38+1 with dc2. Completely torn between wanting this baby out RIGHT NOW and wanting to wait at least until 1 September. Uncomfortable, hot, tired, can't sleep properly, baby's movements now all uncomfortable at best and physically painful at worst.

And my in laws arrive for that weekend later today. They have been asked not to arrive before 5pm so that I have the day to use as I please without waiting in for them; I would put money on them ringing the bell hours earlier while I'm trying to nap Angry

40+6 today. I was so so hopeful that something might happen yesterday after how positive my cervix looked at my sweep but nothing yet. Just been crampy on and off but no real labour.

My mw is on call for home births today so I really would like it to happen today so she can come and deliver baby.

Planning on a walk this morning and then maybe going and getting my mums birthday present seeing as that is now in 4 days and no baby yet!

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 07:39

Morning all

Im now 41+3 and cant believe iv gone this far over. In a last ditch attempt to get this baby out me and DH had sex last night first time in about 6 months Hmmand i was praying id wake up in labour but no such luck. Oh well induction tomorrow so hopefully I'll have a baby by monday.

Sorry your sweep hasnt done anything women i know its hard not to get disheartened (iv had 3) when youve had a few symptoms and a positive sweep.

dilli hope you manage a few naps today. I had a couple of days of waking up really early so can sympathise with you

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 10/09/2016 07:48

40+3. Up since 3am and even when I felt sleepy I couldn't because the baby wouldn't sit still.

Morning all

40+7 today (or 41 weeks, depending on how you say it!). Had a rubbish night's sleep, needed a wee every hour, hips, back and spd all painful when I tried to move or get up. Had a lot of mild cramps which I've still got this morning but don't think it's anything exciting happening as they are pretty much constant rather than coming and going, and annoying rather than painful.

Not got much on today, might try and get the food shopping done so we've got some food in for next week.

Sending baby vibes to you Jen in the hope that your little one is here before tomorrow's induction!

Loobylou873 · 10/09/2016 09:01

Oh ladies, we are all in a pickle aren't we?! This is soooooo frustrating! Had sweep again yesterday and was 2cm and soft (blurrggghhhh) and then had a show and loads of cramps. Loads of bouncing on ball and more cramps, got DH auntie over (she's going to baby sit), went to bed and then everything stopped. Been awake since early hours and now exhausted and feel a bit guilty (which I know us stupid) about getting everyone's hopes up. Come on baby! Thinking of you all xxx

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 09:18

Just got up and can hardly walk. My back is killing and got a pain in my right bum cheek that makes it so painful to walk. My SPD was never this bad with DD. I reckon today will mostly be spent on the couch or bed when DH watches the football. Had to take some painkillers the pains that bad.

Praying that we all have very easy and quick labours after all we have been through

Annarose2014 · 10/09/2016 09:36

Relieved to find everyone as miserable as me!

39 weeks tomorrow and in insane pain with the SPD. It's not even the not being able to walk - though I've been stuck in the house for a week and am going mad - but it's the sharp stabs of excruciating pain whenever you twist wrong. Just now I knelt down to out DS shoes on for a walk with his Daddy and he squirmed and my legs parted too much and I literally saw stars with the pain!

And after they left I was still kneeling down and thought how am I going to get up? So I crawled gingerly over to the stairs and eased myself up onto the first step and got myself upright eventually.

It wasn't this bad last time. Never again! And the worst thing is there's nothing I can do! Can't even take ibuprofen!

Been awake since 3am and DH is very concerned but what can we do? Even if I go for a nap when DS naps, the pain makes it unlikely to let me sleep. Just have to get through the day, that's all.

MillieMoodle · 10/09/2016 10:35

Haha Anna me too! It's nice to know I'm not the only thoroughly fed up pregnant woman out there and that there are a few of us, in the nicest possible way.

I have reached the point where I can't wear anything but dresses as my jeans are too tight around my bump because it's so low down. So of course it's raining today and I will look ridiculous walking around in a summer dress!

The crampy feelings have gone, I think I just needed the loo Blush I have got carpal tunnel in both arms and hands which was awful in the night and which hasn't really eased this lot morning. I had it in one wrist with DS and it took about 6 weeks to go after he was born Shock hoping it goes quicker this time!

I am being a bit short tempered with DS and DH at the moment which I feel guilty about but I just want to be left alone in my misery for a bit! DH has already had his nan and sister on the phone this morning wanting updates on my current condition.

For those who have got induction dates booked, what time do you have to go into hospital?

With DS the hospital took me in at 10pm, started off the process at midnight and then DS was born almost 24 hours later. It meant I got a half decent night's sleep before the contractions started though, as they started around 8am. This time I have to go in at 3pm, so assuming things go a similar way to last time, they'd start me off around 5pm. If contractions start around 8 hours later that would be 1am so I'd be in labour overnight, which would make it an incredibly long day. And if it's like the last time, DH would be sent home at midnight Sad have got the midwife coming on Monday so I will ask her the plan. I won't really be able to sleep in the day on Friday as got to get DS to school etc. Trying not to worry about induction but not succeeding today!

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 10:52

Ah millie i got carpel tunnel in both wrists after i had DD and it was horrible. Mine lasted ages and had to wear splints. It was so painful at times i struggled picking DD up.

I have to be at hospital for 12pm tomorrow so hoping they start me off relatively early. What happens at induction? Im really stressing about it today.

Theres no chance i could walk anywhere today my back is that bad. Secretly hoping its the start of something but i dont think it is.

spacepoodle · 10/09/2016 11:07

Congratulations oh!

Carpel tunnel is such a bastard! It's this that keeps me awake more than anything. I have to change position every hour and do some weird wrist-wriggling before I can get back off to sleep. I can't really grip anymore which makes using cutlery especially fun. I was told not to worry because it usually disappears within 12 months of giving birth Hmm

39 weeks today and enormous. My bloods came back normal so hopefully my severe polyhydramnios is nothing to worry about. Just looking forward to meeting my chunky little chap on Monday now.

My sympathies are with all of you who are overdue. I'm barely coping at 39 weeks so I can't imagine how you're all feeling - pretty bloody miserable, I guess CakeFlowersChocolate

Spotsandstars · 10/09/2016 12:27

Yay a thread I can join! I'm 39+1 and bit desperate for baby to come (until I cam down with stinking cold yesterday). It's a different experience the second time round, no lovely lie ins and date nights with dh! Hoping I won't go over but betting I will as it seems most people do! Just don't wNt to be induced as that was hideous with my first!!!

SockQueen · 10/09/2016 13:09

Jen they will assess your cervix, put you on the monitor etc. If your cervix is unfavourable they may use a gel or pessary to try to "ripen" it; if it's a bit further on they may break your waters as that can get things started. Then later on they may use a drip called Syntocinon to improve/increase contractions. It all takes time though, so expect a lot of waiting around!

As for timing, I have to ring at 8am on the day to see if they have a bed, but they haven't told me when I'd need to go in, I guess it depends how busy they are!

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 13:13

Thanks sock have you been induced before? My midwife said my cervix was partially efaced very soft and stretchy so hoping that they will just break my waters. When are you due to go in?

MillieMoodle · 10/09/2016 14:47

Jen with DS I was monitored for an hour or so and had an internal exam, my cervix was very unfavourable. I had a pessary around 12am (I was 12 days overdue by then) and then they monitored me and did another internal exam around 6am. At that point my cervix was soft but closed. I had another pessary then, and my contractions started about 8am. By midday I was 1cm dilated. They broke my waters around 7pm when I was 4cm. DS arrived just before midnight. I didn't need the drip but I think they were close to putting me on it as I was exhausted and DS was getting tired too. Didn't need any other intervention but did have a second degree tear. Was off my head on gas and air though, that's the bit I'm looking forward to this time! Grin

This time round my cervix was soft but closed on Thursday (5 days over) and have another sweep on Monday when I'll be 9 days over. Hoping cervix will have started to dilate and that I won't need to be induced but even if I do have to be induced, I'm further on already now than I was last time!

Welcome spots!

MillieMoodle · 10/09/2016 16:45

Ah, have just rediscovered the joy of online food shopping. Usually the food shopping takes a good couple of hours out of our weekend and we all hate it. I have just done the shopping online for the first time in about 6 years. Bliss! No tantrums, no stress, took 30 mins. I'm re-converted Grin it has made a very grumpy and very pregnant lady very happy!

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 17:06

millie & sock am i being unrealistic thinking ill have a baby by the end of sunday? Do i need to lower my expectations?Hmm

Iv never tried online shopping i like a nosey round the shop and buy crap new things. We did our food shop yesterday so have lots of nice things in for when we come home. Stocked up on biscuits GrinBiscuit. Having a nice tea tonight as my last meal that i might eat hot for a while.

MillieMoodle · 10/09/2016 17:11

Jen I think they say second babies are a bit quicker so once they get you going it could be pretty quick. My contractions were really irregular all the way through labour with DS. But my active labour, from 4cm to delivery was just under 6 hours. It just took me forever to get to that point!

I am assuming that if I go in to be induced at 3pm on Friday, baby won't be here til Saturday sometime.

Womenareliketeabags · 10/09/2016 17:12

I've spent the day trying to be super busy and not sit around moping that nothing had started since my sweep yesterday. Went into town this morning for a few hours, then came home and took the dog out before going off to my allotment. I've just got home and sat and sobbed I don't think this baby wants to come.

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 17:20

With DD my labour from 3cm to delivery was 5.5hrs so hoping this one is quicker but i did go naturally with waters breaking first. Im feeling anxious as i dont know what to expect or how painful it will be which is silly cos iv done ut before

Ah women iv had a few teary moments this week. How far over are you now? Do you have an induction date?

Womenareliketeabags · 10/09/2016 17:35

Jen I'm 6 days over today and induction isn't booked until 14 days over they wanted it to be at 12 days over but I'm trying my best to avoid it because of being induced with DS due to going overdue too! I just want this baby to come spontaneously. I'm just an emotional wreck this evening. DH has just got me fish and chips to try and cheer me up.

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 18:01

I know how you feel women. I really wanted baby to arrive on his own but iv come to terms that its just not going to happen as ill be 11 days late tomorrow. Fingers crossed something happens for you in the next couple of days before induction as theres still time. For me however my time is almost up Sad

MillieMoodle · 10/09/2016 18:57

Jen I don't have anything to compare it to and obviously everyone is different but I didn't find my labour with DS too bad. It was more tiring than anything and I remember getting annoyed that no-one could tell me when the baby would be here! Pain-wise at the point I felt I needed drugs (other than gas and air, which I had copious amounts of!) it was too late and he was almost here. I am worrying a bit about the pain this time though, nearly 6 years has numbed the memory a bit!!

Women you have my sympathies too Flowers. They are inducing me on Friday, at 13 days over, I was induced at 11 days over with DS. Hoping this one arrives on its own before that though, although not on Wednesday as DH is off to the football in the evening.

SockQueen · 10/09/2016 19:05

No, I've not had an induction before, Jen, this is my first baby - I'm a doctor and work with obstetrics a reasonable bit, so picked up some of it there, plus they gave me a leaflet about it at clinic the other day. I'm afraid if you're going in at midday I'd say it's not enormously likely you'll have the baby by the end of the day, but as Millie said, second babies are often quicker, so fingers crossed things get moving quickly for you!

Having a few more crampy-feeling Braxton Hicks, plus I think I might have lost a bit of mucous plug earlier, though that could have just been residual spotting/discharge from the sweep the other day. It's my wedding anniversary today so we went for afternoon tea, which was very nice, but now I am stuffed full of scones with jam and cream!

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 19:48

Its been 3 years for me millie and iv kind of forgotten what the pain was like. I had gas and air and diamorphine (which was amazing Grin) just desperately dont want to avoid an epidural.

Happy anniversary socks.

I think iv lost a little more plug today and had a few very sharp fanny and bum daggers this evening. Still in quite a bit of discomfort with my SPD too.

Just waiting for my tea to cook and im excited as its pulled pork ha ha. Tonight will consist of x factor and maybe a bar of chocolate for afters GrinChocolate

Jenjen85 · 10/09/2016 19:49
