Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Hi all, may I join in?

Got my Positive test on Tue (x4, just to be sure Smile), after ET two weeks ago, so still very early!

Viability scan on 2nd Dec - so fingers (and legs) crossed until then. Figure at that point I may be able to relax.

Gonna read this thread from the start and get up to date...

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 10/11/2016 01:38

Welcome Sunrise, I'm sorry to read about the hard time you've had. Everything crossed for you.

Rose sorry to read that you've been feeling awful, and I hope you start feeling better soon.

Goodness Tiger, you poor thing. That sounds absolutely traumatic...I hope you've been able to calm down somewhat. I'm so pleased that you were able to have that scan, and everything was still looking good.

Welcome Glass and congratulations on your bfp!

tigerdog · 10/11/2016 08:40

Good luck today rose! Thinking of you.

Welcome glass, and congratulations! That is a long wait until your scan. I had to wait three weeks but due to spotting/bleeding I've had a couple earlier.

Welcome to you too sunrise. Did you tell your DH yet?

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Feeling a bit better today, having spent the last 36 hours in bed. Still bleeding but now I know why I'm not too freaked out (would prefer it to stop though!)

Off to the GP today so that I'm in the local NHS system here. Have only just registered even though I moved back properly a few months ago.

stealthbanana · 10/11/2016 08:59

My goodness tiger that sounds extremely dramatic and utterly terrifying. Once the bleeding stops will that be it? Or will you need to be on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy?

rose good luck today!

Welcome glass!

Tiger that sounds awful - you seem to be coping with it a very level head. I ope the bleeding stops soon and you can get back to normal.

Welcome glass! Hope the next 9 months are peaceful for you!

Thanks for the welcomes. I still haven't told DH. I'm feeling a tiny bit more positive about things but feel like I can't share the burden yet as I know he will worry. Must put my big girl pants on and do it soon.

RoseBud2016 · 10/11/2016 19:32

Hi all,

So glad to hear you have been taking it really easy Tiger. How did you GP visit go? I have one tomorrow.

Congrats glass!

Second I completely understand you feeling cautious but you will need someone to do the housework for you Wink so the earlier you tell DH the sooner he can get started Grin

Had my early scan today- we saw a perfect little embie measuring one day ahead at 7weeks and a nice strong heartbeat! It honestly doesn't feel real- I cried............ a lot.

glasshalfsomething · 10/11/2016 19:41

Thank you all for the welcomed!

rosebud that sounds just wonderful Smile

tigerdog · 10/11/2016 20:33

Hurrah! Have been checking for an update all day rose, so pleased!

GP appointment was fine - same GP that referred me for investigations three years ago so she was very pleased!

Hopefully only bed rest for a few days stealth. The bleed is near the forming placenta so needs to heal. Seeing my clinic tomorrow so hopefully they will have some more advice.

How is everyone else?

lucieloos · 11/11/2016 09:07

That's brilliant news rose so pleased for you! Another hurdle passed.

Tiger, that must have been very scary! I'm glad you are resting up and hope the bleeding stops soon.

I'm 12 weeks today but still feeling very ill. I was sick twice last night after dinner, getting really bad headaches now as well and still extremely hungry. I'm really hoping that it's going to pass soon. I didn't go to the doctors for the tablets. I keep wondering if it's worth it now as isn't it meant to ease up soon??

Grumpelstiltskin · 11/11/2016 09:08

Happy Friday, all. Brew

Pleased to see some new names here- congrats and welcome sunrise and glass- I hope your pregnancies go smoothly, scanxiety et al notwithstanding!

Glad to hear you're recovering, tiger. What a terrifying, stressful day you had. I hope bed rest is helping and the GP is supportive. Will you need any further treatment in the future other than monitoring?

Rose! Super-happy to hear that your scan went well, amazing news. I did a small internal jig (on train so external one inappropriate) when I read that. Grin

Well, this has been a week and half, hasn't it! My particular highlight was someone well-meaning at work asking me if I feared for my unborn child's future post- US election. I mean, thanks for that! I've only just got around to thinking this child is probably happening, ffs. And yes, Trump is a full-blown nightmare waiting to happen but checks and balances, checks and balances.

Well done everyone else for growing those babies- sorry for lack of personals but on phone. Hope you enjoy your weekends.

MPP81 · 11/11/2016 12:01

Tiger that sounds utterly terrifying!! I am so pleased to hear you and your little bean are ok. That must be a huge relief for you.

Welcome Glasshalf and congratulations! Also crossing everything for your scan for you, and we're all here to handhold while you wait :-)

Brilliant news on your scan Rosebud!!

Second Its difficult to be optimistic isnt it. Good luck with tellin your DH. As Rosebudd said, you can get him to do the housework for you :-)

Lucie sorry to hear you're still feeling rough :-( They do say the sickness wears off after 12 weeks, but from what I've read it can also carry on. Would it be worth seeing the doctor so you have something to take just incase? You could only take it if you felt you needed it then? As for the headaches, I've found mine have gotten worse over the last few weeks. It sucks :-( When is your NHS scan now? My 20 week scan is 3 weeks today. Why does the wait for scans seem to take forever!!??

Ghengis, I got asked a similar question this week! I was a little taken aback. Hope you are ok!

Hope everyone else is doing well!! :-)

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 11/11/2016 15:33

rose amazing news on your scan! Such a relief. tiger hope you're taking it easy and no more bleeding!!

lucie sorry you're feeling rough. Think I'd be tempted to get the drugs just in case - I've heard sickness can be ongoing/reappear much later so might be good to have "backup" as it were and work out what drugs actually work for you as understand it can take different types!

Waves to the new joiners!!

Afm, we got back from holiday yesterday and had our first scan today - saw a strong heartbeat and measuring pretty much spot on - maybe a day late on one measurement. Consultant isn't worried at all but I am obviously anxious it might mean something!? I also thought I'd feel more relieved but feel quit overwhelmed/conscious that it's actually real and there's more to lose. Not sure if that makes any sense!? I've had two early miscarriages although never seen a heartbeat so think consultant is cautious about that and wants to scan again in two weeks.

Apart from that I've been seriously constipated and think the nausea is kicking in. The glamour!!!

Happy weekend to everyone else

RoseBud2016 · 11/11/2016 17:52

Aww thanks all!

Tiger What did they do at your appointment? Mine was a telephone appointment but now she's asked to see me in person. I've realised I'm clueless as to what happens now!

Lucie 12 weeks! That feels like it has flown by- although I'm sure it doesn't feel like that to you. Sorry you are feeling rubbish.

Grumpel Hello my lovely! Love your little jig Grin- I've been doing little jigs in my head for most of today in between periods of nausea and wind
You're well-meaning colleague Confused There's a way to bring a pregnant woman down.

Chocolate Congratulations!!! How far along are you? I think a few days out means nothing important at this stage. The embryo is still so small that a mm out could give you a difference in dates. The main thing is you have a strong heartbeat! Yay! I am in a similar position to you in that I have also had two early MCs without seeing a heartbeat so this all feels very new and scary.

RoseBud2016 · 11/11/2016 17:52

*your

loopylou1984 · 11/11/2016 18:44

Chocolate - I have twins on board and although one is measuring spot on the other is 3 days behind. The difference is mms at this point so please don't worry about being a day behind.

Lucie - my nausea didn't go away until around 16 weeks, I say go get the drugs!

MPP - the waiting for scans is horrendous. Oh to be a normal Oregon and just enjoy pregnancy.

Grumpel - I've heard similar from a colleague re Trump, why do people feel the need to say these things?

Tiger - that sounds terrifying you poor thing. Glad things seem a to be improving now.

Rosebud - congrats on the heart beat :). So pleased for you.

Sunrise - tentative congrats, I get the cautiousness though. Have you told DH yet?

Welcome and congrats to glass too :).

Waves to everyone else, sorry if I missed anything important.

I'm really struggling with a bad back at the moment. It's my upper middle back and there is literally no comfortable position. Paracetamol doesn't touch it and I'm not really sure what else to try. Any words of wisdom? Xx

RoseBud2016 · 12/11/2016 13:22

No advice Sammy But sounds nasty- hopefully someone will be able to you some ideas to help alienate the pain.

Question for you all- when did you first DTD after your ET and BFP? DH is being very understanding and patient but I don't want to avoid it forever. I'm just scared. Any experiences or advice? X

SecondSunrise · 12/11/2016 13:35

Sammy could you try a warm bath and warm heat pack? Some stretches? You could also see a chiropractor or massage but you would need to tell them you're pregnant of course. Hope it gets better soon.
Yes have told DH, he was in complete shock and mildly amused. We are both ignoring it for now apart from upping my levothyroxine and taking folate.
Hoping everyone is feeling ok.

friends123 · 12/11/2016 14:55

Hi all,
Lucie - I'm having really bad headaches too. I would get some help with the sickness. It can't be nice. Fab news about your results by the way.

Tiger - I hope things are going okay now and your managing to rest. Mine had completely gone by my 12 week scan. I was terrified though.

Sammy - have you tired a wheat bag? It use to be the only think that helped me with bad back and af.

Rosebud - we still haven't dtd yet.I'm just so worried. The midwife assured me that it is completley safe so I don't know why I'm still holding back.

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 12/11/2016 15:16

Thanks Rose, I'm 7 weeks today so still a long way to go! We haven't dtd. Am sure it's perfectly ok but just don't want to risk spotting and more stress!!

sammy thanks for the reassurance and that's really interesting about your twins measuring different. Re your back, do you have a foam roller or a tennis ball even - I get knots and find it helps loosen things a bit.

stealthbanana · 12/11/2016 15:23

sammy do you have a Swiss ball/birthing ball thing (the big bouncy exercise balls you sit on)? If so, put it against a wall and sit against it with your legs bent in front of you. Then very gently roll your head back so it is sitting on the top of the ball. It'll gently open up your mid to upper back. (It goes without saying that should you see a physio if you have an actual problem with your back, as opposed to it being a bit sore.)

lucie - take the drugs! And drink a LOT of water, you need loads when preg.

tiger glad you're on the mend. Hope he bleeding has stopped.

sunrise congrats & welcome

rose HURRAH! for positive scan. You're on your way, lady! we got pretty much straight back into dtd-ing - with a FET there's no reason not to (as no needle holes in your vagina thanks to EC) and the embie is well protected. Plus it's good stress relief! Grin

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 12/11/2016 19:18

Rose - we didn't dtd until at least a month after my bfp! I was too scared of panic inducing bleeding. We have a few times now, but def not as much as before. Luckily DH is very understanding.

Sunrise - glad you've told DH :)
A bath does help, but only while I'm in it annoyingly!

Friends - no I haven't, will look them up. Thank you.

Chocolate - il give the tennis ball a go. DH has been massaging without much impact, but willing to try anything.

Stealth - I do have one of those balls, it needs pumping up though so I'll ask DH tomorrow. I didn't do anything specific to hurt my back, it just came on. Fx it's just the weight of the bump, but will see a doctor if it doesn't get better soon. Xx

loopylou1984 · 12/11/2016 19:32

Anyone know if tiger balm is ok in pregnancy? Xx

lucieloos · 12/11/2016 19:46

Thanks for all the advice about the drugs. I think if I'm not feeling any better next week I'm going to have to go to the doctors and get them.

MPP, my NHS scan is on Tuesday so nearly here. I'm still anxious about it even though I've had 3 other scans and the harmony test. Your 20 week scan will be here before you know it.

Choc, brilliant news on your scan. A day here or there really doesn't make a difference at all so please don't worry. The measuring is very subjective at this stage as the baby is so small.

Stealth, this is one of the problems. Before I got pregnant I used to drink lots of water throughout the day but now I've really gone off it and it's bland taste just makes me feel worse. I'm trying to add squash and juices etc but I do feel like I should be drinking more water. It's just a catch 22 situation though.
*
Sammy,* sorry you are in so much pain with your back. I hope it passes soon. I don't think tiger balm is advised unfortunately

Rose, we still haven't really dtd and I'm 12 weeks now! DH is very understanding lol. It's a mix of having been too afraid to for a good while and feeling so rough and tired that I just don't want to at the moment. I'm hoping everything will go ok with the 12 week scan next week and then maybe we can start to get back to normal.

loopylou1984 · 12/11/2016 20:34

No, Hmph, just found out it's not due to one of the ingredients :(. I am trying not to complain as I'm so happy to be in this position, but it's reducing me to tears sometimes Sad
