Lyndsey don't feel bad if you end up sticking to formula feeding, you just have to do what feels right. I breastfed DS for the first 2 days and then switched to formula as my nipples were bleeding and every time he latched on I just felt rage, it was such a strange feeling but it just made me feel angry, and then I felt guilty for weeks for giving it up. There are obvious proven benefits from breastfeeding but DS is so strong and healthy, worst he's ever had is a mild cold so far. I plan to try breastfeeding again next time but be better prepared with some cream and nipple shields and start expressing as soon as the milk comes in but then just go with the flow and do what feels right at the time.

7+4 and feeling so sick all the time, ibs is making me miserable too, happy to be feeling ill tho as its hopefully a good sign!

Bloopbleep · 05/11/2016 12:16

Congratulations dietcoke - fingers crossed it works out for you :)

jpeg28 · 05/11/2016 13:40

Afternoon everyone... just catching up.

Lynsey sorry to hear you have a stinking cold... hope you get better soon! And having your kids ill too! Must be a nightmare. In terms of feeding I think that sounds like a great idea. I'm planning on breast feeding and expressing so my OH can do some feeds too!! But there is nothing wrong with formula? If I am unable to bf then I'll be happy to formula feed.

I've had such a lovely morning... OH is on a stag do so had the bed to myself last night, amazing! Then got up early and walked to get my flu jab, met a friend for coffee and then went to pregnancy Pilates. I've already walked my 10000 steps today and it's only lunch time! Fireworks tonight too! Hopefully the rain will stay away. Plus I am sure I felt the baby move with my hand! Is it too early for that? I'm 16+4

welcome dietcoke!

LynseyH · 05/11/2016 14:31

Thank you everyone for being so reassuring. I really do appreciate all of your feedback as I don't have anyone I can ask in the real world!
I'll keep an open mind for now and gather more information before a definite decision is made and go from there.
Must admit I've been in a stinking mood today with all these illnesses, I know the kids can't help it but they are still driving me mad! My eldest and me have mowed the grass between us and got rid of about 3 tonnes of leaves whilst tag teaming to keep an eye on the little ones. Think the fresh air helped abit to clear my head and it always cheers me up when I look at my nice, tidy garden!

Sorry to hear your feeling rough alb you're not far off feeling better though! It really is horrid so I hope you find some relief.
jpeg sounds like a lovely morning. Enjoy the fireworks!
newshoes It's not daft to plan, it may not work out that way but if it does, it's good to have a plan in place.
dino your always so helpful so just wanted to say thank you personally!
Now I'm off to read about this week's stages for baby and me. 26+1, so close now!

My bargainous pushchair arrived and I'm really pleased with it. I will be carrying her in a sling most of the time as that worked really well with dd. But for times when I need a pushchair this one is great. The main difference between this and my super expensive one is the wheels - they are plastic rather than tyre type. Not sure it makes much difference to be honest! Dh likes it because it is lightweight and tall. I'm not sure I'll bother with the car seat as I have dd's expensive one still but it's good to have a spare. £130 well spent I think.

Ooh whatsername looks very good for a bargain! I am impressed and now slightly more reassured that we won't be having to look at £500+ for something!

Sorry you're still feeling so crappy lynsey :( that must be so hard with poorly little ones when all you want to do is rest.

alb I also struggle with ibs which had been clear recently but seems to be flaring up again now. I've been so bloated last few days, really painful and some diahorrea. Hard for me to know if it is ibs again or just general pregnancy rubbish. I do generally avoid bread though as it doesn't agree with me whereas now it's my go to snack (toast) when I'm nauseous so that probably doesn't help. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope everyone else is well today. Sounds like a lovely day jpeg!

I had horrendous sickness this morning out of nowhere! I've been alot better for the last week but was sick 3 or 4 times after waking up today, eurgh. On the plus side went shopping with my mum (just to a local town) and managed to get a week-by week pregnancy book for £1 from charity shop which is really good! It's even got a shopping list, birth options, first weeks after birth etc so great for a first timer like me. Also got 2 pregnancy exercise dvds so fx they're are ok (not had a go yet).

Whatsername17 · 05/11/2016 20:30

I'm really happy with it. The pushchair attachment for 6 months plus is good too. After my expensive one broke I'd never spend that much money again. Sil had an expensive mamas and papas one that broke really quickly too. For her 2nd she bought an ICandy which she really likes and still uses.

doleritedinosaur · 05/11/2016 23:46

Aw Whatser, pram looks lovely, well done on a bargain. Have you got much left to get?

Well done on the exercise Jpeg, bet you're feeling great for it.

Hope the sickness passes soon Moonlight, hope the exercise DVD's are useful. I'm enjoying youtube for mine. Have you heard of Wonder Weeks? That's an app or a book which has shockingly been on par for DS. Every time he has a leap, the app tells me and it fits with his actual mood. Something to look into if you like week by week.

So OH says to me tonight he doesn't want me going in to that hospital, they've currently got a norovirus outbreak and where he works, they tell him all the horror stories.
I stupidly then look at the latest CQC report from last week for the Maternity ward, its still amber and the stuff they highlighted is worrying.
Its bad enough I have to get him to body block them from giving the baby formula and all hospitals constantly lose the milk/colustrum they've brought with them.
Other nearest hospital is actually worse so that's out.

I wish I had never looked. They've already made simple admin errors and not listened to me, this doesn't help.

Stupid, stupid anxiety.

Sorry don't know what I'm trying to say here just, I'm so annoyed about my placenta then I feel guilty with all the losses.

LynseyH · 06/11/2016 08:08

Aw isn't it exciting with a new pram! Makes you want things to speed up!
Can't wait to get mine but holding off til we've completed Christmas shopping. Prioritising costs at the moment.
So, remember I listed all those illnesses my household has had in the last week or so? Well we can now add suspected norovirus! Partner and one son both were sick in the night. They've been banished to the sofas and the rest of us are camping out upstairs! I really don't want it and don't want youngest to get it cos that means cleaning it up from where he spontaneously does it 😷 the others all can get to the bathroom.
This house has seen enough illnesses this last week to last us all winter 😖

Feeling crappy today, got a headache runny nose, a cough that's making me gag, and just feeling low.
I don't feel pregnant I feel rotten.
Also still not had my scan date through, which is pants as I'm 12 weeks Wed and I want to check everything's ok!!

XxBecxX · 07/11/2016 10:09

Morning ladies, I can't believe it but I'm having a boy!!!
I'm so excited but it still doesn't feel real for some reason.
Can't believe I'm going to have 2 daughters and 4 sons rofl😁😁

I've picked a nice crib but I'm somewhat struggling with prams, I'm a bit of a nutter as I generally have bought 2 prams the last few pregnancies, one for walking and one for the car but I'm just not sure, i like the bugaboo donkey and the bebecar ip op, what do you girls prefer xxx

A boy! Congratulations bec.

I have a DS and desperately wanted another little boy. The only good thing to come out of the miscarriages and the Down Syndrome scare is that I don't care what I get so long as its healthy.

I got good news back on Friday. Our risk for Down Syndrome is 1 in a million. Relieved doesn't event cover the way I'm feeling. I'm walking on air. I'd made myself detach for the whole of the first 12 weeks to protect myself and then when we had bad news I tried to detach again as I didn't know what we would end up doing so its weird actually feeling I can get excited about it all.

I've been looking at this thread most days even though I didn't feel able to post and its nice seeing people get excited about pushchairs and nursery stuff. My pushchair is my second least used baby item (probably used about 10 times) after the cot (used once for 10minutes). I've got a Britax B-Smart which I really rate although my DS didn't like it, an old Mclaren which I can't use from birth and a Petit Star Zukoo which can be used from birth and is good for the car. My most used baby item was the Manduca carrier so I'll probably stick with that but might treat myself to a Connecta as they are so pretty.

Sorry to everyone who is feeling rotten. I've just got over a cold and tonsillitis and now DS has gone down with a vomiting bug. I've been up every hour from 8pm-4am. I feel terrible and I don't know how I managed waking every hour with a newborn. I guess I'd better get used it it!

Alb1 · 07/11/2016 11:33

ants that's brilliant news, so relieved for you! Hope your DS feels better soon.

bec congratulations on a boy Smile

I feel even worse today, sooo dizzy like I've been spun around on a ride for hours, it's rubbish!

XxBecxX · 07/11/2016 14:12

Thanks ants and I'm laffin about the 10 minute crib lol
That's amazing news on your stats.

Alb you poor luv, that's your ears that are making you dizzy, you might have an infection brewing xx

LynseyH · 07/11/2016 15:59

Congratulations *xxbec on your boy! I think the blue buggy is gorgeous!!
ants that's great news! I know the pain your feeling with the sickness bug. After I posted yesterday about one son and partner having it, my eldest then got it later on. Just me and youngest left to go.
I know I won't avoid it as they are so contagious. Take care and use lots of antibacterial, especially on door handles and taps!
alb be very careful whilst feeling dizzy. Take your time getting up from sitting. Agree with bec it's usually ear related, sounds just how my mum described vertigo too Confused
Nothing more to report this end, apart from I had my head done today haha. I escaped the sick house (held my phone anxiously for about 3 hours) and felt better havering nice hair. Already booked in for Christmas too, even though I won't really be going anywhere!

For anyone feeling abit low, something as simple as having your hair done really does make a difference. I feel like me again Smile wonder if I'll still be saying that when the bug gets me?!

Thanks for the recommendation dino I'll check it out! I do find it helps me alot seeing the day by day/week by week updates and knowing what's going on in there. Especially being my first I have no clue at all! I'm also the first of my friends etc to have a baby so I'm really going in blind and love learning everything. I know in reality nothing can prepare me for when baby actually comes but I'll feel better knowing I've learned all I can! Hope you're feeling a bit less anxious today:( there's always so much to worry about isn't there. I feel the same after reading my area is in the bottom of the country, dreading what mess ups they might make. It wasn't a good start when I saw the Dr before and they didn't even know about my mc, doesn't bode well does it.

Oh lynsey I really hope you manage to avoid it. Bless you!

sah I would definately chase them up if you're at 12 weeks now and not had it through! That's really bad.

Congrats bec!!! I have no idea on prams etc sorry!!!

Congrats ants! That's great news! It'll be so nice for you to relax a bit now and get excited :)!!

jpeg28 · 07/11/2016 17:51

Congrats bec!! I'm starting to think maybe I should find out!!

Ants I've been thinking of you and so happy to read your good news. Sorry to hear you've been unwell though. Hope you and your DS get well soon.

I'm really panicking today... I feel like my bump is smaller and after feeling flutterings on Friday I haven't felt anything since. I'm 16+6... maybe I didn't feel flutterings at all in the first place? I'm so frightened I've had a MMC!!

Sah1987 · 07/11/2016 19:57

I tried to call today and had no response from the three numbers I called to find out.

I'm becoming anxious!!!

LuckyinOctober · 07/11/2016 20:01

Jpeg early flutterings for me were pretty sporadic, I wouldn't let it worry you if you notice the same. I first felt something around 15 weeks-ish but wasn't really convinced until a few weeks later. Now I'm 28 weeks my little one is constantly on the go and makes my whole stomach move with her, so I don't even need to feel her any more I can see her :-)

Congrats on the boy Bec, and hope you all recover soon Lynsey

doleritedinosaur · 07/11/2016 20:06

Evening everyone, hope its a good one.

Jpeg before you get the big bump, maybe after 21 weeks I know with me, even with this one, regular movements were still hard to feel as baby still has places to move and not be felt. But if you are worried, have you had your 16 week midwife appointment for the heartbeat?

Thank you moonlight anxiety has faded a bit, going to sit down with my hypno-birthing book in a bit, but I know I have no choice as the only hospital I would trust is 1.5 hours away and that's too far from OH and DS. Do you know anyone who has used the maternity services? Even though this hospital is in amber, the mum's I know who had their babies there said they cannot fault the staff. So that is comforting and I have a good midwife.
Doctors are usually the ones that are not that great, sounds bad but yes.

I'm exactly the same, with DS I did so much reading, on childbirth, breastfeeding, first few months. Wonder weeks is brilliant as it has what they learn in each leap with personality and relationships but is not a set goal as all babies are different. & I was the first friend to have a baby again, plus we moved but into a good area where I've made mum friends and go to 2-3 groups and swimming every week plus we have a mum's meal out this Friday. So try not to worry as can still meet people going through same stages.

Congratulations Bec, both prams look lovely which is no help!

Hope you don't catch it Lynsey, sounds like you're doing all you can and hope rest of family recovers quickly. Haircut sounds lovely and glad it helped make you feel better.

Aw Ants that's brilliant news! You must be so relieved, wow crib for 10 minutes!

OH has gone to work and the weeping hormones have hit, I cried when DS read to the cat so stuck end of season 2 of Greys.

How is everyone doing in the run up to christmas? Or is it too early to say the C word.

Whatsername17 · 07/11/2016 20:58

Ants - that is brilliant news! And contratulations Bec!
Ive really loved knowing the sex this time around. We didnt find out with dd and only did this time because dd wanted to know. We wont have a third, but if we did I'd find out again. Jpeg - my bumps always 'go down' around the 16 week mark. Its when the bloating/water retention fades and a real bump moves into its place. Try not to worry too much. I've just bought my sling so now all I need to get is the co-sleeper cot, sensor pad monitor and new mattress for the cot. Oh and decorate the nursery! My hospital bag is packed, as is the baby's bag and DD's over night bag. Its still early days but I feel better knowing it is all there if I need it. Two weeks until my 32 week scan to find out if my placenta has moved. Keeping everthing crossed that I can have a normal delivery!

Naschkatze · 07/11/2016 21:32

Ants so pleased to hear this news!

Congratulations Bec! Have fun buying blue!

Whatser that is so organised! Got so much to do still and with the c word fast approaching, it feels like time is going to run out fast. I had my first positive baby dream the other night though, so I think perhaps my subconscious is finally allowing me to feel excited!

Whatsername17 · 07/11/2016 21:42

I'm trying to throw myself into being prepared. I've bought all of dd's Christmas presents. Just got dh and my parents to buy for. All of the kids in the family are done. To be honest, I always start in August as there are so many bargains to be had. I have a little competition with myself to see if I can avoid paying full price for anything! I've saved a fortune this year: I've got everything from dd's list for under £200. Amazon flash sales, Argos 342 and Sainsburys toy sales have been brilliant. I can't wait to do it all for two next year!

doleritedinosaur · 07/11/2016 22:11

Aw Whatser that's so organised, I really hope it has moved for you. I've got 9 weeks until mine but I'm really not holding out much hope.
I'm basically giving myself until then to get ready as worse case scenario is bed rest from 34 weeks. Doing a bit each week though so not too much to at once plus it helps all clothes are organised by age ready to be washed, moses basket is there with everything to be washed, got my sling back and carry cot is being washed tomorrow.
Thing that's everything they need, aside from nappies/pads etc which I can pick up new years.

Sah have you tried the woman's health department of your hospital to find out if you've been booked in for a scan if you can't get hold of your midwife?
