Who knew pregnancy could make you feel so crap? I'm about 7 weeks and have spent the last week feeling nauseous all day! It's becoming really difficult to hide from people as I look and feel so ill all the time. The only silver lining is I'm guessing all this sickness is a positive thing as I must have lots of pregnancy hormones in my body??
Tell me it gets easier ?!

jpeg28 · 08/11/2016 06:55

Highhopes it will get easier!! I'm 17 now and I've forgotten how awful I used to feel!! For me it eased off at 12 weeks but it was not great before that! I was nauseous all day every day and just felt horrendous!! Hope it gets better for you soon!

Whatser that's so organised!! I haven't started yet! I usually blitz it all in one day. Thanks for the reassurance on the disappearing bump! I have my MW appointment tomorrow and hoping she will listen to the heartbeat to settle my nerves!!

LynseyH · 08/11/2016 07:59

Just gets worse, I've now got the sickness bug too. I knew I'd get it but it still sucks. Feel bloody awful!!

Ants that's great news!!! Xxbec congrats on your boy! We are having a boy too.... got my 20 week scan on Friday and soooo nervous.

Can't think about shopping yet although I have calculated I'll be around 26 /27 weeks by Christmas sales so hopefully get some bargains.

Can someone post a pic of the slings you talk about?

theAntsareMyFriends · 08/11/2016 12:23

Thank you to everyone for your well wished.

Lynsey so sorry the bug got you. I can't imagine having a vomiting bug and being pregnant. I've avoided it so far so think I'm out of the woods. I hope it passes really quickly.

jpeg I think its quite normal for movements to come and go as it really depends where the baby is lying. Also your bump can often go down in the second trimester. Mine did with DS. The first bump is just bloating really and then when it comes back its the baby. Mine has gone completely and I've got a flatter stomach than pre-pregnancy (which isn't very flat at all!).

I'm still feeling really nauseous but that could be linked to having high HCG levels which was why I tested so high for Downs Syndrome. I'm managing to eat a little more though which is good as I've lost over half a stone and want to try to avoid losing any more at the moment.

Don't mention the C word. I'm so disorganised and I make most of my presents so most of my family end up with a Christmas-ish present which they get some time before new year. I have no idea what I'm doing this year and haven't even started.

Sah1987 · 08/11/2016 12:24

Well I called up again this morning, but called the EPU instead of X-ray reception,
Apparently they entered my form that my next scan would be 20 weeks not 12 weeks so didn't book me one in, earliest they can do is Tuesday next week.

So at least I can have all of my tests etc done, one weight off my mind.

This cold has honestly knocked me for 6, anyone else struggling? Colds really don't normally bother me and I never take anything but feeling so poorly, it's awful!
How's everyone else doing?

Whatsername17 · 08/11/2016 12:50

This is mine and I love it:

A little boy - how exciting! Congratulations!
Hope you feel better soon Lynsey!

theAntsareMyFriends · 08/11/2016 14:00

purple I didn't see your post before I posted. Congratulations on getting to 20weeks and on the little boy.

I've got a Moby wrap which is a bit like whatsers one and this one:
Manduca

I've tried lots of carriers as I used to volunteer at a sling library and this was the one I loved the most.

MoonlightMojitos · 08/11/2016 17:45

Wow fair play whatsername!!! So organised!

dino glad to hear you're feeling better. No, I literally don't know anyone who's had a baby! I'm the first of my friends etc, so I'm clueless! My nephew was born at another hospital (gloucester - I'm in bristol) I'm not sure if this was because the ones round here were full (it was a few years ago before the local MLU opened which I know has helped with demand) or if it was because he was prem so she had to go there I'm not sure, I've never really asked. My mum had me at the hospital I've chosen but that was 27 years ago lol.

highhopes hope you're doing well except the nausea? Mine was really bad until about 8 weeks and has been so much better since (now on and off instead of constant) so fx for you it eases up soon. I'm not sure if it's just because I've got in the routine of never getting hungry though as that made it so much worse. I took it as a good sign too though :)

sah that's so bad, good job you chased it up and managed to get hold of them! Glad it's all booked in now and not long to go!

user1478555177 · 08/11/2016 17:58

Hi ladies
Not sure if this is the right post to add to but I though I'd give it a go as I'm new to this.
Well to start off I've had 3 mc since April this year. First mc happened in April about 5 wks pg, then got pg again in May & mc again about 4.5 wks, had period in June & then fell again in July. Was all going well, had 12 wk scan and baby seemed healthy & active. Had midwife appt at 15w4d& she couldn't find heartbeat. Had a scan at 16wks and that revealed that baby had no heartbeat and had prob died around 14 wks. I had to go into hosp & have tablets to go into labour & give birth to it as they said I was to far gone to have a d&c.
Has anyone else experienced mc as frequent as these & did you go onto to have a healthy baby after.
Also I want to try again but not sure when I can physically as the hosp has told me nothing about the aftercare.
Any advice please x

jpeg28 · 08/11/2016 18:09

user I'm so sorry to hear of your losses, what a horrible tough year you have had. I have only had one MC so don't have advice for you except that there is an amazing thread called TTC after miscarriage which I was on after mine, it was so helpful to get advice and just to share the whole TTC journey with other people who understand. doleritedinosaur · 08/11/2016 18:17

Congratulations purple, that's so excited and you've reached 20 weeks!
Slings wise I used this one for first 5 months and I watched youtube videos for different holds, there's a new born one which is handy when they're so small and its good to feed in too. I also picked it up secondhand off ebay so a lot cheaper.
<a class="break-all" href="//www.amazon.co.uk/d/045/Caboo-146977-NCT-Carrier-Stormy-Sea/B015CY83X4/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1478628305&sr=1-2&keywords=caboo+close+carrier" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">caboo

I used the Ergo 360 from 5 months which is front facing, normal, hip and on your back and DS still fits in it now at 20 months. It really helped spread DS's weight and I love it.

If you can get to sling library purple you can see and try out loads of different slings as well as get advice.

Aw moonlight you'll be fine honestly when they arrive, all my friend's mum's gave me so much advice and came to my baby shower which was lovely. Now the rest are slowly catching up.

Glad you got booked in Sah, quite a mistake to make.

I'm currently crouched down in DS's room as he fell asleep downstairs but not upstairs. Managed to wash the sling and pram carrycot stuff today so a little bit more there now, really need to make a list of what needs doing.
Hope everyone has a good evening, I'm hoping to sleep properly tonight, random awakenings are not much fun at the moment.

LuckyinOctober · 08/11/2016 19:41

Just wanted to add my congratulations too Purple, both on reaching the twenty week milestone and on having a boy x

jpeg28 · 08/11/2016 20:00

Congrats purple on 20 weeks!!

Has anyone read a good hypnobirthing book? I'm thinking of reading one instead of doing the classes just to see what I think of it. Any suggestions welcome!

Feeling rubbish today... I'm off to bed...

Naschkatze · 08/11/2016 21:03

Jpeg I'm reading Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher. I really like it so far; it's making a lot of sense to me.

purpleviolet1 · 09/11/2016 07:27

Thank you so much ladies. I'll be 20 weeks on Friday when I have the scan.

I still feel anxious and don't feel like I can start buying yet, and maybe not until I'm in the third trimester. Am I being silly? I think it's a self preservation thing...

I am beginning to feel a little excited but just feel scared of being excited Sad after two miscarriages this year and losing mil it's just been a terrible year.

doleritedinosaur · 09/11/2016 11:14

Good luck for the scan on Friday, purple you're not being silly, its how you're dealing with what has happened and its not like all baby things will suddenly disappear. You can even wait until baby is born for most things, so do whatever you're comfortable with.
& I know the excitement and fear, I feel that with every week I'm that bit closer to a baby in my arms then terrified it won't actually happen and more scared as I was positive for that moment.

jpeg I'm reading Mindful hypnobirthing as Nasch above and Hypnobirthing the Mongan Method. I am preferring the Mindful one more and the exercises are definitely helping for appointments. Its still helpful even though its likely I'll end up with a C-section so I'm really pleased with it. Borrowed them from my library but may buy Mindful to make notes in.

Hope everyone is doing okay today. About to walk DS around town to get him down for his nap after I change out of these awful pregnancy jeans which don't have a belt loop. Anyone else hate maternity jeans? I got bored of leggings.

Macauley · 09/11/2016 12:17

Good luck for Friday purple. I bought my first baby thing straight after my 20 week scan from Tesco (just a set of bibs and scratch mits). I have been unstoppable since then!

Miami81 · 09/11/2016 14:11

Good luck for Friday purple.
Any views on hair dying and painting from anyone. Some advice seems to say wait until 12 weeks. I am only 5 wks and really need my hair done.
Oh and 12 weeks for me will be after Xmas so my hair will be a show if I don't do something........

jpeg28 · 09/11/2016 15:29

Thanks for the book tips Nasch and dolerite!

Good luck for Friday purple... it's completely understandable not buying anything... I still feel really anxious.

I'm just waiting for my midwife appointment, I'm 17+1 and really hope she listens to the heartbeat. I got here 50 mins early as my pregnancy brain thought my appointment was at a different time!!

Miami I think the evidence is unclear in terms of hair dye... I haven't had mine done but I think I will before xmas. Maybe just discuss it with the hairdresser and see if you can sit near a window so you don't inhale the fumes!!

Alb1 · 09/11/2016 16:26

Good luck in Friday purple and there's nothing wrong with not buying anything until your ready, we won't be buying anything this time round, we're just going to save money in a pot and then DH will go out and buy the essentials once the Baby is here.

Had a scan today as the place near by had them half price (so only £20 a scan) and baby is still there measuring 8+1, feeling sooooo sick now, happy to have morning sickness but will be glad when it passes!

LuckyinOctober · 09/11/2016 20:24

How did your appointment go Jpeg?

miami I checked and didn't come across any reliable research evidence which would argue against hair dye as safe - most stuff I read said the chemicals aren't that toxic and in small quantities so as long as someone else does the dying for you and you're in a well ventilated area there's no real risk.

Hypnotherapy book-wise I'm reading Effective Birth Preparation by Maggie Howell which was recommended in my pregnancy yoga class, it gives background info to hypnobirthing, birth stories from women who've used the approach and exercises to try. I particularly like the inspiring quotes about birth and children which are on each page.

MoonlightMojitos · 09/11/2016 21:15

Ooh sling talk! I'm really interested in them, thinking that's probably what I'll use the most first few months rather than a pram but no idea where to start! (And still have 6 months to find out more anyway haha)

Nothing much to report from me. Had my flu jab yesterday, arm is really sore but no problems apart from that. miami l had my hair dyed at the weekend, I couldn't find any research that it is harmful (at my usual hairdressers, well ventilated) but I usually have it bleached which is itchy at the best of times and I know you can be a lot more sensitive when pregnant so went for a dye instead with the excuse of trying something a but darker for the winter!

Thanks dino :) hoping I'll get some good advice on the way and have plenty of time for research anyway! I've found mumsnet so invaluable already without people to talk to irl. Also planning on doing some nct classes and baby groups when baby is here so I can meet some mum friends for support etc.

Fx for friday purple and glad all was ok alb!

highhopes are you still around? How you getting on?

Not much to report from me, 10 weeks tomorrow (I'm sticking to my dates for now until the 12 week scan when I'll readjust although the scan last week puts me at 10+3 today a few days ahead). Had awful stomach ache this eve but thinking it's wind so just taken some Rennies. Also downloaded a sample of the hypnobirthing book by Sophie Fletcher to see how I get on before buying it as I'm very sceptical but have heard so many good things.

FlourishingMrs · 09/11/2016 21:53

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I have not posted or read any posts but thought I should encourage you, our baby was born last Friday at 37 weeks by Section. Despite the single artery he weighed 3.1KG just over 6 pounds I think.

We are both well. Please stay positive and listen to your intuition, I went in due to reduced movement and abdominal pains. Although I was not in labour as I was only 2-3cm dilated. After monitoring they decided to move the delivery date forward.

Good luck everyone and thank you Xxxbec for the support through this and the last pregnancy.

Whatsername17 · 09/11/2016 22:34

Congratulations flourishing! Lovely news and 6ln oscar a good weight considering he was early x
