38+1 with dc2. Completely torn between wanting this baby out RIGHT NOW and wanting to wait at least until 1 September. Uncomfortable, hot, tired, can't sleep properly, baby's movements now all uncomfortable at best and physically painful at worst.

And my in laws arrive for that weekend later today. They have been asked not to arrive before 5pm so that I have the day to use as I please without waiting in for them; I would put money on them ringing the bell hours earlier while I'm trying to nap Angry

millie I found out I was pregnant on boxing day! I forgot to buy the tonic water from the shop. Ah well probably a load of rubbish anyway.

I ran around after dd at the park today , running is not easy when you're this pregnant! Dh was laughing at how ridiculous I looked and my dd kept saying "I'm much faster than mummy!" . Went down a slide a couple of times too...

Baby is very very active this evening and then kicks are really painful I keep jumping out of my chair and yelping. Making dh feel on edge I think!

Hoping tonight's the night for some of us!?

Jenjen85 · 03/09/2016 20:43

foxes i found out boxing day too Grin was a HUGE shock for us!b

I walked around town today but nothing. Had a hot bath before, been having some stabby pains in my bum but baby has been very active this evening too. Just had salt and pepper chicken bit of spice to help things along i hope. I had tonic water in but i think it had been open for too long and tasted weird probably wouldn't have worked anyway lol

Fingers crossed for all of us that are hanging on in there

MillieMoodle · 03/09/2016 20:53

I did a test on Christmas Eve and it was negative, so drank loads on Christmas Day and Boxing Day BlushThen did a test the day after, fully expecting another negative and there was a positive! We'd been trying for a year and I was getting used to disappointment so we were really surprised!

Baby is really active here tonight too. Lots of wriggling and jabbing at me. There's not much room left so some of the movements are quite sharp. I keep moving around suddenly and saying "oooh" but DH isn't taking much notice as I've been huffing and puffing for days!

Let's hope none of us have to wait much longer!

Womenareliketeabags · 03/09/2016 21:22

I had my suspicions I was pregnant on Boxing Day too, I had heart burn and I've only ever had heartburn when I was pregnant with DS. I didn't test until the 29th as I was working long days (13.5 hour shifts) on Boxing Day, 27th and 28th and I want to smoke through them and was too busy to be able to test.

Due date for me is tomorrow.

Jenjen85 · 04/09/2016 05:42

So iv been awake since 4.30 what the hell is this all about?

Think im stressing about not having baby before Wednesday as my DD starts preschool and desperately need baby out before then as dont want to miss her first day Sad

MillieMoodle · 04/09/2016 07:21

Oh no Jen. Hope you managed to get a bit more sleep?

DS is back to school tomorrow and I was hoping the baby would be here by then so his first week isn't too disrupted.

No real signs yet though still. Have been having lots of braxton hicks but have been having them for weeks anyway. Had an ok night's sleep but still waking up every hour or so for a wee! My hips and back are not thanking me for walking round the supermarket yesterday. I seem to have seized up!

Come on babies!

foxessocks · 04/09/2016 08:58

Jen I have the exact same worry except I have until Friday which is dds first day of preschool! I just want either me or dh to be able to take her and pick her up so ideally just not be in labour at that exact moment ! Argh never had these stresses with the first baby! Also I kept waking up at about 5am last week and couldn't get back to sleep but last few days I've managed to sleep until at least 7.30 so maybe it is just a pregnancy thing. Hope you can have a nap later anyway!

Millie I'm actually not aching too much after my run in the park but I'm sure it'll catch up with me later. I also got up for about a zillion wees last night I feel like I'm in the loo more than my bed! At least dh is a bit better now so we aren't fighting over the bathroom. He still isn't eating properly though need to try and build his strength back up before he goes to work tomorrow (or I have the baby?!)

Jenjen85 · 04/09/2016 09:31

Managed to have a nap around 7am on the couch then DD came downstairs at 7.30 to "look afte me" so not had much sleep. Shes off out with my mum in a bit so might try and have another nap later.

Its the not knowing thats stressing me out. Just hoping praying he arrives today or tomorrow or then at least wait until friday so DD has a couple of days at preschool

Jenjen85 · 04/09/2016 11:00

Just decided to go to the Trafford centre to try and walk this baby out Hmm

spacepoodle · 04/09/2016 11:50

Can I join please? 38+1 today with DC1 and have been really grumpy and emotional since Friday. I can't remember the last time I slept for longer than an hour without being woken up by my bladder, carpal tunnel syndrome, the need to turn over or the weird snorting noise I seem to have started doing since pregnant Blush

Spent this morning in bed and going to attempt a long walk this afternoon - will need to map out some public toilets before we set off! I hate going outside now because of all he unwanted bump comments that give me the rage. "Is it twins?!" No. "You look huge!" Thanks. "Good luck, that's going to be a big baby!" Really?

I have an ELCS booked for the 12th but am a bit concerned as it coincides with the junior doctors' strike. Hopefully everything will go to plan Confused

Womenareliketeabags · 04/09/2016 12:09

Due date today! Been for a walk this morning, it's irritated the hell out of my SPD and I'm now in agony but have been getting pinchy feelings in my lower tummy.

foxessocks · 04/09/2016 12:43

Jen I've also been in a shopping centre this morning walking round and round! Just had a KFC which was really good!

Got the tonic water too!

Space welcome! I know the feeling and I've been making a weird snorting noise too it keeps waking me up Blush

Women happy due date fingers crossed for you!

Jenjen85 · 04/09/2016 13:25

Welcome ladies Grin

foxes iv just spent the past 2hrs walking round. Now have a pain in my right thigh Sad. KFC sounds yummy we had a sandwich and cake.

ohidoliketobe · 04/09/2016 13:58

Come on babies! 39+1 for me and for various reasons, this week would be good timing for this baby to decide to make an appearance! Tonight ideally as I have childcare sorted for DS until Thursday..

This one's a girl. Didnt find out with DS so the anticipation feels very different. Still haven't agreed on a name, there are two we both like but each prefers the other slightly more. Have agreed will use them as first and middle but will wait until she's born to decide which way around. Had a bit of a chat in the bath this morning. Granted it was very one sided, but hopefully she'll have taken what I said on board and be getting a move on. It did remind me of when I was in labour with DS just screeching 'getoutgetoutgetout' at one point. Had been very calm and relaxed (despite a few complications) until that point. It was followed by me saying to DH 'Yeah. I cant do this'. Poor man. His face was a picture, starting mumbling that I was doing great and he didn't really think going home was an option at this stage Grin
The midwives just smiled and said 'transition stage'. Very true. The urge to push shortly afterwards was unreal.

Anyway. I digress. Back to this one. Been getting twinges for a few weeks and baby feels very very low, doing that waddle where it looks like you're balancing a watermelon in your pelvis. Which at this stage I suppose we basically are!

Midwife at 38 wk appointment last weds suggested sex, hot curry, pineapple. Which I was surprised at as thought they were all old wife's tales...Had a curry on friday. Nothing. I can't stand the thought of sex. The thought of someone touching me is making my skin crawl (poor DH). So more curries and pineapple planned this week!

MillieMoodle · 04/09/2016 13:58

Welcome space and happy due date women!

We went for a walk round toys r us and an out of town shopping park for a couple of hours this morning. I bought some new trainers as the only shoes I have that fit my poor swollen feet are sandals, and the weather is definitely more autumnal here at the moment. Glad to have something I can wear with socks now!

We've had prawn cocktail wraps for lunch. Got no real plans for this afternoon. Still getting braxton hicks but not much else happening. Can still only walk at a snail's pace. DH is hoping baby arrives today so that he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow!

Dilligufdarling · 04/09/2016 14:25

Hi all!
Fingers crossed all of you due daters Grin
Still feels like mine is aaaaages away. Am 37+1 today.

Oddly my ds's first day at school is quite late. He doesn't start until 15th which is a while off. In theory I've then got 9 days to__ rest prepare before the new one arrives!

foxes glad your DH is on the mend.

Not quite sure how you running people are managing it! Had to "run" for the train on Friday. Literally it was about 15metres and I had to recompose myself on the train as I thought I might cry a bit! Yesterday was severely achey and twingey and I think that was why.

Does anyone else have periods of worrying about the baby's movements? I keep realising (or thinking I've realised) that it's not moved for ages and going to lie down on my left for a while until it wakes up. Is this only me being crazy paranoid or is everyone else doing similar?

Had a dream last night where my MIL (who does have form for ruining surprises) told me that the baby was a boy. I was so upset because I didn't want to know before it was born!

foxessocks · 04/09/2016 15:08

dilli I'm exactly the same with the movement at the moment - I realise o haven't felt him for ages so I start poking my tummy a bit until he kicks then I feel bad I woke him up! It feels like his movements are a bit different now less kicky and more pushing and prodding but still very active in the evening especially.

I've just had a cuddle with my friends 3 day old baby which made me very jealous and quite emotional! I'm hoping the smell of a newborn head might get things moving ?! She also gave me the rest of her raspberry leaf tea so going to have some of that in a minute. And then tonic water later (maybe with some gin?!) .

Sex is definitely not an option for me as dh is not totally better and I really just couldn't be bothered right now anyway. Mind you when I was pregnant with dd we had sex and I woke up having contractions about 6 hours later so could be something to try for those of you without poorly husband's !

Womenareliketeabags · 04/09/2016 16:41

I'm having some jasmine essential oil in my bath tonight. It's meant to help start/make stronger uterine contractions. Seeing as it's due date now I suppose I can start trying it. I want this baby out without being induced. I was induced at 14 days over with DS and was in labour for 2 days before he was born at 16 days over. The whole thing was one hideous experience and something I am determined to avoid this time.

Jenjen85 · 04/09/2016 16:46

dilli im the same too with movement. Cos im overdue im paranoid but i know hes fine in there.

Sex is definitely a no go for me too foxes i think we've only had sex twice possibly three times whilst pregnant as im totally turned off by it but im seriously having to consider having it to get baby out im thinking as a last resort though

Very jealous that you've had newborn cuddles foxes hopefully we will all be gaving newborn cuddles soon

foxessocks · 04/09/2016 17:40

Oh the newborn cuddles were lovely but I did feel like crying! Think I'm a little over emotional!

I also really want to avoid being induced as I won't get my water birth and I didn't get one last time because dd came too quick. I really want the water birth experience this time! Ah well what will be will be.

I've run out of housework to do...!

Oh and raspberry leaf tea is disgusting and after some googling I realise it isn't actually meant to bring on labour just speed it up or something?!

Dilligufdarling · 04/09/2016 18:16

foxes and jen I'm so glad it's not just me! Thank you for the reassurance!
It's definitely slowed on the movement front, but then so have I! Every so often I get a squirm though so am sure it's all ok.

Raspberry leaf tea is meant to help with toning your cervix/uterus muscles so that when labour does start they work more efficiently.
I've not had any this time around but need to get onto it.
If you eat pineapples they need to be freshly chopped from a real pineapple (not tinned) and very ripe. That's something to do with bromelain which is produced in the core part.
Oil of evening primrose is supposed to help too. Some people even use it internally, I did do this last time and went into labour 6 hours later... On the same day though I'd had two whole pineapples, been on a trampoline and had sex.... So haven't a clue really!
Clary sage oil is supposed to be good for stimulating contractions in labour. So much so they advise to not use it before you're full term. Never tried that one though.
I've yet to be convinced re super hot curries. They just gave me even worse heartburn and made me feel sick!

foxessocks · 04/09/2016 18:26

Wow dilli you're more informed than I am thanks for the info! Do you know anything about tonic water though?! Is that worth a try?!

SockQueen · 04/09/2016 18:31

No evidence for curry or pineapple (at least, not in quantities that you could feasibly consume) but apparently sex does help. Not sure I can face it though. I've spent today bouncing on my ball and cleaning, need to clear space in the spare room for the changing table we bought from IKEA yesterday, though I think I'll need DH's help for the actual assembly.

Movements-wise, I've been paranoid ever since I started feeling them! He definitely has days which are more active than others, and if it's a quieter day I quite often have to sit still/lie on left side and wait, just to be sure. Today is a busy day though.

So here's a question: my EDD is on Friday (9th). It's our 5th wedding anniversary on Saturday. I'd quite like to book something nice like a pregnancy-friendly spa day, so that if the baby hasn't arrived, we've got something to look forward to - and who knows, the extra oxytocin from relaxing/massage might get things going! On the other hand, if we had to cancel last minute it would be a lot of money to lose. WWYD?

Dilligufdarling · 04/09/2016 18:33

It comes from going waaaaaay over with DS last time and being desperate to avoid induction! Blush

Never heard of the tonic water one, have had a quick google though and it seems that the quinine in it is supposed to help, but doesn't do much for most people.

A couple of others which I've just remembered:
Nipple stimulation - certainly makes the uterus contract postnatally when the baby feeds and some people think it works prenatal as well.
Also orgasms. Even if "partner" sex is out, these can set off contractions if "self administered" GrinGrin

MillieMoodle · 04/09/2016 18:40

I tried everything to get DS moving when I was pregnant with him. Pineapple (gave me the runs), raspberry leaf tea (I think it's meant to make the contractions more efficient; I did have a reasonably quick active stage), curry (burnt my mouth and gave me the runs!) but I was induced at 11 days over and he arrived at 12 days over.

I am desperate to avoid being induced this time as I really wanted a water birth last time and couldn't have it. Our local birthing centre is like a hotel! Haven't really tried anything this time except walking and a bit of bouncing on my ball; nothing worked last time.

Didn't try sex last time as DS's head was so low it freaked DH out and I think it would have been painful for me. Haven't tried it this time for about the last 4 months either as I haven't felt like it and to be honest I don't think my current hippo-like self is much of a turn on for DH!

Have got everything ready for DS going back to school tomorrow, so will get a few hours to myself in the day time which I'm looking forward to! He's driven me up the wall over the last 4 weeks but I will miss him when he's back at school. Am so glad I'll have almost all the school holidays off for the whole of this school year. Am due to go back to work in June, but am considering whether to take the full year and go back next September instead. Just got to get DH to agree Wink
