What the hell is oblique sorry but I just haven't heard the term? can they try to coax baby to move?

I am with you on the emergency c section, forget that!! try and have good weekend not worrying about it though, let us know after the scan the outcome. did previous babies come out head first?

Turtle35 · 06/09/2004 11:43

had a very depressing fat day yesterday, I have never been this fat in my life, clearly I don't mean the bump, I mean my arms, legs, bum, double chin, don't even want to admit how much weight I have gained. Told DH I was feeling depressed because of feeling fat and his response was maybe you should go swimming

why are men so stupid sometimes?

beansprout · 06/09/2004 11:45

How is everyone today? Ok here... last week at work so am busy inducting my mat. cover and preparing myself for leaving, which will be VERY weird!!

Bean has got bigger over the weekend, and it has just dawned on me that s/he will be on one long growth spurt until the end now and I am not sure if I can deal with a bump that is any bigger/aches any more etc etc. I think I may be getting to the magic "just get it out" phase that I relying on so heavily re dealing with my fear of labour/birth! Fingers crossed!!

OP posts:
beansprout · 06/09/2004 11:47

Turtle - totally appreciate how you feel. It's really hot again and now bump is huge. I just didn't want to go out yesterday, I felt so self-conscious. Plus I keep mis judging my bump size so keep hurting myself on door frames etc.... doh!

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 06/09/2004 12:01

Turtle, men are useless and should keep their big mouths shut! But if it's any consolation I get comments like that too!

Bean, Iam also misjudging bump size and have a few door ahndle marks on my belly! hehehe

piglit · 06/09/2004 12:31

It must be fat time for us all. My arms are like sausages and I daren't even look at my legs or look in a full length a mirror. I asked dh if he thought I'd put on a lot of weight and his response was "You have a beautiful big bump but you don't look like you've put any other weight on". Total b*llocks of course but just what I needed to hear.

I hope everyone is ok. I really do struggle in this heat - roll on autumn. Oh, hang on, that means roll on D-day.....
