Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Afternoon everyone! Thanks for the congrats on our little boy :-)

Chocolate Glad all was looking good at your harmony test, and great that you got some lovely pics! Hoow long a wait do you have for the results? Hope it passes quickly for you!

Ghengis hope you're doing ok.

Sammy How are things with you? When is your next scan now?

Icy Totally get your reluctance to book extra scans for fear that you'll end up going twice a week. That was my main worry too but the anxiety is easing slightly now that I can feel baby moving about. Hope you're ok.

Custard How are you doing?

Welcome Kez and congratulations! Wow, a 2ww in New York sounds fantastic! Sorry to hear you've been struggling with the sickness though. That sucks. Hope you feel better soon and good luck with your first scan.

Blueroses Glad you're in the NHS system and that you are on reduced hours at work. Hope all goes well with your scan on Wednesday. I'll be thinking of you.

Blondes Fantastic pics of your daughter!! Glad everything is ok! :-)

Rebecca Congrats on your 12 week scan! Glad all is looking good :-)

Rosebud I hope the uti has cleared up and you're feeling better. Sorry to hear you have a longer wait for the harmony results. That must be frustrating for you. Fingers crossed you'll hear soon!

Friends How are you doing? Hope the gestational diabetes test goes ok. Can't believe your boss decided to break your news for you!

Welcome Sara and congratulations!!

Blue Major congratulations on the birth of your little boy!!

Trixie Its absolutely fantastic to see you here!! Sorry to hear you've had some spotting, but as the others have said, it seems to be quite normal. 2-3 on the CB digi sounds very positive. I hope you are ok xx

Wizz Bloody hell, that meeting sounds a bit rough! I understand they have to cover their arses but did they really have to make it all sound so terrifying?? Hope you're ok.

Jenbot Glad to hear you're ok. I'm also feeling enormous and paranoid about aches and pains, and also hoping its all just normal. Everything I've read says it is though, but if you are really worried its always worth getting checked I think, to put your mind at rest.

Welcome Hedgehog (what an amazing name!) and congratulations! I also had mild cramping early on. It seems to be quite normal. Good luck with your scan on 20th!

Lucie How are you? Hope all is well :-)

AFM, I had my repeat 20 week scan today and they managed to get all the measurements this time, probably due to Blondes fab advice about drinking orange juice beforehand! They said everything is looking fine, which is a massive relief, and they re-confirmed that we are having a boy. Whew, can't believe that's pretty much it for NHS scans now. We are going to have a 3D one in January, but that will be it then, as I'm not sure our funds could stretch any further!

Hope everyone else is ok :-)

loopylou1984 · 12/12/2016 18:01

Rose - that is so annoying about your harmony, when will the results of the second one be back? I hope they're rushing them through!

Wizzi - 29 weeks!! Your midwife must be very pro natural birth. I think you should feed back about that, especially if her stats were that wrong!

Trixie - congrats on the digi!!

Friends - I have to have the diabetes test at 29 weeks as my dads diabetic. It's going to be a long boring morning at the hospital!

Jen - I had exactly the same at your stage. DH was getting me milk in the middle of the night!

Welcome hedgehog! I totally get that scanxiety, but cramping is definitely normal.

Blue roses - good luck for Wednesday's scan

Custard, try not to worry. Most people say their symptoms came and went.

Blondes - lol at the hat! Congratulations on your little girl :). Lovely that she turned to give you a nice shot!

MPP - my next scans on the 19th, a week today. I'm ok, still getting Braxton hicks so think I'm stuck with them until the end. 25+3 today, 3 weeks exactly since we found out about the ttts. Glad all went well at your 20 week scan, and congrats again on your boy :). Xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 13/12/2016 05:19

Glad your scan went well MPP, and all is looking good with BabyMPP - great news.

Custard sorry to read you're feeling anxious - I know it's hard not to worry.X

Congratulations and welcome Hedgehog! Cramping is definitely normal.

Yikes Wizzi those stats are mad, so I hope they are wrong! It's a pity they weren't more supportive.

Welcome and congratulations Trixie! How is the spotting now?

Sorry to read about the inconclusive results Rosebud...how frustrating. I hope the week flies by for you.

Good luck for your scans Kez and Blue!

I also hate those few seconds before they say anything Friends - I refuse to look at the screen until my doctor starts talking normally.

Hello to everyone else - I hope you're all well. I have a scan tomorrow morning so am half anxious/excited.
I hope everyone else is well -

loopylou1984 · 13/12/2016 07:18

Genghis - good luck for your scan! How many weeks is this? Xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/12/2016 08:29

Mmp81. Glad orange juice worked. It's something in the acidic ...... we are also having 4d in Jan at 30w. Before they get too fat ......

Sammy. Only 3w since ttts. Seems longer and must be for you - but glad all going ok

Genghis. Hope scan goes well tomorrow. Remind me how far along you are?

Custard - how are cramps. Have you spoken to mw?

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 13/12/2016 10:26

Rebecca, MPP and blondes glad you all had good scans. Such a relief when its all ok.

Hope time speeds up for everyone waiting for first scans -its such a nail biting time and hard not to analyse every twinge.

Blue glad to hear you're getting on ok and breastfeeding like a pro!

Rose did they do a re-draw for your harmony?? I called yesterday and they told me I didn't have enough fetal DNA in my first sample (after 5 stressful minutes when I was told I needed to be transferred to speak to the test woman...). Am going for a nuchal scan and redraw and just hoping its all ok. They've told me its not uncommon and nothing to worry about but just wish it was straightforward!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 13/12/2016 11:30

Aw blondes how lovely! Glad all is well (delightful hat too!).

Is harmony available on the NHS? Or only privately? Not that an extra few hundred quid is anything compared to the many thousands spent getting to this point!

Custardandcream · 13/12/2016 14:14

Glad your scans went well Blondes and MPP

Good luck for your scans tomorrow Kez and Blueroses

Blondes the back ache has stopped today thanks, and I now can't work out if I'm feeling sick today or just imagining it. I've not spoken to mw about it as I feel silly for being worried. I'm so fed up today, I want to be happy and excited but I'm just worried and anxious the whole time.

Blueroses99 · 13/12/2016 14:21

I'm all over the place today. At 10.45, I couldn't remember if I'd taken my cyclogest yet. Given if I had have taken it, it would have been at 10.15, my complete short term memory loss is shocking. I'm working tomorrow before my scan so expect to be a nervous wreck. Thanks for all the well wishes xx

Blueroses99 · 13/12/2016 16:56

Sorry to post again... I'm so distressed!! I spoke to the Pre-term Clinic, they are ignoring the advice that I was given by the consultant to have an elective stitch at 12-14 weeks and offered me an appointment at 16 weeks! Then offered an appointment at 13 weeks as a favour! If they decide a stitch is appropriate treatment (and it might not be) they could schedule it the following week, but I'm not sure if they will. If I try to speak to the consultant again, it would affect the 'continuity of care' and I'm not sure if there was a threat that they would dump me. Equally I could have a private stitch but why should I need to and potentially that causes the same issues with them not wanting to take me on. Bear in mind the consultant that I saw works for the same maternity unit. Don't know what to do. I've been crying for hours.

lucieloos · 13/12/2016 16:58

Blueroses, good luck for the scan tomorrow. Hope it all goes well. They are always very nerve wracking!

Hedgehog, harmony is normally only available privately. I was glad we paid out for it though, found it very reassuring.

Choc, sorry to hear your harmony was also unable to be done. Good luck with nuchal and redraw.

Ghengis, good luck with your scan tomorrow. How far along are you now?

Sammy, glad all is ok with you. Must be annoying have the braxton hicks all the time. Hope all goes well with your next scan and you can relax a bit for Christmas.

MPP, glad they were able to get the measurements at your scan this time. Must be such a relief to know everything is ok. I can't wait to get mine done and pray everything is fine!

Blondes, lovely scan pic! Ours is a little acrobat too!

Custard, sorry you are feeling anxious. It's really hard in the very early days. Not too much longer until your scan and hopefully that will reassure you a little.

Trixie, hope all is well with you?

AFM, we had our private scan on Saturday, it was really good to see the baby again and I felt it would help relax me over Christmas. The baby was very active and kept trying to put its fingers in its mouth but coordination not very good at the moment! She showed us all the ribs, bones, knees, spine etc and we could even see hair starting to grow on its head! Amazing! She also did a sneak peak in 4d and we could see its little hand and part of its face. We aren't going to go for a full on 4d scan though as we don't want to see too much of what it looks like before the birth but the little peak was lovely!

Had consultant appt today and was in and out in 2 mins. She said women who have had IVF tend to be more anxious so unless I had any thoughts otherwise she would put me down for consultant led which would mean I would have 3 more growth scans over the remaining time. I'm really keen to be midwife led though because from what I've heard the birthing experience at my hospital is a lot more pleasant and relaxed on the midwife rather than consultant ward. There's also lots more private rooms for afterwards a lot of which are doubles which would mean DH could also stay whereas with consultant everyone is in together on a big ward. She said that was fine if I wanted to stay midwife and low risk and there was no actual medical reason for me to be consultant led. She said the midwife will still measure my growth I just won't have the scans but if the midwife feels there's any cause for concern she will obviously refer me back to the consultant so I'm happy with that for now. That's it until after Xmas!. Have 20 week scan on 3rd Jan Smile

Sara237 · 13/12/2016 17:25

Blue that sounds really stressful especially with what happened before with your boy. If the consultant has recommended the stitch then what are they up to? If they've offered 13 weeks that's something but I think I might call them and reiterate concerns, history and what consultant said. Feel for you.
Custard - I feel anxious too and I'm only 2 weeks in; god its scary. I think its normal to feel like this though after all the ivf hoops and then thinking a bfp will make everything great and while it is amazing, its a whole new Kevel of worry. Thinking of you.

Sara237 · 13/12/2016 17:26

Thats level not Kevel...☺

Blue2014 · 13/12/2016 18:44

BlueR - I'm so angry with them for putting you through this!!! Thinking of you my love X

Lucie - I was junior doctor consultant led. The midwives were so so much better and more knowledgable. Every bad decision made in my care was done by a doctor. If I do this again i would go midwife led.

lucieloos · 13/12/2016 19:02

Blueroses, so sorry to hear of all the stress you are going through. I would be tempted to get in touch with the consultant again regardless.

Blue, that's good to hear. My community midwife is amazing and so lovely so I'm happy to be under her care and fingers crossed things continue to go smoothly and I can stick with them.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 14/12/2016 02:33

Blueroses I can't believe they're doing this - I'm so sorry to read about what you're going through. Did they give a reason why they are not going with what the consultant recommended? I'd also be tempted to contact the consultant again.

I'm glad your scan went well Lucie and that you got to see so much. It also sounds like you've made a good decision to go midwife-led. I can't believe it'll be your 20w scan on 3rd Jan - that will fly in with Christmas (good!)

I hope the re-draw goes well Chocolate, I'd also read it's quite common though like you say, why couldn't things just be straightforward?!

Sorry to read about your anxiety Custard and Sara Flowers because it sucks.

Thanks for asking about the scan - I'm 25w1 and it went fine. He's still measuring over a week ahead but I also got my full gtt results and it was negative so that was a relief. Oh, and I had my cervix length checked, and it was via dildocam in the end - a great way to start the day!

I hope everyone is well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/12/2016 05:51

Hedgehog - I thought harmony was always private and £400ish tho on the over 40's thread I'm on a lady got offered for free as her NHS nucal was higher

Blue I'm sorry they are being
Picky with stitch. Wtf ! I would
Contact consultant and mention what is happening so guess 13w is better then nothing

I as told up to 16w was ok (diff circumstances to you)

Lucie. Of course we are going to be anxious etc. It's taken many of us years to get where are are let alone thousands of pounds for some

Sara. You will feel anxious and possibly for whole preg (sorry) tho I am slightly more chilled now past 24w

Gengis. We are roughly the same. I'm 25w Tom
And yes the good old dildo cam

Had many of those over the years ...... I don't mind them but when they nudge your bladder I think I'm gonna wet myself

RoseBud2016 · 14/12/2016 09:46

Nurse 3rd round of IVF for us after 2 previous losses. Pleased to hear things are going well for you! How far along are you now?

Hedgehog Welcome! I've felt exactly the same as you with so much anxiety and worry after previous experiences. Still do most days! The aches and mild cramping are definitely normal though.

Custard scan buddies! I have a scan on Monday coming too! Mines at 11am how about you?

Congrats on you 25w scan Blondes Lovely scan pic Smile
And congrats on your 20w scan MPP and successfully getting all of your measurements- must be such a relief!

Chocolate Sorry to hear you are now in limbo land too! I didn't have to have a redraw because they took 2 vials of blood the first time around so when the first vial failed, they agreed to test the second vial before making me do a redraw. It only took them 2 working days to give me the results of the second vial- I got the results yesterday........ all the lowest risk it could be (

friends123 · 14/12/2016 10:27

Hi all,
Hope your all well, just thought I'd give you an update. Unfortunately it's not looking too good for us at the minute. I was admitted into hospital last night because my waters have gone. I'm just currently waiting for a scan but the consultant doesn't seem very hopeful. Life is so bloody shit!

lucieloos · 14/12/2016 11:09

Oh friends I am so sorry to hear this lovely. Do they know why it has happened? I really really hope everything is ok Flowers

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 14/12/2016 11:12

Oh Friends, so sorry to read your update. Absolutely everything crossed that the scan brings good news for you. It is shit. xx

Blueroses99 · 14/12/2016 11:58

Friends I'm so sorry to hear that Sad As you know I've been there, and I'm hoping for a more positive outcome for you. PM me if you want to chat. ((Hugs))

RoseBud2016 · 14/12/2016 12:05

Friends I am so so sorry to hear that- I hope that they can scan you quickly and give you a better idea of next steps and hopefully some positive news. I just cant believe it- it's awful. Flowers

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 14/12/2016 13:19

God friends you must be terrified. I really hope you're ok - keeping everything crossed for you xxxx
