Hi, I'm bored, sat on mumsnet or googling every symptom and trump. I'm 37+4 and it is my third and final. I know I should be enjoying every last kick and lightning bolt to the cervix, just feeling it is quite a big mountain to climb. Dd's were 40+3 and 40+ 6 and this is a boy. How is everyone else doing? WHAT are you doing? I am busy grumping at dh and pinteresting healthy post natal things whilst eating Easter eggs...

Babyh200 · 29/03/2016 21:10

Just popping in to say hello. I'm booked for a c-section on Thursday and currently 36+4. I had really regular sharp contractions last night which were coming every 3 minutes and achey period pains/back ache. I decided to get in the shower very late in case I needed to go in but as soon as I got in the shower they went away!
I thought baby might decide to make an appearance last night/ today...it would have been a very nice birthday present (it's my birthday today!)
I attended for a steroid injection at 9am today and back again in the morning for the next one!
Hope you ladies are all holding your babies very soon!

Babyh200 · 29/03/2016 21:11

Thanks for the thread OP x

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 21:28

Sorry to lower the tone ladies but I'm pretty sure I'm having contractions and oh my I had to need a toilet didn't I. I have never experienced such a thing as having a poop while having a contraction.

Coming between 3-6 minutes and lasting 20-30seconds but I'm finding it hard to believe it's the real deal.

Squaffle · 29/03/2016 21:43

Good luck Chatty! Sounds like things are starting...

waxweasel · 29/03/2016 21:43

Oh wow exciting! Good luck chattymummy!

I was actually about to start this exact same thread last night, so I was very excited to find this one😊 i'm 38+5 with my second baby. Went to 40+5 with my first so probably have a while to go...I'm so ready now. Just feel massively uncomfortable and increasingly knackered, have done all the prep and nesting I can, and if she doesn't come soon I'm just going to psyche myself out and be too tired to cope with labour!

Also, I am consoling myself with way too much internet shopping and it's getting expensive. I need a baby to distract me!!

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 21:48

wax I've been completly knackered the last few days.

Thank you ladies I still don't believe it's the real deal I don't think knit hurts enough

LittleTalks · 29/03/2016 21:50

Wahoo, go chatty!

I'm watching OBEM, which I now realise is probably an error.

LBOCS2 · 29/03/2016 21:50

Chatty, a good bowel clear out is a good sign - your body is clearing the way for the baby and you're less likely to poo when you're pushing Wink

namaste30 · 29/03/2016 21:55

Oooh chatty how exciting! I had poop contractions for an hour on the loo with ds2, apparently a very good thing, baby getting head in the right position for a quick entrance! Yay! Can't wait to hear in the next few hours. I am watching OBEM which is too much! Why do they always have someone on with bad teeth!

Babyh200 · 29/03/2016 21:56

Hi Chatty,
Did you have a sweep today as planned? It may well have worked, FX for you :)
I had painful contractions yesterday and lots of toilet trips. They didn't feel like BH at all but stopped eventually.
From what Ive read you know when their real cos you would be on the ceiling in agony. (Not meaning to scare you) I had an induction at 42 wks with an epidural for my first and the others have been c-sections so can't really advise on the pain of natural birth.
Hope your going to be holding your baby soon!

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 22:00

I had a sweep around 10am. Felt pretty crap all day since, my contractions with ds1 and dd1 never got to the scrape of the ceiling type stage in fact with my dd I sent hubby to work claiming I wasn't in labour only to call him once he got to work to come home a 30minute drive each way. With my ds I got to 9cm before I went into hospital.

SevenOhTwo · 29/03/2016 22:26

I had that needing to poo with every contraction with DS for a while. Was a pretty quick birth after that stage - and not too painful at all. Fingers crossed all going smoothly for you chatty - v exciting!

KnitsBakesAndReads · 29/03/2016 23:23

Lovely to find this thread, hope it's okay to join. I'm 39 weeks today with my first baby. Finding it hard to believe I'm just a week from my due date and the baby could arrive any day now.

I'm not feeling too bad for 39 weeks. I get tired very quickly (definitely grateful to be on maternity leave and able to have a nap if I need it!) and feel a bit uncomfortable walking, but nothing too much. I've also got carpal tunnel in one hand which is frustrating as I'd like to spend more time on craft projects before little one arrives. As I'm still feeling okay I'd be happy for the baby to wait at least until due date (that would give me chance to finish a few things on my lengthy to do list!) though I am definitely also getting excited to meet him now.

ComeLucky, I remember you from the April thread. It's so quiet there I hardly even remember to check it much now. Like you I'm a bit wary of sharing too much on FB so I much prefer a nice MN thread.

Good luck chatty, hope everything goes smoothly if it does turn out to be the real deal!

HappyInL0nd0n · 29/03/2016 23:31

Squaffle Your comment about MIL and your oxytocin levels made me chuckle... thanks for that. Smile

I have a membrane sweep scheduled for Friday when I'll be 40+1. I would have left it another week, but I have risk factors that mean I have to have a hospital birth which means I'm really hoping that I don't end up needing an induction because if I end up with that, they don't let you get home after giving you the pessaries. So basically, you're stuck on the ward for 24 hours before they give the drip to speed things up...

Fingers crossed things happen more naturally. I would love to have as much of the first labour stage at home. Overall, I'm not too strung out about it though. I reckon I can't control it, so I just need to relax and go with the flow as much as possible.

SevenOhTwo Leftover apple crumble? Drool..... enjoy. Smile

Good luck to all the ladies hoping things start shortly.

Sunnybitch · 29/03/2016 23:37

Not expecting but just been reading this and wanted to say goodluck to all 😊

IndomitabIe · 30/03/2016 00:15

It's official, I'm the last one on the March thread. Last baby has appeared. I am the only one left still pregnant. Boo

kiwikaterpillar · 30/03/2016 00:26

Hi all. Can I join you in the waiting room? I'm 37+6 and so fed up of being pregnant. I have SPD which means that when I'm out of the house I have to use a wheelchair and I feel so guilty that my DD (who is 2, almost 3) isn't getting the best of me. I am also very grumpy.
Consultant and midwife had thought that baby would be here by now as I have already had pre-term labour halted once. Knowing my luck I'll go 2 weeks over now!
Just to continue with the whinge fest I have been having strong Braxton hicks that can last up to 6 hours for 3 weeks now and then they just stop and I'm not sleeping much at night as that is when my sickness and nausea really kicks in.
I am also symptom spotting like crazy. Feels like I'm going to lose my mind. Currently hiding in the bath as I can't seem to get warm anywhere else and feeling sorry for myself.
Hope we all get to hold our babies soon.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 30/03/2016 04:40

On the subject of late pregnancy annoyances, is anyone else suffering from insomnia? I've been awake over an hour and despite feeling exhausted I can't get back to sleep. Oh well, on the bright side it's good preparation for being up all night with the little one I guess!

SevenOhTwo · 30/03/2016 06:30

knits hope you got back off to sleep! I was getting insomnia for a good few weeks, but been better for a little while now. If I wasn't getting to sleep when I went to bed I found going and eating something helped, and when I woke up in the small hours and couldn't get back to sleep I listened to podcasts - either helped me go to sleep or if not at least distracted me, and let me rest.

Well, I am awake and feeling nauseous - a lot of that recently - just waiting for kids to wake up. 37 weeks today so can 'officially' join the full-term club now Grin

namaste30 · 30/03/2016 07:35

Hey kiwis is this your first? You are the same gestation as me! I slept with only 1 get up last night! Hooray.
I have been having plans of changing our whole plan for nursery, I think dh will flip his lid as I have spent the last month getting him to paint- which has now done, only to want to revert that room to office so that I can have a bed/ nest in the nursery to breastfeed on in the night... Hmm I may be in trouble today- thinking of just doing it while he is away. ( he is taking the girls for the obligatory in-laws trip- far to far for me to travel from the hospital 😜) just hope I don't go into labour while he is away or my dad will have to come- now that would be weird! Anyone else getting head-on-the-cervix pains? Any news chatty??

OP posts:
fedupofpeppa · 30/03/2016 08:52

Comeluckyapril you are due the same day as me! I am hoping my baby comes a bit early though as he was measuring big.

On pregnancy annoyances, is anyone else's dh asking daily whether there is any sign of labour yet as would be annoying for him to get the train all the way to work to have to turn around and cone back. Grrr. Possibly my fault for telling him about the cramping and braxton hicks but seriously does he think I would forget to tell him I think i might be in labour until he gets on the train ☺

ComeLuckyApril · 30/03/2016 08:52

Waves to knits. It's a shame about the craft projects. I got some wrist supports, which help me do a little, mostly I'm working on decorating the nursery.

namaste that's so funny, ours used to be an office too and now the office is combined with the spare room. Could you fit a fold-out chair in your nursery? I don't think we will get ours finished in time - I need to paint all the woodwork but have got to wait for the wall paint to fully dry. And then when the gloss dries we can get carpet. Would I be completely mad to get white carpet? I'll get a rug as well!

KnitsBakesAndReads · 30/03/2016 08:52

Thanks seven, I managed to get about another hour and a half of sleep so now feeling a bit more human than I did while tossing and turning over night. I'll definitely try listening to podcasts too. I used to listen to audiobooks when I couldn't sleep so hopefully it will help. Welcome to the full term club and hope the nausea improves soon.

I've been getting cervix pains too namaste. It usually happens when the baby is most active and I can often see / feel him moving at the top of my bump then I get a kind of sharp pain which feels like he's stretching and his head is pressing on my cervix. Not certain if that's what it is, but definitely feels like it to me.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 30/03/2016 08:58

Hi ComeLucky, think I posted my last message at the same time as yours. Sorry you're having carpal tunnel issues too. I've got splints from the physio but have been told to only wear them overnight, wonder if wearing them during the day might help too. I think I'm lucky that my symptoms are mainly numbness / pins & needles and some weakness as I've heard some people get lots of pain with CTS. Hopefully we both find it disappears after the babies arrive!

Dellabob123 · 30/03/2016 09:00

Ooh chatty that sounds promising, so excited for you.

knit I've got carpel tunnel too and it's agony at night. Last night I was in so much pain that my dh ended up spraying muscle freeze on me. It was temporary relief but after waking a million times with it, happy to try anything!

I'm envious of all the weird bum feeling and head on cervix pain. I'm not engaged at 39+2 and wasnt with first, so can't relate.

As an aside, has anyone else lost all self respect when it comes to clothes at such late stage? Yesterday, I went to waitrose in some weird bright blue floral leggings/jogging bottoms shamefully from. a black and grey stripes top and tan knee high boots (only things that fit my swollen feet). I had a few looks but I'm hoping the grumpy pregnant face put them off.

Oh well, hope midwife can do sweep today and get things moving...
