Ladies, I know there are quite a few of us in this category and I am conscious that although the lovely ladies on here are supporting us on every thread we post on, I am worried that we are spoiling their own pregnancy experience by worrying so I thought I?d set this up for those who really don?t know if things are going one way or the other. Thought it might help us to get through the days/weeks until we do know what?s going on.

For those who don?t know me (though I?m a prolific poster ) here?s me in a nutshell: Based on LMP I?m 9+4 weeks (9+1 based on suspected OV). First pregnancy (though had early termination 10 years ago). TTC for 8 cycles to get here. Got BFP 26/1. Some spotting that week so sent to EPU on 23/1 for early scan. Gestational sac seen by external scan and yolk also seen by internal scan. Measured only 11.4mm though so only 5+5/6 weeks. Was rescheduled for scan 7/3 to see if things had changed. Given 50/50 chance. Started heavy bleeding 1/3. Had emergency scan 2/3. Told sac still there and has grown. Repeat scan scheduled for 9/3. In the meantime, more heavy bleeding, clots, cramps and much anguish.

I just wish I knew what was going on! Please join me.

ale - I've just posted on your other thread, I had a scan on Friday that showed an empty sac and was given an appointment to go back in 2 weeks time. I called them today and said that I really didn't want to wait 2 weeks and they brought the appoinment forward to the Tuesday as they said they could tell if there was any growth after a week

MillyM · 05/03/2007 20:14

That seems unusual to me (the blood tests), mind you they did the blood test on me first so would it be made pointless by the scan? But then if they couldn't see much surely the presence of a high hGc level would indicate all was well.
Sorry, none of that was really helping was it -I'm just whittering, sorry. Fingers crossed and hope all goeswell on the 21st.

ale233 · 05/03/2007 20:19

MrsMcJnr said on the other thread that they wont always test for hcg as it isnt always reliable and can cause more stress. I'm just hoping that it was too early to see anything and there has been some growth when I go back. I might see if they can bring it forward a few days as I'm going to be constantly worrying.

MillyM · 05/03/2007 20:21

Yes, I'd do what whoops said and definitely try to get the scan brought forward. I'm beginning to realise that asking (and sounding suitably and understandably distraught) gets you further than you think in this limbo lark. x

whoopsfallenoveragain · 05/03/2007 20:24

I don't know if it's right but I have still been having all the pregancy symptoms so a blood test may still show rising hcg as I read somewhere that it was the sac that produced the hormones rather than the baby.

ale233 · 05/03/2007 20:27

Whoops - how far do they think you are and did they seem quite positive or not?

MillyM · 05/03/2007 20:27

I didn't know that whoops, but then again,I'm realising I don'tknow a lot. Hopefully the next scan will show growth.
I'm the opposite with pg symptoms, I've had none.

ale233 · 05/03/2007 20:30

My friend had an early scan and they couldnt see anything in the sac but they did the blood tests and then repeated them after 2 days to see how the levels had increased. She said that this was really reassuring as they had gone up quite a bit. This is why I couldnt understand it when they said I would have to wait, I was too upset to argue about it though as I can only assume they know what they are doing ( although it seems the doctor can't recognise a fetal heartbeat over mine )

funnypeculiar · 05/03/2007 20:30

Glad you found this, MillyM - looks like a lovely supportive thread. Hope all goes well tommorrow - will watch this scan for news.

And fingers crossed for everyone else too - hope everything settles down nicely for you all soon, and you get throught this horrible limbo time

xx

whoopsfallenoveragain · 05/03/2007 20:30

I thought I was 9 weeks and pretty sure of my dates. When I phoned the EPU they told me that the sac measured 19.5mm which I think works out to be about 7 weeks. They told me the sac was empty and weren't at all positive which is why I really couldn't cope with waiting the full 2 weeks. I think basically they sent me away to see if my body will deal with it naturally which I really don't want to happen

ale233 · 05/03/2007 20:36

At least you are having pregnancy symptoms which is a really good sign, I hope everything is ok for you. Good luck for tomorrow Milly.

MrsMcJnr · 05/03/2007 21:01

mmk ? tell us more about the zinc?

Sweetbean ? I really hope it?s good news at the EPU, bleeding does not have to mean the end. Keep us posted hon. Sorry you are going through this.

Lottie ? sorry you?ve not been feeling yourself, can I help hon? CAT me if you want a chat. Suspect I know what?s wrong .

Ale233 ? I read your earlier thread. What you are going through must be awful. What a cruel misunderstanding. Rub your belly and tell that beanie to grow, we?ve been doing that and ours grew last week, just hoping she?s still there now . Hang in here with us; there are many of us in a similar position.

J20Baby ? thanks for your lovely post hon, I?m not leaving you on the other post, just felt some of us needed to go into detail about what?s going on with us and didn?t want to worry anyone on the Oct thread for their own sakes. I know it?s a scary time all round and no one needs even more to be worried about. My next scan is Friday now as I had one last Friday ? pray for my beanie to be fine and have grown

Whoops ? my sac had growth after a week but not enough to know whether or not the pregnancy is viable or not so I?m still in the same limbo just with a slightly bigger sac I was certainly told by the MW that it is the sac that produces the hormones rather than the baby so I?ve just been ignoring my pregnancy symptoms, is that weird?

Sleep time is nearly here ladies, my favourite time of day, I can actually dream that everything is fine and it?s such a relief Sweet dreams everyone. Hope it goes really well tomorrow MillyM, I?ll be looking out for you (and thinking of you).

Hi all thanks for the lovely thoughts

Got my scan today and am really worried.Dp tried to talk to me about it thismorning but it just ended up with him saying that i am trying make him feel gulitly, and then saying that he would come so i told him not to bother !!!
I do love him and we have plannned this baby and i wouldn't ever do that unless i thought we where in it for the long haul but, sometimes i feel that he just couldn't give a rats a*" about me !!

MillyM good luck on the scan today i will be keeping everything crossed for you exsept my legs because from what i can gatter its not the same kind of scan you have when your 12 & 20 weeks xx

lissielou · 06/03/2007 07:54

quick hijack to say good luck all keeping everything crossed for you!

sunshinedays · 06/03/2007 08:52

MrsMcJnr about zinc
I'm sure MMK will be along soon - but OK to put my penny worth in too?

In NZ they are all over Zinc for fertility and early pg like a rash. I was with one mother who bled through months of early pg with her 3rd child and a naturpath put her on zinc. She claims it helped... and she went onto that have that babe and a 4th not long after. I toyed with mentioning it earlier but I have been looking into it and am not sure.... and not sure if it is a good idea to start without supervision (there are so many whacky ideas and old wives tales). If you are taking a pg multi vit it is liekly to have RDA of Zinc (.... 15mg I think).
IF you are considering this option PLEASE seek advise, I do not think a trad GP will be open to the idea... is there a natural health clinic you could chat too?

Sx

MrsMcJnr · 06/03/2007 08:59

Thanks Sunshinedays, I?ll look into it.

Good luck to all having scans today, everything crossed.

I?ve just read an awful story about my hospital in the Metro They performed 90 min surgery on a mother to remove what they had diagnosed as a missed miscarriage at 5 ½ weeks. 3 weeks later she had stomach complaints and found out she was still pregnant. She?s just given birth! The mistake apparently happened when she had an early scan because of pains, she was told that the sac had not grown but the sonographer did not realise that the baby had (but how could she at 5 ½ weeks?) & believed the mother had miscarried. No wonder they keep re-scanning and saying nothing to me! Makes me think that a second opinion might be worth getting privately before making any determinative moves.

Morning everyone! spent all night fretting that I have offended, but so far, it seems ok. Our story is much more extreme than most, so we have had to do much more research than most, and have been through much more than most, so forgive me is my info seems a bit weighted!
Zinc- I know that low zinc levels (and that is most of us!)are linked with m/c. The expert on all this is Nim Barnes at Foresight (preconceptual charity).
It works a bit like this, you may be low on zinc, be pg and m/c and not even know, which will deplete your zinc levels even more.

You are right to say it should be taken under supervision though. We had our hair tested by Foresight, they gave us a vitamin plan.

MrsMcJnr · 06/03/2007 10:01

mmk, don't be worried about offending anyone, we find it all very interesting. Sorry you have been through so much though

mmk · 06/03/2007 10:10

thank you MrsMc.

Yes, we have been through a lot, (far too awful to mention here, but we survived it)but nothing in the world matters when my little boy takes my hand, or says 'mummy'.
My whole world stopped turning the day they put him in my arms!
The gift of a beautiful healthy child is one I shall treasure all my life.

When he sits on my knee, or gives me a kiss, time just stands still.

I wouldn't say having a 2 year old is easy, but he is as good as he can be for 2!

Glimmer · 06/03/2007 10:14

Hi Limbo-Ladies. No news here. No more bleeding. Pg-test still positive but continuously faint. I do not plan to go to GP or EPU at this point, since I was there which much worse and got shrugged of each time and never got a scan. My biggest fear is another missed m/c, because of the lost time. I have no pains, so there is no reason not to wait, since this is what they would suggest anyway. Jules darling how are you? MrsMcJnr, let's wait together. I so much hope that things will work out for you.

Glimmer · 06/03/2007 10:16

Sweetbeen -- good luck today!

mmk · 06/03/2007 10:18

oh dear, I lost the plot a bit in my last message. What I wanted to say is this- in the darkest, longest most agonising parts of of our long journey, it never occurred to me that it might all come to a happy ending. I could never, ever imagine the joy that would be eventually ours.

I never thought we would ever receive the gift of a child to love. And suddenly, it was all over... we were a family.

oh dear, she's off again.....maybe she should go and get on with her work...

MrsMcJnr · 06/03/2007 10:37

You brought tears to my eyes mmk, I?m so glad you have that, that is all any of us want, that?s the dream . Keep us strong and hopeful won?t you?

Hey Glimmer. So glad you have no more bleeding! That?s brilliant news! Have you seen your GP at all this pregnancy? Do you know when you?ll have a booking in appointment with the MW? I can understand how you feel if you?ve had a bad experience before but how long will it be hon before someone does check you out? Please don?t let the worry go on too long, you may get peace of mind if you check it out at some point soon.

My bleeding is less and I do feel a bit better but it?s still flowing and it?s still bright red. I?m getting so sick of it. I?m into the 5th day of bleeding now, those who know, tell me, is that bad news in itself?

mmk · 06/03/2007 11:09

Mrs MC and Glimmer
Bleeding without cramps often means nothing at all. My neighbour had it for weeks, her daughter is now 8, my nan bled every month her daughter is now 65.
All sorts of totally unproblematic things can lead to bleeding. Although it was IVF in my case, I bled at least two weeks!
The waiting must be agony for you- my heart is with you.

Everything is crossed for you and a happy outcome.

MillyM · 06/03/2007 11:10

Mrs McJnr, I'm sorry but I have no idea about the bleeding - someone who knows more will be along soon though. Keep strong x
I am so nervous it is unreal,so far no more bleeding and the cramps seem to have subsided a little too. Just wish DH could be with me for this today-he feels rubbish about not being there as well. I'm stressing about the drive to the hospital, the wait whilst there and finally listening to the outcome......help!
