How many weeks are you missclarke? Xx

HopefulKate1980 · 12/07/2016 20:52

Sounds totally totally fine to me. Most people get 1-2 at 18 dpo so 2-3 is great. Please try not to worry. Have you had HCG done?

MissClarke86 · 12/07/2016 21:37

I'm presuming I'm 5+1. My LMP was a chemical pregnancy and I ovulated really late after that, so I've dated it as OV day plus 2 weeks.

I know I'm being silly,I've just got it into my head that my hormone levels aren't high enough to support a pregnancy (baby stopped developing at 6 weeks last time, and I've never really had symtpoms.)

MissClarke86 · 12/07/2016 21:38

No HCG tests. I'm trying to avoid the hassle because I have to ring on the day to get a GP appointment (which will involve time off work) and have to have bloods taken at the hospital (two more times off work). I'm entitled to an early scan at the EPU but wanted to get that 3+ before I really took it seriously and rang to book a scan.

Naschkatze · 12/07/2016 21:45

HopefulKate- do you know whether HCG is worth it once you get to 7/8 weeks? Or will it start to plateau naturally anyway?
My GP still hasn't got back to me after telling in a phone appt last week that she didn't know if she could order blood HCG tests Hmm

I really wanted to have a set done before a scan so I could be slightly more mentally prepared for it. (At least I might know if it was going nowhere.)
Do you think it's worth continuing to chase (got fobbed off by receptionist today) or just wait for scan next week?

HopefulKate1980 · 12/07/2016 21:59

Missclarke - I am sure it is absolutely fine. It is impossible not to worry and expect what has happened before to happen again, but I am sure it will be fine. When is your scan? I had a panic about Clearblue digital tests this week and posted here about them but was very rightly told to put them in the bin and forget about POAS!

Nasch - I don't know I'm afraid. The reason they are testing mine is because I am under a recurrent MC clinic but they did say they'll stop taking them when I have a scan. The minute you see a heartbeat (god pray I / we do) there is no need to chart HCG. I am sorry I can't help. I think they do plateau around 9-10 weeks. Does that help? Maybe not.

xx

LynseyH5 · 12/07/2016 22:00

Evening everyone.
Got to admit I find the hcg stuff all quite baffling. I've never had the tests for it. I guess that's because my mcs were obvious from the scans.
Is anyone else suffering from spots? My face is breaking out all over the place and never had it before. Also my hair gets greasy super quick too. Driving me mad as I mostly look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards right now anyway so add on gross hair and spots and I'm feeling pretty hideous!

Naschkatze · 12/07/2016 22:10

Thanks Kate.

I've definitely had my fair share of HCG tests, spent months of fortnightly ones after the molar. Hoping then that it would fall. Ironic now that I'm desperate to see a significant rise!
I'm going to chase GP and maybe ask the Dr we booked private scan with if it will show anything. I'm really nervous about going to the scan with no idea what might be happening.

Lynsey Sorry you're suffering - it's for a good cause! My skin is usually pretty bad but has got better in the last few weeks strangely. Likewise with my usually greasy hair. (Dry shampoo is your friend.) Something I wasn't expecting at all!

Macauley · 12/07/2016 22:39

My skin is awful right now. Thank god for a good highlighter and foundation. People keep saying I look really well which is a huge endorsement of Mac make up.

Anyhoo, hi everyone I wrote a massive individual reply to everyone up thread about dreams, jelly, welcoming all the newbies, the inspirational strength of butterfly and hugs to luckybut the internet ate it.

I'm on my week countdown to 12 week scan and I'm terrified. DH been out tonight so obviously ive been googling everything I shouldnt. He has threatend to turn the wifi off which I think would be a great idea. I've also got bad trapped wind which isn't helping my mind tricks.

So going to take a short Internet break for the sake of my anxiety. Hopefully be back again next week. Take care everyone Smile

LynseyH5 · 12/07/2016 22:47

The old wives tales state that bad skin means your expecting a girl (she apparently steals your beauty!!) But if your glowing with healthy hair, it's a boy. I wonder who made this stuff up?!
Guess it is fun to guess as it takes away the worry for a minute at least. To be honest if this baby is a little sticky one, I'll deal with the bad skin and crap hair! Think I used too much dry shampoo as my hair looked grey after I tried it a few years back! Might invest in some better quality of make up though, thank you for the heads up macauley. Sorry to see your leaving us for a bit but thankfully it's for sanity reasons and nothing more sinister. We'll keep your seat warm 😘

CocklesandMussels · 13/07/2016 08:46

Hi all I'm just catching up. Butterfly wow you are amazing. I can't begin to imagine what you've been through. I will be keeping everything crossed for you this time. Flowers

Lynsey my skin was gross with DD and the same again this time. Dry, grey, peeling and spotty. I forked out an absolute fortune on a facial peel from Space NK - it was by elemental herbology. For me it was worth it just to feel a little pampered and less like my entire body was falling apart. They gave me a free sample to try first, if you have a branch near you it may be worth asking if they'll give you a freebie!

Coming up to 23 weeks here, reflux has started and nausea is back unfortunately. No vomiting though, and nowhere near as bad as it was before. I have another scan at the end of next week. In one way it's reassuring having extra scans, in another it just adds stress leading up to each one. I'm still convinced each time that one of them will have no heartbeat. I might relax a bit after they are born (or maybe when they turn 18).
Phew, long post, have a good day everyone.

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 13/07/2016 09:58

Gawd cockles I think having an 18 year old will be v alarming! I remember what a naive clueless little thing I was then, but willful and legally "adult". I reckon about age 5-10 is the golden years and then probably less worrying again after about 25 Grin

My face is ok but my hands have shrivelled and gone dry and peely. I wondered if it could be because usually I eat loads of nuts and fish and take fish oil supplements and all that has gone by the wayside in favour of toast, cheese sarnies and potatoes. Missing lots of good oils I guess.
Sorry you feel sick again though, that is depressing. I know exactly what you mean about the love/hate relationship with scans. A blessing and a massive stress in equal measure.

Mac sorry you are feeling so stressed and fragile, completely understand needing to take a breather. Everything crossed for you, see you soon x

No experience of HCG bloods but I do hope that those that need them can get them and they show good things. Am I right in thinking their purpose is to gauge progress/viability of a pregnancy in the period where it is too early to tell from a scan? If so hopefully your scan next week will tell you all the good things you want to hear Nasch.

11+3 now, time is going very slowly. My "bump" is huge by the evening but I think it is mainly poo as I am, ahem, "struggling" in that department. Damnit.

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 13/07/2016 09:58

PS we need a new thread soon, can someone volunteer to get it started?

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 15:10

I can do it tonight.

I just wanted to tell you guys something that will PROVE that Clearblue digital tests are misleading. I did a test this morning, 2-3 weeks, I panicked. They are supposed to give 3+ over 2000 I think. Then I got some blood tests back from this morning and they are over 5000!!!!!

Hope it is some comfort. It was for me!

Xx

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 15:40

Sorry I didn't explain that v well!! Basically by 6 weeks I should be getting 3+ so when I got 2-3 this morning I panicked but my HCG tests prove its all bollocks as they are 5000 today.

Xx

Whatsername17 · 13/07/2016 15:59

I had my NHS scan today. All was well and baby is due on the 20th of January making me 12+5. The 2nd trimester starts Friday! I was convinced the rug would be pulled from underneath me today. I felt like something would go wrong. I cried because the two cash machines in my village were out of order so I could get cash to buy photos. My anxiety decided that meant I didn't need cash because I wouldn't get photos because everything was about to come crashing down. When I got there, the machine to buy the photo voucher took card payments! I actually didn't know what to do with myself when it was good news. It didnt sink in for ages today. I can't quite believe it. I need to sort myself out and try to enjoy this now. I'm a crazy person!

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 16:13

Congratulations!!! Great news. Xx

Whatser, huge congratulations. So pleased it went well today!

Butterfly, yes I was hoping to know that it was a progressing pregnancy and not molar again from the bloods. I'm still being monitored by Charing Cross (oops) and they sent back my urine results today. 3 weeks ago when I found out I was pregnant levels were 1235 last Friday they were 125,147. Urine not as accurate as blood but I'm really hoping this is good and they're not now too high! Seem to be in the right range for where I think I am. The things we worry about!

LynseyH5 · 13/07/2016 20:15

Yay whatser great news!! I do the same thing and take things as a sign so your not alone! But least it didn't mean a single thing and all is well. So happy for you!! 😆

lulubella4 · 10/04/2019 13:48

Hello everyone,
So great to see you come together for something like this. It helps to read the stories of other women.

I have a 17 month old. Total surprise. Easy pregnancy, didn't even worry about anything like this. Since November I've had 3 miscarriages (5, 6 and 6 weeks). My period is due tomorrow but I already know I'm pregnant again (when you've been pregnant 5 times you kind of get a handle on the feeling 😂🤪). But I'm just so worried about miscarrying. Each time I feel less excited about the pregnancy and more anxious for what might happen.

At what point should I be tested for a problem? I'm worried I should've made an appointment before this but the doctor just told me 'bad luck, these things happen'
