Hi, I'm bored, sat on mumsnet or googling every symptom and trump. I'm 37+4 and it is my third and final. I know I should be enjoying every last kick and lightning bolt to the cervix, just feeling it is quite a big mountain to climb. Dd's were 40+3 and 40+ 6 and this is a boy. How is everyone else doing? WHAT are you doing? I am busy grumping at dh and pinteresting healthy post natal things whilst eating Easter eggs...

Glad everything was okay lilly, that sounds a bit scary. Fingers crossed things progress and you're enjoying newborn cuddles soon.

emmac3616 · 30/03/2016 19:11

Well dellabob123 I feel better that someone else is in the same position... Crossing fingers for us both!

Chattymummyhere · 30/03/2016 19:31

Had a little girl 7.6lbs it was all pretty quick once we got there.

I had rang for the Homebirth team about 45mintues before I ended up ringing normal delivery suite and the stupid lady on the phone told me my contractions where not good enough to send the midwifes out (even when they where under a minute apart) she told me to call back in 1-2hours, started having some bleeding so rang normal delivery suite who tried to get the Homebirth team out to find out they had just gone to someone else but I could go into the midwife led unit and use the pool and have a "fast" discharge without ever having to go onto ward.

Got there around 7am and was checked and told I was 6cm but easily stretchable to 7-8cm so it shouldn't take long, hopped straight into the pool and within a couple of contractions could feel she had fully engaged and was moving towards the outside world, got asked if a student could watch/help I said ok and it was her first water birth within a few moments of her entering the room I was pushing. Recorded labour at hospital is something like 48minutes as they write it from once they check you. Got away with no damage despite her coming out very fast I loved the water so much though even thought the gas and air was sat there I didn't end up using it witch really shocked the student.

My contractions never got proper regular and never do, my actual Homebirth midwife is not happy to hear that when I first rang I was told to wait even when I explained how I labour considering she had said before she was more than happy for me to end up with her out for Braxton hicks rather than not get my Homebirth. I'm so tired though as not slept since 8am yesterday.

Squaffle · 30/03/2016 19:40

How awful Chatty... glad she got here safe and sound though, and hope whoever told you that your contractions weren't good enough has been spoken to!

Exciting times for you, lilly! Hope you get to meet your little one soon x

namaste30 · 30/03/2016 19:45

You are an absolute hero chatty! Horrible that the midwives are so overstretched that you basically got fobbed off and not listened too... Sounds very familiar to my Home birth where they buggered off. I am so impressed with you! You managed transition en route to the hospital! Get some sleep! 7 lb 6 lovely!! Xx

I'm still awake she's a poop machine she's already cleared out all her tar poops got though 6 poop nappies already today she loves her food but is also quite mucous filled due to the water birth and fast birth, so she's just thrown up all over dh's side of the bed.

It is very sad that care is so shocking I have pointed it out to the midwifes I had today and to my Homebirth midwife who is the one doing my postnatal care anyway, I must say those who treated/looked after me today where fab and very nice infact I got offered mc Donald's and all sorts as I hadn't eaten for so long and I was running on no sleep while waiting for discharge.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 30/03/2016 22:53

Wow that's awful chatty. Sounds like you did amazingly in less than ideal circumstances, but you shouldn't have to put up with care like that. Hope the MW who told you they wouldn't send the homebirth MW out to you when you needed her is being spoken to about her actions.

Hope you manage to get some rest tonight and your little one is doing well.

LittleTalks · 31/03/2016 12:25

Chatty - I'm glad at least they were apologetic but it is terrible that they're so short staffed that this should be happening. I'm glad the feeding (and pooing!) is all going well for you.

Any news from anybody else (I'm going to throttle the next person that asks me if I have any news, like I just forgot to mention it!)? Lily any progress after your sweep?

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 13:20

Nothing going on here at 40+8. Aiming for an April baby instead now, I think!

Shirkingfromhome · 31/03/2016 13:43

Indomitable are you booked in for an induction now? I'm in on Monday if tomorrow's sweep does naff all like Tuesday's. I hope our babies are this chilled once they get here!

Whatapavlova · 31/03/2016 13:58

Nothing happening here either :( Sweep next Tues at 40+1. Here's to April babies! Except my birthday is Monday so ideally not then :)

LittleTalks · 31/03/2016 13:59

Wellllll, my waters just went so maybe there's still a chance of a March baby...

Squaffle · 31/03/2016 14:32

Yay LittleTalks! How exciting and good luck!

41 weeks today, no sign of anything, DP thinks it'd be funny to have an April Fool... not sure I agree but April it is nonetheless!

chanchan86 · 31/03/2016 14:49

due dat 26/03/2016 still nothing yet bored of waiting x

Dolly80 · 31/03/2016 14:50

Good luck Littletalks

I've got a sweep this afternoon and am feeling nervous - any tips? I'm already worried that I can't really remember what the start of labour is like (that may be a blessing and a curse!)

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 15:11

Same here shirking. Got to ring up for a sweep tomorrow, then induction on Monday. Joy.

I've already decided that this one is "laid back" as opposed to stubborn like DS1.

Ooh, Little! Exciting times for you!

Dolly, I can't remember what it was like either. But I remember it was very clearly IT when it did start. So I'm working on the principle that I'm not sure if these BHs are something, they're probably not.

My sweep on Wednesday was fine. Waaaay less uncomfortable/traumatic than a smear test. I was surprised!

I've just managed to make the (usually neglected) upstairs of my house visiting-midwife ready. With DH & DS at home there's no chance for the downstairs! But my confinement-quarters are now beautiful! Maybe it'll help...?

emmac3616 · 31/03/2016 15:24

Soo... had a show after yesterday's sweep (this morning) and some god awful leg cramps which stop me walking, but are totally irregular and only when I'm moving not resting... so I am thinking it probably hasn't worked... I think the show probably came away because of the sweep... so ready for the baby to come out now!!!

Currently bouncing on the ball.. which got me to thinking.... what is bouncing on the ball actually doing for me? Is it just about getting the baby into the right position or has it got some other benefit? Any thoughts guys?

Thanks and good luck all!

confusedlilly · 31/03/2016 15:35

Baby Dexter arrived this morning at 6.17am after waking up at 1.30am to my waters going.

He weighs in at a huge 10lb 13 1/2oz. Amazing water birth with just Gas & air. I don't know I did it.

We have just arrived home and hoping to relax, he seems very chilled atm fingers crossed X

emmac3616 · 31/03/2016 15:38

Congratulations confusedlilly that sounds AWESOME! well done you! :-)

Shirkingfromhome · 31/03/2016 15:40

Good luck with the sweep dolly I can't remember what the start of labour was like either. I'm sure it'll all come flooding back!

emmac I think bouncing on the ball has the same effect as a jumperoo (or jumperpoo as it was renamed in our house). I think it gets your bowels moving (which is meant to stimulate labour) and pushes the baby head against your cervix if it's low enough. This is a total guess though!

Good luck littletalks how exciting!

Dolly80 · 31/03/2016 15:46

Congratulations confusedlily. What a weight! Sounds like you did brilliantly.

I'm so relieved I'm not the only one who can't remember contractions from the first time around...Am sure it will all come flooding back to me.

Off for my sweep now, fingers crossed it gets things going.

waxweasel · 31/03/2016 15:58

Congratulations confusedlily you absolute hero woman! That's incredible!

Nothing to report here. I'm 39 weeks exactly now and very ready for the baby to arrive. My new woven wrap arrived yesterday and I need a baby to put in it!!!!

waxweasel · 31/03/2016 15:59

Good luck emmac and littletalks!

namaste30 · 31/03/2016 16:14

So I have an interesting day dh is away tonight with my girls, my mum is away too- I have been at work this morning but went for a swim and had to get out as my back was hurting and had a bit of period pain. I had to walk home ( about a km) and now have tummy ache, hoping it amounts to nothing as my birth bag is in the car at the garage ( not great planning) and my dad is my default birth partner- he is more likely to go into 'lambing' or calving mode which is an horrific thought! Who would be your last choice of birth partner??!! Anyway, having a lie down...
Oh my word- did that lady say she had a 10 lb 13.5?? Wow wow this thread is hotting up! Amazing work!

Huge congrats Lilly and welcome to the world baby Dexter!

Emmac, I have a birthing ball but I find that it hurts my back so I have to force myself to use it unlike friends who are the opposite and prefer it to the sofa when in late pregnancy. It's supposed to help the baby descend and engage in correct position, but it hasn't helped mine so far: barely 1/5 engaged and possibly back-to-back! I think it'll be great for keeping active during labour though, and several friends have said it's very good for after the birth if you've got sore bits or a baby who likes being rocked/bounced.

This is my first baby so can't help with the contractions question... good to know that you can't remember as surely that means they're a walk in the park, right?!Wink Come on ladies, indulge me!
