Thanks I'm really surprised as it happened very quickly. Must only be four or five weeks at most. A couple of questions I wonder if anyone can help with? I have an underactive thyroid which is well controlled with levothyroxine but when I asked my gp about levels of the drug he said wait till booking in appointment and check levels then. Anyone have any experience of pregnancy and interactive thyroid?

teabagsmummy · 22/07/2016 12:57

Highlight of the day was taking my ds to subway at his request at vomiting into the finding dory bag his kids meal came in, luckily he'd removed his meal 1st!
Got midwife booking appointment at my house this afternoon

Rugby01 · 23/07/2016 23:57

Hi all! How was the booking in apt, teabags? What a picture you paint of your subway experience! Hope you're feeling better?

No experience of under active thyroids, nocheese - hope your GP has good advice.

How is everyone else?

We had 20 week scan and all normal - phew! Another 20 weeks to go.... Starting to feel pretty fat now!

thereisnocheese · 24/07/2016 11:06

Wow, lots of news. How was booking in appt? Hope that the morning sickness has eased off. I missed the lady who is pregnant with twins, congratulations but that must feel quite daunting. I have a feeling that is going to happen to me too. I'm very early got my 11 week scan date which will be 12 September. Not very far away. Makes it all seems more real. I haven't yet had a booking in app yet, I expect I'll be under consultant care as I have the thyroid condition and also elcs last time due to huge baby (4.7 kg!) . Congratulations on 20 week scan such a relief when all normal. So far I'm feeling good. Still managing to train a few times a week and pretending that a health kick is why I'm off the booze. But I could murder a ice cold glass of dry white wine right now. Mmm. Otherwise no sickness yet, just extreme tiredness.

thereisnocheese · 24/07/2016 11:07

Hope everyone else doing good!

Rugby01 · 24/07/2016 13:24

Hi - I could also murder a cool glass of white wine. 😕 Was at a wedding last night and i realised how much j usually drink at occasions like that! Oops.

Rugby01 · 24/07/2016 13:24

But the abstinence is all worth it 🙂

Beegee3 · 24/07/2016 20:18

Hello everyone, can I join nervously please? Found out today that I am pregnant! I am 43 and I am 4 weeks ( so just missed period...3 positive tests later ) 🙄 x

mrsknickers · 24/07/2016 20:25

I'm pregnant at 42 with baby number 5. I figure that life is pretty manic anyway so in for a penny in for a pound!

Does anyone know whether we need to be seen by a midwife or doctor earlier if over 40 or when any additional scans might need to be done? I'm only 7 weeks so still early stages and haven't contacted doctor yet

teabagsmummy · 24/07/2016 20:35

Hi welcome to all the newbies. Booking in went well the midwife was lovely and knows all my history (8 Mmc) so she understands my anxiousness. Managed to not vomit today but still feeling yuck Confused.
It's my birthday tomorrow I'll be 42 I'm 11 weeks now I have 12 week scan on 2nd Aug not to long to wait now

thereisnocheese · 24/07/2016 20:46

Congrats Beegee and Mrs knickers! Wow baby number 5! That's a whole lot of kids to sort out! I've not any clue about extra scans or appointments, I self referred on line and just got a scan date but no booking in date yet.

Backhometothenorth · 24/07/2016 21:37

Hi mrsknickers - I just went to the gp and midwife as normal to start with and was then offered an extra scan at 32 weeks when I was about 26 weeks (I'm 43 and 34 weeks preggers now) so don't think you need to do anything differently.

Congrats everyone CakeFlowers

Rugby01 · 25/07/2016 08:22

Welcome mesknickers and beegee - congratulations! beegee - I think I remember you from the other thread! So pleased for you. Wonderful news. Not sure if you remember me. Currently 21 weeks. So glad to see you here!

In terms of treatment for over 40s, the only difference for me seems to be that I get consultant-led care and they will induce at 40weeks.

teabags - sorry you're still feeling yuck. I really hope it passes soon.

Anyone got a partner whose full of sympathy and telling ou to put feet up? Mine has done his back in so I'm the one doing everything at the moment!?!

Beegee3 · 25/07/2016 09:17

Hi rugby yes I remember you! So glad to see you and that everything is going well! I am a nervous new member Hmm x

Rugby01 · 25/07/2016 17:26

beegee - have everything crossed for you and sending you good vibes.

Womble75 · 25/07/2016 22:28

Hi everyone.
I'm 41 and just found out I'm pregnant Confused to be honest we had given up trying due to 4 miscarriages in the past 2 years. I have a dd who is 3 1/2. I'm also hypothyroid which was the reason for my miscarriages (undiagnosed until they happened) and have low ferritin from a pph and the miscarriages.
Soooo cautiously extremely happy! I've already booked in for early scan in a few weeks given my history, and got my booking in appt in a few weeks. Already had my thyroxine upped by my GP with fortnight my blood tests to come to monitor.
Feeling optimistic this time and embracing the nausea as I'm trying to see it as a positive sign! Already prepared for being consultant led. Adamant I'm not telling anyone until at least the 10 week scan but am happy I've found somewhere where I can talk to others in the same boat! Smile

thereisnocheese · 26/07/2016 05:40

Oh congrats womble, you must be very pleased. And I'm sorry for your losses. That is interesting 're thyroid meds.I have underactive thyroid but only on 25 mg levothroxine daily, and is well controlled. My gp said wait till booking in appointment and get bloods checked then. I have booking in appointment next week so hopefully all can be checked then and remedial action can be taken. I suspect I will have to increase medication based on Dr Google research. I know I'm finding it very hard to keep to myself but its so early that I want to make sure all viable. I'm also in process of putting our place up for sale and buying a new place. Typical second baby nesting behaviour! We have a baby and two large dogs and a large husband in a tiny two bed terraced cottage, so feel a bit cramped!

thriftyblue2 · 26/07/2016 18:25

Hello, can I join? I am 43 and just found out I am pregnant. I am utterly terrified. Total panic including about telling my DH, telling friends. telling work. I know I am so fortunate in so many ways and I thought I really wanted a third DC but this is ... a shock. Congratulations to all you other ladies over 40 for being here!

Rugby01 · 26/07/2016 21:00

Welcome womble and thrifty - very happy for you both!

Womble75 · 26/07/2016 21:13

Thank you Smile
Thereisnocheese my dr upped it as soon as I found out from 125 to 150. Some gps are clueless about this and I've changed gps to find one who actually seems to care and supports my condition which is half the battle. Baby gets all its thyroid hormones from the mother so it needs to be monitored and extra prescribed to make sure you are still getting enough for you. but I'm not sure if they are being extra careful given my history. He has told me I will be having forthrightly blood tests to monitor.
Still biting my tongue - only DH and my 3 year old DD know. I had to explain it to her as she has a habit of bouncing around on me. She now sits and talks to my belly lol. Already told me it's a boy.

thereisnocheese · 27/07/2016 08:34

Right thanks for advice on thyroid. I have booking in app on Monday so bloods will be taken then. Been bone tired this week but not sure if it's thyroid or pregnancy. hopefully get good advice next week. :-)

Beegee3 · 02/08/2016 19:06

Hello ladies x how are you all doing today? X

mrsknickers · 02/08/2016 19:20

Hi Beegee, I don't know about everyone else but the nausea I'm suffering is awful. On the plus side though i look like I've had a boob job (they are huge) I Just wish it didn't come with the 'has she put on a bit of weight' inbetweeny look.

Beegee3 · 02/08/2016 19:28

Hi mrsknickers oh dear, I have started to get the beginnings of the nausea, I know it is getting worse. I am already 34 g in the boob department so I don't especially look forward to more in that department.
I went to my gp yesterday and told him the news, he gave me the numbers for the midwife team and told me to ring straight away. So I have a midwife coming to my house tomorrow morning for my first appointment! X

Womble75 · 02/08/2016 21:53

My nausea is creeping in too. But in the middle of the night. And don't get me started on my boobs. They have gone up a cup size and are as tender as anything. Everything seems to be pulling and stretching and my jeans are already tight. I know they say second and subsequent pregnancies things change quicker but give me a break!
I have been trying to keep calm but still anxious a bit (4mc in 18 months) but hoping my 7 week scan Monday will alleviate a few of my fears.
Apart from that I'm ok. Still not really sunk in 100 % yet!
