I am so excited to know that there are so many babies arriving in the next few weeks!!!

just bumped into a girl i met in my antenatal class when i was dropping my husband off the station....when i met her she was 35wks & it was 13 Feb but it doesnt seem that long ago...and shes pushing her baby with her hushand already!!! i was thinking to myself....oh.. a few more weeeks now...i will be pushing our pram!!!

lazyemma · 30/03/2007 20:16

it's mad, isn't it. I was thinking in the bath just now - it doesn't seem any time at all since I first found out I was pregnant, and here I am about to pop at any time.

I'm really making the most of my last few days of 'freedom' though - getting lots of sleep, lazy afternoons, long bubble baths, and generally looking after number one.

geordiemacminx · 30/03/2007 21:20

banana - I had a feeling you might have been at the class!!! Yes I was there - first week with dp, last week with my mum as dp was in belfast.

So you know who I am but I still have no idea who you are!! Please come and introduce yourself on tues at the breastfeeding workshop though!!! I'll post on tuesday morning and tell you what I'm wearing - perhaps a carnation in my lapel!!

Know what you mean emma about reality setting in - I went to have my hair done today, and the girl was saying "oh next time I see you, you'll have your baby" it kinda freaked me out a bit!!! I think I'll miss my bump!!

Weather is supposed to be good this weekend ladies - so I insist that all those with bumps take full advantage!!!

weeonion · 31/03/2007 00:01

gm - guessyou didnt head to liverpool tonight - a morning trip then is it??? we'll wait and see if charlie makes an appearance over the weekend!

yep - strange to think that in a few short weeks - there'll be pics posting ahoy on this thread when we all go....... then the tales of new babbies. all the fun to come. lazy -like you - i'm really enjoying mat leave - loving it actually! the longest baths i've had for years in daylight which seems strange somehow. feels weird not to be heading to work at the crack of dawn and dp is loving the new blissed out an relaxed me. so am i and even the cat seems mellower. coud be a hormone surge tho'.

a nct buddy emailed tonight. she is due 2 days after me and has been told that her bubba is well on its way to be over 10lbs if it goes to term - she's to expect an epidural straight off and probably a section. nothing like instilling confidence in her! poor thing seems have terrified.

WO - could that be your nesting instinct kicking in??? . Can't say I really noticed mine, though I did have an irresistible urge to put things in boxes for a few days. My yoga teacher reckons that the reason women never needed to be induced in the past was because they spent all day on their hands and knees scrubbing floors. Suspect she may have a point.

Vio - hope you have a lovely time with your mum. How long is it since you've seen her? hope she's lined up for cooking and cleaning duties once LO arrives?

Such a gorgeous day, we're off to the park for a picnic. Hope you gals are all enjoying it and thanking your lucky stars the babies will all be out before any hot weather arrives (Loulee, when are you due? Is it July?).

Loulee · 31/03/2007 18:56

hi all,
yep midnight, due july - prob 23rd for a section - very strange knowing the date. Am I the only one who wont miss my bump?? I positively hate being pregnant and can't wait to be back to being me again!
absolutely lovely weather today - we were all out in the park too - very mellow

so exciting all these new babies - keep us posted! - and make the most of those lovely long baths - very jealous!!

midnightexpress · 31/03/2007 19:07

Oh, that's a shame Loulee, but I imagine with 2 LOs it must be a bit of a pain not being able to bound around - I certainly found it harder 2nd time around.

We had a grand old time in Pollok Park this afternoon - the good weather makes it much easier to potter along at the snail's pace of a 16mo , though we are just about to try and extract the prickles from his had where he insisted on tramping through a bramble patch .

Loulee · 01/04/2007 09:34

I spose it's not that bad - and you seem to have to bound around more if anything!!
Glad pollok park was good - kelvingrove really felt summery. have a good sunday

geordiemacminx · 02/04/2007 10:51

morning ladies - sounds like everyone had a nice weekend, hope we are all taking advantage of todays sunshine!!!

No sign of baby yet, not even any little twinges - although he was a bugger all weekend and wouldnt stop moving aroun - so much so that the top of my tummy is sore to touch cos its bruised!!

Getting a bit sick of people telling me that "ooo he'll be a while he hasnt dropped" or "oh your carrying low, he'll be here within the week.." Gotts try and not think about him comming otherwise I'll be manic if he is overdue!!!

LieselVentouse · 02/04/2007 11:03

WeeOnion, when are you due?

LieselVentouse · 02/04/2007 11:12

Does anybody have any info, i.e dates, venue for the Mile for Maude up here?

geordiemacminx · 02/04/2007 11:15

think its the 12th May, but not sure who is "co-orinating" it? Its pretty close to WO, Vio, Bananasarny and my due dates, so I know there is none of us have ben able to give definates?

bananasarny · 02/04/2007 13:08

Hi everyone,

Corr its going to be like Domino's isnt it all dropping one after the other!

Nice weather but dunno about anyone else I've got swollen legs feet etc etc! that the slightest bit of heat puts me off!!

Got one of those gym balls in Tesco at weekend to bounce on was £8 I think - thats supposed to be good for getting the baby in right position and yes is linked to our non floor scrubbing lifestyle and loungy seats that they go to funny positions!

Geordie I'll see you there, I'll be wearing black jogging bottoms and a grey cardigan (dead attractive) and have longish hair so will find you somehow. Dunno if I'll be on line in morn am quite slow!!!

lazyemma · 02/04/2007 14:46

hi everyone

No sign of any action here either. Spent 2 hours last night on my gym ball, watching Nightmare On Elm Street.

Finally got around to buying a travel system today - got one of those three wheeler ones with different bits that slot on to the chassis. Unfortch, we've left it so late that it won't be delivered until next Monday at the earliest, which is two days after my due date! If I'm early we won't have the carseat attachment to bring bubba back from the hospital, so the lady at Mothercare said we can borrow the display model if that happens. Phew.

midnightexpress · 02/04/2007 18:28

trying to frighten the bubba out lazyemma?

lazyemma · 02/04/2007 18:44

lol! yes, unusual tactic.

What a rubbish film, though. I must be one of the only people in the western hemisphere who has never seen it before, but had always assumed it to be a classic of the horror genre. There was about one genuinely "eek" moment, but other than that it was just irritating. As the film wore on, I was wishing gruesome deaths on everyone in it.

weeonion · 02/04/2007 19:44

lol lazyemma - i agree with you on nightmare. i remember atching it as a teen and thinking - when am i meant to get scared.... where are you goign for the baby - queens mums or southern??

leisel - i am due on the 18th april - just over 2 weeks to go! gmm is right - the mile for maud is on teh 12th may. i am not sure of the glasgow venue - possibly kelvingrove or botanic gdns?? i am not sure how up i will be for it but if possible - yep - i'd like to do it. r u planning to??

OP posts:
lazyemma · 02/04/2007 20:01

neither, weeonion - I've moved to Fife now, so will be sprogging at Ninewells in Dundee. It's quite a busy hospital but it's got a good reputation, though no birthing pool unfortunately. The only slightly worrying thing is that we have to cross the Tay Bridge to get there - not a problem 99% of the time, but periodically they close it for a few hours overnight for maintenance. We've got the number for Bridge Control in case this happens when I'm in labour - apparently they'll open it up just for us to go through! exciting.

I remember a discussion with you about music stuff on another thread - have you seen the line-up for Indian Summer this year? Looks quite good. Also there's Connect Festival on at Inveraray Castle at the end of August - Beastie Boys, LCD Soundsystem, Mogwai, Primal Scream, Go! Team, Jarvis Cocker, Cansei Ser Sexy, Bjork, Divine Comedy. I'm sorely tempted.

weeonion · 03/04/2007 02:37

hi lazyemma - and apols at forgetting you were a taysider!!! that would be quite an added adventure getting the bidge opened in yr labouring honour!!!!
i do indeed remember yr earlier posts re music. i went to teh arcade fire gig and few weeks ago - fab fab fab night. danced away with dp - i think he was kinda hoping i would go into labour in the barrowlands. we ahve tickets for a full afternoon / night event at the CCA in glasgow n teh 26th april to see Electrolane, amongst others. i am due on the 18th and know full wel that i probably wont be able to go but hey - pals will use our tickets if we are up to eyes / ears in induction, late labour or indeed nappies.

we ar serioulsy considering indian summer. are you?? we coudl have a mumsnet meet up??

OP posts:
lazyemma · 03/04/2007 06:42

I am so, so jealous - I was dithering about that Arcade Fire gig (I would've been 37 weeks preg, I think, and would've had to travel over from Fife) and by the time I decided to just go ahead and book the tickets, they'd all sold out. Rubbish.

Yes, very tempted by Indian Summer too, although they're being quite shady with the line-up it looks v. promising already. I really enjoyed it last year, apart from the drizzle and lack of alcohol because of being preg. We should definitely do a mumsnet mini-meet!

midnightexpress · 03/04/2007 08:34

Was talking to some pals about the Indian Summer festival the other day - what kind of vibe (for want of a better word - ugh) is it? Would it be the sort of festival you could take a 21mo and a 7mo to? Primal Scream are one of my favourite favourite live bands. I saw them first (wait for it...) in 1985, a fact which would be deeply depressing were it not for the fact that it means they're even older than I am. rest of the line up looks good too. Hmmmmmm.

geordiemacminx · 03/04/2007 08:48

just had a look at the website - no under 5's

lazyemma · 03/04/2007 08:56

You could totally take your kids along, midnightexpress. Indian Summer is on a much much smaller scale than something like T in The Park, with a more chilled, less beermonster sort of atmosphere. Last year, I spotted a fair few families with young children. Because it's smaller you don't spend all your time in queues for the bar or food, and you could look round the stalls etc without getting jostled all the time. And there was less rubbish everywhere. Also, because it's in the middle of Glasgow it was easy to get to - I parked on a street about two minutes away both days, and it's well served by public transport.

The only downside, as I recall, was a catastrophic miscalculation of the number of portaloos needed on Day 1, which meant a lot of furtive peeing in bushes. This had been resolved by Day 2 thankfully, which bodes well for this year.
