So I'm almost in my third trimester and with only 3 months to go I have started to set my eyes on the days/weeks after baby arrives. Aside from looking forward to our new bub I'm looking forward to the things I've had to give up!

Are there any foods or drinks you're missing that you would plan to have after the baby comes? I've told DH that he has to take me on a steak dinner (I miss having them medium rare) or for seafood sushi!

Of course this has to be after:

  • I am physically recovered to be out and about and no longer in danger of peeing my pants in public
  • we find somewhere baby friendly or can con my sister to babysit for an afternoon/evening

Last time I was craving Pate on toast for the last 8 weeks or so, this time (7 days past DD) and there is no food I have missed.

However about 3 days before I got my positive result we bought a bottle of Mince Pie Martini for Christmas - and it taunts me as didn't have any at Christmas - out of season but I can't wait to try it!!!

Most food which is banned I tend to avoid due to constant diets although have missed a decent Medium/Rare steak, think this time being number 2 we haven't been out to eat as much as we did last time so not been annoyed by the things I can't have!

Would love a Mr Whippy though

Pate and cold chewy toast then runny eggs and soldiers!!!!

becciandbump · 29/07/2016 20:26

Poached eggs for definite and also a Brie bacon and cranberry sandwich

MalbecAndLindt · 29/07/2016 20:28

I'm looking forward to either brie or camembert stuffed with garlic and rosemary and some fancy bread, followed by a rare filet steak all washed down with a lovely glass of white wine, or my favourite Malbec.

Annnnd, my dad''s poached eggs on toast. I know eggs are now deemed safe but they make me want to vom Envy

milpool · 29/07/2016 20:36

If you're missing runny eggs then please eat them (if you're in the UK). They're safe, I promise, look

I will be necking a massive black coffee though. For some reason I just really go off it, it's not even a heartburn thing Sad

Feefeefs · 29/07/2016 20:42

You are allowed have sushi! Even raw fish sushi! Hope I've just made someone's day! I could survive pregnancy without it!

Mr whippy also fine on NHS website.

Would love as much coffee as I can drink and prosecco!

Feefeefs · 29/07/2016 20:43

*couldn't survive

coldcanary · 29/07/2016 20:47

All 3 times it was a curry washed down with champagne Grin
I had horrendous heartburn during my pregnancies and basically grew 3 babies on toast and yoghurt so after the birth I wanted a blow out!

EreniTheFrog · 29/07/2016 21:11

Stilton. Only about 32 weeks to go..

summeraupair · 29/07/2016 21:23

I've still been having the occasional rare steak, bit of sushi, eggs Benedict... but I've quite horrendously gone off tea. With 12 weeks to go I'm hoping that a nice cuppa on the postnatal ward will be once again welcomed by my tastebuds!

stealthbanana · 29/07/2016 21:27

I've only been avoiding pâté and undercooked meat and limiting my alcohol so probably toast with loads of smooth chicken live pâté with a big glass of champagne.

It would be sushi except that I've been mainlining it throughout pregnancy - FYI shop bought sushi fish all has to be frozen in the UK so it's perfectly safe.

Ditto eggs - they're fine!

stealthbanana · 29/07/2016 21:28

ereni Stilton is fine. Even the NHS says so!

swelchphr · 29/07/2016 21:28

Lasagna and wine

kiki22 · 29/07/2016 21:31

I have a bottle of grey goose chillin already for after birth. I'm missing my 30th as my due date is the day after it so I will be indulging in a glass after my home birth to celebrate Grin

Blueberry234 · 29/07/2016 21:36

Tea and toast both times - best meal ever!
Once home it was Stilton and crackers with a large glass of wine

BalancingStick · 29/07/2016 21:49

The toast was crap - was so disappointed. But DH bought me sushi and champagne which was wonderful.

Junosmum · 29/07/2016 21:50

My husband bought pate and crackers in to hospital. It was awesome!

Dixiechick17 · 29/07/2016 22:16

My dad cooked me a rare steak for when I got home from hospital, it was absolutely amazing! That coupled with a glass of red and I was in heaven

MadrigalElectromotive · 29/07/2016 22:29

I had curry and champagne. It was amazing after my hyperemesis pregnancy! Smile

LillianFullStop · 29/07/2016 22:43

I can eat runny egg?! Does this mean I can also have mayo/aoili and tiramisu??!!

you should hear me in restaurants - is it homemade mayo? Do they use raw egg? is the egg pasturised? 10 minutes later - can I have it without the mayo please.

what's meant to be in the mr whippy that is bad?

OP posts:
milpool · 29/07/2016 22:46

Yep. Mayo etc is fine.

Though I believe there is some debate around eggs that aren't lion stamped.

frikadela01 · 29/07/2016 22:48

I ate pretty much everything on the banned list during my pregnancy except liver and pate.

I was really looking forward to the tea and toast after giving birth having heard it described by multiple people as the food of the gods. As it turns out I was trying to breast feed when it was brought in so it went cold and wasn't all that nice. I had a big Mac on the way home which was heavenly after 3 days of hospital food. The fact I went to bed without heartburn for the first time in months was also amazing.

Snoodleberry · 29/07/2016 22:49

You can buy pasteurised goats cheese in sainsburys....it's in a little tub and is amazing on toast.....!

Pigeonpost · 29/07/2016 22:50

I never paid any attention to the banned list. But I will never forget my first meal after having DS3. I had a planned home birth and he was born at 7am. By 7.30 both the midwife and I were tucking into the most amazing scrambled eggs (from our own hens) on top of DH's homemade sourdough. It was literally the best thing I've ever eaten. Middle class as fuck mind you...

milpool · 29/07/2016 22:52

frikadela the toast I was given in hospital was shit. And then I puked everywhere anyway...
