Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

Aw Bean, your lil bean is naughty. Olympics at 5am - does it get light in your room at 5am? Maybe lil bean just knows it's morning time.

My boo is pushing his/her bum down onto my bladder with some considerable force and it feels like I'm either going to wet myself or my pelvic floor will give way and my insides will fall out! Why so heavy down there all of a sudden? I can still feel Boo's head under my ribs, so he/she's not turned yet. Backache is back too so misery is my middle name.

As far as names go Huppa we're going backwards. We had loads to begin with and now not one we can agree on. This poor child may end up being called Boo after all.

florenceuk · 13/08/2004 11:19

Hi everyone. Happy to say I actually slept quite well last night after two rather horrendous ones - probably sheer exhaustion. Am tempted to buy a new mattress as our current one is so hard, I wake up with numb legs and arms - any recommendations? Hoping everyone gets to sleep a bit better now weather is a bit cooler.

Names - well, we have not got very far. This is partly because I think DH has not really registered this pregnancy and impending birth, and is refusing to think about anything to do with making it a bit more concrete (like moving cot). In fact the main thing he has been obsessed with is his new digital camera - grrr. Admittedly we have some lovely holiday shots but now DS has taken to shouting No photos when DH points the camera at him!

Have a lovely day off Bibiboo!

Turtle35 · 13/08/2004 14:08

well I have had a terrible 4 days with my back! went to GP yesterday who signed me off work for 10 days, which means I will have a week in Italy and then just TWO weeks at work and will be finished on 9 Sept. Dr said do nothing and must take it easy, I went to physio today who has helped and will keep going during pg. I wake up every other hour with pain in my back so am totally exhausted

I have been nesting like crazy, having entire house painted from top to bottom, needless to say the dust and dirt is driving me crazy and I can't do a damn thing about it, hoovering would kill me at the moment - thank god we have a cleaning lady, just realised upstairs toilet is blocked - hurray! what next - must call plumber.

I am now doing all of my shopping from the comfort of my desk at home

have started to think about Christmas shopping too.

we know we are having a girl, the nursery has just been freshly painted light pink and it's gorgeous, all of the baby furniture is white. I am going to love it when it's all finished - can't wait. have about 4 girls names chosen but will wait till she arrives to choose final name.

Bean I got the Jo Jo shortie pj's think you've got them? they are just what I wanted, except waist band is leaving an indent around the bump

am going to go for a little paddle in the pool, physio said just walking around in the shallow end is good for tummy muscles and back.

Bibiboo · 13/08/2004 14:58

Turtle - cleaning lady? What a luxury! Am v

I suppose I'm lucky DH is a teacher and is taking care of most of the hosuework now he's on his hols, but I know I'll be the one painting the livingroom next week - he can climb the ladders and move the sofas though!

Bibiboo · 13/08/2004 14:59

Sorry Turtle, is awful about your back too, but good news about being given 10 days off to rest and finishing work on Sept 9th.
Enjoy the pool

beansprout · 13/08/2004 15:17

Sorry to hear about your back Turtle - that sounds v miserable . In pain AND exhausted - rest well and hope you get some respite (and some sleep) soon.

eyelash · 13/08/2004 15:29

Turtle - sorry to hear about your back-ache. Not sure if this will help but I suffered with ds2 from backache and found lying over my birthing ball brilliant. As mine was caused by a trapped nerve from him lying funny it may not help but is worth a try. It is also fantastic for optimal baby positioning (beansprout?). In fact I had it so down pat by the end I was able to get hugh a*e right up in air on couch, lean over ball and watch c*p telly all evening. But it did the trick in the end.

The only way I manage to get comfortable at night is with my long pillow - absolutely fantastic. DH feels it is a barrier in the bed but that's tough for the remaining weeks.

Hope everybody else is well.

florenceuk · 13/08/2004 15:31

Turtle I found swimming was good for me - although my back was not nearly as bad as yours sounds. Also on holiday I did lots of walking, and although I groaned at the time, I notice my back is better now. It's sitting at a desk browsing Mumsnet that does the damage for me unfortunately! Have a nice break and chill out (esp over hoovering!)

beansprout · 13/08/2004 15:41

Eyelash - sounds good, just trying to picture this - did you sit on couch but lean onto ball and let it take your weight?

Dp came into front room last night and found this moose on all fours. Bless him, he was very proud of me (not sure what I did, but hey, happy to carry on doing it!)

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 13/08/2004 16:31

Eyelash, I am trying to picture this also? did you lean over bump down or up? I can't lie on my bump - however I do sit on my ball with legs apart rolling back and forth, trying to do the pelvic tilt and my pelvic floor exercises .

Turtle35 · 13/08/2004 16:36

Bibi you shouldn't be painting - it's hard work, you should be taking it easy. I know it's totally frutstrating not being able to do something when especially prior to Moose state you were able to do it easily.

My nesting has gotten a bit crazy, I am descaling everything in the house on a regular basis, just had my Ocado delivery (what a great service) it was mainly cleaning supplies - everything in bulk, she says as scoffing down a big pack of gummy bears, they have real fruit in them

Bibiboo · 13/08/2004 20:26

I've already got my plan Turtle: I'll do the outline (i.e. all the hard cutting in bits round the corners etc) then DH can colour the rest in (i.e. all the actual hard work, painting whole huge bare walls with a tiny roller) :0
He thinks the colour I've chosen is 'bedroomy' not 'livingroomy' but I dont' care. And he keeps calling it purple - it's NOT! It's Himalayan Musk and will only be on 2 walls max, the rest will be white (ha ha, not for long with baby around!) And anyway, I am super confident it will look great as I've already tried it out on Dulux Mousepainter website - which is excellent time-wasting fun by the way

beansprout · 13/08/2004 20:53

Turtle - what's a pelvic tilt exercise?

OP posts:
eyelash · 14/08/2004 14:55

I will do my best to explain the position. Firstly kneel on couch then lean forward onto the ball. I found the most comfortable way of setting myself up was with a slim cushion on the ball to rest my face on (facing telly obviously ), and my arms and upper chest resting completely on the ball. This left boobs and belly hanging freely very comfortably. As I have already said I was a desperate sight but it helped the backache so much.

Hope the description is ok. BTW had to move telly so that I could align myself to be parallel with the telly and have a good view.

Turtle35 · 15/08/2004 14:44

Eyelash I think I get it now. did you have your thighs and knees bent but on the sofa? so the gap between ball and sofa allowed you to let your bump and boobs hang down? didn't that make your back curve forward? I will go and give a try right now

Bean, pelvic tilt is when you tighten your bumb muscles (ya right) move your hips up and think of sucking your tummy in so moving baby bean to the back. It's hard to explain, supposed to be good on the birthing ball and lyeing down with knees bent which I do 20 every night before I go to bed. You have to hold it for 5 seconds, like the pelvic floor exercies.

Toots · 15/08/2004 20:01

Eyelash - meece round the country will be rolling off sofas in their desire to emulate you. Me too when I can borrow a birthing ball.

How's everyone's weekends? We had a bbq (only for 3 mates and a baby) on Saturday night and lunch guests on Sunday! Mental sounding, but do you know what, it was great. Everyone bought extra grub - puddings specifically and dd seemed really happy to be part of the action which actually gave me a real rest and....after an 8.30 bedtime on Sat, she slept til 8.30 am on Sun! Couldn't believe it. Felt better today than have done in ages with the extra hour's kip and didn't even want a nap.

Bibi, I like the sound of Himalyayan Musk.

Toots · 15/08/2004 20:04

Result! DP has agreed to give me a back massage in 10 mins - the first of this pregnancy. Roll on unseemly bickering where I try and persuade him to go on for longer and he says no

Turtle35 · 15/08/2004 20:36

Toots - back massage!! Aren't you the lucky one. I just send DH off to shop for chocolate biscuits, can't believe we ran out!!!

Pleased you are feeling so well, you deserve it!!

Bibi I like the sound of your Himalayan whatsit!! too

beansprout · 16/08/2004 10:06

Choccy Biccies and back massages - that's what we like!!

Very quiet weekend for me. I'm about as much fun as a stick at the moment. Did spend a lot of time reading about the birth, so, not feeling anxious at all now then, no, not a bit, and you needn't think I am, 'cos I'm not.....

Thanks for the description Turtle, by jove I think I've got it! One question - is this one we do lying down and what are the benefits? (Sorry, that was 2 questions...)

Always like to join in on random pg symptoms, but numb bump Bean? That's a new one on me I'm afraid.

We have no chocolate in this house. How did that happen. Must have eaten it all. Just left dd doing jigsaw, promising to go and make lunch. She's always catching me on mumsnet when I'm supposed to be doing something else

beansprout · 16/08/2004 13:41

Eek! Am now getting paranoid about numb bump as enquiries in the office have only met with odd looks/"no". Will ask GP tomorrow, when she has finished telling me off for not going for non-specific (ie she didn't know what it was for)blood test.

Lack of chocolate is not good Toots. Please remedy asap before I get upset (easily done today, am VERY hormonal and have now made myself feel ill trying to comfort eat my way out of it).

Toots, the Spatone arrived Friday morning and I have been very good at remembering to take it so far! I think DH is taking it too, although obviously he's not pregnant. Will let you all know how it goes. As I said, my iron is always on the lowish side, so it certainly won't hurt to supplement for a few months.

At the weekend we were out for a stroll and DD2 wouldn't go in the buggy, so DH was carrying her and DD1 was holding his hand. They did all look rather like a picture from a parenting magazine or catalogue. A young girl (well, about 20, but that's young to me!) gave DH several lingering looks as she passed by, then she saw Mummy moose waddling several paces behind, pushing an empty buggy. She looked me up and down and then went back to eyeing up DH . Didn't do a lot for my confidence in my appearance and I wanted to have a DD1 type moment and stamp my foot and say "MINE!" I suppose I was a bit flattered that she fancied my DH, but as you all know, pg ladies are most sensitive.

Hope everyone now has chocolate in the house.

eyelash · 16/08/2004 15:19

Toots/cerys - My doctor has given me a perscription for spatone which is fantastic as it is quite expensive - my last count was 9.8 which is dire so in a desperate attempt to get it up by bloods at week 36 I am on 3 sachets a day.
