hi folks - hello to you all and hope you are well. havent been on in ages but keping up to date with vio. others have said it all here - but my thoughts are with u 3.

there was a suggestion to meet up this month - i think i suggested the 23rd - argh. i think tulla's suggestion of getting our head together for a fundraising idea is great. not sure when suits folks - through the week or the weekend. i go to another new mums grop thatmeets in teh loft in ashton lane in glasgow on a friday lunch - the venue is ok - pretty baby friendly. i know that is a hike for the non glasgow mums - so open to suggestions. we had thought of a picnic in a park - still like the al fesco idea??

I'd be happy enough to come through to Glasgow by train so a central place to meet would be fine. Thursdays and fridays are less good but am fairly flexible TBH.

All well here, am really chuffed that BF has gone well sofar as this was the point where I gave up completely with dd - was also on the slippery slope to PND so am very relieved my mood has been OK this time - amazing what a difference having a chilled out baby makes !

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/05/2007 13:36

Am free most days as now on mat leave. Loft good for me. Also park a nice idea, weather permitting. Next week too soon for folks to get organised???

Loulee · 22/05/2007 15:04

Hi,
I'll join depending on day/time. tbh park is probably better for me if i have dd1 and dd2 with me - though the loft is fine too - do find I spend an awful lot of time running round in circles chasing those little cars though!

geordiemacminx · 22/05/2007 15:12

might be able to get into town if i get the whole public transport thing sussed - god i miss being ble to drive!!! Central town best for me, would take hours and military borganisation to get to west end...

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/05/2007 16:31

I can do town too, but don't know of child/baby friendly places. Where do you live GMM - is there someone else close that could pick u up?

On an another matter- am about to pack hosp bag, anyone who recently delivered at QMH got any good tips on what really needed and what was waste of time taking? Not sure what hosp will actually provide -towels, cotton wool etc? Friend said they had central store where you helped self to nappies, wipes, cotton wool etc but was 6 years ago and am sure they have changed since then.

Loulee · 22/05/2007 16:41

child friendly in town would be downstairs in princes sq.
on southside, the tramway's good too. - and you have the garden if the weather's nice.
Hi Tallulah, as far as I remember at qmh all cottonwool supplied, but you take along your own nappies. Towels were supplied too and blankets/sheets - you just go help yourself to all of this. And underneath the wee cot thing there's a couple of bowls for warm water. This was nearly 2 years ago. Am sure it's still the same.

Loulee · 22/05/2007 16:43

wipes?? don't know where I got that from - they don't have them - but you only need water anyway.

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/05/2007 17:18

Thanks Loulee - another maybe dumb question- should I be washing all new baby clothes before LO wears them? Am sure heard this was a good idea in case baby's skin reacted to the material (have bought 100% cotton vests, slepsuits etc). However, I thought the delicate skin was more likely to react against detergent so can't decide what to do.

Loulee · 22/05/2007 18:45

yeah def wash them beforehand. I didn't realise this with dd1 and she was covered in an awful rash for the first week or so. apparently the clothes are treated with some sort of starch before they are sent to the shops. makes them look nicer

geordiemacminx · 22/05/2007 22:11

i washed all mines too - and blankets - was lovely to see his little vests hanging on the washing line... there were a few items that i missed - made his skin all flakey

I seem to recall i ironed them all too.... first and last time

trixymalixy · 22/05/2007 23:05

hello! I would be up for a meet up as well.

Somewhere in the centre of town or south side would probably suit me best as well although would be quite happy coming across to the west end if that's what the general concensus is.

Loulee · 23/05/2007 17:41

when's good for everyone? Can't really do mornings but I can usually do mon, tues or thurs afternoons.

geordiemacminx · 23/05/2007 19:32

Rightyo - lets get this sorted - Tues or Thurs next week (given that mon is bank holiday), general consensious seems to be that town would be easier - princess square or is there somewhere easier for people that are bringing toddlers?

Good news is that I can drive spoke to insurance company today and they said as long as midwife thinks its ok I'm covered - happy days!!!!

Once we have a day decided (think lunch/early afternoon is best to give people time to travel) I will email anjo and bananasarny as they havent been on here for a while and invite them, will also post it on the meet up thread.

PLEASE ANYONE ELSE THAT IS READING THIS THAT LIVES UP HERE FEEL FREE TO COME ALONG - YOU DONT NEED AN INVITE OR TO BE PART OF "THE GANG" - EVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE YOUR BABY YET - YOU SOON WILL, AND ARE MORE THAN WELCOME

weeonion · 23/05/2007 21:46

ok - lets go for a mass invasion of princess square? there is a starbucks downstairs that might be ok? there is the space for littleones to run around? how about we meet there around 2pm? thursday ok?

having said that - it seems to take an age to get out - this little minx has decided to eat every 1.5 / 2 hrs at the mo so we have only a few "windows" of opportunity to get out the door before she demands the boob obeys.

please god - let the Breast feeding get easier ......... .................

trixymalixy · 23/05/2007 21:57

Princes square would suit me fine, but I have booked a cranial osteopath appointment for 2 on thurs afternoon, so Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon would be better for me.

But if the general concensus is Thursday then i can just come along after my appointment.

TALLULAHBELLE · 24/05/2007 03:14

Can do Wed or Thurs but Tues out for me. Where is yr appt Trixy & how long will it take? Is looking like Thurs suits for most but wouldn't want you to miss out.

Anjo1 · 24/05/2007 09:18

morrning ladies, my my haven't we been chatty !
hope everyone is keeping well .
either Tuesday or Thursday is fine for me .
Princes street is lovely . do we know if there's baby changing facilities there ? my knowledge of the square is sketchy .
St Enochs has a play area for toddlers ..?
xx

Anjo1 · 24/05/2007 09:41

'baby changing facilities' - I mean more like mum and baby unit , like the Buchanan Galleries one. ?

geordiemacminx · 24/05/2007 10:15

Baby chang - great - can I change mine for one that doesnt want feding every hour, that doesnt think 5.30am is time to get up, and will le in his moses basket for more tha 10 minutes without screaming the house down???

Sorry - Bad morning

Loulee · 24/05/2007 13:33

think there's babychanging on the top floor along with the toilets at p. square.

geordiemacminx · 24/05/2007 16:30

ok - so its looking like thursday - starbucks at princess square at 2pm then?

weeonion · 24/05/2007 17:42

great... looks like a strat off date and we can then get something else rrnaged for any of us who cant make it. i wish the sun we had in april woudl come back - then we coudl meet al fesco! fingers crossed for june!

gmm - with you today on a baby swop. this wee minx wont settle - just wants fed or held and if i dont hold her in her fav position - then she howls. bit wearing!

had HV out - she has only put on 5 oz this week - which is just about average. i think she look sthin - and i was thinking i woudl have a more chubby roly/poly baby but then she is a long thin baby so any weight gain doesnt seem that obvious.

i got a booklet from teh Hv today on all teh places you can breastfeed / change in greater glasgow - v handy. i havent bf in public yet - these big milky boobs are not discreet and i have to hold her in a stange position to get latched on so the thought of bing able to nip along to a store and do it in private appeals more than wapping out in a cafe. did you all get a copy of it??

any news from vio?? james was due home on monday - i was wondering about her and how they are all getting on??

so - who is due next on this thread - tulla is it you????????????

trixymalixy · 24/05/2007 18:11

My C.O. appointment is in battlefield. I'm not sure how long it will last, but can't imagine it would be longer than 1/2 hour so could be there by 3.

Although they offered me a few time slots so I might try and re-arrange it for earlier or later.

GMM - it does get better, they go longer between feeds and get better at going for naps where they're supposed to. Don't think the getting up early bit ever changes tho I'm afraid!!

WO I got that booklet as well. I've braved feeding in public a few times. having my boobs out doesn't bother me, it's more the logistics of getting DS into a comfy position to feed that i find difficult as i usually have loads of cushions at home!!

liath · 24/05/2007 18:28

Afraid I'll not make it next week, have massed in-laws staying! Have a lovely afternoon, though. Must try and drag my sister along to a meet sometime as she's a MNer too but lives in the back-end of nowhere!
