Loulee · 18/04/2007 20:26

Blimey!! (in the best possible way!)
It makes mine feel more imminent - can't wait actually, so long as I have all this f*ing work finished in time!

Keep us posted!
Lx

midnightexpress · 18/04/2007 21:25

oh how exciting, hope everything gets going soon WO - sounds like things are moving anyway. How nice to have babies in the springtime.

Loulee - not that long now. Nearly into that last trimester now!

Look forward to hearing all the news.

lazyemma · 18/04/2007 22:08

hallo!

Cor - wee onion, sounds like you won't be long after me.

My baby daughter Bethan was born at 00:14 on Tuesday 17th April, after a 3 1/2 hour labour which kicked off pretty much immediately after the prostin pessary was inserted! It was a bit intense, to say the least. She is 8lb 13 oz, very sleepy, and just about perfect.

weeonion · 18/04/2007 23:02

wayhey lazy - fab news! congrats to you and what a short labour! glad you and baby so well.
so the gel worked then - did you stay in from monday night? i take it you are home and resting?

OP posts:
lazyemma · 19/04/2007 08:07

yes, I wanted to stay in for a day and a night so I could make the most of the support available - I've never so much as changed a nappy in my life before. So I stayed in all Tuesday, and came home yesterday afternoon.

She's good as gold: at the moment, she just sleeps. I'm slightly worried that she's not feeding nearly enough, but she's not crying for food - she just doesn't seem that hungry. Apparently some babies take a while to "come round" after the birth. Going to ask the midwife about it today when she comes to visit.

Loulee · 19/04/2007 09:36

Wonderful news lazyemma! - and sounds like the perfect labour (if there is such a thing! - at least nice and short!) Take it easy + make the most of the rest while LO is resting.
I was the same - never changed a nappy, never even held a baby until 3 months before dd1 was born (and then that was me asking my SIL if i could hold hers to see what it was like!! )
Yes, midnight, really looking forward to getting into the home strait.
oh and last night was the first time in about a year that dd1 hasn't woken up - yipee!!

Loulee · 19/04/2007 09:38

Lazyemma, meant to say, she sounds content, I wouldn't worry so long as there's lots of nappies to change

midnightexpress · 19/04/2007 10:19

Great news lazyemma - v of your short labour, though must have been pretty hardcore!

I wouldn't worry too much about the feeding (this is the world's most over-anxious breastfeeder speaking btw) - it often takes them a few days to wake up, and they have reserves of fat, so don't need much more than a bit of colostrum for a few days - that's why they often lose weight in the first few days. Make the most of the sleeping opportunities - it won't last long!

Hope you're snuggling up and getting lots of rest.

TALLULAHBELLE · 19/04/2007 10:44

Congrats Lazyemma.

Vio · 19/04/2007 12:06

weeonion · 19/04/2007 21:15

hey folks. bit of a strange day here. had show at just after 7am - awake from 5am with what i thought was trapped wind! pains on / off all day and really really slowed down around midday when i lay down to watch telly. coming about every 7 mins bu ti dont think this is it as i can bear them ok - do need to stop when they hit me but otherwise i am ok. so basically - i dont know if i am in labour or this is a practise run. went out for big long walk with dp and stopped off in cafe to have coffee. had to try and disguise breathing when 2 freinds came over to say hello!

Huge congrats Lazyemma!!

How exciting WO, it does sound like things are getting going. I had dinner with mt DH and his work colleague when my contractions were every half hour or so and neither of them believed me as I wasn't screaming the place down LOL !! My contractions never got that unbearable really.

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/04/2007 16:22

Loulee Just wondering, got a friend 14 weeks pg, looking for m/w as hasn't seen anyone yet. Patient @ Radnor St but not keen on GP. Think you said m/w good there. Is she best to see m/w there or to see if can see the team @ QMH?
