Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Thanks ladies! I'm so thrilled!

Interestingly the NHS combined nuchal test gave a Downs prediction of 1:2,500 but the DNA Reflex test which I paid for (not Harmony but equivalent) is more accurate and said 1:50,000. Quite a difference!

Last bit of packing and then an early night. I've got to be at the hospital at 7.45am!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2017 21:34

Big difference !!!!

Hope all goes well tomorrow with stitch. Are you knocked out or a local?

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 03/02/2017 03:34

Lovely news on having a little girl Blue!! And good luck this morning, will be thinking of you. I hope you manage to rest afterwards.

Friends I'm glad everything is still going well, and it must be such a relief with every passing day/week. Will you have a lot of extra monitoring for the rest of your pregnancy?

I'm sorry to read about your husband Kate - that must have been very scary, but great that he's on the mend. I hope you're able to relax now you're on your maternity leave.

Great news that your scan went well Trixie!

How are you getting on Grumple? Still living the student life?

I'll be 36 later this month Blondes so just a little bit younger. Interestingly, here full term is 41 weeks but I'm sticking to my 40 weeks date :)

Happy Friday to everyone, and good luck again today Blue!

Blueroses99 · 03/02/2017 12:45

Thanks for the well wishes. Little miss blue is safely sewn in! I had a spinal and I'm waiting for the feeling to return to my legs before I can think about leaving. Got really nervy this morning about the effect of anaesthetic on the baby, everyone says it's fine but I'd really like some actual reassurance before I just sit and worry til my next appointment. I'm right next door to the maternity unit so hopeful that something can be arranged... 😊
PS we've completed!

friends123 · 03/02/2017 13:27

Really glad all went well Blueroses, I bet it feels such a relief. Congratulations on the baby girl news. How wonderful.
Genghis, I would definitely go with the 40 week rule. 😂Will they make you go to 41 weeks then?
Yeah I'm currently there once at week for a swab and blood test. I think I will be probably be induced between 34-37 weeks but that's just from what I've read.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2017 17:49

Blue glad went well and yah for the house

Gengis. You are young then 😂

Friends why 34w. That seems v early

All good here with bubs. Having some major kicks and head butts plus possible h bracs as some are wow short sharp and stomach goes hard

kiwiblue · 04/02/2017 08:58

Congratulations blueroses on your little girl Smile and glad stitch is done. And congrats on the house!!

Re your comment about being thirsty, I've also been really thirsty the whole pregnancy but have never had high glucose levels and recently had GCT at 28 weeks and all normal.

Exciting news from everyone! Sammy not long to go now, glad to hear the twins have grown well.

Kate that sounds stressful, hope your DP is doing better now.

Trixie glad 12 week scan went well, it's such a good feeling isn't it!

MPP how are you doing?

Blondes wow braxton Hicks! Glad all well.

AFM I'm now 30 weeks! Only 6 weeks to go at work. We still haven't bought anything at all, although we've chosen pram and I've started to decide what other things to get.

Hope everyone's doing well!

Sara237 · 04/02/2017 11:13

blueroses hooray for the girl, the stitch and the house! Take it easy.
blondes sounds like bubs might be a ninja! Might come out with a somersault!
kiwi love how chilled you are about getting stuff! I've had mil asking can she buy stuff and I'm only 12 weeks! I want to scream leave us alone to incubate bit longer!
Have nice weekend ladies. ☺

user1486212436 · 04/02/2017 13:37

Loving this thread as it's so me!! Scan anxious to the max at the moment. Got 12 wk scan next week. Last sac was at 6 wks when they released me from fertility clinic so no reassurance scans since. BBP after 2nd round of ivf but got OHSS and was hospitalised at wk3. I've had no pregnancy symptoms for past 4 weeks- yup, no sickness, no tiredness, no bump whatsoever, no vomiting just tad sore breaths and that's it! After such a long slog and being so ill with OHSS I'm so anxious for a heartbeat at the scan next week!!! Driving my family and close friends mad but they just don't get it!! Taking comfort in reading this brill thread. ❤

Sara237 · 04/02/2017 17:44

user1486... We are at similar stages; I have my 12 WK scan on Monday. I had scan at 10wks with harmony test and found out gender. It was such a relief to see him. Like you I'm anxious - been ill last two weeks with chest infection and masses of sickness. Worried about effect on things. Just such a worrying time- you really will appreciate seeing that heart beat and so diff to viability scan. Can you believe its 12 weeks already? Still seems surreal to me! Let me know how it goes.

user1486212436 · 04/02/2017 18:01

Thanks sara237! I've been looking at harmony scans and wished I'd got one but will just wait until scan on Tuesday now. Just 2ish more days so I know there isn't anything I can do- what will be will be! So glad your scan went well and wow that's early for gender. Congratulations on your wee boy. Thanks for the words of comfort ❤

Smurfy1981 · 05/02/2017 08:37

Hi ladies, just checking in- love reading rveryones news- congrates blueroses on a wee girl
cookies i had 12wk, 16wk, 20wk, 28wk and 34 wk scans on nhs as i am consultant led due to ivf pregnancy and slightly high bmi x
Afm- i am now 1 day overdue!!! And ever impatient to meet our wee boy lol!!! Booked in for induction on 15th if we dont go before!!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 05/02/2017 09:02

Aargh, Smurfy I'm now panicking a bit - I'm not consultant-led due to IVF, is this standard? I thought that once IVF has worked then the pregnancy should be the same as anyone else's (unless the reason for IT was fibroids or endo)? Once I was discharged from the fertility clinic I was told I'd just need the standard appointments, should I call the clinic?

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2017 09:22

Kiwi. You seem v chilled about baby stuff. You are 2w behind me

I'm starting to fret that bubs bedroom isn't finished. Had to wait ages for room to have new plug socket which meant we couldn't Carpet or build furniture

Tho plugs and carpet down so df is spending weekend building wardrobe drawers and cot

I can then off load everything in spare room to bubs room and start nesting

Saying that I started last week. Had the urge to bleach windowsills. Which is so not me 😂😂😂😂

SARA. 12w I agree is too early. We didn't do anything till past 20w apart from buggy at think 18w as such a good deal

Tell mil to wait a few months

User. Impressed no scans. I also did a 10w reassurance scan

Smurfy. I'm older then you and they've always said I wouldn't go 40/40 and would induce me - but also ivf and consultant led

I like the extra scans and chats. Reassures me. Get seen every 3w

Gawd knows how the average preg woman does 12&20

Tho guess they don't have the panic and fear that we do with infertility and even now at 32w and being kicked I sometimes think not real

Hedgehog. It varies in area /trust and if you have any other indicators / generally one even two on own aren't a problem but if 3 then consultant led

Factors are

Age. Over 37 and esp if over 40 for first preg / then that's a double flag

Ivf

Bmi high

Dvt

Cone biopsy years ago so less cervix so needed ref checks to measure cervix. Under 22m they stitch

Diabeties in family

Mental /depression

Prob a few more. I tick the first few. I am a tad cuddly 😉 but they don't mention my bmi. Think they worry enough that I'm 43 first time mum ivf dvt and narrow short scarred cervix

Some hate being consultant led. I love it as said I get scanned 3w and then see big cheese doc

Only thing is diff is that I can't have a home or water birth. Wanted neither 😛😛

Blueroses99 · 05/02/2017 09:28

Friends good to hear that you are still being monitored and everything is ok.

Blondes another one who thinks bubs might be a ninja!

Kiwi glad you're doing well, wow 30 weeks already, and super chilled. The only thing I've bought is a Peter Rabbit box set. I'm planning to read to bump!

Welcome User and good luck for Tuesday.

Sara good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Smurfy hope baby Smurfy doesn't keep you waiting too long!

Hedgehog it depends on the area but usually IVF pregnancies are no more risky than others. Where people are consultant-led there are additional factors. In my first pregnancy it was previous uterine surgery, high BMI and MH concerns so nothing to do with IVF! This pregnancy is consultant led for obvious reasons. If the midwife has any concerns, you can be referred to a consultant still so please don't worry at this stage.

lucieloos · 05/02/2017 10:46

Hedgehog, you don't have to be consultant led just because of of ivf, I had an appt with the consultant for an assessment and they said we are going to make you consultant led just because you've had ivf you're likely to be more anxious and you will get a few extra scans to put your mind at rest. I said I would rather stick with midwife led if possible. It makes a big difference for delivery in our area as the midwife led unit is so much more relaxed, everyone gets their own room with double bed, husbands can stay as well afterwards if you're staying in whereas consultant led it's one big ward with lots of ladies and crying babies and have heard some horror stories. Also unless there's something wrong I don't really want the extra scans. They don't particularly relax me, beforehand I always feel nervous and I would rather just carry on as a normal low risk pregnant lady unless there is a need to think otherwise. They were more than happy with this and said there is no medical reason for me to be consultant led and it's entirely my choice. They said obviously if the midwife thinks I need to switch over because of a complication later I can easily switch back so I'm happy with that. So please don't worry you are just a normal pregnant woman now Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2017 10:55

Tho depends on hospital. Ours is all single private rooms with own bathroom and yes partners can stay

Custardandcream · 05/02/2017 11:29

Blueroses glad the stitch went well, hope your getting lots of rest and congratulations on completing!

Kiwi me and DH have already agreed (and told our families) not to buy anything until 30 weeks as well, although I'm hoping to have done a lot of research and decided on the bigger things by then.

User congratulations and good luck for the scan on Tues

Sara good luck for tomorrow

Smurfy you must be getting impatient now! Good luck

I'm now a bit confused at no point when they said they'd like to do the extra scans did they say anything about being consultant led, I've just checked my notes and there is no mention of it in there either. I have no other risk factors I'm early 30s, bmi is 22, urine and blood tests have been fine. I'll ask my midwife about it next Mon at my 16 week check, my area is the same as Lucie's and I'll need to go to the big hospital rather than the midwife led unit if I'm under a consultant. I've no issue going to the hospital if there is an issue but you can get outside at the midwife led unit which sounds like a good idea for August!

lucieloos · 05/02/2017 12:27

Yes obviously depends on hospital. I was just demonstrating why in my area it's one of the reasons I would rather be midwife led.

friends123 · 05/02/2017 15:39

Blondes, I'm not 100% sure if I will be induced that early. There's no plan of action so far, but according to Dr Google, people with PPROM are general induced from 34 weeks because of the risk of infection. I'm measuring 6 days ahead according to private scans so that might well make them decide a bit earlier. When is your next scan blondes?

Hedgehog. I wouldn't worry about being under the consultant. If there's any concerns they will switch you, me just having sugar in my urine would of been enough of a reason to be handed over.

I do like the extra reassurance because I see them more often but I would much prefer to be just midwife led. It's my midwife who's arranged another scan for me, been more open to hear my concerns and generally just been that bit more supportive. There's always 24 hour triage of you have any concerns x

Good luck with all the upcoming scans.

Hopefully baby Smithy will get a move on ;)

friends123 · 05/02/2017 15:43

P.S. is everybody else just constantly hungry. Grin

Smurfy1981 · 05/02/2017 16:58

Aw hedgehog sorry i didnt mean to panic u xx i think mine is more because i had a high bmi- after my 34 ek scan he told me he didnt want to see me again and just continue with midwife xxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2017 20:30

Oic friends - precaution then. How did they know and where does the fluid go?

Next scan 2w tom

And see mw Tom for 32 check

MPP81 · 05/02/2017 20:38

Hello all!

Managed to fall behind again but I've just had a quick catch up!

Sara How are you doing? Did you make the magical transition to radiant goddess at 12 weeks??? Wink Congrats on your little boy!!

Blueroses Glad the harmony test came back great for you, and congrats on your little girl, and on completing, and on getting the stitch!! It must be such a relief for you. Try and get some rest!!

Ghengis Sorry to hear the morning sickness has returned! How are you doing now? Ihope you're feeling better.

Hedgehog I cant really help with your exercise question I'm afraid. I still swim, but apart from that I dont really do anything else. I'd go with whatever your midwife suggests personally. Glad your scan went well and hope you are enjoying telling people! Had your colleagues guessed? As for being consultant led due to IVF - I am consultant led due to IVF, slightly high bmi and previous c section, but I was told that, if it werent for my bmi and previous c section, I would be consultant led til 34-36 weeks and then released to midwife before birth if everything looked fine. I think its yet another example of each area doing things differently, as I've also heard that unless there was a specific reason such as fibroids/endo, once you have that bfp its the same as any other pregnancy.

Blondes Lovely to hear baby is growing well and hoping for a turn in the right direction!

Custard Glad to hear your morning sickness is better. Interesting to hear you're getting growth scans due to having an IVF pregnancy. Every area seems to do things differently. It will be nice for you to see baby an extra couple of times though!

Lucie Glad all is good with you, and that your 24 week appointment went well! Is it me, or does time seem to be flying by?!!

Trixie I'm sorry to hear you've had a bit of an anxious time. I don't know anything about NK cells I'm afraid, but it seems like you've been given alot of good advice, and I hope you are feeling better. As for the flu jab, I had it but that was before Christmas. I'm not sure if/when in the season they stop recommending it. Hope you are ok and so glad your scan went well!

Sammy Gosh, its getting close now!! Just a few more days! I cant imagine how you must be feeling. I'll be thinking of you, your DH and your girls!

Kate sorry to hear your DH (and you of course) have had such a stressful time, but glad he is on the mend now! Not long to go for you!!

Friends Glad to hear you are ok. Good luck with the GTT.

Grumpel Gosh, you arent far away now either!! Exciting time!!

Kiwi Glad to hear you are good, and that the GCT was ok. 6 weeks left at work!! I hope that flies by for you!! :-) We've bought most things we need now, over the last couple of weeks, as I'm pretty impatient, and we're having babys room painted this week, so next week I can start setting up his furniture etc. Exciting!!

User Welcome! Congratulations, though sorry about the OHSS. That cant have been pleasant at all :-( Good luck with the scan next week, and try not to stress out too much (as hard as that is!).

Smurfy Glad to hear you are ok! I cant believe you're overdue now!! Wont be long til you get to meet your boy!

I hope I havent missed anyone! I'm going to post this post before I give my own update, as I've just spent ages typing it and will be a bit Angry if I press the wrong button and it disappears into the ether!!

MPP81 · 05/02/2017 20:51

Sooo, afm...

On Saturday I had the 4d scan. It went well for the most part and we had some fab pics and a video. He looks gorgeous and has these awesome chubby little cheeks! However, there is a concern about his size. I am 29 weeks and he is measuring at 32+4, and is currently estimated at 4lb 5. The lady who did the scan said all she recommends is that I have the GTT, so I explained that I had that Thursday and havent had the results yet. She said she wouldnt be at all suprised if there is an issue flagged with those results, but if there's not, not to worry, he's probably 'just a big baby'. Needless to say, I am a little bit worried and have so far managed not to partake in excessive googling (that way lies madness!) but I wondered if anyone knew how concerned I shoud be! The scanner said everything else looks fine, and I have tried to attach a pic to this message but I dont think I've ever posted one before so I've no idea if Ive a) picked the clearest one I have or b) done it right!! hah! Anyway, any thoughts on this will be appreciated!!
