Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Oh, and I found robinsons apple squash made drinking easier! It's probably personal preference but that was the only thing I could stomach. Xx

lucieloos · 12/11/2016 20:53

Thanks Sammy, I know what you mean. I'm trying not to complain too as I am so grateful to be in this position and used to dream of finally having morning sickness etc but it does get hard at times and it seems to go on for so long. I think it's only natural for it to get you down a bit we are so happy that we are in the position that we are but we are only human and sometimes it is hard.

I think I might try the apple squash. I've been on orange and pineapple but I'm starting to go off that now and I have a bit of a thing for apple juice so maybe that will be a better choice.

tigerdog · 12/11/2016 21:47

So pleased to hear all the good scan news!

Great news chocolate and don't sweat the measurements, it's very imprecise at this stage.

lucie when did you do your harmony test? Am just trying to plan when my next things are as I need milestones to aim for. If I can break things up into small units of time to pass then I can manage it.

sammy hope you find something to ease the back pain. I'm missing yoga and my back is feeling it already. Can you get to pregnancy yoga?

I had my clinic appointment on Friday. It was unfortunately with a doctor that I really didn't like (he was so rude to me more than once and is such a cold fish). He didn't do anything to reassure me about the bleed and took ages of looking before he said anything or turned the screen my way, which did shit me up a bit as I'm so anxious at the moment. But all fine, and discharged to routine antenatal care so that's me on my way...feel a bit nervous about being left to my own devices!

On the drinks front - I've found that orange juice or apple juice watered down with sparkling water has been the perfect drink when feeling sick.

I'm not allowed to dtd after my bleed and to be honest it will be a fair old while until I feel like I'm happy to! I'm too scared to do anything at the moment! I'm still spotting a little bit, wish it would stop.

I think there is a lot of pressure after infertility to treasure every second of being pregnant even when you're hugging the toilet bowl but it's still the same tough old time that it is for those that just glimpse a willy and get pregnant! Don't be too hard on yourselves.

I've been at a hen do today. Found out just before that the bride got pregnant as soon as they started trying and is 13 weeks with twins. How is it that easy for some people?! I still felt so envious. There were two other preggos there and they were clearly relaxed, no issues etc and I wished I could feel like that instead of worrying all the time and feeling so afraid of things not working out. I wonder if I will make friends with pregnant people I meet - I can't see myself bonding with them unless they've been through infertility too!

This morning I was feeling so sick I was gagging on a protein shake but my nausea went around 11am and hasn't come back! Glad but also nervous that's it's gone! It's lose-lose at the moment - feel wretched when sick and paranoid when I'm not!

loopylou1984 · 12/11/2016 22:00

I couldn't (and still can't) stand any sqush with orange.... satsumas are fine though!

Tiger - I've never done yoga, but am going to look in to pregnancy specific classes so might give it a try. Am also going to see if swimming helps.
How awful of your doctor! Surely he should know how anxious you're feeling given his job! Good news on being discharged though, I remember feeling the same about being 'left' in the normal world.
I also remember the symptom vs symptoms gone paranoia, that was until the nausea settled in all day every day!

lucieloos · 12/11/2016 22:03

Ohh tiger yes orange juice with sparkling water sounds good! That's next on my list too. I'm glad your scan went ok even if you did have the horrible doctor. You can have the harmony at any time from 10 weeks to something like 16 weeks I think. I had mine done straight away at 10+1 although measured 10+4. It's just something I wanted to get out of the way ASAP.

Jenbot78 · 13/11/2016 10:14

Hello all, great to hear of positive news on the scan front, Rose congrats on the positive 7 week scan. I also wept at the 7 week, and the 12 week. We had to see a consultant (due to thyroid) who said "you look like you don't believe it" and I cried and told her "I don't!"

Have started to tell people at work now and a few friends. That has helped make it feel a bit more real, though of course the anxiety remains. At 14+3 I am getting a bit bigger, alarmingly so actually-wondering whether a lot of it is fluid? My fingers are v. swollen so maybe so. What size was everyone else at this point? Could you see a visible bump?

Very frustrated with NHS blood testing. As I have an underactive thyroid I need to have blood tests regularly. However, they keep losing my test results! This happened at 7 weeks and now again at 13 weeks. I have had to have them repeated twice now. Just another anxiety worrying that my levels are all OK...

Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 11:13

Jen - my jeans were uncomfortable at 14 weeks but I was still in them. I noticed a bump but not sure people who didn't know me would have.
That sounds like such a pain with your test results!!! Xx

ellesbellesxxx · 13/11/2016 15:17

Just having a mammoth catch up with thread!!!! Just about to head out so will have to post personal replies to people later but...

I am so impressed at all of you who have been DTD?!?!?!?!?!?!?

lucieloos · 13/11/2016 16:53

How long do the metoclopramide take to kick in once you start them? I've managed to acquire a week or twos worth and am going to give them a go. Will they help with nausea as well as actual sickness?

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 19:24

Lucie, is say by the next day my metoclopramide had made a massive difference. For me they completely got rid of the nausea except if I got too hungry or on traffic filled car journeys. I'm so glad you've managed to get some!

Elles - don't be too impressed, it's only been a handful of times! Lol.

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 19:24

*I'd say

ellesbellesxxx · 13/11/2016 19:32

Haha I am still in awe at a handful of times! Saying that, the progesterone pessaries are not conducive to a romantic night ;)

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 19:33

Geez no! This wasn't until after I'd stopped the progesterone!!!

lucieloos · 13/11/2016 19:36

Thanks Sammy I've taken 2 today but haven't felt any better as of yet. Here's hoping tomorrow will make a difference!

friends123 · 13/11/2016 19:53

Lucie - have you tired Ice lollies? I've not really had any nausea but when I did they worked a treat.

Jen - I'm 14 weeks too and I've got a lot bigger. I thought it might have been the progesterone because I also seem to have high progesterone but who knows.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they check your cervix at the 20 week scan?

Hope everyone else is well and a good weekends been had by all.

lucieloos · 13/11/2016 19:59

Funnily enough friends I've just added 2 boxes of ice lollies to my shopping as I really fancy them but my nausea lasts all the time apart from when I'm asleep so I don't think I could get through that many but I'm looking forward to them all the same Grin I'm not sure about the 20 week scan sorry.

stealthbanana · 13/11/2016 20:10

lucie I took 4 a day and they took a couple of days to kick in. For me they didn't take the nausea away (I have had low level nausea persistently) but they mostly stop the vomiting.

friends I doubt an NHS scan will check it unless you have a particular risk factor and maybe not even then. They have to do an internal scan to see it properly although the sonographer might be able to get a look at it from the tummy ultrasound.

For the DTDers - progesterone via the back door not the front Grin

I've had a weird weekend. Have been packing boxes and generally overdoing it today. Perhaps inspired by the fact that my boobs started producing colostrum yesterday. Am totally freaked out! Still cannot believe any of this is real, despite the giant munchkin currently doing boxercise inside me.

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 20:19

Friends - my cervix definitely wasn't checked at my 20 week scan.

Stealth!! That must be so weird! How many weeks to go? Xx

loopylou1984 · 13/11/2016 20:20

Oh and Lucie - I was on 3 a day

stealthbanana · 13/11/2016 20:21

It is completely bizarre. It's just drops of clear liquid but wth?! DH is fascinated. He keeps squeezing them and saying "it's like a sieve! Your boob is like a sieve!"

Am 33+1 today. The weeks are slowly ticking by!

friends123 · 13/11/2016 20:52

Thanks ladies. I've been getting a bit worried, I seem to be having a lot of clear, watery discharge. I googled it and started to worry that it might amniotic fluid.Google seems to sugges any discharge should be milky.

Lucie - you can't beat a good ice lolly, my current faves seem to be the fruit pastel ones :).

Not long now stealth!! I'm glad you're managing to keep hubby entertained Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2016 21:16

Been awol. Last few days had clinic sickness after thinking was over

Trying to catch up but can't reply to all

Tiger sounds horrific but glad all ok in the end 💐

Welcome newbies and rose so lovely when have first scan

Have 20w scan tomorrow. Can't believe I'm half way. Also still don't totally believe I'm preg after all this time - tho the sickness and daily injections should convince me 😂

glasshalfsomething · 13/11/2016 21:17

friends I've had the same from the very start. Nurse said it was likely due to my pessaries and only to worry if I got a big gush? Not sure if that helps at all?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2016 21:21

Friends - they will check my cervix tomorrow as due to cancerous cells and having cervix lasered and cone biopsy years ago I have slightly less cervix

They measured and scanned at 12w and said wouid so tomorrow as well to check all ok

Banana - you could collect and freeze and then give to baby when born

I had to help a mum collect (I'm a maternity nurse) and her mw advised it to do possible diabetic and some other reason which I can't R.E.M. As have baby brain

stealthbanana · 13/11/2016 21:56

friends I had loads of clear discharge in the first half of pregnancy. I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe ask the sonographer to see if she can see the cervix on the abdominal ultrasound?

blondes I think I'm just going to leave it there! It's only drops so not sure how I'd even store it. Presumably it'll keep coming post birth if it's started now?
