Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Blondes glad to hear the scan and test were ok, sorry to hear it made you sick hope your feeling better today (as much as is possible with hg)

My trip to the epu was fine, there is still an area of bleed but it's not effecting the sac and I will probably continue to bleed for a while yet. They did a blood grouping and I'm rh + so don't need to have anti D. I should be 10 + 6 but measured at 11 + 3 today so it seems to be doing well.

I've got my first midwife appointment tomorrow and I'll take along all the reports I have from the scans but is there anything I should ask/make her aware of?

Blueroses99 · 10/01/2017 20:28

Blondes. Consultant A was named as my consultant in my previous pregnancy (even though I never met him while pregnant) and did the post mortem debrief with us. I can continue my care with him if I wish but he is a regular Obs/Gynae consultant. I have been recommended to have my care for this pregnancy under Consultant B instead as she is a specialist pre-term consultant. But they are saying different things, hence the confusion.

Blueroses99 · 10/01/2017 20:33

Custard glad all is well with you, good to hear the bleeding isn't sinister (though I guess unnerving), and yay for measuring ahead!

Blondes great news about the GTT and scans.

MrsC, Sara try to remain calm xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2017 21:09

blue, oh know i understand, well if you never met A then how can he say what happened if never saw/spoke/scanned you etc, def speak and deal with B

hellotreeshellosky · 11/01/2017 16:26

Hi all. I haven't been on mn for ages, just wanted to check in and let y'all know that my DD was born bang on her due date earlier this week. It didn't quite go according to plan and I'm a bit battered but she's gorgeous and totally worth it.

Best of luck with all your pregnancies.

loopylou1984 · 11/01/2017 16:44

Congratulations hellotrees Flowers

I've had a heavy bleed with severe cramps today. Seen in the EPU and there is still a heartbeat thankfully but they said it's a subchorionic hematoma ans will have to see how the bleeding and pain pans out to know if it will stay that way. Scary times xx

Custardandcream · 11/01/2017 20:08

Congratulations Hellotrees

So sorry to hear that Mrscrabtree, I have everything crossed for you Flowers

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 11/01/2017 20:15

Congratulations hellotrees! Lovely to hear about the new arrivals. Hope you're both getting on OK!

Oh no MrsCrabtree I really hope it settles down for you - such a stressful time. Really feel for you xxx

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/01/2017 10:00

So I went to have my cervix measured today - the consultant was a complete cow about doing it and questioning whether I needed it on the basis that they removed 9mm during my colposcopy rather than 10mm which is their cut off for measuring.... anyway, she agreed to measure and turns out its on the short side so I am now on fortnightly monitoring, no sex, travel (was about to book flights) and no exercise. Really winds me up that you have to push so hard for these things and I almost thought she was going to refuse to do it when I was there!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2017 11:30

Hello trees. Congrats and sorry birth wasn't great but you are a mummy. Congrats 👶🏼👶🏼

MrsC. Sorry to hear this and hope baby is a fighter. Sounds as if they are

Chocolate. Weird how some areas are diff. Mine told me I needed cervix checked reg as same as you had done biopsy years ago and have less sceevux. They measure every 3w and all seems fine

Tho I was rec not really long haul (4hr was booked and they said that was ok as long as wore socks walked water etc) but wouldn't rec any longer - also due to dvt and yes advised no sex absolutely gagging for it as haven't had since June :( but anything to keep bubs safe - in now 29w x

JustTrixie · 12/01/2017 11:39

Don't worry ladies, I won't be ordering a Doppler. I had watched a you tube video of a woman finding the heart beat at 9 weeks but I know in reality it wouldn't be like that. Much more sensible to put money towards private scan/harmony test. We have a scan booked for Sunday when I will be 10 weeks so not too long to wait.

Wow, 4.5 weeks Sammy. It must be worrying but like the others say, its not so early for twins and premature babies do do so well now. I have had close experience of babies born at 29 and 30 weeks in the last few years and both are absolutely thriving now.

Glad your trip to the epu went well Custard, I hope your midwife appointment went well too.

Congratulations on the birth of your dd hellotrees!

Oh no Mrscrabtree, how worrying, also have everything crossed that all is ok

I hope your appointment goes well today Blueroses and Consultant B is able to address all your questions.

Smurfy1981 · 12/01/2017 11:41

*hellotrees what fab news congratulations xx

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/01/2017 11:44

blondes if you don't mind me asking, how long was your cervix measuring at 16 weeks? The measurements really varied today as I've also got a follicle in the way!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2017 13:23

Just checking notes

12/6 was 34mm
16/1 was 28mm
20/4 was 25mm
22/4 was 27mm
26/1 was 28mm

And last one I had

Hope this helps x

Blueroses99 · 12/01/2017 13:28

Chocolate sorry it's short but SO pleased that you got it checked and will get it monitored. What are you measuring at now? I'm not in any of the at risk groups i.e. previous cervical surgery or multiples, so I was never checked before. It takes seconds and could have saved my boy 😰 I'm already on the no sex, no travel, no exercise and double progesterone. I'm just waiting see the consultant and it looks like an hour long wait!

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/01/2017 14:04

Thanks blondes - apparently I've got a follicle near my cervix so was more difficult to measure - first measurement was 2.4 but second was 2.8. She thinks the follicle might be squashing everything so am trying not to worry yet!! Do you know at what point they'd put a stitch in?!

blueroses I just can't believe they don't check it routinely and then do ongoing monitoring if needed - just crazy. Really annoys me that I had to push so hard for it!! Really hope it goes OK with the consultant today - let me know how you go.

Thanks again both for the info xxx

Blueroses99 · 12/01/2017 14:09

Stitch timing depends on reason
History - 12-14w
Indicated - 14-20w
Rescue/Emergency- 20-24w
I should go into the first category and you should go into second.
2-2.5cm is the danger zone, so I expect you'll get one if it goes under 2 xx

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/01/2017 14:21

Thanks bluerose - I've actually booked a private scan at fmc on Monday to check again as it was so rush today /she couldn't get a clear measurement so would rather get a second opinion and start on the progesterone if needed at least!

Hope consultant b pulls his finger out for u!!

Custardandcream · 12/01/2017 15:13

Chocolate sorry to hear you had a rubbish time with the consultant, glad you managed to get it checked and will now be monitored.

I really can't understand why it's not routinely checked, I've asked 2 midwives about getting checked as my gran had an incompetent cervix so I'm slightly worried there could be a hereditary factor. But as I'm not in an at risk group they don't see the need for me to have it checked, I'm considering having a private scan at 16 weeks.

Blueroses really hope your appointment goes well

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/01/2017 15:32

Custard I would definitely get it checked at 16 weeks if you are at all worried. I really didn't think it would be a problem today and would just be for reassurance so just goes to show. I know lots of people don't think twice about booking reassurance scans for HB so it's no different really! Annoying they won't just do it though

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2017 15:43

Usually by 16w if not 20w latest depending on why and measurements

Think under 2.4/5 they stitch in my area but I've never been that low

Normal is 3.5/5 at 12w hence I had regular scans but mine was smaller due to cone biopsy

Agree they should check on all preg ladies. Literally takes few mins

Blueroses99 · 12/01/2017 16:41

I'm getting a stitch! 😊

Consultant B is lovely (and actually was in the delivery room with me for Jovan, though I don't remember as it happened so quickly). She had read the notes but asked me to describe what happened in the fateful day and came to the conclusion that it was probably caused by an incompetent cervix. She offered me 2 options, stitch or monitoring, I chose stitch and she agreed. She also encouraged me to see Consultant A on Monday for a second opinion as he would be the one doing the stitch and they would schedule it after my 12w scan.

The downside to dealing with this lovely consultant is that I also need to deal with her not so lovely midwife that gave me totally opposite messages and caused the stress in the first place. She said it was probably nothing to do with my cervix and that I wouldn't be seen by the specialist clinic if I insisted on seeing Consultant A. (There's a moral of the story here somewhere)

As a bonus I got to see baby again as consultant wanted to an ultrasound. I've got a wriggler!

Trixie glad you've decided to step away from the Doppler idea, professional scans are much better.

Custard good idea to do it at 16w as I know a couple of ladies that sadly had losses with IC before reaching their 20w scan. Also privately they are much less likely to object! IC is not meant to be hereditary but my auntie needed stitches after losing 3 babies so I'm unconvinced.

Chocolate there's a short cervix club over on antenatal but it doesn't seem to be very busy at the moment. Definitely keep monitoring the cervix and avoid anything that might introduce an infection.

Blondes glad you're doing ok.
