Hello ladies- just popping in to say hi to anyone that might have been on here this time last year and to share my good news story- after two mmcs over the last 3 years (and at the grand old age of 43) I am now proud mum to 4 month old dd2. Despite the nerve-wracking pregnancy, everything went really well and I feel like a very lucky lady! Wanted to just stop by and say good luck to you all- this thread was such a great support for me and kept me going through the dark times Flowers

doleritedinosaur · 17/01/2017 14:54

Thank you backhome & hope you continue to feel so lucky. It's really great to see more after birth stories.

Thanks ineed i had to throw up which was incredibly hard with my bump but am now eating every 20 minutes. Got crackers/savoury bits, I was just not expecting it this morning & has been a fortnight or so since I last had it constantly all day.
There's also a phone app that has 8 glasses of water on it & beeps at you to drink if that helps?
Glad it's being sorted for you.

Aw whatser hope they ramp up again for you soon & lol at your DH.

Glad both ginger & oliversmummy are having better days, hope they continue & not long until scans now.

I got through swimming, DS had so much energy & was like a fish. He did kick me right in the bump though but baby has been moving fine & no bruise, did worry me though. & he's actually napping so resting up.

Hope everyone has a good day. Have to get back to eating.

Gingerbreadmam · 17/01/2017 15:43

Thanks again everyone. Right emotional roller coaster this.

Ahh whats you were quite this morning thought it had all began for you.

Lovely to hear some success stories from the thread. Keep us going.

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 17/01/2017 19:27

Ahh whatser hope things pick up again for you soon. My daughter was 2 weeks over to the day so they definitely have their own schedules. I think she only made a move cos the midwife did a very physical exam of my belly otherwise probably would have stayed there forever.

Sorry that's probably not helpful!

Nice to hear another positive outcomw story backhome so thanks for that Smile

Hope you're feeling less sicky now dolerite.

Today seems like a slightly more positive day all round.

As for me I just need to pee all the sodding time! And still massively bloated, begining to wonder if I might have developed some kind of food intolerance and there are other symptoms shall we say. Or does pregnancy just mess with absolutelh everything?!

MoonlightMojitos · 17/01/2017 19:58

doomsong I think pregnancy just messes up everything haha. What I've decided is it generally makes everything bigger. Belly, boobs, red swollen gums for me, swollen fingers and ankles lol to name a few....

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 17/01/2017 20:13

My arse definitely feels (and looks) bigger moonlight, though that may just be excessive Christmas chocolate consumption.
Still trying to hide pregnancy at work as am only 11 weeks but look about 5 mths (at least!) with all this bloating grrr!

LynseyH · 17/01/2017 20:52

Congratulations backhome. Lovely to hear such a happy ending (or beginning!). Enjoy every precious moment.
dino hope your feeling better than this morning.
whatser I really hope your little lady puts in an appearance for you soon. We're all eagerly awaiting news so can't imagine what the impatience is doing to you right now!

Just having a catch up!

Newshoes - so sorry you're going through such a tough time but glad you're being monitored and getting the help you need.

Dino - arrggh, how annoying the sickness is still there at your stage! Do you have the acupressure bands, they really helped me.

Ginger and Oliver - so daunting and scary at that stage and just hard to know what's going on but hopefully all calmed down now.

Whatser - hope its not long for you now!

Lynsey - good advice on the symptom spotting as everybody you speak to has different experiences

17+3 today and had my first non drinking birthday since I was prob about 14 (when my mom would let me have a sneaky cider!)

Naschkatze · 18/01/2017 16:56

Hi all - update and plea for advice from me.

Went in for monitoring late last night as baby had had a quiet day or two and didn't wake up as usual at bedtime. Spent until 1am in the MAU being monitored; all apparently fine but bump measured small. 31cm at 34+5. They've moved my growth scan forwards but still not until next week - so feeling a bit anxious.

Also, TMI alert, this morning noticed some brown discharge. Not a huge amount... called again and midwife wasn't worried, could be the start of a show apparently! Seems far too early! There wasn't any pain this morning.
This afternoon, I've still got the discharge and a mildly achy back, which I don't think is muscle but more like PMT type symptoms... I know I should ring again but does anyone have any advice first?

I felt more movements this afternoon, so at least it's better on that score.

purpleviolet1 · 18/01/2017 17:08

Phone again as they should offer the steroid injections for baby's lungs if it's possibly early labour, not got anything else to add am afraid. Are you ready with your bag just in case? It could be something or nothing but will be better experience if you can get organised xxx

Am also feeling a different kind of movement now that I'm 29 +5. Not big kicks but more 'rumblings' which are sometimes difficult to notice during the day. Have to keep a better eye...

Gingerbreadmam · 18/01/2017 17:23

I would go back in nasch as people have said before mw would rather see you than not.

I think id be tempted to as well if i were you kate. Nothing to worry about im sure but putting ur mind at rest can only be a good thing.

Sah1987 · 18/01/2017 17:27

Go in, don't wait. I measured small with my first and she really was small.
You've had reduced movements now discharge, & period pains (exactly how contractions felt to me when I was induced) I'd rather go & be wrong Hun. Plus 34 + 1 isn't that early. Is it first or 2nd? Xx

doleritedinosaur · 18/01/2017 17:35

nasch I would phone again to check about brown discharge but I have been losing bits of plug off & on now for a fortnight & it can replenish/fall out for a long time before birth.

But if you feel worried about movements ring up straight away.
& if the pains move to contractions.

Happy birthday for yesterday knorrig & sadly nope, they do nothing with me. I just have to keep nibbling.

Thanks everyone have been eating loads of Rice Krispies which helps. Still throwing up once a day now.

Hope everyone is okay.

DS was up at 6am, not looking forward to this soon!

XxBecxX · 18/01/2017 17:40

I'd request more monitoring also nasche, more than anything tell them something doesn't feel right, you've not been over dramatic previously and now your concerned, you want them to rule out early labour signs rather than you having to wait until you possibly are in labour to prove you where right.
Also it maybe early but not to early, baby should be 5lb by now which is a healthy weight, i had a scare with my first and I don't even think at 34 they would give steroids as i never but they are all questions you want answers to for your peace of mind.
Tell them you think you may have had a show, if the baby has engaged that may be why your feeling reduced movements!
Make sure you keep us updated, we are all invested in you and your lovely baby too and am a bit excited now just in case eeeeeek!!!
Have you joined us on facey yet?
Xxxxx

LynseyH · 18/01/2017 18:28

nasch another one to say the same. Phone again!! Tell them your not convinced everything is ok.
When you went for monitoring last night, did they do swabs? I had to have them done and it gives a result of how likely you are to go in to labour. I had 98% (i think) of NOT going into labour. Don't sit around stressing, get them to help you figure out what's going on x

Naschkatze · 18/01/2017 18:44

Thank you everyone - I phoned again and they were not worried. Just said to keep an eye on baby's movement again. Last night when she had a feel of bump, she said head was down and wrote 4/5 palpable. I think I'm right in saying that means 1/5 'engaged'.
Didn't do any other checks last night other than the monitoring of baby's heart rate.

Discharge seems to have eased off now, likewise with the dull back ache. Maybe I'm doing too much at work... I'm a bit annoyed that the scan wasn't moved earlier as promised - have to wait until Monday.
Might try and call my own midwife tomorrow and see what she thinks too.

I haven't joined on Facebook - I don't use it all that much. I'll have another look for it though!

LynseyH · 18/01/2017 19:12

Its good they seem very calm over it nasch, they are professionals so I guess if they are happy that's a good thing but that won't help with your anxiety. I can't help but be surprised they didn't do the swabs though, seems a likely step to me but I'm no professional!
I think speaking to your own midwife is a good plan, it'll hopefully help if she agrees with them or if she gets more checks done.

I'm trying not to worry as they are not. Don't know anything about swabs - wasn't mentioned at all. All my obs etc were okay last night and baby has been more wriggly today so I'll see how it goes. If things don't feel right tomorrow I'll ask to go back in.
I just wish the scan could have been sooner as I'm desperate for 'proof' that all is okay in there still.

LynseyH · 18/01/2017 20:00

It's a huge positive baby is still wriggling around, so keep that in mind if you feel the anxiety creeping in.
There will be certain red flags to midwives and the fact none of them are popping up with you has to be good.
When I went for monitoring, I was in pain so I guess that's why they checked for early labour with the swabs. That must not be something they are worried about either.
I wish I had something more helpful to say but I don't have the same experience, I'm pretty sure all is perfectly well and this is just something to come test your nerves again...like you needed more :-/

Gingerbreadmam · 18/01/2017 20:01

Oh thats good nasch give you a bit of reassurance.

I have somehow pulled a muscle down the back of my hip sunday night and can barely walk today without ooing and ahhing. Cant get comfortable at all. Driving me mad.

Naschkatze · 19/01/2017 06:15

That sounds painful Ginger. Perhaps a warm bath will help ease it?
If it has trapped a nerve (I get this a lot...) try lying down on the floor with your knees bent, then lift the affected leg and place the ankle on top of the other bent knee. Pull the unaffected leg gently towards you. I always find this opens up the hip joint and I get some relief!

Gingerbreadmam · 19/01/2017 07:48

Thanks nasch fortunately it has eased a little today. Still painful but not affecting my movement thankfully.

Been thinking about you this morning oliver and wondering how your expirementing went?

oliversmummy26 · 19/01/2017 10:48

ginger experiment went very well Blush we dtd on Wednesday night and by Thursday late afternoon (like clockwork) I got a tiny bit of brown gunky discharge through when I wiped (sorry!) so I really think it is just down to dtd and as it's brown every time and only after we've dtd I'm not worried. Will mention to mw at booking in next Wednesday though - can't come soon enough, it feels like time is going along at a snail's pace! It's not even been 2 weeks since my bfp! Only 7+2 today...

How're you doing ginger? Any more bleeding?

Has anyone heard from Whatser seems to have gone quiet recently, does this mean baby on the way??

Whatsername17 · 19/01/2017 10:51

Still here and off out for the day in a few minutes!

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 19/01/2017 11:17

I was just thinking about you too whatser.
Hopefully an active day will get things moving for you.

This is why I think they should give you a time frame rather than due date...so much pressure and expectation when it's close/has gone.
