Friday isn't that far. I know how you feel as I had a "moment" yesterday when I was convinced that I was going to have another m/c when I had stomach pains. But I kind of talked myself out of it although I'm still a bit nervous about the possibility that it might all go wrong on Thursday. Can't think of anything to suggest, but sending lots of positive vibes your way......

Only just read this Rubles so sending positive vibes and good luck for Friday. Hope you actually manage to get the scan sooner though.

PurpleLostPrincess · 19/02/2007 17:51

Bless you rubles!!

I had exactly the same panic this time last week - darkish discharge. I completely freaked out and got my GP to refer me to EPAU and also told them I had been getting pains (I had been but very mild). My main worry was that I had the exact same type of discharge with my last m/c so I was convinced that I had m/c'd again.

We managed to get a scan on the same day (we turned up late morning and the nurse remembered me from last time) and saw a heartbeat so there is hope for you my dear. I know it is really hard but hold on in there, you can make it. I do hope you get a positive outcome xxx

Congrats on the Nuchal today Pinkranger. You must be thrilled.

MrsFish · 19/02/2007 19:04

Mumpbump - I have my scan already booked for three weeks time when I will be 11 weeks, I am not going to push for an earlier one

fettle · 19/02/2007 20:59

Hi girls - sorry I've not been around much - feeling quite lacking in energy and under the weather, which i'm hoping is just pg hormones!!

Sorry I missed T4T going off - those last 2 weeks have gone quickly! Can't wait to hear the news!

Rubles, part of the reason I was coming on here was to check you were doing ok with Friday coming up and then I see your post. I'm sorry you are having some doubts - I think it is going to be like this for a while for us all. Everytime I go to the loo, I almost dread looking at my knickers. I've had pretty dark CM from time to time over the last few weeks, even before my very light spotting before my scan a couple of weeks ago - so hopefully yours is nothing too. But I know how scary that must be. My 1st mc at 9 weeks was only signalled by a tiny amount of dark blood - nothing more. As others have said it is not long until Friday - but I'm not sure I'd be able to wait that long. We'll be here for you. Take care. x

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

MrsFish, you're due the day before me! Let's hope we both make it there together. My booking in appointment is booked for 6th March - bit scared as althogh later than my 1st mc, it was the day after my booking in that I mc, so have a bit of worry about it -which I know is silly. Scan isn't until 23rd March, so i'll be nearly 13 weeks by that point - ages!!

Hillybilly - welcome. My GP also wasn't very concerned about sending me for an early scan, even though I'd had 2 mc - she said she would mention it in my referral, but when the appointment came through, it was for nearly 13 weeks!! I did have a scan at about 6.5 weeks as I'd had some spotting - have to say as soon as I said that they quickly offered me a scan because of my history, so I suppose that it something. At the moment, I'm just taking comfort in my nausea and large boobs! As it is not that long to wait now [she says, trying to convince herself!]. Anyway, good luck persuading your hospital to see you sooner!

BTW, everyone, what is a nuchal scan for? Why do you have one? Should I have one? Bit ignorant about all this - considering I've already had a DD!!

Appear to have gone on a bit long! Best get back to giving DH some attention!!

take care all
x

time4tea · 19/02/2007 21:46

Hello there
This is time4tea's 'DH' logging in to let you know that we have a new baby boy, born at 1.30pm today
t4t is doing fine. Our little son had a bit of trouble with his breathing but seems to be OK now. Quite a long day though.
Thanks for all the support you've given t4t during her pregnancy - both of us really appreciate it.

FurryFox · 19/02/2007 22:19

Have nothing to do with this thread but just saw the last post and wanted to say congratulations on the arrival of your son time4tea's DH. Hope mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations again

OonaghBhuna · 19/02/2007 22:30

I havent been on this thread for ages as dd2 was born in dec. But I would like to say congratulations to TFT that is fantastic news, I hope you and your son are both doing well.

Hillbilly · 20/02/2007 07:56

A huge congrats T4T!!! Well done!

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 09:28

Morning all!!!

Many congratulations to T4T and Mr. T4T. Do you have a name yet??

Fettle - the nuchal scan measures the thickness of the nuchal fold on the back of the baby's neck and then, taking into account other factors such as the mother's age, works out the likelihood that the baby has Downs Syndrome. If you are considered to be a high risk, they will then offer you a diagnostic test, such as amniocentesis, which can confirm DS one way or t'other. Of course, even if it calculates the baby to be at low risk of having DS, there are no guarantees... The nuchal scan has to be done at around 12-13 weeks. HTH.

Feeling alright today. Dh reckons my waist looks a bit thicker and then when I put one of my suits on this morning, it was definitely very snug - is snug normally, but not to this extent! So, all reassuring stuff...

rubles · 20/02/2007 10:23

Congratulations t4t!!
I was thinking of you last night with your new baby and your new family of 4.

I hope you recover well. I look forward to hearing all about him and how you are feeling about it all when you are able to come on for a brief nanosecond. What's the name, btw??

rubles · 20/02/2007 10:32

I am much better today Fettle. I felt awful yesterday and went to bed as soon as I got home from work (luckily it was one of the very rare occasions when dp was around in the evening so he dealt with dd). I am nervous but there has been no more spotting since yesterday early afternoon, so I am keeping everything crossed that it was nothing. I have stooped to new depths and am now closely inspecting the toilet paper every time I wipe but feel more positive than I did yesterday and I am now glad that I didn't manage to get an earlier scan today because if I had it would only make me feel better for about 48 hours and then come Friday I'd probably be worrying again.

Fettle, when you had your 9 week m/c, after the very light spotting when did you know the baby had died? With me, it all just happened all of a sudden and was complete within 48 hours - missed miscarriages seem to me to be the worst possible scenario.

I remember that when I had my booking app with DD they listened for hb which was very strong and a real joy to hear. I guess I will just ask them this time if they can check.

Hillbilly · 20/02/2007 10:49

Stay positive Rubles

fettle · 20/02/2007 12:11

Hi Rubles

I just had some brown spotting in my knickers when I went to the loo on the Thursday. Rang MW and the earliest the EPU could see me was Monday morning. Had no more spotting at all. Just in the scan there was no heartbeat. Sonographer was amazed as my little bean looked perfect and totally right size for its dates, but there was just no heartbeat. Made me have a glimmer of hope that it was all ok, but when I went back for a second scan a week later as per protocol, the baby had begun to shrink away, so it was definitely all over.

Please don?t worry about yours, because of my past experiences ? what I?m gathering is that everyone is completely different and what is the end of the pg for some, has no bearing on someone else with the same symptoms, IYKWIM. Besides 3 things happened on that same Thursday that I think contributed to my mc (makes me feel better even if there is no actual link!): DD and I had had a really bad flu-like cold, with very high temp for 2 days, DD kicked me very hard in my lower abdomen (not on purpose, I add!) and finally we had our heating and hot water system condemned as it had been leaking low levels of carbon monoxide for goodness knows how long. For some bright spark reason the landlord had put the CO detector in the sitting-room, not in the kitchen where the boiler was, so we had no idea ? thank goodness the engineer who had come to investigate a different problem wouldn?t leave until he?d checked for CO levels ? thank goodness he did. Don?t think it would have done any of us any good over the very long term ? particularly DD as we used to live in the kitchen in that house. Moved now to yet another run-down army quarter, but moving to our own house in August ? can?t wait!!!!

Anyway, what I?m trying to say is, I?m sure you will be fine ? a very small amount of spotting probably means absolutely nothing. But I'm with you on the toilet tissue inspection, been doing that since I found out I was pg!!

Take care and thank goodness your DP sounds lovely ? not sure if I?ve told this thread, but my DH has re-named me ?Blanket? as I just sit under a blanket on the sofa most evenings! But he is really looking after me!

Must get on with some work ? big hugs to all.
x

I am in shock. 9 + 1 weeks and my clothes are officially too tight. I might have to go for those maternity clothes tomorrow .

Have tried to put it off but have been getting uncomfortable pains in my stomach (front waist line, well what once was it has gone) about this time in the afternoon untill I go home and get changed (I can't tell you the relief) Can't imagine sitting down alot of the day helps, but I just seem to expand the minute I get changed.

Has anyone else found this in previous pregnancies. Is 9 weeks too early? I feel like I am still blowing up like a balloon. What am I going to be like later on?? Still not putting any weight on so where is it all coming from?

Getting abit freaked out, having another unstable hormonal day.

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 15:23

Well, I'm still in my normal clothes, but they are a bit baggy on me usually anyway so there is plenty of growing room yet!!
