Welcome Scottish. That must have been a shock /surprise / congrats - glad all Going well

Bluebird126 · 01/09/2016 15:56

Hi everyone

Hope you are all having a good day! Managed coffee with a friend this morning and then around 20 mins sorting the garage ... and that's me shattered!

So Rugby your trust will allow you to go to 40 weeks before inducing? Funny how it varies from place to place. I saw the consultant anaesthetist this week and she was pretty supportive of an elective cs which I'm leaning more and more towards. She said that labour is hard work at any age but would potentially be especially hard at 45. Plus, she confirmed my fears that inducing at 39 weeks could well lead to instruments etc / emcs. Joy! Feeling very nervous about the whole business tbh, even though I'm thrilled of course that this has happened....

scottishsmiler · 01/09/2016 21:42

Thanks all for the lovely welcomeSmile everyone

I've been umming and awing about NCT classes. I'm a keen yogic so had more or less decided to do the hospital antenatal classes and pregnancy yoga/hypnobirthing.
Have heard mixed reports about NCT and the class local to me for early December births is already full.

Should I reconsider?

Bluebird- I'm surprised you're being offered an elective c section. Is this your first too?

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/09/2016 16:19

Mine won't let me go past 40. Will prob be induced 39w

Have 12/13w scan 19th sept and letter for obstetrics app as well day after but going to ring and see if can have on same day

You would think departments speak to each other or see on system that I'm there Monday so organise app then. Not day after

thereisnocheese · 12/09/2016 12:34

Just back from 12 week scan and it showed an empty gestational sac. So basically no baby. Have consultant appointment on Friday so I guess will be making arrangements for removing this. Sad but doesn't look like a viable pregnancy for me. Some things just aren't meant to be. Hope you are all doing well.

mrsknickers · 12/09/2016 14:23

So sorry to hear about your news thereisnocheese. I hope you are ok. Good luck with the upcoming appointment and I hope you get the answers you are looking for FlowersFlowers

Womble75 · 12/09/2016 18:22

I'm so sorry thereisnocheese. Flowers
This happened to me last time at my scan.
I hope your appointment gives you some answers.
Please feel free to PM if you want to talk. Take care of yourself.

thereisnocheese · 12/09/2016 19:05

Thanks ladies, just wasn't meant to be this time I guess... Very sad. Thanks Womble, I'm still utterly dumbfounded. Have arranged to wfh this week whilst I try to handle my emotions, but my boss has been fab. Just waiting for the inevitable to happen now. Not a nice feeling!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/09/2016 22:08

cheese I'm so sorry to read your sad news 💐💐💐💐

IAteSomeofthePies · 13/09/2016 14:28

I'm so sorry to read your terrible news, thereisnocheese. Flowers

Can I cautiously join the thread? I'm 44, expecting DC2 in May. I just hit 6weeks today, having spent the past two expecting bad news every time I wipe. I had a previous m/c so I'm not really feeling confident about this pregnancy yet. I have just managed to overcome my superstition enough to fill in the online booking referral form, so this seems the next logical step.

Womble75 · 16/09/2016 15:20

Thereisnocheese just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you today. Hope things went as well as they can do. Flowers

thereisnocheese · 16/09/2016 18:43

Thanks Womble and everyone. It's been a week of trials and tribulations as I'm sure you can imagine. After a lot of faffing around on Thursday, my local maternity unit still wanted me to wait till Monday for another scan to confirm it and schedule op on Tuesday. I wasn't very happy about that And luckily my work private health covered the procedure. So I saw a Dr on Thursday evening and he found the fetus with no heartbeat immediately on sonagram. So he very kindly arranged my op this morning. So mentally I can move on now. And try again in a few months. I've also arranged a review with an endocrinologist regarding my hypothyroidism so I can be as sure as I can my condition is well managed. Whilst this is obviously not the outcome I was hoping for, I can at least now move forward. Thanks to everyone for kind words and I wish you all the very best with your pregnancies. You never know. I might be back here again in a few months! Smile with love and thanks cheese

Womble75 · 16/09/2016 20:00

Thereisnocheese take care of yourself.
If you want to know how my gp has been treating me / managing my hypothyroidism please feel free to PM when you are feeling up to it. Or even to offload I don't mind. Just from someone who has been where you are now.
I'm glad they have not kept you waiting any longer.

Bluebird126 · 16/09/2016 20:08

Thereisnocheese Flowers xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/09/2016 22:25

No words cheese. Apart from it sucks :(

Glad for your sake you found a doctor who did the op for you today rather then have to wait 3/4days over the weekend

I hope you will be back on this thread very soon xx

Alibaba2 · 17/09/2016 18:55

Hi all,

Apologies for gatecrashing this thread. I hang out on the Conception board but just want to hear some positive stories.

I'm 41 next month and have been ttc since May when I had a MC (the pg was unplanned).

Now I'm desperate to conceive and trying all supplements under the sun.

How many of you conceived naturally and how long were you ttc?

I know we've not been trying long but the clock is ticking and I just need some reassurance that it can happen.

Cheese, sorry you've had bad news and hope you recover quickly.

Womble75 · 17/09/2016 19:35

Hi Ali
I'm 41 and conceived naturally once we'd given up hope of having another.
I had my first DD at 37 and had 4 mc since, 1 quite severe which ended in being blue lighted to hospital. After mc number 4 was diagnosed severely hypothyroid which was the reason for the mc's
Was actually waiting to go on the pill to sort my heavy Periods when I found out Confused
I've always been taking folic acid and a multi vit and that's all.
Due end March. 12 week scan Monday. Had a 7 week reassurance scan also due to history.
Was weird the minute I put getting pregnant again out of my head that was it. Any ways welcome to the group Smile

Alibaba2 · 17/09/2016 19:46

Thanks Womble, good to hear (but sorry you had a hard ride on the way).

When did you start ttc#2?

It's funny about the giving up trying thing. We were casually trying last year (although stupidly dtd after ov)! We gave up when I turned 40.

Alibaba2 · 17/09/2016 19:53

And good luck for Monday!

Arborea · 18/09/2016 09:56

Hi Ali, I conceived both of mine naturally but it took 2 - 3 years each time. I was a couple of weeks away from seeing a consultant to start IVF the first time (age 37). Second time round we had decided that we wouldn't pursue assisted fertility and I discovered I was expecting again shortly after my 40th birthday.

What worked for us oddly enough was letting go of the idea that we were actively trying and monitoring cycles etc.

Good luck!

Bluebird126 · 18/09/2016 19:38

Hi Ali

I came off the pill at 42, conceived naturally at 44 and am now 34 weeks with my first baby at the age of 45. So there is hope! I took folic acid, stayed at a healthy weight and ate a broadly healthy diet. Did not obsess or stress about it, believing it would happen or it wouldn't and luckily it did. Good luck and positive vibes Smile

Alibaba2 · 18/09/2016 19:57

Thanks all of you. These are the kinds of stories I need to hear. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2016 21:02

No natural conception here. 10yrs ttc and finally got preg on 5th private ivf

Also due end of March and have 12w scan tomorrow

4th scan as ivf so had 5w to confirm a sac - 7w with heartbeat 💓 - 10w reassurance scan as 43 /ivf/first baby

Hope you conceive naturally. A friend did - actually 2. One got to 40 never wanting kids all the time I've known her since 16. Then at 40 got the urge and preg within 2mth

Other was almost 45 and thought was menpause. Wasn't really wanting kids and found out was 5mth preg. So it can happen

Alibaba2 · 18/09/2016 21:24

Thanks Blondes, and good luck tomorrow!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2016 12:04

All ok with 12w scan. So good to see heart beating again and saw eyes nose mouth ears. 2 arms. 2 legs. All looks good

Had a lovely nurse who showed and explained us what everything was and placenta and measurements etc

Back of neck showed low risk of downs but waiting for blood test to confirm 100%. Wouidnt change a thing but just means DF and I would be prepared more if higher risk
