I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Congratulations! So pleased baby finally made an appearance! You and icant really suffered throughout, and I'm so pleased for you both! That's a great birth weight!

I hope you have lots of cuddles with your little girl, and enjoy being able to eat again!

Congratulations Reebok! That is really wonderful news. Enjoy every moment with your little girl. ThanksThanksThanks

icklekid · 02/05/2016 05:05

Horray!!! I honestly burst into tears of relief and joy reading your post reebok huge congratulations! Going from 2cm to 10cm so quickly must have been painful but you've done amazingly and so pleased the sickness has passed. Have some cake for all of us Cake!

twinkle and rae I was exactly the same for weeks. Fine when resting, try and get up and do anything and sickness was horrendous. It made me feel guilty about being off because I wasn't too bad sat on sofa so tried to go back however I don't have a sit down job and it made me so much worse so quickly. I have now gone back but very slowly and I know my limits and have to stick to them otherwise I will be back in hospital

mrsmonkey I agree, I have no intention of cutting down medication and certainly not before going back to work. If anything I need more to cope at work! I'm 23 weeks and medication is what allows me to function even on half capacity

Thanks lucinda slept until 4.30 after falling asleep downstairs about 9 which is fairly normal. Bank holiday so will probably try for a nap midday!

twinkle can someone take you to your friends house? That early in struggled to drive but honestly having company to distract and make you laugh can be the best medicine! Don't worry about leaving early friends will understand

amysmummy12345 · 02/05/2016 06:23

Yay Reebok!! I I've been lurking for days to see if baby head arrived!! Welcome mini-bok!! No pain relief either?! You're a trooper!!

Still suffering with bloody back/bum/leg pain, apparently little madam is back to back and head down so this could be adding to the pain Confused going to try and get to docs again this week as pain killers not even touching it.

amysmummy12345 · 02/05/2016 06:25

Posted too soon!! How's icant getting on with new arrival? Love that these hg babies are good weights! Just goes to show that get what they need!
Waves to everyone Smile

SleepymrsE · 02/05/2016 07:11

LucindaE · 02/05/2016 10:25

Reebok Lovely news. FlowersGrinCakeWineBrew That has made my day!
And you did it all without pain relief! The Queen of the May has arrived. You have been so brave it's wonderful to hear that you are not suffering any more. Virtual kiss on the cheek to you both from Mother Hen, if fowl are allowed in the hospital.

Oh Reebok what wonderful news! Huge congratulations! I'm temped to take a massive chocolate fudge cake into hospital when I go into labour Grin

Thanks ickle- I do feel really guilty. My job is mostly sitting but a lot of meetings/ constantly dealing with colleagues. I really struggled in my last week because I just wanted to sit and concentrate on one thing to distract myself. And then my boss was off so I had all her work and the rest of the team asking me questions too!

amys sorry to hear you're in pain Sad

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 02/05/2016 11:57

reebok so very very glad to hear to hear BabyBok is finally here. What a long road it's been!

Wishing you, babyBok and Papa the best

Away for a few days now, hope everyone is surviving ...

Reebok · 02/05/2016 13:37

Thanks everyone. I'm currently on cloud 9. Feel very sore though from second degree tear, bleeding like mad and the afterbirth contractions are getting worse (particularly when breastfeeding). Those of you who are having your second dc please prepare yourself for these contractions. Apparently they are worse second child onwards.

Mop keeping fingers crossed for you!

Haha Rae go for it!!

Amys sounds like baby's position is Defo causing the pain. Baby reebok was also back to back which is why I had severe back labour.

Wonder how Icant and spandau are getting on? Love to you all x

Freshbreadandfaith · 02/05/2016 14:57

I have been on ondansetron since five weeks and the Dr handed me three months prescription for it, plus avamine, the pharmacist didn't bat an eye either
I actually googled what drugs Kate Middleton was on but couldn't find anything, I would be very interested to know how long she was treated and what meds she was on and for how long

Freshbreadandfaith · 02/05/2016 15:00

Congratulations Reebok!!!!! My OH finds it fascinating how quickly the sickness goes after birth, enjoy eating! Give bubs a cuddle from us xxx

Twinklelittlestar1 · 02/05/2016 16:56

Congratulations Reebok! Excellent news. I'm so happy for you Flowers

LucindaE · 02/05/2016 17:40

Reebok I forgot earlier to conduct you across the drawbridge to the Pink Castle. Balloons all up round. . What is baby to be called? Is 'May' going to be one of her names? She was obviously waiting to be Queen of the May.
To explain that 'Pink Castle' metaphor, as I child we had a snakes and ladders board, and at the end of it was pictured a pink castle in the clouds. Hyperemesis is like a horrible board game. Good day: ate half a sandwich; move forward one two places. Bad day, and told to chew ginger. Back three...
Those currently suffering, this will soon enough be you posting the good news.
amysmummy I don't know if my earlier comments suggesting Osteopath or Chriopracter were any good for spd?

SleepymrsE · 02/05/2016 19:29

Stop, hold press... I just ate a pear. An actual real life piece of fruit!! And I enjoyed it.

MotherofPearl · 02/05/2016 19:30

Here's hoping it stays put Sleepy! That's quite a feat, well done!

MadrigalElectromotive · 02/05/2016 19:52

Well done on your fruit consumption Mrs! Hope it stays put for you now.

I am still struggling with this cold making the HG worse. My ketones have been at 2+ for the last few days and I can't seem to get them down. So frustrating! Seem to be able to eat and drink a bit in the day but then am up overnight vomiting. Very annoying! Still, 2 weeks and 2 days and this baby will be here so trying to focus on that now.

LucindaE · 02/05/2016 20:24

Madrigal That sounds awful. It's horrible to spend nights with one's head down the loo; lonelier, somehow, than the day. Sorry to hear of ketones edging up. I am so glad it is the Pink Castle for you soon, too.
...and MotherofPearl. I hope the meds are continuing to keep acidity at bay?
SleepymrsE Congratulations on eating a pear, you wild thing, you.
I hope everyone has been coping on this Bank Holiday Monday.

Hi Lucinda! Unfortunately I can't afford to see either Sad was hoping gp might refer but not hiding my breath... X

icklekid · 03/05/2016 05:15

amysmummy sorry to hear that you are still suffering hope gp does make a referral and that it helps.

lucinda you are always so caring and have such brilliant advice- thank you for your posts

madrigal sorry to hear about your cold however the countdown is definitely on, don't let those ketones get you down. Before you know it you will be sleep deprived but content and sickness free with a gorgeous baby!

Eyes sleepy suspiciously a whole pear...none of this tinned variety...are you sure 😉??? Hope you enjoyed every mouthful!

reebok am dreading after birth pains- I think my epidural stopped me feeling them last time (or the cocktail of drugs I was given as they sewed me up post episiotomy) as a friend asked me why no one had told them about them...I really have no memory of any...am hoping to avoid a epidural this time however...good job this is 2nd and last child! Pleased to hear you are still doing well

I managed to go out for brunch with dh and ds. Ds was really well behaved thanks to toys/ food distractions. I even managed to eat something! I'm finding it easier to consider eating between 11-1 anything outside of that window is a no go. Even managed a salad on Saturday! Was very violently sick (through nose aswell) with fluids last night so must remember to keep checking ketones today. They stay under control for me when I'm keeping fluids down but not so good otherwise. Thankful for bank holiday meaning 2 day week..
