Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

Coddy - Piglit has been having problems with her computer, hence radio silence, but she's ok.

hi everyone

had horrible day yesterday as with some vile vomiting bug. Still a bit under the weather today so resting at home - I have watched some terrible TV and slept. Just want to send some calming vibes to all. Really, when it happens, it happens! DD-to-be is still breech BTW, so hoping she will turn at some stage.

Now going back to bed I think!

Turtle35 · 01/09/2004 14:10

Oh my goodness, I have been close to tears reading this thread today, Bibi you poor love, I understand your fear, it sounds like you are working yourself into a frenzy. Try not to upset yourself, the day will come for little one to appear in your life and I am sure it will be really hard work but you WILL do it. Sounds like everyone has been having panic attacks!! Although I too am terrified about the birth, I am so excited to meet my baby.

Today is my first day back at work for almost three weeks and it's gastly. I have one week left and I am so pleased, it was such a challenge walking to the tube, if you could call my very slow waddle walking.

Saw GP this am who has said I will go for scan at 36 weeks to see if baby is still growing at such a rapid speed. I am 3 cm over what I should be and if I am still that big at 36 weeks then they might look to induce me at 38 weeks. TBH I wouldn't mind if the bubster came 2 weeks early

The slightly problem is my Mum is due to come over from Canada to spend some time with us and I don't know when to tell her to come, she needs to book her flight soon or it will cost a fortune. GP said baby may not have a big growth spurt again and could be normal measurements at 36 weeks in which case I will go full term. Wish I had a definite answer.

Turtle35 · 01/09/2004 14:14

florence sorry to hear you are poorly, get back into bed and have you tried spending time on all fours? I have heard that may encoure soon to be dd to get head down.

Bibiboo · 01/09/2004 14:53

Lunch in the sun had me smiling, but back in baking hot office now and not quite so chirpy. But to be positive like I said I would, I am going home at 4 and will be too busy listening to dh moan about his first day back at school, sorry, "work" - am not supposed to call it school, hehehe, to worry about birth. After crying sesh at bedtime I am v v tired today so should crash out tonight without a problem. Am banning Discovery Health from tv tonight so no birthing mothers to upset me.

Anyone else having parentcraft classes? I was under the impression they were weekly things, that went on for about 6-8 weeks. Have just been told I will have 1 x 4 hour session at the hospital when I'm 37 weeks and that's my lot. Feeling a bit cheated with that.

Bibiboo · 01/09/2004 15:04

1 week to go Turtle, v jealous . After this week I have 3 left in work (but with 2 of the Fridays off), so ... quick calculation ...

A grand total of 14 working days left for me , then 20 days of realxing and being totally calm about birth, then Boo comes, on time, with no hitches. Yay!

Positive, positive, positive, sending out vibes to you all.

Bibiboo · 01/09/2004 15:08

Why isn't this working?!?!!?!

Anyway, it was loads of fun, sorry gals

Bibiboo · 01/09/2004 15:12

HAHAHA! I THINK I'VE CRACKED IT!

beansprout · 01/09/2004 15:14

It's pretty rough still being at work, have to say. Sympathies to all of us who are still there. Sounds like we are all finishing at similar stages in our pregs though?

Bibi - I have had a word with the great Moose goddess and you will be rewarded with the quickest, easiest birth as you have been the most anxious. Sorted.
I'm not doing parentcraft but have 4 classes - yours do sound a bit compact, have to say. Why are they doing it that way?

Turtle - if you are induced, we could all be done and dusted by about 20th! Efficient meece or what?!

Flo - get well soon, that sounds miserable.

Big Bean hugs to everyone else xx

total admiration for those still working, my mat leave officially starts today but as i've been on hols for 6 weeks I don't suppose it counts.
Haven't had much time for thinking about my own impending birth, saw friends today (all had babies same time as DS). One thought she was in labour last night, she is 27 weeks and her DS was born at 26 and has special needs, this is a very tough pregnancy for her. Another announced she was pregnant, great but unplanned and she has DS1 3 and twin DS2 and 3 18 months who were born at 28 weeks and are still very tiny for their age. Puts it all in perspective at least I only have one non walking child to contend with and there is no reason to believe she won't master it soon (please!). Oh and we've had blood on the carpet as DS was playing DR's with DD (unwilling patient) who didn't want her medicine and ended up with a split lip!

sooz31 · 02/09/2004 10:03

Golly, I've not had much chance to post in the last few weeks and I've missed you all. Hope everyone is ok, considering!

Bibi, I've been having CTS too, and have been reassured by the Dr that it will go almost as soon as the baby is born. Yours sounds particularly painful - mine is just more uncomfy - so hope it's not getting to you too much.

Am also getting really quite anxious about stuff - house is STILL a tip and is unlikely to be ready before my edd - which is on the 1st! This isn't helping things at all - I've started to try to get things ready but get thwarted by all the dust and mess and noise and chaos.

And we're trying potty training for DS - good grief.

On the bright side, db's head is down (but still thinks it wants to enter 2020 olympics as 'tae kwon do' medal contender).

What is it with rib plucking that makes it SO painful?

Bibiboo · 02/09/2004 10:42

Geogteach, soundslike you'll be well rested by the time EDD comes round.
I wish I had the patience and dedication to teach, if only for the lovely holidays. My dh is a teacher and has the patience of a saint and I do not, so he gets rewarded with lovely hols and I get to work while he's at home watching Sky Sports. And I still have to pay for expensive non-term time holidays too.

Feeling much better today, hope the rest of the meece are too. Wearing overnight splints mean I have lovely, non tingly hands this morning and could eat my coco pops for breakfast again (couldn't hold spoon last week). Didn't cry last night either, things must be looking up

Eveyone else okay?

beansprout · 02/09/2004 11:23

Ok here, feeling pretty chipper, although I do tend to deteriorate into a moaning moose by the end of the day, so don't read too much into that!

Sooz - db here is bidding for sports glory too. Dp informs me that Bean is kicking so much this week as s/he is excited about the England game. Er... I don't think so. Nice try though!

I'm not forcing myself to nest and am relying on being like a possessed mad woman nearer the time. In meece we trust.

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 02/09/2004 11:52

The moose mad woman has already come out in me Bean - despite backache when I got home last night, I prepared dh a v healthy tea of tuna salad, swept the living room, dining room and kitchen, washed all the dishes (which isn't even my job) and the washed down all the surfaces as well, Kim and Aggy stylee. Then I did the filing of papers, filled out the application for my new driving licence and the forms for house insurance. Oh, and I cleaned the little toilet too.
Please note: I didn't WANT to do any of this, esp when dh wasn't there to help, I just HAD to IYKWIM. Goodness knows why I only get bursts of energy for cleaning, I don't get them for getting out of bed or going to work or doing the weekly shop, just cleaning. Mother Nature is a twisted woman.

I've still got a quiet little Boo in my tummy, who doens't get burst of energy. I was worried that he/she was too small or had something wrong and that's why I wan't feeling much movement, but now that worry has been replaced with the terror that my baby is actually too big to move very much and I have to give birth to a monster! ouch.

Bibiboo · 02/09/2004 13:38

A woman in the greengrocers just asked me how long I had left and when I said "6 weeks" she replied with "oooh, I thought you would say you were due next week sometime..." She was duly silenced by the look on my face which obviously said "Shut up you old hag, I feel big enough and heavy enough as it is without you reminding me!"

On an up note, bought a lurvely big bunch of flowers and box of choccies for friend's birthday tomorrow, but I can't see the chocolates making it out of the fridge alive if I'm honest!

beansprout · 02/09/2004 14:14

Bibi - I honestly believe that people just don't know what a preg. woman is supposed to look like. I am spot on size for dates but still get the "twins?" etc comments. Doesn't make it any less tiresome though. I have taken to not replying but just looking at them in that quizzical head tilted manner that dogs are known for. It's quite effective as it kills the "banter" but has the benefit of being more socially acceptable than "f**k off and stop talking rubbish".

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 02/09/2004 14:31

Bean I think your approach is spot on girl!!

Bibi you sound much better today, I am please the splints have helped you. I understand your pain and it tends to get one down and very sad at times so keep chin up.

my nesting is getting out of control sometimes and I am not doing my back any favours. This am I was eyeing up all of our clean laundry that needs to be put away and was thinking of sorting by mine/his, shirsts, then trousers then by color! Oh my god what is wrong with me. I live in a rather cluttered house, DH won't throw anything away and I am desperate to be clutter free.

The nursery is almost complete and every time I look in her room I feel so gushy inside, it's looking so beautiful now I could just sit in there all day staring at all the little things, I have sorted out the baby grows and so on and am tempted to make the cot up even though I am planning on using a moses basket for a while.

Good news, close friend gave birth two weeks ago, baby boy would only take formula but he has an 11.00pm feed and sleeps til 5.00 am!! isn't that fantastic. As much as I plan to breast feed (hope I can) I am tempted to go with the forumla for the evening feed! Is anyone else thinking of trying this?

Bibiboo · 02/09/2004 14:43

Turtle, get rid of the clutter gradually, just a bit here and there and your DH will NEVER know!
We have had a major clear out these last few months (after the shock realisation that we just had too much stuff and more important things on the way) and have made a mini fortune via Ebay. It is true that people will buy almost anything! I advertised one toy as "Hideously Ugly Purple Bear" and it got loads of interest and loads of bids too
Or, have a mad moose day, throwing everything you deem unnecessary into black bags, chuck them in the car and get them to your local tip/charity shop/recycle point before your DH knows anything about it. I promise it will be very liberating and you will feel like a domestic goddess when your house is clutter free.
Bean, I think you're right, people have no idea how a pg woman should look as I too am perfectly normal for my dates. Grrrrr.

Bellie · 02/09/2004 15:03

Hi all seems like you are all having good days today after having pains and emotions running havoc! I know my emotions have been all over the place!
Went shopping in M&S today and the cashier said "oops better not keep you waiting don't want you having the baby here!" I have 8 weeks to go and like everyone am the right size for my dates!! I am so fed up with it!
Still part of me wouldn't mind the monkey coming early as am getting really excited as have finished the nursery today... However no where near ready in other ways - having the downstaris carpet ripped up and wooden floor put in next week so hope the monkey doesn't make an appearence then!

Bibiboo · 02/09/2004 15:23

Didn't someone once suggest T shirts with something along the lines of ...

I'm due in x weeks,
No, I HAVE NOT got my dates wrong and
I don't know the sex

printed on them? Where can I get one?

beansprout · 02/09/2004 15:27

Turtle - will be breastfeeding if I can too, so hadn't really thought too much about the formula feed. I understand that it generally keeps little dbs fuller for longer so can see how that would work as we are all trying to drop off to sleep.

I have been decluttering by stealth too (heh heh)

Re shop assistant comments - I can give you my mobile number and whenever you get a comment, just call me and I will rude to the stuipd person, thus leaving you blameless but relieved?
