Hi all
Hope your mums are feeling ok hotchoc and furrymummy - you're both being so immensely brave and positive it's v. humbling.
Hotchoc I've been saying exactly that to friends - I fee as though I've got a hangover the whole time. Sometimes it's the kicking headache kind and sometimes yes that feeling of 'what can I eat that wil save me?' as well as temperature being all over the place. Has anyone else got this? I've sat with goosebumps when it's absolutely boiling and yet other times you could fry an egg on my chest (always supposing you could get it to stay on my ginormous boobs).
As you say, hopefully good signs. Haven't got my booking scan date yet - apparently they don't do it till 13 weeks here, which is another three weeks to go.

i got very very hot in the first trimester....especially at night. Poor DH said it was like sleeping wit a wriggly hot water bottle. now it's just my poor feet that are really hot all the time, but thankfully no swolen ankles.

Managed to get a decent nights sleep courtesy of the co-codamol given to me by the hospital yesterday...all been quiet on the contractions front today, but I have been very good and not overdone things...although I did sweep the kitchen floor...the tree root will just have to wait I'm afraid, but I'm going to get some blinkers so I don';t have to look at the clutter and dust and ironing that's everywhere in my house at the mo.

Off to Mothercare this weekend to get pram and crib sheets, steriliser, bottles, mattress for crib etc, so if bubba does decide to put in an early appearance she'll at least have somewhere to sleep. Nearly finished knitting the most gorgeous blanket....baby cashmere which is soft and lovely...but handwash only (what was I thinking)

Hotchoc...fingers crossed for your mums results...this waiting time can be a bit tense. xx

Evening all,

Well, my first week back at work has gone much better than expected, though I'm very tired tonight, and had to excuse myself several times from classes to go and throw up today ... [bleugh emoticon!]

firststar - choir practice was great - it was our first one since the TV series ended - and 55 people turned up for the practice. We'll be singing at the game against Leinster (last game of the season), so have got a goal to aim for! The Club are being really supportive of us, and are giving us a room to practice in for free, on the understanding that we do what they call 'community engagements' - accompanying the players and singing when they go and visit local hospitals and stuff (twist my arm!)

hotchoc and mummbump - I'm remembering you and your mums in my prayers - you have my greatest admiration for the way in which you're dealing with a very difficult situation.

daisybump - take it easy!

Does your washing machine have a 'handwash' / 'woollen' (sp???) programme on it? If it does, then you can wash your blanket in the machine ... the manufacturers always err on the side of caution, as they are very aware of the prospects of litigation!
What mix is the yarn you're using?

Right, am going to cuddle up with dh on the sofa - have hardly seen him this week!

Furrymummy · 27/04/2007 20:29

OMG. Was watching Helen Mirren in Elizabeth 1, always thought I had a fairly strong stomach wrt horro, but they had this horribly gruesome torture stream and it made me sick and had to rush to the loo to puke! Deffo pregnancy hormones...
Asked DH to turn it off and we're watching Spinal Tap instead! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, especially Daisybump - leave that treeroot alone or get your DH to do it, you can supervise!

becklespeckle · 28/04/2007 09:39

Hi all! Phew, I am struggling to keep up with you lot! I promise I will get to know you all and be a bit more freindly! Hotchoc and Mumpbump - hope your Mums are okay, sending lots of positive thoughts their way (and yours too).
Well my hair is falling out in handfulls at the moment, I'm sure it's not supposed to fall out while pg. It fell out when I was pg last year too after my Mum died (although now I know baby had died too by that stage). So obviously I am panicking now a bit - although am sure I read somewhere that hair falls out a few weeks after a shock or hard time? Anyone heard of that? Only 5 weeks pg so could have happened before I fell. OTOH am sooo tired and my boobs are very big, hard and tingly and I am off to the loo many many times a day so they are all good signs. Arghhhhh! Will feel so much more relaxed in 8-9 weeks time (then I can start to worry about the birth...)!
Off for a meal out with friends to celebrate birthday (earlier in the week) - not sure how am going to cover not drinking yet though. Might pretend lemonade has vodka in it and only let DH and friends who are 'in' on the pg buy me them?

Woooozle100 · 28/04/2007 10:24

Morning all!

Best wishes to Mumpbump and Hotchoc. I'm sorry that your moms are so poorly. Wishing them and you both all the best.

Mumpbump - this is the lattitude festival here

All fine with me. Been to work last couple of days (sat on my arse. Didn't do much )Still not lifting dd which is a bit tricky but hey ho better that than more scary bleeds.

Ph our family is growing in more ways - we now have a couple of bunnies. Alas we don't really have a garden anymore cos dh has made it into an enclosed rabbit run. Nevermind! (And at least I don't have to clean em out - told dh its a definite no go in pg cos of toxoplasmosis)

Daisybump - yr blanket sounds lovely. You'll just have to give it to someone else to wash once baby is here and using it

ejt - glad work is going better.

Furrymummy - I love Spinal Tap. They were on about it on the radio yest and played the stonehenge bit. Pffffff!

Daisybump · 28/04/2007 11:56

Morning Ladies...its a beautiful day here...the sun is shining and I've had breakfast on the patio and managed about 10 hours sleep (on an off that is) last night so feeling fit for anything today...well a trip to Mothercare to ensure that if this LO does come early then she'll at least have somewhere to sleep. Can't believe that at this stage with DS I had bought absolutely everything and the pram was waiting in the hall with the crib made up beside my bed. Obviously still some subconscious part of me sceptical about this whole PG

ejt...are you a knitting guru then? Just checked the label....its 75% fine merino, 20% silk and 5% cashmere. It says cool handwash, no washing machine and no ironing.
DS was usung a spare bit in one of his games and it got washed at 40 degrees...and came out looking an old bit of knotty nylon so don;t know if that bodes well for machine washing. I might try washing my tension swaure on the wool setting and see what happens.

Daisybump · 28/04/2007 11:56

Oh...and have good weekend everyone.

Woooozle100 · 28/04/2007 19:35

Hope you got all yr baby stuff Daisybump

Gosh no - am no knitting guru. I love knitted stuff and my mom loves knitting so have a fair bit of the stuff. Am clueless with the washing though. I tend to leave it for yonks building up for a handwash. I'm ashamed to admit but my mom has also done this for me!

My dd had a lovely cashmere jumper from Monsoon. That was waiting in the bottom of her basket for a handwash since feb(!) - well until dh did washing t'other week and stuck it in with her bibs and babygrows on long hot cotton cycle. Arrrgghhh. Guess it would now fit Tiny Tears!

Daisybump · 28/04/2007 22:13

Got most of what I wanted...apart from white bloody crib sheets or a crib mattress in mothercare. You'd think they would have such staples always in stock ?? Mattress being delivered on Thursday

So, I could have the baby tomorrow safe in the knowledge that by the time she got home, i'd have enough stuff to get by with. Now just need to get it all sorted and washed...did some wee babygros the other day and was actually crying as I hung them out on the line and had to keep looking out of the kitchen window at them

think my machine does a cold cycle....but i'll do some test squares first at different temps and see what happens..

becklespeckle · 29/04/2007 12:25

Hiya all, hope you having a good weekend. Glad you got most of what you were after Daisybump - hopefully baby will hold on until Thursday!
Well I had a lovely evening last night only to come home and find that not only had my thrush returned with a vengance but also that I had been bleeding . Not loads but was red mixed in with the watery yellowy CM I have been getting. Am not really sure what to do now. Am sure midwives will not think it is an emergency but the emergency number is the only one I have. I remember from last time how unhelpful everyone (midwives, docs on call, EPU) were when I was bleeding. I am hoping and hoping it is not bad news, I did bleed with all my other pgs (sucessful or not) but I don't have a good feeling. Also both m/c were missed ones so am unlikely to m/c naturally if it is all over. Any advice? Should I call the midwives?

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 12:51

Becklespeckle for you hun...CALL THEM. I'm sure they will understand. how far on are you?

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 12:53

Feeling a bit humble now ...I'm getting all excited about the baby now, and forgetting what a tense time some of you are still having. Sorry, if I've been insensitive again. xx

becklespeckle · 29/04/2007 13:26

Daisybump - I think I am 5+2 although from LMP I am 6 weeks. I think I will call, I may call and leave a message for my consultant too in the hopes they will hurry up my early scan. No more blood today apart from a little leftover first thing (touch wood). You have not been insensitive either - you must be very excited! I think it was about your stage that I really started to believe it would happen with my DSs. Besides, you have been through this bit already and gotten through it - I find that really reassuring.

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 13:40

At six weeks if they give you a scan they may be able to see a heartbeat....so...

Try to stay positive, especially if this sort of thing has happened before. My SIL is pregnant with twins and has had a bleed roughly every month, but she's now at 20 weeks and all is well with the babies, so try to keep heart...It is such a worrying time though, I remember being a nervous wreck....and its so difficult to talk about with the people in your RL.

Do you have an early pregnancy assessment unit attached to your maternity hospital? We have one here so I was able to self-refer for a scan because of the two previous MC.

Keeping it all crossed for you and sending lots of sticky vibes your way (((((((((hugs))))))))))

becklespeckle · 29/04/2007 14:04

Thanks for the much needed hug Daisybump , trying not to worry too much but have also not really let myself get too excited about this one IYKWIM. I do have an EPU but they were pretty useless last time TBH (although very nice ladies) and my hospital really don't like giving scans! I am due to have an early scan anyway because of 2 previous missed m/c so am hoping to hurry that along. I have now just spoken to the midwife (lovely lady who remembered me from last year!) and she says the bleed may be because my cervix is irritated by the thrush and told me to go to the docs tomorrow to have a swab done. Also she said anymore bleeding or any pain to call her and she would get me in at EPU so that is reassuring.

Daisybump · 29/04/2007 14:08

Glad you called them hun....hopefully you can relax a bit now....keep us posted....Dxx

Glimmer · 30/04/2007 10:02

Hi Beckle,

So sorry to hear about your bleed. I know how terryifing it is. I was bleeding from week 4 through week 7 and the scans at 6 and 8 weeks looked good. So, while it is understandable that you are worried thing might just be fine.
I am glad to hear the widwife took you serious and was nice. Cross-fingers -- you will feel better after the scan. I think the not-knowing what's going on is really the hardest part.

Daisybump -- glad you had a good day. We are all very happy for you and as Beckle said it is so good to know that a pregnancy after mc can really work out!

Hi to verybody else.

Morning all! Thank you all for your messages. Have been feeling a bit heavy round the hips and a little crampy since yesterday afternoon - am hoping it is because I am stressing. Midwife said if I got any pain to call her - don't know if cramps and heavy feeling count? Left message with consultant about when my scan will be and have got a docs appt later on re: thrush. No more bleeding though (touch wood). Firststar - glad I am not the only one losing hair! Its coming out in handfulls when I wash it or brush it!

Daisybump · 30/04/2007 11:16

Mention it to the doc when you see him later becklespeckle..could it be related to the thrush?

rubles · 30/04/2007 11:35

Hello everyone, I haven't been on here for ages. There's just too much going on at the moment for me in RL that I have no time at all on MN, so I only do quickie posts when I do come on.

Daisybump, have I missed something I thought you were on bed rest? How come you have done all that shopping? I wonder if after all this you go and go overdue...that would be ironic.

Becklespeckle - you have my heartfelt sympathies for the spotting. I have spotted with all three of my pregnancies and it is a nightmare living in a state of constant panic for those first long weeks. The EPU nurse said they couldn't see the reason for it but it might be to do with the cervix. I think it is just something that some of us do (unfortunately).

Hello to everyone else.

I am expecting my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks. I can't believe how time has been distorted - in the first trimester it just dragged and dragged and then suddenly it hit fast forward from 12 weeks to now. If it carries on like this I am worried that I am going to wake up one morning and say 'sh*t I'm due tomorrow' and be woefully unprepared.

Mumpbump · 30/04/2007 11:46

Morning all!

Had a good weekend - went back to bed for a bit yesterday so got some extra kip in before dh went off to football and I took ds out for a walk and to the park. Feeling very virtuous and good-mother like!

Daisybump - I am glad to hear that you have everything ready although it's surprising how little you can get by with! We only had 3 sleepsuits, one blanket and one sheet for ds when he was born! Dh was sent out to buy stuff from Mothercare after he arrived...

Beckle - sorry to hear about the bleeding. Do push your EPU for a scan if it reappears and you have any pain. If you've had two m/c already, they should be more sympathetic. Fingers crossed for you!

Glimmer - when is your scan this week? Fingers crossed also for you!

Hi to everyone else! Sorry to be brief, but I have lots of work to catch up on after being a bit distracted over the last couple of weeks! My mum still seems to be fine, fortunately...
