Hi, I'm bored, sat on mumsnet or googling every symptom and trump. I'm 37+4 and it is my third and final. I know I should be enjoying every last kick and lightning bolt to the cervix, just feeling it is quite a big mountain to climb. Dd's were 40+3 and 40+ 6 and this is a boy. How is everyone else doing? WHAT are you doing? I am busy grumping at dh and pinteresting healthy post natal things whilst eating Easter eggs...

OP posts:

Della - apologies, I'm not 19 days over (my consultant would be climbing the walls if I was, he seems petrified of me going to term) I was more shocked that you'd been 19 days over. I'm reasonably patient but that would tip me over the edge.

Am feeling very nauseous today. I don't think this is a sign of anything, other, than bad luck/timing, but thought I'd share my woe with you all.

How's everyone passing the time until labour begins? I'm working my way through watching House (which is perhaps not the best idea given I'll soon be going to a hospital!)

InFrance2014 · 05/04/2016 11:49

Mild complaints here, tummy button so sensitive and sore, there's just no room left (and I had a VERY deep 'innie' before), bump wasn't this big last pregnancy! How on earth another 2-3 weeks growth is possible before 41w I don't know.

I really miss the nice relaxed maternity leave from 1st time round. This time, no job at the moment, but still have huge amounts of work to try and get finished before life goes mental!

LBOCS2 · 05/04/2016 12:12

Mine too infrance - it feels like I have a hernia or something; my insides are not supposed to stick that far out! I'm a week over where I went last time AND I'm bigger this time around so I'm definitely noticing it more.

I keep getting one or two random pains then it going away. It's extremely annoying. My next MW appt is on Monday, I think I'm going to ask for a sweep then and see what they say - I'll be 40+2.

waxweasel · 05/04/2016 12:51

Sorry to hear you're all suffering - namaste, the hip pain does sound a lot like the SPD pain I get at night. Apparently a memory foam mattress topper helps, or sleeping on top of a sleeping bag (both for cushioning and because it is slippery so less friction on your hips when you roll over). But hopefully it's a sign and you won't have much longer to suffer!

DD is in nursery and I am doing NOTHING today! Might try and make some headway on the blanket I'm knitting for the baby, but that's about it.

My DH made me laugh last night - he suggested we go for a nice family lunch at a new tapas bar round the corner on the weekend, if the baby hasn't arrived. I was a bit hormonal and said I can't go anywhere because I'm afraid of my waters going in an embarrassing fashion in public. He tried to reassure me that nobody would notice, then said quite seriously 'and if they did, I'd just tell them I'd wet myself so they thought it was me'. KEEPER!

I also love how that seemed like the logical solution to both of us, and not blaming it on the toddler who'd be sat with us...

fedupofpeppa · 05/04/2016 12:54

Waxweasel you just made me spit out my drink laughing. Love that solution! I have been carrying a towel in my boot in case I need to mop up due to waters. Last time they went pretty spectacularly but I was at home so was fine.

Shirkingfromhome · 05/04/2016 13:50

Still. Fucking. Pregnant. Tomorrow is eviction day. 14 days is long enough.

My waters didn't go last time (ds was born in his little bubble) so it hasn't even crossed my mind this time. Thanks for bringing it up waxweasal . What happens if you're out on your own? Nonchalant denial or default crying?

Sorry for all of you with aches and pains. I've got a pregnancy pillow that put in between my knees and under my bump. It helps but I do get really hot not helped by my toddler sleeping on my head

Epsom salt baths have really helped this time round too with back and hip pain but check with your midwife before you use them.

Cake and Brew - help yourselves. Smile

ComeLuckyApril · 05/04/2016 14:15

My hip pain is luckily only one side, but going down the thigh so I hobble about the house with a stick. Not getting much done really. Does seem to hurt less if I keep it moving but then that's not very pleasant either.

Very very bored now. I've been watching OBEM, jealous of all the people on it for having gone into labour. Slept well for a change though!

waxweasel · 05/04/2016 14:54

I think I'd go with crying and running away if I was on my own😳 Trying to avoid it being an issue by not leaving the house!! DD1 was induced and they broke my waters so no experience of them going naturally...

Shirking, have you tried sex to get the baby out? I'm so desperate that's what I'm trying next. Me and my sexy flight socks for varicose veins. Lucky DH

fedupofpeppa · 05/04/2016 15:21

Last night I ate pineapple and spicy jalapeños. No luck yet. Been walking a fair bit today but not feeling anything.

Shirkingfromhome · 05/04/2016 15:32

Waxweasal yes. It's as romantic and glamorous as you'd think. Thankfully DH is very obliging under the circumstances. I'm not sure I would be Grin

waxweasel · 05/04/2016 15:40

Oh joy. I can't wait 😬

I have been told that eating dates actually has some scientific basis as a way of getting babies out. Apparently you need to eat 6 a day, so I've been eating 12 😊

proudmom135 · 05/04/2016 16:01

Wow! Isn't that too much waxweasel? Smile

Dellabob123 · 05/04/2016 16:05

Dates and sex for me thenSmile
Sorry shirking that it's over 14 days, I guess it's induction tomorrow?

I was induced last time and they gave me double the pessary as they didn't want me to go over any longer. Which meant shear fucking agony of contractions and my waters shot out luckily whilst having a wee with my dh holding a sick tray try catch the pain vomit. Jeez. No time for pride at all!

Joy, wonder what will happen this time....

waxweasel · 05/04/2016 16:40

That sounds horrific dellabob!!

12 dates is a lot, yes. I don't even really like them. And nothing is happening!! I've done a lot of birth ball bouncing today but all it does is make me need a poo. Am now walking to nursery and getting a lot of BH, so clearly walking is a possible option, but sadly I'm too lazy to walk waddle far.

emmac3616 · 05/04/2016 17:05

I would be desperate for an eviction ordinarily but unfortunately after the 24hours I've had we've bad a change of plan... Now need baby to stay in a few days (sob) due to fact my 2yr old has developed a virus, uncontrollable fever, vomiting in his sleep, delirious etc. Just what I need! I am going to have to resort to a big glass of fizz and a lot of cake or chocolate... This, 2 weeks after he had chicken pox...

It's so bad it's hilarious!!! Any advice much appreciated?!!! I just need to keep reminding myself that this WILL end... just maybe not as soon as I would have liked!!! 39+5 today.... to be fair, DS was 40+4 anyway so I have been FAR too optimistic in expecting anything to happen so far!! :-(

I have made my 4th cake in 1.5 weeks today... my friends are most concerned as I NEVER cook, let alone BAKE! :-)

LBOCS2 · 05/04/2016 17:08

Oh no! Towels under him whether he's awake or asleep - saves all the bed changing and scrubbing from unexpected voms. Also, alternate calpol and Calprofen to keep his temp under control - DD is always sicker when she's got a temp. Poor baby :(

I baked two cakes today. It didn't help at all with my plans to clear my house but it did solve the lack of cake problem we've been having.

Is anyone else getting one (or two) contraction like twinge which then trails off into nothing? I've been having them for days.

Shirkingfromhome · 05/04/2016 17:35

Yep, induction tomorrow. Was meant to be Monday but they'd double booked. It's outpatient so I can come home after rather than spend three days in hospital bored. I didn't mind my induction last time but I'm not having any more so I'm planning to take full advantage of the drugs they have on offer Grin

Dellabob123 · 05/04/2016 18:04

emma that's awful at the best of times, hope it's not a long lasting virus, you'll be double knackered.
lboc twinges sounds promising. I'd love to be having those. Also, how are you all managing to bake? I get up, have breakfast and then can't move off my backside for 2 hours min!

shirking good luck for tomorrow, and lovely to be an outpatient. If I get to induction stage Again, I plan on insisting on going home too.
Just been shopping and forgot the dates. Damn. Sex it is then.

LBOCS2 · 05/04/2016 18:22

della, if I sit down I seize up - so I'm staying in bed a little longer than usual half the morning, pottering about, baking etc, then sitting down with cake and coffee and staying on the sofa with my book for the remainder of the afternoon - until I get too sore and then I'm moving onto my ball. Only works on days where DD is at nursery though!

InFrance2014 · 05/04/2016 18:41

Bravo to all those planning on shagging to move things along, we did that last time but this time just too knackered and its not feeling 'nice' down there either.

For epic late-pregnancy-induced brain madness, how about this: was thinking/worrying about not producing any colostrum yet, because I did for weeks last time. Then caught myself wondering if this means I might not be pregnant after all Hmm

thegauntlet · 06/04/2016 03:56

LEG cramp hell when i do too much at the moment. I have found a solution; eat all the petit filous and come on here at 3 am! Had to laugh at the image of sex wearing suppot stockings! am I the only one that feels quite bovine whilst dtd at the moment? reminiscent of the conception as I stuck my butt in the air trying to keep all the valuable prostaglandin, i mean sperm in. Tmi??!!! (grin)

Dh cried like a baby watching OBEM and he set up the pram today and pumped up the tires. I think he might finally have come to terms with number 3!

So sorry about emma the virus, do you have family close? both my girls had it just before the holidays and I couldn't cope or be sympathetic after a few nights of washing and crying, work and a big belly. My mum came to stay!

shirking are you being induced today? are you wanting to be? hope everything goes really well, so exciting!

LBOCS2 · 06/04/2016 04:17

Three contractions woke me up and have completely disappeared now. Bastard things.

emmac3616 · 06/04/2016 08:41

thegauntlet good point on family - my Mum was actually here yesterday to help which made a big difference as he was hysterical in the night and wouldn't settle, screaming and deliriously babbling nonsense - he adores her so ended up in bed with her (singing her happy birthday at 3am)!!! Poor thing!!! Shes had to go now though, though I think he is improving... hopefully!!!

LBOCS2 that must be SO frustrating! I am fed up that I get lots of BH when I am active and NOTHING when resting... i just feel like its never going to happen!!!! Contractions strong enough to wake you up MUST be a good sign though, surely?! I am sending you positive thoughts!

Dellabob123 · 06/04/2016 11:44

Any new babies today?
Nothing from me.
Just ate half a packet of chocolate fingers and discussed with dh if I should get induced at the weekend! Obviously all positive thoughts of spontaneous labour out the window. Do you think some pma might actually help or will it just depress me when I have to go for that induction again?

Oh well, maybe dtd last night might have done something.....

lboc sorry about the contractions...hope they mean good stuff coming your way soon

waxweasel · 06/04/2016 12:07

Oh emma that sounds awful - what shit timing! Is he any better today? Hope you're bearing up and the baby stays put until you're all well shot of the virus.

Good luck for the induction today shirking! Can't wait to hear your baby news 😊

Nothing moving here and I'm feeling ragey today. DH keeps calling me from work 'to keep me company' but actually just to pass on various bits of life admin for me to do. All really annoying stuff like 'find a window cleaner to come out tomorrow' and 'phone the council about our parking permits' that entail lots of being kept on hold and talking to idiots. Aaaargh!!! Sex last night has done sweet FA to shift this baby. And there are workmen in the house today (as a result of DH's bloody list of life admin) and they are PISSING ME OFF. I just want to lie on the sofa and eat chocolate and mope.
